So, I love O365 and I use it for work nearly every day. While I’m a fan of the office app on my phone and find it easy to find things I’m looking for (or have opened recently), i can’t help but feel rather annoyed at the “mobile version” of the app on the iPad. I find myself daily checking the App Store for updates and looking for an update for iPad. If this app had a meaningful iPad user interface (that is, using the ENTIRE SCREEN), then this app would get 5 stars for me. Let’s get that iPad update!

I am very happy to see all the features in one app. But I gave 3 stars because there are many bugs in scan option. I am a student so due to this pandemic I am taking online classes, so I have to make PDF's many time a day and whenever I use the scan option, I get very angry. 1) Whenever I click a photo it always turn off my phone. 2) It takes a lot of time to download the images. 3) The REMOVE FROM LIST option doesn't works at all. There are many more bugs and glitches.

I love using office apps on my ipad. I think they are well designed. And i love using office on my phone once it incorporated the other apps (word, excel, ppt). So naturally I was really excited when the ipad version of office was updated to include the actual apps. But there is one major flaw. It doesn’t support multiple instances yet. You cannot (at the moment) open office more than once. You can do side by side with a different app, but you cannot but office side by side with office. So if you want to use only office, you cannot look at a word document and an excel file. You can’t have 2 word documents side by side. You will need to use something else to accomplish this. Thankfully, the individual office apps (word, excel, ppt) don’t have this problem. I can open as many word apps as my ipad can handle. So I will keep using those for now, and I am sure a future update will incorporate this functionality into office.

This is a very useful app especially for me as a student. I save all my docs and retrieve them whenever I need to either on phone or pc. But the current update has some kind of bug. Sometimes I have to completely close the app (on my phone) in other for the files to open, Otherwise it will never open up. Previously it wasn't like that. Pls fix for 5 stars

It's really nice having all the office apps available in one app. The scan feature is especially good. As with all Microsoft products, syncing with OneDrive has to be the most convenient feature. It's very nice having everything available on all my devices.

Quite pleasant using this Application. It has helped me to work on the move without the stress of carrying volume of hard copies of documents. It has also afforded me the ease of work on any device with which the Application is compatible.

I really like this application as a handy tool for using its components - particularly Excel Spreadsheets on my mobile phone. The only slight criticism I have is that occasionally the spreadsheets option will revert back to saving changes made as a default. It is easy to accidentally make an entry in a wrong cell whilst travelling and then on exiting find that it has been updated. You can use the History mode to revert back to an earlier copy but this can be awkward to identify correct changes.

Great call by Microsoft to add their Office Trio (Word, Excel and Power Point) into one app. I have an older 16GB phone, and Storage is at a high premium. With this app, I can write papers, work on spreadsheets and presentations without taking up space with three separate apps, saving me precious storage space. This is a great app for working on projects in places I can't bring my laptop, or if one of my other family members is using it, I can still be productive from my phone. Pair this app with a bluetooth keyboard and you have a winning combination!

This is great! The update is very efficient for me. I work between Word and Excel quite often for research. To be able to open, copy, and use actions quickly when I’m doing something quickly (like emailing my boss about statistical results) is essential. Office does this very well and I’m very happy with Microsoft listening to customers and combining all of the essentials into one. I also really like the option to convert an image to Excel table or image to text. These small features really make me love it.

Gives all the functionality of my desktop apps, as much as can be done with a touch UI. I still don't quite understand if I need to keep my standalone Word, Excel, and other apps but I do just in case. It seems that this app duplicates all of them but I would hate to lose something by uninstalling an app that I shouldn't.

