  • I have a suggestion May 8, 2020

    By Gshot2002
This is a pretty good app in my opinion! I use it 24/7 to talk to my friends. I use it more than my phone’s built in texting app. I love that you’re able to video chat with people, see if they’re active, and you can personalize the chat a little bit. The biggest complaint I have though is that you can’t delete images from the photos and videos section of the chat’s settings. You can only delete those things from the actual conversation. This is bothersome to me because I talk a lot to my friends and if I want to go back and delete some old images, I’m unable to because they’re too far up in older conversations. I also can’t search my conversations anymore because it always bugs out. It won’t load the conversations and then after that, the app won’t work at all. If you could take these things into consideration, especially the deleting suggestion, then I would very much appreciate it! Otherwise though, this is my #1 messaging app!

It's fast...and you know, light. It doesn't consume much RAM. But it's really lacking in terms of other messenger app functions. The most annoying is that you can't send videos. You can't reply to a particular message like the messenger app. And in group messages I don't get to participate in audio or video chat. Adding these functions would really help.

Ok so yes more easy to use and more micro BUT the app is a little too bright adding andark mode wont really require much changes(probably) and also sent vids and pics cant be seen on any GCs or PMs, its really a hassle scrolling up and back reading just to check that certain vid or pic that has been sent so please add that feature cuz fb lite is pretty much the only thing poor people like me who has low end devices can use

Both my and other person's messages didn't not reach each others in time, sometimes the messages reach 1 day late, so frustating especially with important conversations and/or in rush hours. Another issue, I think you should seperate the "message react" and "message options (Copy, Forward, Delete)" method, since both functions can be triggered by long-pressing the messages, it quite annoys me when I just want to delete messages and it keeps popping up the react emojis instead.

Nice alternative to Facebook Messenger, but I would like there to be a dark mode included in the app, if possible, I think also, both apps would benefit from more color themes. Also, I think a nice feature to add to this app, and if not this one, the full Messenger, is for you to be able to change the notification sound in the settings, and for the sound it makes when you see that person typing, for you to be able to choose different sounds, the sound that it is set to I would like to change.

Since the closure of the Facebook free option, there has been a problem with the connection to Facebook. If you do not fix the connection, then no one will be able to run Facebook if there is a problem with so many connections. If there is a connection problem, it will be very bad for people to drive. I think the Facebook company was requested to get the connection well

  • New Update is Trash, Useless (iOS) Apr 4, 2020

    By Lady Ash A.
The new update is absolutely disgusting. It makes this app not only visibly unappealing, but the new UI is hard to use, foolhardy, and removes many useful features. I also keep having problems with crashing. The new online/offline status is buggy and gets stuck. Phone calls are buggy too and stopped displaying properly. Messages can no longer be easily copied, deleted or forwarded. The old menu was easier. I preferred the swipe reply feature. Messages are no longer easy to reply to in notifications either. Pictures are not easy to send. I used to like this app because of the little unique things like the old cute reactions, chat colors, and balloons and hearts that you could catch. Now, they are all gone. I used to love using stickers, but the system is all messed up now as your most recent stickers and the packs are harder to find. I do not like the excess spacing between packs either. I am not exaggerating to say that I hate this new update. I have recommended that people do not update if they still have an older version. Many of my friends have agreed with me and say that this new version glitchy, problematic, and ugly. I have stopped using it as much because it is useless now. What did you do to this app?

Facebook and messenger are always changing. The new messenger updates are less than desirable. For some unknown reason when I have a message from marketplace and delete it, it still keeps the marketplace folder in my chats, even though there are no messages in it. Before, when you’d delete all the marketplace messages, the folder would also disappear from your chat list. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app to make it go away. Then it happened again today, except now it not only is keeping the folder in my chats, it’s saying there’s still an unread message in it when there are zero messages in the folder. Seems minor, but I like my chats cleaned up, so the fact that it no longer goes away is rather annoying. Also, could we stop constantly changing where “spam/other/message requests” go? Why can’t you just make it a more accessible option and leave it? We shouldn’t have to go hunt for the folder and this last update completely moved where they are found, to the point that initially I thought message requests were just going to be a thing of the past. Rarely are the updates good, and it’s clear others agree. Unfortunate!

