Before you download this app you should know that this isn't a free learning tool, it's a subscription service with a free demo. The personal coaching is NOT free, it costs 4.99 a month or 34.99 a year, and accessing the library of lessons without restriction is behind a paywall as well. Other than that, the features are user friendly and somewhat helpful as a beginner, but the personalized feedback left something to be desired.

There are a number of issues which this app. For example in the capture and defend you can move your piece accross the board as you wish but your opnent stays static all the time. So what's the point of capturing your opponent if you can't see how the opponent will react to your moves.

Fails at many levels
This app seemed decent at first, but it is severely flawed. As several other reviewers have pointed out, it just drops material for no apparent reason at some point, often putting a piece en prise. It also gives inaccurate advice ,e.g., it has missed moves that often lead to mate quicker than the move that Doc Wolf suggests when you press the '?'. I ignored it's bad advice and won in 15 moves in one game and it claimed I had made 4 mistakes! It had suggested Nh6 was a better move in a position where Nh6 made absolutely no sense. No way to report such issues either, I tried. You also can't save or review complete games. This makes me very suspicious as it prevents users from running their own analysis of a game. Maybe Dr Wolf's analysis is suspect? Also, how can you label this a teaching program when you can't even ask it for an explanation or an engine eval? Finally, the ratings are a joke. Just read some of the other reviews. -
Frozen bug
I started playing this app to learn the rules of the game. The AI started giving weird move suggestions without any explanation of why it was suggested. Then during one of my first games the program just froze. I did a hard reboot on it and now the system is frozen on the last move of the last game but it is acting like there is a fresh game on the board. I am unable to clear this and have to uninstall it from my iPad, losing all progress.

Too many bugs
Many bugs made this app unplayable. Worst of all is when the pieces on the board do not reset from lesson to lesson making it impossible to understand the current challenge. -
Don’t like the new changes with current version
It is more aggressive and difficult than before. It also interrupts you during play, but always it seems in the wrong way. Some advice is detrimental if followed. Such as losing a valuable piece while following advice to bring out all key pieces in the development. It sometimes make blunders, sacrifices and interrupts expected game play for openings only for the sake of pushing a Tactical chess concept. This used to be a good program and they really screwed it up. I will not continue the subscription. Addendum - new version as of 1/20/21 is totally screws up. New rating system is awful. And I am SO tired of this game throwing valuable piece like Queen, Rook , night and bishops away. Plenary of opportunity to take a queen with a pawn. Unbelievable- I have had it with this game and am now finally looking ealsewhere for something better. -

Don’t install this
You can’t delete this app on iOS 14. You can only ‘remove from home screen’ but you have no choice to remove the app completely. I disabled all rights it had to my phone. Shady as it gets!
