Other reviews claiming this game is "too political" aren't taking into account the fact that a) this game is aimed at middle and high school-aged players, who need more media that engages with them on their level in an approachable way about current affairs so they can stay informed and involved and b) the creator of the game gave a statement before the mini-episode that automatically starts the game, saying they wanted to create a special mini-episode to help people (youth in particular) deal with a post-election America. That subject matter cannot be apolitical, by definition, and if urging people to care and be involved is preachy, then I don't know what to tell you. Aside from that, the representation in this game is great. None of the characters feel like a token, and the developers really made a gender- and culturally-inclusive game. Representation matters, and it's important that young people see people like them in our media so they know that they matter. So download the game. At least get past the protest-themed mini-episode and into the main game before writing it off. Gift it to a young person in your life. We need more inclusivity the game industry, and it's important we support the studios that are seeking to create change.

Where to begin? Well, I pretty much started this on Monday night. Pretty much played non-stop for four days and gotta say, BEST FOUR DAYS EVER! I haven’t experienced many games like this but the story for this was absolutely amazing. What I really want, and many fans probably agree with this, is a season two. I want to explore high school as the main character and I want to see how the friends all stay together. I’d love to see new characters too. I understand that it’s hard to produce games especially considering money, but in honesty this game holds a rather big message that not many people except maybe someone with fresh experience. See I’m currently seventeen. For me, the last day of middle is a couple years ago, but I still visit those experiences. Now I wasn’t as nosy but I did look into stuff otherwise ignored. Anyways....getting off what is a crazy explanation and just going to cut this into simplicity, beautiful game, love the art, the stories, the responses, a season would be good but just take your time. Heck, let us know if you need support. But we’ll be here. You the developers have our (the players) support. And I just want to say thank you for making this game.

First off I’d like to say that this a wonderful game, the story is incredible and the characters, although being a bit cliche, are incredible. I love the support for the lgbtq+ community! You can pick your pronouns (non-binary being an option) and both avatars are neutral looking but still awesome! The only problems I have are that sometimes the grammar isn’t to good. It’s only a few minor mistakes but as someone that writes a lot I notice them and get slightly annoyed. Also, almost 2 dollars per chapter seems like a bit much. The chapters are long enough that it’s fine and you don’t have to keep spending money left and right but it can feel like a bit much. Still doesn’t take away from the wonderful art style and enticing story line! I also would like to add that the fact you can have a romantic relationship with the TURKEY is wonderful. The character development has been great so far and I’m exited to continue!

This is literally the best fricking game in the App Store. Being bi myself, I felt like this app gave me so many options! The only problems I DID have is that one, if I bought episode 2 and others, and I'm thinking about just buying all of them, I wish you could buy a bundle of the packs, and it wouldn't charge you for the ones you already purchased??? Secondly, The new special chapter with "President Lump" was great because it was FREE, but it made me a little uncomfortable because I know there are probably some people who supported "Lump" (I know this is a ripoff of Trump) I understand no one has the exact same views, so I won't share my opinion... but I would like y'all to know, I think it's showing that the company is very one sided on political-ness (lol not a word) I'm not saying I agree or disagree; I just don't want political issues to take over this LGBTQ+ game. Once again, this is my favorite game in existence! -A random bisexual reviewer

I love this app so so much and the fact that we can have our own sexual preferences near the end for the first episode. but, I would give it 5 stars but for the reason for that 1 star taken was because I have to pay for episode 2.. I do not have the money for the second episode.. I would rather have a time limit / 1 hour cool down for the next episode. Yet again I do not have the money to pay because I don’t know how to get money on me phone because I am a kid, and it would be so helpful. Another suggestion is that, use the gems/ diamonds/ coins to buy the episodes! And have the diamonds/gems/coins have a cool down break. I really want to know what happens instead of skipping to episode 9 because I can’t buy the other episodes, overall this is an amazing app and people should use it more

I haven't played the protest episode yet, but I play the main story. It was a bit pricey, but I understand where the devs are coming from. It's probably a good 5-10 hour game depending on speed of play. I loved the representation in this game. I'm so happy all around. I hope the devs release more storylines. I'd love to see it continued. I can tell they really cared about this project. Everything about it is beautiful. I may be a big too emotional sometimes, but this game made me feel the emotions of the character. Now don't get me wrong the game can use some work. There are a few spelling/grammar mistakes in the dialogue, but nothing so bad that took away from the story. There were times that I feel like the character wasn't really following how I wanted it to act, but I know it's hard to build in the many storylines to fit each player.
  • Nice story, pricey chapters Jun 21, 2019

