OMG, what happened to iTargetPro? Jun 11, 2021

    By Butch Ammon
iTargetPro... What did you do? I loved the old version with my Samsung Galaxy 7 (Android) smartphone and my beloved 1911 .45 ACP and never EVER had a problem with it! Bullseye, Quick Draw, etc... everything was perfect... All of the sudden, for some reason, Android and/or Google Play Store or whatever on my phone decided to automatically update iTargetPro with the new version 2.0.4 and everything I loved about the App is now gone. CHANGE IT BACK....

Guess it's not just me not liking the "update" Mar 22, 2021

    By Chuck Meyer
The old version worked Great, NO problems. Now, things freeze up, the overlay comes and goes, automatic overlay does not always work, but worst of all, I can ONLY use the supplied target. It won't pick up a shot on a dark colored section of a target. I used to use a target with a black bullseye to make it easier to see - No more. If I knew, I never would have updated the app! I hope they fix this or I'l probably put it on ebay.

Why did they change a good thing? Mar 11, 2021

Everyone on this page seems to have the same opinions. Is iTargetPro listening? We also emailed the company and all we got was a recommendation to watch the youtube instructional vids. Of course they work flawlessly on an edited vid. In person? Ha! Set up is hard. Finding the menu and clearing screen out is impossible. Deleting old data? Good luck with that. Sync sound with laser light? Nope. And don't get me started on the new glare warnings. Do we have to practice in a closet?

Great but it won't save pics as promised Jan 17, 2021

I love the app. I love the dry shooting capability. I love being able to get off 100 or more shots a day to fine tune my aim. This would be the PERFECT app, except every time I try to take a pic to save it, the app crashes. Every. single. time. I'm still glad I bought it, and I would recommend, but dang....I really wish I could share some pics with my friends and family.

I heard about this system on a podcast so I checked it out. Looked like it would work and was substantially less expensive than the high end trainers. Got it today and spent a few hours with it. Although it’s not perfect, I doubt it can be beat for the cost which is why I’m giving it 5 stars. In my living room, there are 6 can lights and the target reflects those pretty easily so I had a few tries to get the settings right to stop the fake hits, however, I was able to adjust it out and spent an hour or so working with it. My groups weren’t bad to start but in that short time, I was able to really separate trigger movement from barrel movement and improve. I moved it to a few rooms with other types of lights and had no fake hit problems, so I’m fairly certain the bright spot directly under one of the can lights was the reason for my initial adjustment needs and would likely be a worst case scenario. The adjustments for my iPhone 6 in the cradle were also not perfect but did work with a little fine tuning. Also, with a little tinkering to get the wires to get to the phone, I think I can hook my phone via HDMI and put the screen up on the TV so that I can see the display from far away. This will make a great training tool for the off season and I like it so much I just bought one for my father for Christmas.

So I just got the set up yesterday and messed around with it for an hour. I started in the living room with relatively low light since my wife was watching tv. No real issues with false readings. Main issue with accuracy was due to movement on my part when depressing the trigger. It actually was nice to visually see how much movement I had when firing. After a few shots I was seeing less and less movement of the laser and more accurate readings. After a few minutes my wife wanted to try it out but she wanted more light on so she could see the target rings more clearly. I turned on the overhead fan light and started getting false readings from the reflection on the target. After maybe 2 min tops of adjustments, it was working perfectly again. Only issue then was after I pushed the start button my shadow went over the target and I got a false reading. I just needed to watch where my shadow was as I backed away. Having a 5 sec starter delay for you to get into position would solve that issue. Overall I give it 5 stars. It was fun, informative, and easy to troubleshoot when the lighting changed and false readings showed up. An app like this will require some fine tuning on the user end before it works perfectly so I would recommend this system to everyone. Thanks.