  • Glitchy to the point of unusable. Jul 21, 2020

By what do you mean name taken
For the longest time, Facebook messenger with my go to for communication. I didn’t have everyone’s phone number and not many of my contacts used something like WhatsApp, but everyone has a Facebook account. This app is so glitchy that it’s finally broken me of Facebook period. I never really used the service as a social media platform to begin with, but it was a decent communication service. Or would have been. For the majority of this year, the software has been unreliable, glitchy, and riddled with bugs. It consistently fails to give notifications, occasionally forgets that I had sent a message, and by far the worst glitch: it will randomly kick me out of conversations while I’m reading them or typing in them and put me back at the contacts screen. And of course, it doesn’t save what I had been typing. This means that something as simple as sending a message can require you to start typing it two or five times before you can actually send one. There is no excuse for a company that big to deliver software this crappy, especially given how much shady crap they are otherwise up to involving user data. Check please, I am done.

The title seems harsh, but you need to know how bad this update is. It’s annoying that the texting screen has to be full screen the whole time, and I also hate that you stopped including the cool things with emojis. My friend and I liked sending the balloon emoji, and it would send balloons all over the screen. With my mom, I’d send a heart and make it really big. Both of those features are removed now, because you want the app to be easier for “business purposes?” Seriously? It was never meant for that, and, let’s be honest, most people would use Messages anyway. The majority of people on the app just want to enjoy the app by texting their friends and family, and now you got rid of things that made the app unique. I really liked Messenger, but you had to waste it by updating like this. Please, please just leave it how it was. I would talk about some other more “important” issues, but there are other reviews too, like how you have to have a phone number now to text. I don’t know how this update can help. I sound rude here, but I want you to take the time to read my review and consider what I said. Thanks for reading.

Absolutely it's an amazing app.. it saves lots of space of phone memory.. and it works most likely the main messenger apps.. but one thing here missing is, there is no dark mood here.. so i wish if the developer add the dark mood features in next update it would be great!!! Please add this feature man.? We hardly need it.. Thank you team facebook.

I can’t believe you finally removed all the trash that was bloating this app ,now finally the app looks like a messaging app which how it should’ve looked since the beginning, unfortunately as cool as the app looks right now I think this change has came in too late ,well for me at least because I don’t recall the last time I actually used messenger to message someone and every person I know has move away to using other apps that provided a better and cleaner experience that what messenger used to offer for the past years ,now I’m not hating here no in fact i hope people get back to using it because it’s just more convenient than other apps especially now that it’s simple and clean but I’m just saying it’s kinda late and I’m afraid people have gotten used to the other apps but we’ll see about that...

I’m not trying to write a bad review or anything but... Can y’all update this app by telling us our emails in the settings. Because had an Messenger account and then I had forgot the password word. Then, I had to make a new one but I couldn’t use my regular phone email so I had to come up with another one because it was an account (my old account) that was already use. But now I had my Phone number changed and now I can’t log into my account. Because my account is not set up on this phone number but on my old one. SO CAN Y’ALL ALSO let us have an option to change our phone number on there ??? And I don’t have Facebook account I only have an Messenger so I can’t log in with the Facebook login. Thank you for reading. 🙏🏾 || MINUTES LATER: just found out u can’t have Messenger with an Facebook account so bye Messenger had a good time with u but bye.

Generally pretty good, the issue with not being able to see gifs seems to have been resolved, BUT: when l open messenger lite, it says "for this phone we recommend messaging on Facebook Lite - no need for two different apps" so I uninstalled the messenger app. Then when l tried to open my messages in the facebook lite app, it says "messaging is now in a separate app!" And asks me to download messenger.

