  • Been around... worth it. Nov 23, 2020

I had been married for 10 years and felt confused about how to find a solid guy. My friends said try online dating so I did. Over the years I have tried several sites... Hinge, Tinder, Jdate, elite singles, zoosk, OKC, Bumble... in that time- 5 years - I went on a handful of dates but never really met anyone that stood out. Out of all of my time on those sites in the end I dated one person exclusively for a few months and wound up with some “texting buddies”- some of whom I have kept in touch with periodically, but never anything more than that. That is until Match. The truth is I had given up. I thought all the good guys were taken. I spent 2 months and 3 weeks on Match and although had a lot of interest- A LOT of interest - hadn’t really felt a connection with anyone. That is until my last week. Just when I was about to give up- I met the greatest most loving beautiful man. Now my life has been turned upside down in ways I couldn’t have imagined. What I would say is, don’t give up, and be willing to play with the geography. In the end when I opened up the miles to allow for more matches it made an enormous difference! Also I like match because you can be very particular about what you want and don’t on the front end. Also there’s no question people are more looking for serious relationships not just to hook up. Good luck and don’t give up! Match works. If you want a serious relationship it works. That’s the bottom line.

I've enjoyed the app, however, it can get glitchy when trying to send a message. Sometimes you click send twice because it looks like the send button didn't register, but then the message all of a sudden pops up as delivered twice. I seem to be meeting men that I would meet if in the opportune meeting place so it seems that algorithm is working well hahaha

  • Mac in customer service is awesome!! Feb 22, 2020

    By JCodyB77
I just recently became a paying member about a month ago. I wasn’t finding very many matches, mostly due to the area I live in being smaller. I wasn’t getting very many responses despite me being very intentional about reaching out to what little potential matches I would find or receive. As a paying member I was offered free dating coaching. I decided to try it out. It was a Friday night and I had no other plans. LOL! Anyway, Mac answers the phone with a very friendly and encouraging tone, and we start chatting. We looked at my profile together, discussed what was great and what could be better, and discussed how I was reaching out to potential matches, and if I was saying the right things (I was 😉). We discussed demographics and other ways to increase traffic and responses. We also talked about the fact that there are a lot of people on the site that are not paying members. They can still read your messages, but they cannot respond. There is a service that they offer, for a monthly fee, where your matches can respond to your messages! We discussed this in detail as well. The phone session was very pleasant and I learned a lot. I was starting to get a bit discouraged, but Mac was great at encouraging and helping me out. Thanks again Mac!

There's a good amount of people on this app if you live near a major city (as far as I know). If you want to get the most out of it, however, you HAVE to put money down, which is really disappointing. Sometimes the app will crash if you message just the right amount of people... Inconsistent standards & formula, too. Way too many E-mails; I tried to turn the settings off & nothing happen. Impossible to contact the admins for help at all.

  • Will not let users delete their profiles Jun 17, 2020

I am very disappointed that, unlike most other apps (e.g. Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid), Match does not allow you to delete your profile. You can cancel your subscription, or make your profile invisible, but you cannot delete it. This means that, (a) they’re keeping your data forever, and (b) they are creating incentives for you to return to the app. Dating apps make money by keeping people on the apps as long as possible - in this case, by luring people back to the app, because if you find love through their platform and delete your account, that’s the point where they stop profiting from you. Although the practice of not allowing users to delete their profile is not illegal as far as I can tell, it is essentially kidnapping of your data and your online identity. Even the much more casual apps like Tinder do not do what Match does. This hijacking mentality of Match disgusts me. UPDATE: Bumping from 1 to 3 stars as after contacting customer service, someone was able to delete my profile by hand. However, the process is still manual and in my case took approximately a week. It would be nice if this could be automated and users given the ability to do so themselves.

I have used match on and off for many years. In my view the value for the money is just not there. Yes, you will mostly avoid fake users, but you will pay for that. Free users cannot message at all. You cannot tell who or who is not a premium user. [Male perspective] If you live in a city that has say a bit less than 1 million people, reconsider subscribing. Avoid selfies. Write an interesting/funny but semi short bio. Think VERY hard on what your ice breaker message will be. This company is a Monopoly, it has virtually bought out every successful dating service out there. They OWN online dating. I am currently out of the online dating game, Taking a long break. As my subscription has expired recently, suddenly I got likes and messages, from blurred profiles. MAGIC! come sign up again! total BS. Did I mention after you put you CC info in you cannot remove it from their hands? But who knows, you could meet someone on it.

I’m updating my review to tell you all how bad the “free” version is.... you can’t see anything, do anything, send messages or receive message or read anything or talk to anyone or ANYTHING!! And they charge a freaking fortune!! $40 stupid dollars to send a sentence to someone? This is bull****. All the other apps at least let you send a sentence. Or if they want you to pay it’s not $40 freaking dollars. I’m a “woman seeking woman” and tons of men show up in my filters. So I talked to them and they said “oh you need to report those profiles...” so I did... over and over and over again. Probably 40-50 reports so far? Waste of my time. I edited my profile once and added some info about my likes and it got denied. After the staff reviewed my edit and denied it, they said I was “revealing too much personal information”....ummmm I added that I liked hiking. So if you can review and deny edits such as mine you can review and deny profiles of men posing as women.... Also I get the same people cycled through my “discover now” tab. So people I have X’d out multiple times keep showing up in my search. And also people I have “liked” or messaged also keep showing up so in order to get past it I have to either like or X them once again. And I’m paying for this? When I reported these issues they weren’t much help. Fix your algorithm. And the men showing up are the most annoying. Review demographics.... as much as you reviewed my “I like hiking” and denied my edit.