I guess first and foremost I should say; I absolutely love the game. The art is cute, the characters and lovely, and while choices and reactions aren’t something I would do, you can’t please everyone. But to pay $1.99 per chapter is a bit much. I would much rather pay a $5.00 fee to buy the game then pay per chapter. The episodes aren’t long enough to be “worth” the cost and while I hate to say it, I’m probably not going to be buying episodes 5 and up unless I had an iTunes gift card. It’s something worth considering honestly, making all chapters one fee versus pay per chapter, especially because visual novels and dating sims on pc (and some on mobile) can be bought for under $10 and tend to be much longer (both overall and per part) But all that aside, the game is beautiful and encompasses teenage life wonderfully. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve done on it.

I love this game! It does things that other dating sims/Otome apps don't do. If you look up dating sims and Otome game on the iOS store, there are almost no LGBTQ+ games. Most of these games have a clear female protagonist and even the ones that are supposed to be BL (Boys Love) have a female protagonist. This game lets you pick a character and non-binary pronouns for those who use them. I do have a couple of issues with this game though. I do agree that there should be more customization options, and the text is very small and difficult to read. Also there are reviews that say that the game promotes "liberal ideas" the game is actually focusing on current events, it's NOT forcing you to agree with those ideas. The whole point of the game is to make your own love story.

This game is truly amazing, when I find games like choose your story, everyone is straight and has an automatic person they like but this is so much different. It supports lgtbq+ which is amazing and also being non binary. 2 things that could make the game better: 1, the money; it’s very expensive to play through and sometimes seemingly not worth it, I think it would be better with a few adds but lowered down I at least a dollar. 2, bugs; there are a few bugs here and there but a big one is being the skin with short hair when they are talking to Nora, some of Nora’s messages say they are on your side. Overall, this is a great game but being expensive is a problem for people who can’t afford that much on apps. I would much rather have a few adds.

  • This app is okay, but... Jan 3, 2020

    By Kelly Chen 🐰🌈
I downloaded this app because I really wanted to play a story game. I found this app and decided to download it. I played the first episode for a few hours and really liked it. Then, I came back to the episode page and saw that the 2nd episode costed $1.99! I was really depressed because I couldn’t afford it. (Yes, I can’t afford it and I have $0.00.) I really loved the app, but was heartbroken after seeing that you have to pay for episodes. If I have to watch an ad to get an episode, I would’ve done it by now and continued playing without writing a review! I was just so disappointed. There is one favor I have and I really want you to do it. (This is for the developer/developers.) My favor is can you please make the episodes free? You can make people watch an ad for a free episode if you want, but all I want is a way for the episodes to be free. Thanks for reading. - Sincerely, Kelly
  • Purchased all but two levels and it erased my progress Jul 3, 2018

    By mpbrennan
I downloaded this game within the past week after seeing it on the App Store main page with great reviews. I played two of the three game saves, both mostly through the game. I opened the game yesterday to find that all my progress, game saves, and purchases had been erased. Restoring purchased content did nothing, even after it acknowledged the success of my restoration. Upon clicking the “continue” button, I was repeatedly met with some error message about URL invalid story scripts, then the app would close itself. I saw great importance in the lessons of this game, and for such reason, was willing to purchase the chapter upgrades. Absolutely no chance under the Sun of paying for them twice though, and if given the option, I would request a refund for the chapters already purchased, being as all content/progress disappeared overnight and no updates (or option to report issues) have been presented. After reviewing previous reviews, it seems this app has had major long-standing technical errors over the course of its existence, so it’s a shame that this persists even after its recent feature on the home page.
  • About that “Bonus” Episode Jul 1, 2019

    By AppEnthusiast 119
Now after going through the first episode, my hopes were extremely high. We had a cast of great characters and an interesting story waiting to be unfolded. However, after going though the “Bonus” episode, my. high expectations crashed hard. Even though the bonus episode wasn’t supposed to be apart of the story, so much information was spoiled to me simply by reading it. The problems don’t stop their, What absolutely broke me was that the bonus was just a rehash of the 2016 election. Why do we need to talk about an election that happened over 3 years ago?! Not to mentioned how horrific and out of control some of these riots became. “Long Story” seems to be an incredible story of kids coming out and becoming a change in the world; but all that falls apart once politics are brought up. Next time, maybe talk about issues and events that are a little more recent and important.