Before, my device has Messenger app. But I uninstalled it and download the lite version so that my storage will have space. Now I can't install messenger. I don't know why so I don't have choice but to download this lite version. My only problem with this why I gave it just 3 stars is because it doesn't have video calls for group chat. I feel as if that app deserved 3 stars from using it a few days. I’ve had it on other phone but I just recently started using it again on this one. I gave it a 3 because there is no option to voice chat with more than 1 person. I feel as if the time is getting near that this app should have that feature to out do competitors. Discord has a voice chat that allows more than 1 person to join and I think that they are below this app. Please add that feature. If you do, I will be willing to give it a 5 star rating. I like that you can have a group text chat but voice allowing multiple people is better for those who want to have prayer with more than one person. If you are a developer reading this, please respond to me to let me know you were interested in my feedback and please recommend to your higher up. Please reassure him I am willing to give this app a 5 star rating if they add a voice chat that allows multiple people to join. Bless all who read these words.

Although I have connected with some amazing people through this app and love the fact that I can connect with people all over the world this app is not a dating app and people need to be respectful of that. I’m not on messenger to hook up with people and receive numerous messages and random calls from people during all times of the day and night. I do understand I can shut my phone off or use my sleep setting on my phone but have had a parent experiencing some health issues and don’t want to shut my phone down as I may need to take a call or message at anytime. The other thing I don’t like is that people know the second I connect to Facebook or messenger and become active on the sight. Sometimes I just jump on to check something out for business purposes and get bombarded with messages. It would be nice to have the ability to get online without the world knowing I’m there.

  • Add Callers Catastrophe Jul 30, 2020

    By VixenHBear🧸
I’m generally on Messengers facetime 24/7, not exaggerating, but the add a contact option is horrible. There’s already a button at the bottom of the screen for adding another person to the call, so then why have the swipe up feature? It’s too easy to swipe up and open all of your contacts, then accidentally add someone to the call without even a confirmation “yes/no” button. I’m constantly adding people to the call that I did not want to and usually in the most embarrassing times.... One time, the person I was on call with fell asleep and somehow touched their phone and added over 20 people to the call, back-to-back, in just a few seconds, waking everyone up in the middle of the night. It’s embarrassing and frustrating. I’ve sent messenger this same message over and over in the “report a problem” section for months and I’m still waiting to see it corrected. And what’s worse is you never receive a reply back from any of those messages if they have been received or even being considered. Please fix this feature!

    (1) Sending images / video is not helpful. They are sent immediately if you select them from your phone storage. They should first appear in the messenger app and should get sent only after user taps the send button. (2) Pop-ups disappears automatically. Pop-ups should be manually dismissable.

    (1) Photos get send directly. The app doesn't ask for send confirmation. When I select a photo it gets sent instantly. (2) When you tap the messenger icon on any Facebook page it doesn't open this app. Instead, it opens play store and suggests you to download the 37MB messenger app. (3) Self disappearing in-app pop-ups are not helpful.

  • Why not Apple CarPlay like messages has Jan 22, 2020

    By Jeff horn
Hello how is everyone doing? I’m wondering why messenger isn’t up to date with everyone else. I’m sure others have the same thoughts, A lot of individuals use this service to call and message others along with maps people send others when they are trying to meet and for products and merchandise just for an example. Why can we not have this app sync with our vehicles like the phone and messages app that Apple have in place. This would be a very nice update to an increasingly popular app. Not only that, but it would make us, yes even yourselves safer on the road. After all isn’t that what we all strive for, I know your users strive for this on a daily basis. Please if you would, look into this. I for one drive a very huge truck 2016 F350 dually FX 4 lifted & oversized tires for work purposes. I am a safety officer so I especially know safety is of the utmost concern no matter what we do as a society. I for one love my Sync3 system and would love to be able to use it to keep us all a little safer.

Facebooks messenger app is a pointless application—everyone already has free text messaging and pays for cell phone service, so why create a new application (for things like virtual yard sale) and ask for permissions to text and call? I find it absolutely absurd that I have to download an app to view messages from a web based platform. (No I DO NOT have the FB app, thank you.). Not only that but the two rarely communicate efficiently. After you check messages in the app, FB profile will still show a messages notification. On top of that every time you use it asks for notifications to be turned on (why? When FB should be notifying you?) and asking for permission for microphone and camera. The app drains battery power when you do have notifications turned on especially in group chats—pinging every time there is a new comment. I’m not sure what a good use for this app is—it should be reintegrated back into Facebook and allow users to check messages from the web based platform.