I keep updating the app in the hopes of fixing one particular problem. It keeps freezing on me, especially when I leave the app and come back to it. I'd have to close the app entirely, before I can continue whatever I'm working on. It's quite frustrating, especially if you have to meet a deadline.
  • Phantom Editor Mucking About Aug 4, 2021

A sync issue has happened three times now. I open a document saved to OneDrive on my iPad and start editing. I then switch to another app to look something up. I return to Office, only to be told that changes can’t be uploaded because someone else is editing the document. No one else is editing the document. I have opened it on only one device, and no other. And if someone else were, why is that a problem? What is the point of saving documents to the cloud if collaboration is impossible? If someone else if editing, figure that stuff out and sync the changes. So I close the document then click on the icon indicating a sync issue. I click on resolve, hoping I can merge the two conflicting copies. No such option is available. I have to manually copy the changes I made, discard them, and then paste them in. Wonderful.
  • Why isn’t this universal at start? May 9, 2020

    By Dan62103
I’ve had an iPad since day 1, gen 1. I have waited ever since for Microsoft and Apple to meld their strengths and have a good workflow for office on IOS and cloud files. After reading about this app’s release I was hopeful this was the one that would become the solution. And then after downloading realized...it’s prioritized for phones and does the lame compatibility version for iPad. I don’t work in the tech industry, but would bet money that an analysis would show people using office on mobile devices are largely on tablets and less on phones. Are that many people really making presentations and excel files on phone screens? This needed to be a universal app or prioritized for iPads first and then have a phone version. Feels like a no brainer and failure for now for me. Hoping iPad prioritization comes soon.

The interface of the app is very cheap. If you accidentally touch on the right border of the screen while scrolling through a document, the slider automatically moves many pages ahead which is very pathetic. Moreover you cannot open more than one document at a time which is very very absurd. Like what... . Is it an app designed by Microsoft!!!!!
  • New Office app confusing in opened / created Word files Nov 20, 2020

    By Mark Verizon customer
Since the installation of the new Office app, if I go to OneDrive on an iOS device and open a Word file or create a Word file, what interface shows up in the opened or created file isn’t Word app or a Word interface. Instead this “Office” app opens. It’s very confusing. The Office app interface is very basic, and even the font graphics are simplistic. Since I have discovered this quirk with the “Office” app, and since going to support didn’t give me an easy way to address the issue, I cannot rate this new Office app very high, only one star low. If I open just the Word app, it seems to work just fine. So today, to try and avoid the Office app doing this, since I already have Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps installed and working well on iOS devices, I removed the Office app and dropped my rating to one star.
  • Call it “Office Lens Plus”? Feb 20, 2020

By Apps as I see them
The Office app for iOS as of February 2020 seems to be lacking a lot of the power promised in the various videos from Microsoft floating around. It looks like this app was rushed out before it was finished. One video shows the ability to create a PowerPoint from an outline, but try finding the “Create Outline” button in this version. Office Lens already has some great capabilities - such as scanning a whiteboard or making a PDF - and this app does those too. And while it will get those images or scans over into a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document, that’s hardly bringing them all into one place in any easy way. I hope Microsoft will continue to develop this into what they’ve promised. But at this point, there’s not enough in the app, and what is there isn’t quite integrated yet.

Never syncs properly. I can save a file on my desktop to the cloud and when I try to access it from the app, it will show me a version from a week ago. Refreshing does nothing. Never updates consistently. This and the entire Onedrive cloud system is a complete joke. Big surprise, yet another swing and a miss from Microsoft.
  • Cursed. If you don't want to lose your work, don't use this app until this issue has been fixed. Sep 15, 2021

    By 10453627984659361072
This app is in need of a serious fix. When I finish editing a new document I created and renamed it in the menu, I noticed a clone of the same document existing but with the previous name ("Document") so I tried to delete that clone because I only wanted to keep the updated one. However, after deleting the clone I could no longer open the new version, and I checked in my Files storage and it was nowhere to be found. I have no idea why this would suddenly happen but this issue has to be fixed because I have lost an important document due to this.
  • If you love apps getting kicked out of memory you’ll love Office! Mar 15, 2021

    By LouisPiper
This app gets jettisoned from memory more than any other app I can think of. I have games that I’ll swipe home, open safari, then go back to and they won’t have moved. This app? If I take my eyes off the screen it’s gone. Thankfully it saves everything but wow does it take time to watch it reload EVERY SINGLE TIME. Add that to the fact that this app seems to put images wherever it feels like in Word docs I wonder why I use it every single time I tap to open it. If I wasn’t required to use it I would hand write everything and send by carrier pigeon than use it. It is truly a terrible experience.