I was actually having the same issues when I first got it a lot post on here.. shots not registering, issues with lighting conditions, ghost shots registering. This is the response I received and if you follow these steps you will have no issues. Main thing being to zoom in on target so the only thing in the picture is the target! From Developer - 1) Make sure the phone camera is not seeing off of the target plate and is only seeing the target image. Anything in the background could be interfering with the shot detection. 2) Make sure the light on the target plate is an even light. No bright areas and shadows on the target plate at the same time. Make sure the room has normal lighting and is not too dark. Don't use it directly under overhead lights. 3) Make sure there is no reddish light illuminating the target. The app responds to the color red. 4) Press the wrench image to go to settings. This is the main screen for adjusting the sensitivity. If you see any white showing up here, that area is being detected as a hit and your laser won't be. Raise or lower the sensitivity to eliminate any white. Ideally, you want to raise the sensitivity as much as possible without introducing the white noise. Take the laser in your hand and shine it at the target plate. The laser should show up as a white hit and everything else should be black. After I adjusted these things, zero issues.
  • Nice system Feb 16, 2021

I have used my system several times now. The laser cartridge works perfectly, the sled/base only needing a phone holder with more adjustment to be perfect as well. My 8+ fits without its case but not with, I actually have a phone (selfie) holder I’m using instead of the base. As for the app, it took a few minutes to get the settings where I needed, as well as the indoor lighting. Definitely don’t have it under direct light or it will start scoring based on that. So take a few mins to get it set correctly and it should be fine. But once i had the settings and surroundings set, the rest went as expected. With the high cost and low availability of ammo (and limited range access at times) this system will pay for itself soon enough. And it can be fun to get back to practicing, including being able to work on more than ranges often allow. So for now i’d give it 4 stars (close to 5), for me it was definitely worth getting.

I’ve had the iTarget Pro system for a couple weeks now and I’m loving it so far. As far as I know, this is the best training system of its kind. I’m already able to see an improvement in my trigger control, accuracy and confidence in my EDC. Setting the proper light sensitivity is crucial for accurate scoring but even slight lighting changes caused by moving shadows and other factors can cause false hits. Adjusting sensitivity, however, is very easy and is a non-issue. I opted to upgrade to the paid version for the Quick Draw feature. I love this! I enjoy challenging myself to get faster and more accurate. After each shot set, the app displays your cumulative score, but one feature that’s missing is an average time for each shot. Please consider adding this feature on the next update. Looking forward to seeing the High Score feature implemented as well.
  • A fantastic dry fire training tool! Apr 4, 2017

Before iTargetPro my live fire groupings were 2-3 inches (essentially tactical accuracy) at 24 feet. Two months of dry fire training with iTargetPro and now my live fire groupings are one inch or less at 24 feet. I've gained experience on trigger control, proper grip of my firearm, acquiring a sight picture, understand flash sight picture, firing from close range, acquiring sight picture with both eyes opened, and so much more. A total of 4,383 rounds of laser fire over a two month dry fire training period saved me $1739 dollars of live fire .45ACP ammunition cost. Bottom line, could I have done the same with live fire training? Yes, but it would have cost me $1739 dollars to gain the same experience. Highly recommended product for anyone wanting to improve his or her firearm training.

  • Pretty good target practice. Feb 23, 2018

    By Robcal83
Overall this is worth it. I would recommend to the developer. To change a few minor things. On the Quickdraw game add a countdown at the start. If I am shoot from a distance of more than 2ft I need to be able to get ready at my desired distance. Also on the score that pops up after you shoot, change the color or add a border, plain red can sometimes be hard to see against a white target. When snapping the photo of the target i can’t get the photo to turn out very well. It’s either too dark or too light and sometimes it has a green effect on it. I have tried to adjust the light conditions in the room but no dice.

