Amazing app, very accurate and easy to use, rarely do I have to fall back on a tapping method.

I’ve been using this app for almost 4 years while Playing in a 24 piece big band. I Had a few people inquiring how I keep such a good time after last nights rehearsal. I pointed directly to this app and claimed, not only does it keep me honest, but I have proof when the band doesn’t listen well! Lol ! Seriously, this app has saved a few arguments with the Director!! I have never tested its accuracy to a click. However, it’s very very close. And when the band decides a tempo feels good, this app is gold to help repeat that bpm for the next performance if we wish. I’ve been meaning to write a review of this app for a long time. The interest from other band mates last night and the nice comments I received about holding the band together (I’m the Drummer) told me it was time to write this review. Thank you to the developer, your work is very much appreciated.

Just wow! I spent half an hour trying to get the BPM out of a song in Serato DJ and it was failing I even tried tap tempo,And that was failing as well, and then I turned on this appp and Wham it started to work within seconds. It could have saved me half an hour of frustration. Once again kudos to whoever developed this

Not so many musicians have a perfect feel for tempo. “We” as base players and drummers are the guides. This app is a must have and it closes out the complaints from singers and other not perfect timers. I (the drummer) set the tempo for the band. Without the app I was not able to SHOW the factual tempo and that is where it gets annoying sometimes. Now the tempo played is not a “feeling” anymore but a fact. Made my live easier. And I can see when I screw up before anybody else 😉. And yes sometimes the singer of solo players want some freedoms, that’s fine too! We than can show them how much freedom we gave them.

Picked this up around 2012 and event though it was last updated in 2017, it still works on my pixel 4 with current Android. Very dependable and worth every penny.
  • Detecting a click tract bpm May 16, 2020

I use it only to detect the click track count in for the backing tracks I purchase. Some producers publish the tempo but most don’t which makes it unclear visually where sections start and stop. I can have it listen to the count off click audio, set the discovered bpm in Reaper, load a track and see how it lines up many bars down the line. If the tune is played in good time, everything will line up visually and the snap function will be useable. Live bpm worked perfectly for this simple task.

original: Priceless tool for musicians! update: I would give this all the stars. Easily the most valuable music app. I put it on an old android and velcro'ed it to my wall. I never listen to anything without looking at it. It's changed my life. I'm not sure what's in the long-promised v2.0 but I'm very curious. I'm hoping it will be able to analyze the subdivisions once it establishes the BPM, thus showing the swing percentage for funk, hip-hop et al.

Works again! Accurately detects bpm every time. I am a professional DJ and have been using this app for years. Perfect for auditioning tracks and getting quick accurate bpm. Great for live shows. Detect bpm of dj on before you! A quick note. App stopped working with IOS 14 update so I deleted. Tried other apps that all sucked so I installed this one again, authorized app to use microphone and it’s working again!!!! So happy. Hope this helps someone else:)

Works with entire drum set, you start playing and it reads out the BPM after about four seconds then you just glance down at it once in a while to see how you're doing. This is a must have! Even recordes a graphical display,. The first time I tried it after about 5 minutes, I looked down and I was rushing about 6 BPM I couldn't believe it! I checked it against a metronome and it's spot-on. After about an hour I could stay within one BPM after 10 minutes playing. Easily worth 4 times the price

I’m a professional musician specializing in traditional folk music from many countries. I downloaded this AP just now and tested it playing my hurdy gurdy. I’m afraid it doesn’t work at all with 3/8 — even with a loud, steady pulse from the dog (the buzzing bridge on the gurdy), though it had no problems with tunes in 2/4 and 4/4. I then played samples of recorded music — Irish, Old Time, etc. It can barely handle 6/8 if there is a loud guitar in the mix, not on solo fiddle or pipes; and it gets totally confused with recordings of Hungarian, Balkan music, etc. Too bad, I had high hopes.

I've used this now for a couple of years as I play drums. Though my tempos are pretty consistent, the band I was with at the time needed me to be even more so. Since using LiveBPM and it has changed my drumming life. I have it installed on my android phone so it is with me all time; I never play a gig without it. At first I wanted to look at it constantly, but now I just glance at it when I feel a change to check myself. But it's not a metronome that you follow, it follows you. So it has helped me by allowing me to feel my speeding up or slowing down and make the adjustment. Kind of like letting me make the mistake and fix it instead of dictating what it wants me to do. A must for any drummer since we are the keepers of the time! BTW Daniel, how about versions for Windows and Linux?
  • Awesome app Apr 29, 2018

    By tak3000
I downloaded this app a few days ago and have been playing with it ever since. If there was some way to calculate the average tempo over what it recorded and displayed the lowest BPM/highest BPM over that period would be great. These numbers could be used for all sorts measurements making it easier to see improvement over time.

This is a great app. I don't usually pay for apps but this is so worth it. Really helps me pull back and not freight train a song. Split screen would be quite helpful so I can have it next to the music instead of using 2 devices. Metronome? Maybe that defeats the purpose? Still, I would use it if it were there.
  • Worth it May 2, 2019

Sometimes you just need to quickly know the BPM of a song, and you do not have the time (or the mind!) to do the math. It’s annoying that the orientation is landscape. A bit more difficult to hold with one hand and operate.
  • Jan 14, 2019

    By Chris Milillo
Seems to work quite well. Didn't realize it was landscape orientation only. On gigs, I mount my tablet in landscape mode, but use my phone in portrait mode (for set lists). Please add portrait orientation option.

  • Love using this app. Jun 20, 2017

I'm a performing drummer and use this app to help keep an eye on the bands tempo. It really is unique in listening to the tempos and displaying them. I would recommend it. There are few things that could use updating. But overall it is a winner.

I use it all the time for mixing my records. It never fails! Giving it a 4 since it could have a better interface, perhaps some digital-looking font and a “night mode”.

Would be 5 stars but...after using it twice in a day it comes up a blank screen when trying to open the app. I even tried a force close. The only thing that fixes the issue is a restart of the device. I am an android user on the Samsung Galaxy S9 plus. This happened on my previous device as well.
  • Used to work better? Feb 18, 2020

    By ninamamal
I have used this app for a couple of years, and in general it works great. More and more frequently though, it gets stuck at 140 BPM, no matter what the actual beat of the song is. If I delete it and re-load it it’s fine, but it’s happening more & more frequently. :-(
  • Decent, not very fast though Dec 20, 2018

    By FearlessPandas
This seems like a decent tool for recording speed at lower tempos. However it only seems to effectively measure tempo ranges below roughly 200 bpm. I personally bought this to measure drum roll speed, but sub 200 bpm is way to slow to for any reasonable roll. So for what it can do it’s a fine app, just don’t expect to measure a 800 bpm roll on this with any real accuracy.

when I first saw this app I pretty ecstatic, however as I used it my thoughts on it changed and now i'm like eh it's ok. this thing tends to have a slight delay on. Even with the few flaws it's still a pretty good thing to use as assistance.