This app actually worked very well but it's giving me a lot of trouble from 3-4 months Its irritatingly hanging so much. It just allows me to click one image in a pdf then closes the application and says Office isn't responding. Its not being so good these days. The apps performance has steeply fallen from few days. I am not much interested in using this app anymore.

This app is an example of something I didn’t know I needed but once I began exploring and using it, I love it. Very elegant and simple solution, with access to all of the key use cases. Microsoft continues to delight under Satya Nadella and this app is another example of a well-executed solution that not only meets needs but delights in its simplicity. As MS continues to improve some of the bones (lens/pdf scanning and editing, etc.) this app will only continue to get better. Well done Microsoft and Office app developers. Love it.

Best app this app doesn't have ads. It is not that great in making PDFs but converts the them easily. I thing needs to be improved is the cropping and editing when making a PDF but I give it 5 stars because it is the best app I have ever used in this category.

I love the current setup with teams and 365 app integration. It is so nice to be able to login to Team and edit all of our team documents and share/edit things simultaneously, it just makes life so easy. I don’t know how I would work without all my Office applications. This is used mostly for my work account but I will never do without my personal 365 subscription either. Keep it up Microsoft, lets see a free update to that Windows 11!! 😉

The app is great; but limited. The pandemic locked me out of university, community college, and public library computer labs which put a cramp in me posting on my Facebook page. I wondered if Microsoft had an Office App in the App Store? To my surprise; there was! The App allowed me to continue posting from my IPhone SE; which have its difficulties. I yet, continued on. My problems were the inflexibility of the app to work on the small surface of my iPhone. Frustrating as it is, I continue to use it, the App gets the job done; which is a plus!!!

This is very nice app, but it has many issues. (1) The PDF file of external storage (Memory card) is not shared without being saved in the internal storage (Phone Memory). (2) Sometimes app system and PDF file view system are very slow. (3) Please add features auto crop/auto detect/auto capture. Improve all.

Would be even better if (A) there was a privacy option that allows users to set a password/pin, or use Touch ID; and (B) if there were better integration between this and cloud provider apps such that each app could be protected with a password while also allowing the user to open documents from any cloud app via Office as a centralized point. Right now password protection for iOS OneDrive, Google Drive, etc. has to be disabled to open and edit documents.

I currently reference a spreadsheet and write about the data in a word document on separate apps, but I am worried that I will not be able to have these two files open in separate apps and will have to close a file, open the other, the. Reopen the original. It can be great!

I recently started using Microsoft Office as a place to grab my Microsoft docs, spreadsheets and ppts. Honestly I didn’t know it existed before, I must say I am pleased. However, adding OneNote would be great, it is part of the Microsoft office apps. It’s only been a week but as I said so far so good. Also, being able to use my Apple Pencil in the Notes app is a must. I prefer writing notes not typing.

This app is the one😭😭. I love typing with it it's so easy to use buuut it unsaved my documents I don't know why. I remember loosing important documents and having to retype them again " the pain". I saved them in the internal storage and on the sd card but I lost both documents. I think that should be improved and charged. Also you should give us options were we can save our documents automatically on the emails to prevent this type of errors ⚠️
  • No POP. No real-time support. No sync across platforms. Mar 12, 2021

    By YSS1254
I will start with support. If you have an issue, don’t count on a real-time chat. What!? No there is no real-time chat in the support function and the support options are limited if you try any of the other support options. I have never seen a chat option that does not have real-time responses. Unacceptable. You cannot use POP with this app. It only allows IMAP which means if you have your own domain and domain email, you can Ouse it here. Not very helpful for businesses—especially a sole proprietor who has no need for exchange. I have spent hours (maybe days) trying to find a configuration that works for me. I have Office365 as well as the individual apps on my desktop. Surprisingly the desktop apps do not sync with the cloud base accounts. The galling thing is that you have to pay for this fragmented and inflexible series of product. Moving on to find another choice.