Huge scam that keeps adding charges. You have to pay to send messages, then pay again to allow someone to send you messages back. They did give me a free 6 months after I received no messages in the first 6 months, but it didn't help anything. They auto-banned me for sending messages to too many people so I had to call and have my profile reinstated. Just a bunch of hassle and money down the drain for zero conversations or dates in 12 months. Don't invest in Match.

Thought it was going well and was actually finding women I wanted to chat with. Had a paid subscription. Then out of nowhere, my account was blocked for no reason. I called customer support (the number to call is hidden. Must do some research to find it) ,received no explanation over the phone and said they would be back with me in 24 to 48 hrs and would reply via email. It took more like 5 days to get back with me. The only explanation by the email I received was it was in the best interest of the Match community due to the terms of use. That’s bs, a pre-generated email, and a cop-out to elude the question. They never gave me any good reason. I never did anything that I know of to cause this. I had deleted my account once before I had a paid subscription and tried to use the same email when I signed up for paid but it wouldn’t let me in even though their email said I could just pick up where I left off. Not true! So I used another email. I don’t know if that was why they blocked me but if it was they are relying too much on the computer system to make decisions because it may have seen it as a duplicate. Another thing is that a lot of the profiles seem to be fake and are only there to spark your interest in paying for a subscription. I will never use Match again and do not recommend anyone to use it.

So I came here to give my Match Coach a glowing review, just to be pleasantly surprised that he has this same impact on others as well! I called to receive consultation for general dating advice, such as moving too fast, not ignoring red flags (or intuition), and giving others the benefit of the doubt by being willing to engage in difficult conversations; all tips that Mac was able to provide! Mac was superb in his guidance and was able to offer the advice in a nonjudgmental and unbiased manner. He was also able to set a personal tone for the conversation while still maintaining a high level of professionalism. Truly, there is no wonder as to why his experiences with other customers has already been highlighted as a “top rating”, and I couldn’t agree more! I hope he is recognized internally for his expertise in this field, especially since a lot of people are looking to connect online these days (#Quarantine 😩). Thank you very much for your service, Mac! Keep up the good work, the world needs you! Lol P.S. 5 Stars are not enough!!

Match is much more legitimate than the other dating apps. There's alot of people on here, and it's nice that the app won't show people from states away when you search within a specified distance. I've chatted with a couple real ladies, and hopefully someone will eventually come along who I click with. Just gotta be patient. Very good dating app!

I picked up Match after having tried Zoosk, EmilyDates, and Adult Friend Finder, none of which succeeded for me. I didn’t like the women who liked me, and the people I liked didn’t like me back. At Match , a similar pattern atarted to emerge. I was liking a number of women 20 years or more younger than me. That weren’t responding to my messages, though. So I took advantage of a feature Match offers members: Free Dating Coaching. I called them up and spoke with a warm, polite woman named, Olivia. I explained my issue with messaging, and she gave me three clear and simple points to put into practice to improve my message results. Then we went over my photos and my profile. Olivia gave me constructive, useful and clear feedback in thise areas too. This is a really good feature of Match. I would rate Match higher than other sites as a result.

Gives space to introduce yourself fair enough--not too much, not too little. Leaves some to curiosity. Would like a bit more free space, but the structure helps to introduce. Just wish messaging each other was allowed for the paying customer--already paid a subscription and have to pay more for someone to email me back? Update: yes I can read messages from others IF they are also paying members. But nope. I have to pay for non-premium folks. Semantics.

The Match process is not extremely fine tuned, you basically get quantity over quality in my opinion. For some people that should be fine, but for me it’s not ideal. I paid too much to swipe through tons of women I have 0 interest in. Also, I am a Christian so obviously it is important to me to find that in someone else. I wish there was a way to mark if someone is practicing their faith or not. I digress. It seems like Match attracts a low-end clientele in my area (southeast). Maybe I’m one of them..., jk. In all seriousness, per usual, if you are in an urban area it’s probably fine. If you are like me and in a less densely populated place, good luck, because you will need it. I ended up finding much more attractive AND more genuine women on UnitedPursuit and Hinge. Just my 2¢. Overall, it’s a good app for most people, but I’m not most people.

The men on Match are less than desirable. Pick a different dating service in hopes of getting a better dating pool. I paid for six months up front and really wish I had done a monthly subscription so I could have cancelled. I called a little after a month of being on the app and was advised they would only refund me $24 of the $150+ I paid for a 6 month subscription. If you like old unsuccessful men, missing teeth, mohawks made of the remnants of hair on a balding man's head this is your app.

If you start a conversation while on the paid subscription, the conversation will be inaccessible when the subscription expires. So, if you have a good conversation going and you let the subscription expire, that conversation is basically held for ransom. This is, of course, a terrible feature for a dating app.

From my experience I do not recommend the mobile app. One time I tried to delete my account and on the mobile app you can not. I purchased the 6 month subscription and I am stuck with the remainder of the subscription. In other words if I found someone my profile will cycle through as if it’s still active. Use a computer or the actual website. You can delete account on there only if that is how you set it up. Mine was solely through mobile. Another time I wanted a break and deleted my profile pictures and about a week later logged back in to see what was missed. My pictures were not deleted as previously believed. So, with only 9 more days left on my subscription it worries me that my profile will still cycle through where others believe I’m active or hackers can possibly use my pictures. Many of the women on here really don’t seem to be ON here. Profiles are real, but never expired/deactivated. Hopefully mine will, but who knows.

I paid for the membership. It's many on there who can't talk back, Match asks for additional money on top of the monthly fee to pay for others to reply back. There are no refunds by the way, when you sign up for 6 months you pay for 6 months regardless of people get back to you. Basically this app is definitely for trendy cute people. I am 42 yo guy, two months I have not had one person converse or meet. I had more luck on free apps. Not recommended. $$$$$$$$
