Easy to install. It depends on people to use the app, and to self-report when they know they have been exposed or if they test positive. It’s anonymous. All the system does is alert others who were close to an exposed person. It uses the short-range (30 feet) Bluetooth radio in your smartphone, NOT GPS information. Again, it’s completely anonymous for those who self-report and to anyone who is later alerted. All of us who use the app provide a benefit to our communities, and to ourselves, as well. It’s not a perfect system. If it betters your chances (or a loved one) by 15%, would you use it? 5%? You betcha.

  • app does NOT detect Covid Nov 13, 2020

Hey... This App does NOT detect Covid. The only way you will see ANY notice is IF the person uses this app to warn us. I cannot give it any “star ratings” because I see nothing or notice any changes in the App. I have it a neutral rating so that I could post my review. Battery drainage? I see zero drainage on my cell. Make sure to check your Battery in your Settings and see where most of the drainage is coming from. Remember, this is a brand new App and most do not know about it. Let’s just hope most will use it. As for the city offices that spread Covid, noticing that this app was out there for one day or so at that time, they probably did not know about this app yet? Hopefully it was on the news or in the media to warn people? I am trying to stay positive here. The BEST way to stay safe is to WEAR A MASK! Now that is one thing I can complain about. When I am out at the park or driving by a little league game, 99.9% of the people were NOT wearing a mask! That is a shame! Stay safe everyone. We need to stick together and do what is right, because we ALL are going through this.

I wish the information was more well organized and the map was more informative. It would be great if the map showed the amount of cases by city instead of county, more recent info, and the map on a different section of the app because I thought for a minute that there was no map, there is its just not super informative. I'd also like to see a leaderboard of what city's have the most cases and have testing areas on the map. Otherwise it's a good start in the right direction for michigan :)

The way these contact tracing apps work is actually quite interesting. Somewhat counterintuitively, its able to do its job effectively without violating your privacy. It doesn't track your location, it doesn't know your name or anything about you, it doesn't know the identities of the people you've come into contact with, and it doesn't spread any information about who you are to others. Very awesome to know that we can keep ourselves safe during a public health crisis without having to give up our privacy.

No notifications??? I worked in a hospital filled with COVID patients during an outbreak. Maybe none of them had this app installed. This app is an amazing concept. I apperciate the anonymity. I will continue to recommend this app to others!

Edit: Hasn't checked exposure since 1/4/21. Seems stuck. Checked google exposure over past 14 days. Contained no data. Wish there was a way to force a check/notification update. Reinstalled. Still not updating Original: Low battery consumption. Exceptional privacy. No location tracking. Low data use. Not invasive. If you question privacy read the white papers from Google and Apple. No special permissions needed. In addition to alerts you can look at important state health information.

I'm positive and can't record it. I've had my rapid results for 5 days and send out results for 3 days, but can't report anything without a code from the health department. Makes the app completely pointless. Update 12/15: I never got any call from the health department, so never got a PIN. The app specifically says they will call. If resources weren't available to keep up with issuing PINs, the app shouldn't have been released.

The app is useless unless everyone who has a positive test submits their result. It's very unrealistic to expect compliance to that level. Interesting concept but completely irrelevant based on inconsistencies in reporting. If someone didn't realize these flaws it also could create a false sense of security. State of Michigan- In response to your answer, that is exactly the point I was trying to make. If everyone is not using the app what information are you really going to get from it?

  • Does not alert Dec 8, 2020

I ended up getting covid and only place I can think of is between 3 places... mainly a grocery store near me.... I went to self report however I did not have a “PIN” from the local health department. I was in the hospital when I found out about being positive. It would be nice to be able to report being positive. I called all 3 places myself and told them I tested positive so the employees are aware of exposure. I did NOT have symptoms. However now I have a stuffy nose that comes and goes, can’t smell, and hardly can taste.

Impossible to report a positive case without an 8 digit PIN. Calling the number provided just gave you the run around with multiple prompt options, none of which were to obtain a pin. Calling the local health department was just as big of a joke as none of the 3 people I spoke to, including a nurse on call, knew of a pin that I needed to report a case. What's the point of a tracking app if it's this difficult to report when you've had a positive test? Uninstalled this useless app!

I like the idea . But the fact that this app relies completely on self reporting and given the delays in reporting test results, this fall far short of being an effective tool. By the time you actually get your test result, if you’re one of the VERY FEW people that have downloaded this app , the effectiveness goes out the window . This app will not track your movements from 3 or 4 or more days ago to tell you that you were in close contact with someone who finally got their result and then decided to go ahead and report through this app.

All negative reviews seem to speak about the lack of participation by the public. Instead of rating the app poorly, how about we take a moment to engage our family and friends, educate them about this app, and encourage them to use it. It will never be perfect but it is the best contact tracing solution available at this time.

  • Really good! Dec 3, 2020

I really like this app! I find it to be very useful and informational. It helps us stay alert and well aware of everything. I feel like this app has potential to help decrease the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan. This app will allow our community to stay safe. I recommend this app to everyone. The whole idea of posting your results is a really smart thing. However, even though the results will most definitely be off by a couple days, results are results and it’ll help all of us stay safe.

For the first ten days I had this installed Exposures were checked 2 - 3 times each day. As of this review, the last time Exposures were checked was four days ago. I've verified all settings on the phone as directed by the app. I've force stopped and restarted the app. Nothing seems to get it to begin checking exposures again. If not checking for exposures, what is the purpose of the app? Update:. Oddly shortly after posting the above, the app started updating exposures at least twice daily.

It was working fine updating regularly. Now it hasn't updated my exposure or the cases and deaths since January 4th. I don't know what is wrong. Yes my bluetooth is on. I don't know what to do with it.
  • Why does race matter? Jan 10, 2021

    By Max pandas
If you go to the stats tab you can select a “demographic layer”. It allows you to select black, hispanic, and native American. You can’t select any other race; the only other option is Non-White. What does this mean, is the app racist? We’re all human and want to know how many of us have corona

Too much text, especially when you try to look at John Hopkins pages. The notice about that fills half the page, the bottom icons take more, so you get very little info on the screen and cant even see that it is michigan on the map. Next topic: I also worry very much about being tracked and my privacy.

Seems like a good idea, I'm not in a major city and don't work around large amounts of people so not sure how effective it will be for me. One thing it did I don't get since it says it uses bluetooth and won't ask for GPS, is it required me to have my GPS on to receive notifications! "Exposure notification inactive" this is what it tells me unless my GPS is on. "To use turn on location."

I love the idea and the fact that it uses low battery bluetooth to function. I KNOW it isn't working though, because I work with Covid patients in a major metro area hospital and I haven't had one single exposure according to this app, while my phone is on my person 24/7. I realize all my patients might not have this app, but if anyone should be getting an exposure notification, should be me. Gives public false sense of security. Privacy be dammed gov't should mandate this type of tracking.

  • Doesn’t do the job intended - failed for me Oct 22, 2020

I was at the Clinton Township mi clerks office on 10-21, stood in line went to several desks talked to three people at clerks office. The one who handed my ballot to me didn’t have a mask on. I get home later that day turn on evening news to find that right after I left, it was discovered the clerk and other people who work there had Covid and didn’t report it. The office was shut down right around an hour after I left and is closed for next 5 days...during an election...and I was exposed having been there. I waited for this app to alert me, I mean it was on the news! It’s reported! I was there for hours! They closed the township offices due to it! But this morning I looked...app still says “no exposures”. It is unreliable and just failed the most simple test. Who put this thing out? Grade: total fail