Fine app otherwise, but riddle me this -- Why does a *word processor* behave like it's utterly crippled without network connectivity? Lose connectivity, and suddenly there is a multi-minute lockup every time you attempt to switch documents or create a new document. Word processing is one of the most network-independent exercises in computer science; surely your coders can get it to handle a loss of connectivity more gracefully than THAT!

While this takes up less memory on my device, it doesn’t feel like it makes things easier or faster when using Office. If I have individual apps on my home screen, I can start the needed workflow faster than opening Office then looking for Word or Excel. Also a true iPad version is needed for me to get meaningful work done. I can zoom in on my iPad, but lots of screen space is wasted, and again, there is no advantage than using the individual iPad versions of MS Office.
  • Lag in typing Sep 4, 2021

    By trapzed
After a hour of working (or sometimes less time) the program starts to be 2-3 words behind what I am typing or adds extra spaces, a period and uppercase letters to the middle of my sentences. Then deletes more than I want it to. It is very frustrating. I have to completely close the app and re-open my paper before it starts working properly. I have had to do this sometimes 3-4 times in a hour. My IPad is bran new and completely updated.
  • Love the idea, needs work on iPad Feb 16, 2021

    By JayJay2425
I love the idea of having a unified app on iOS/iPadOS. I was very excited to see that this app has finally made its way to iPad. I’m someone who doesn’t necessarily need the full power of all 3 standalone apps, and they take up storage more than anything else. A unified, lighter app is just what I was looking for. However, without multiple-window/multitasking support, this app cannot serve as a suitable replacement. If this feature is added, this app would be perfect.

Currently use the big 3 as separate apps because at times I will need to open multiple documents or spreadsheets at the same time. Thankfully the regular individual apps do that just fine. Unfortunately, I will be using the 3 separate apps. I like the idea of just office if Microsoft would allow for multiple instances of the app to be open. Also more desktop like features to the 3 apps would be nice.
  • PLEASE OPTIMIZE FOR iPadOS Apr 13, 2020

    By Shaw.Nomura
I can’t give you a 5 star review for two reasons: 1) I use Office 365 APPS exclusively on my iPad Pro. You NEED TO provide a separate iPadOS app or optimize this one to be used on the iPad. 2) Please improve the Excel parts of this app especially when an iPadOS version is created. It would be awesome to get a version that rivals the MacOS version of Excel. Many of us us the iPad as a Mac/PC replacement. These two improvements will truly make this the perfect APP for the mobile office user.

  • Broken iCloud integration Aug 18, 2021

    By Biox
The latest update seems to know little about saving documents in the iPadOS/iOS/macOS Files app (iCloud storage). All on its own, Office moved a file I frequently modify from Files into iPad-local storage. No notice or warning was given—I just happened to notice 2 copies of the file present in Recents. One copy is the latest version and stored locally and can’t be migrated to Files. The other copy was a week old, from just before this Office update which makes claims about protecting personal documents from being saved in the cloud. Sheesh. How does a bug this bad get released, except that Microsoft doesn’t care much about Apple users?