...and ended up staying up all night and finishing the whole darned thing. Queer representation and inclusivity in games has rarely looked or felt so good. Themes of interpersonal conflict and relationship health are handled with grace and respect for today's youth, and queer identities are neither reduced to gimmicks nor possible to ignore. LongStory is a love letter to the young people of this generation, taking the genre of grade-school drama into the modern day not through its social media references or simulated texting (which is adorable, well-executed and very effective) but through the queerness and emotional maturity of its characters, both hallmarks of an age in which gender roles and relationship structures are being questioned and reshaped and children have access to more information than ever.

I really like the idea of the game, maybe the first game that I really loved the concept of it, I never like those type of games, but this one, it's just really cool and well made, haven't finished it yet, but definitely will! One problem tho.. I'm not sure if this is only for me, but, the game isn't like full screen, and for some reason there is no sounds whenever I'm in an episode, only sounds are in main menu and whenever I click on options, not sure if the sound thing is intentional, by having sound and music when playing will definitely make stuff feel better, the full screen part, maybe it's because I'm on the iPhone 6s Plus? not sure about that to be honest. over all the game is really cool and has a good story.

I never thought games like these were fun (episode, my story, etc) but once I installed this app and heard the music I was automatically attached. No game can express as much emotion, wit, beauty, and pure drama as this game. It shows how much they put into this game. Episodes may cost money but the temptation of this app will make every penny worth paying. It isn’t just about love, it isn’t just about drama, and it isn’t just about action, it is a beautiful mix of everything. I don’t know who shouldn’t love such a perfect game. This is the first 5 star rating I had given on an app and I don’t regret it. Whoever made this is a genius. I am in love with everything emotion, every friendship, and every fight this app can get into. I will never hate this, ever

Some of these reviews are disappointing. Imagine giving a bad review because something is “too political”. Just admit you’re homophobic and move on. ANYWAYS I think this game is beautiful in so many ways. The characters are POC, you actually have a choice on whether or not you want to fall in love with someone, the music is soo cute just so many things I could go on and on about. I’ve been playing this game for years because i couldn’t afford to pay for more chapters but now I can so I can finally finish the story! I do think you should find other ways to make the chapters cheaper because it is a lot but nonetheless you have a great game I hope you come out with more.

Another suggestion is that, use the gems/ diamonds/ coins to buy the episodes! And have the diamonds/gems/coins have a cool down break. I really want to know what happens instead of skipping to episode 9 because I can’t buy the other episodes, overall this is an amazing app and people should use it more

  • I love everything, but I have one problem Jun 30, 2021

I loved the first episode, that I can choose my pronouns, I can choose my love interest, love it. My only problem, is the fact that I would have to pay for the other episodes. Now normally I wouldn’t mind this, but I am unemployed, and as this is directed more to my age group, I was actually surprised that the episodes cost money. Now before I seem entitled, I want to say I know that the creator/s need to make money, but couldn’t they do ads instead? I don’t know about the rest of you, but I would happily watch 2 or 3 ads for an episode unlock, I would much rather do that then have to just outright pay. But this is the rambling of a 13 with no income, so don’t take my words with much weight.
  • Awesome game! Nov 29, 2019

This game is awesome, I love how you can pick what pronouns you use and what you look like. So far, the story is really good. My only problem with this game is that you have to pay $1.99 for almost all the chapters. That’s kind of expensive. I would love to know what the rest of the story is, but cant really pay for that. My suggestion is that to get to play the chapter, maybe instead of paying for each episode, have the person play an ad and it’s free for at least 18 hours or less. Whatever you think is good. And once the time is up, you have to watch an ad again to play it. Other than that, I love how it’s lgbt+ friendly! I hope they make more games like this! The story is really good so far. ^^b

  • This app is okay, but... Jan 3, 2020

  • Purchased all but two levels and it erased my progress Jul 3, 2018
