Wish I could give 0 Stars. I have been both a paid and free version member in the past. I used to really like the app it was simple to navigate and in general ran pretty smoothly. Now after the update at the beginning of 2021 the app is slower than dial up internet, trying to scan doesn't bring up the right product, searching for the product by it's exact name is slow and arduous, trying to adjust the servings is a nightmare, none of my favorites saved, etc. My complaints sadly go on and on.

Before the update in December 2020 I would have given the app 5 stars for the free version. After update 1 star app is now complicated, dose not give accurate nutrition and card counts, serving sizes are inaccurate and the option to view edits done by other users to make minor corrections is no longer showing at all. Very disappointed. At this point no longer worth it for the free version, will not help you be successful.

I gave this app 5 stars when I installed July 2020. Latest version is glitchy, I can't share foods or recipes with my spouse now (we are both premium members), and I have to force stop the app every other time I log a food as the app just stops and freezes. Very frustrating for an app that worked just fine for a few months. Especially since I am paying for premium.

Original review: 4 stars for the free version. Very handy tool. Update: 1/7/21 I ended up paying for a subscription because I was pretty happy with it. Then the holidays came and I gave myself a cheat break. I didn't go crazy but well...you know how it goes. Today I logged back in to get back on track and WTH? Nothing looks the same. The information is overly fancy and crowed. Can't see my day accurately and had trouble entering my actual amounts. Gah! I hate the update. Waste of money.👎

This new update is terrible! The macros are all off, which is the entire purpose for using this app in the first place. It gets stuck on screens. And the food measurements are often incorrect even when you add the right measurements. Did the engineers not check for bugs? How was this rolled out without any quality check!? Mind you, before the update I had been using it for 5 months, every day religiously. It wasn't perfect but it was reliable and performed as intended. This update is a mess!

I lost 110lbs and kept it off for 2 yrs with CM. Loved it til the last updates. Now it wont connect to fitbit, values are wrong for individual foods (limit broccoli as its not keto friendly??), shows total and net carbs the same in setup, all making it useless. The worst tho is YEARS of personalizing it with my faves and my own recipes is ALL GONE! I've gone round and round with support which fixed nothing. Paid over $50 for the year and lost out on 5 months. Would give zero stars if I could.

New update toooo slow. I won't be renewing

I have the paid version. The update crashes my phone. You cannot add or edit food without a glitch. The update made an already subpar app somehow worse. I contacted customer service and they asked for advice on ways to make it better with a suggestion that the kinks will be worked out. How's about they have a functioning app considering they have paying consumers. THE WORST..

The app works fine, although it's getting slower to open each day after only 3-4 weeks use which is concerning. The 2* is for how un-user friendly the food database is. It either doesn't find item, or has recorded a serving in a format that's not helpful i.e. pineapple rings 80g is a serving?? How many rings is that?? My fitness Pal ( free) is soooo much friendlier, quicker to enter details. Very unhappy i paid £37 for 1 years subscription.

"updated". Previous info/settings changed somehow and the app would not correct it & I get an errors at various times. Figured out to go to website to fix and then shows up in app, including re syncing my fitbit app & Google fit (uses Samsung health info thru Health Sync app). The app is somewhat manageable now, but 2 of my sisters are trying to dwnld so we can make a group but 1 can't create an acct & the other will not complete, app just spins w/ Please Stand By. Really Disappointed!!

No free recipes..but it looks nice.
They say they offer free recipes but they don't, they only give recipes for the premium. And if they DO have free recipes then there is no way to actually tell which recipes are for premium and which are for free unless you tap on them. Also, when you click on the “search for a recipe” button, they give you a bunch of premium recipes on the front page so you’ll be scrolling for hours tapping and trying to find one for free which you probably wont be able to do. They have a search option, but no filters to go through either for the picky eats who are on a budget and looking for a quick recipe that a two year old would eat. With that said, I do like the set up when deciding your goals, and how they have an ease in feature. I also like how they keep track of your macros. And, in the exercise portion, they have SO many options that fit you! Like the “carrying a child over 15 lbs is upstairs.” And the “walking with a child” they don't just have a basic range of exercises they actually go in depth. With that said, I wish they would let us include how many flights we went up instead of for how many minutes we did it. -
Dishonest pricing
I had been using carb manager for a few months. I love it for tracking net carbs and finding out new recipes from other users. It would remind me daily about premium for $40 a year. I thought about it but figured I didn’t need it since I only was using it primarily for tracking net carbs. That was until I got a Fitbit. Which to sync it I needed to buy into the premium. I sucked it up to buy it. Which it a equivalent of 4 hours of my work day. Part of syncing you need to go into the site. Imagine my delight to find out just a matter of 10-30 second after purchasing it on the app and switching to online I was offered it for $30. Wait I just paid $40 for it.... so why offer the discount AFTER I paid for it? I figured I would reach out to costumer service. Joke! They won’t offer a refund of $10 due to inconvenience. They said they don’t offer the discount even if it was shown right after it was paid for.🙄. I am a manager in costumer service and let me tell you, that is not how you treat a costumer. I will be calling my bank to tell them to make sure the $40 gets cancelled. Along with forwarding this review to apple and Fitbit.

I am not happy at all with the new update. I had previously paid for the premium version so I could import recipes and since the update not a single recipe has imported correctly. I can't easily find my favorites anymore and trying to change the servings/amounts is way more trouble than it should be. When opening the app it is very slow to load. If I hadnt paid for it already I would be uninstalling.

Junk! That is the word that I'm using to describe this new update. They took a very functionally sound app and ruined it with their new and improved version. Why couldn't they just fix the bugs on the old app and leave well enough alone. Someone has to justify their existence by meddling with a nice app. I've been a paying customer for the last two years but that all ends now. As soon as my subscription runs out, I'm out... finding something else. This really pisses me off!