School is back again so ill have to endure using this app again. Annoying bugs i encountered last year are still here, the view zooming in and out to random places suddenly, and now whenever I type, it randomly jumps and eats up a piece of text (eat as in delete) also comes with weird indentations for numberings that is hard to control. Very annoying especially that I have deadlines to catch. This is my first review ever, I just can't stand that the rating is high even tho it's so buggy. Pls fix
  • Was good, but an update made it worse. Apr 28, 2020

There's a microphone icon when viewing a document in Mobile view that won't go away. It's so annoying. That and when coming back to a document, I no longer have the option to go where I left off. When working with smaller documents, it's not a problem. But when I have a 456 page document that I'm working on and I go back to the middle to edit and exit, I have to find my way back when before there used to be a little previous badge I could click on. Ease revert and give option to hide the microphone icon.
  • Issues right off the bat Aug 17, 2021

    By PeregrinePlays
I’m sure glad I decided to get a MacBook instead of an iPad Pro for my more intensive work because these Microsoft Office apps need serious work. After setting up a OneDrive account for university, I experimented with document creation on my new MacBook using the desktop and browser versions of Word. Both worked without a problem and the auto syncing was excellent. I then downloaded Office and Word on my iPad to compare. No matter which app I’m using, there are strange issues. Yellow highlights with black font, cyan highlights with red font, it doesn’t matter—all text with highlights appear white with a light navy blue highlight. To test the mobile version of Office further, I tried it on my iPhone. While that app had no issues properly representing text as originally created, the app kept crashing as soon as I tried to make any edits.

I keep updating the app in the hopes of fixing one particular problem. It keeps freezing on me, especially when I leave the app and come back to it. I'd have to close the app entirely, before I can continue whatever I'm working on. It's quite frustrating, especially if you have to meet a deadline.

  • Microsoft Office 365 Word Oct 7, 2020

    By aapdisney
This started out as a great tool, but lately has been a huge headache due to the fact that after a short period of time typing there are constant delays in words appearing and punctuations, spaces and words are being added randomly. Nothing has helped to correct the issue. We have tried deleting and reuploading it and that hasn’t helped, we checked our internet and that isn’t the issue, we have even tried other devices with the same thing and it happens there too. It’s very frustrating especially when it is the main tool for my schoolwork.

I am aware that the separate apps are optimized for iPad, but I wanted to get this to get to my things all in one app. Seeing that’s not possible anymore, it’s better to just get the separate apps for iPad that are actually optimized. I use an iPad mini and I saw that Office was here as an iPad app—but it’s not. The “iPad” app that is supposed to be for iPad users is literally the iPhone app. Your only option to make it fit your iPad’s screen is to use the enlarge button on the bottom right corner of your screen. Why did you get lazy? The Office app still has a lot of potential but it’s ruined for iPad users.

Please assist with retrieving my file along with its content/data ASAP. Contact me immediately with a 100% solution. This is URGENT!!!

Loaded new Office 365 and it blocked access to Office 2010 and I yet to have accessed my old email accounts at all after a week of hours trying Wish I never waisted the money I didn’t need One Drive but Windows 10 update installed it too. It earned a 1 star from me and now only an old laptop works yet with Office 2010 and my new laptop is worthless for my old email coming in it only puts out via Windows 10 on Edge and nothing on Outlook 365 but some long outlook with numbers behind i🤬🥵😡🤯
  • Will not save a single scan Nov 6, 2020

    By SirFliesALot
This app is a waste of space. It will allow you to view your one drive and that’s about it. If you scan a document, it won’t save it. If you open a document, it won’t successfully open. If you create a document, it’ll bring about yet another error. App seems cool in concept but if it doesn’t work then it is just a clunk of an app that does absolutely nothing in terms of work flow. It is just an app taking up space that allows you to do what the OneDrive app already lets me do, view what I have saved in OneDrive.
  • Pinned items do not sync properly Dec 10, 2020

    By rgoble4
This seems silly, but if I mark a document as pinned on the iPhone and then open/edit that document on my Mac, I expect the pinned status to carry forward. Yet over and over again I have to remark my frequently used documents as pinned on my iPhone after editing them on my Mac because somehow the pinned value is lost. It makes me angry every time. I’ll leave this at 1 star until this is fixed. How hard is it to sync one Boolean value? This is happening with OneDrive!