Ordered this product and it arrived in mere days. Set up was super easy and worked flawlessly with iPhone 8. Spent the extra $4.99 for the QuickDraw shot timer. It works great too. Notice the number of positive reviews vs. negative. I’m not denying some folks may have been disappointed but the greater number of responses are positive and rightly so. Terrific product especially for the price point. Have used on my Sig Sauer 225A1 as well as my Sig P365. Might even give it a go with a Ruger PC9 Carbine outdoors just to see what happens. I’ll post result later. Hope I do as well when next at the range as I did using iTarget Dryfire System👍 -B

Iphone 7. Had some issues getting used to how it is set up, but once I figured it out it works great. Seeing some negative comments/reviews here I could say the only one which I would sympathize with is making the holes less "ragged", and smaller, perhaps, but that would not be enough to downgrade to 4 stars. Friend has a Laserlyte system he paid almost 3x as much for, and it doesn't give you a record of how you performed. If you are considering a laser system, get this one -- the whole system costs less than the Laserlyte Bullet. Sometimes you pay less and get more.

This app used to be great. I just bought a new aimpoint compms4 and i came back to this app to get the optic sighted to have it closer for when i go to the range. I have used this app multiple times before this new version to sight red dots. The app is now unusable. I draw my own target and it doesn't even sense it. Then it doesn't allow me to make target size bigger like it used to. Not only that but it isn't placing the bullet hole where laser hits.Seriously how did you all mess this up!!

My GF bought this for me in Dec for Christmas and it worked great. Haven't used it in a while and got a new phone. Now I cannot get it to work. Screen is completely different. Cannot set up the target. It just keeps going off without even shooting. Don't get thr screen to choose Bulls Eye or Quick draw like before and does not have the target match up like the old screen. Everything is different. Very disappointed.

I have owned this system for over a year. I was using it all the time then, put it down for a while. I then open the updated version and now have to pay for quick draw? How about the original features remain free with purchase of equipment and additional features can be upgraded? How did I have quick draw already and now have to pay for it?

Wow, this has to be the most frustrating thing ever. Auto target doesn't work, manual doesn't work, it just doesn't work. And when you're lucky enough to get it to register a shot, it's not even close to where the laser hit. I followed all the directions about lighting and sensitivity but nothing... I'm hoping they can fix this, if so I'll update the review

When I first got the app it was great. And having used many other laser training apps, I can for sure say this one was the best, but after these updates it just doesn't work anymore. Other apps work just fine, but this one doesn't. I've mess with the sensitivity for a long time on multiple sessions trying to get it to cooperate and it just won't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, still, this app does not work!

Fix the Damn APP! Whatever you did in the last update , please undo it! I went overseas and now after I got e it is horrible. The off set feature is horrendous, doesn't work. The app registers hits all over, even when I hit the same spot. When I bought this I liked it so much I got one for my son in the army. Really feel disgusted with the app now.

This app worked well around 7 months ago which is when i got it. Decided to train with it again and my god they destroyed it with the newer updates. They added more features but made the basic ones unusable. It lags like crazy when recording score. I put my handgun at point blank and saw it hit 10, it records a 6.......what?!? I can no longer zoom away from the target useing the stand the product came with so it can fit my phone screen. Honestly i would avoid this product/app until they fix it.

I read the reviews and was hesitant to upgrade to the new version. I downloaded it to another phone (identical to mine) to try it out without losing the original version on my phone. With the cost of ammo I didn't want to lose any shooting time because of an unstable app. I had no problem with the new version and have since upgraded my phone to the new version also. I do like the added features and functionality.
  • Excellent system! Feb 22, 2018

This system allowed me to become a better shooter for sure. It doesn’t simulate live fire and the way you react to recoil but it helps in other ways that are essential to better shooting in my opinion. 1. Improved my hand eye coordination 2. Improved my aiming 3. Improved my shot grouping 4. Taught me good trigger pull and hand control because I would always see how much the laser jolted every time I pulled the trigger 5. Taught me fast target acquisition using the “quick draw” mode. 6. Saved me bullets at the range practicing techniques I didn’t need to use live ammunition for. Anyway just want to show my support for this app/system and I’d like to see the developer continue to make improvements to the app. Couple of constructive suggestions I’d like to see implemented in future updates: 1. In quick draw, highlight the bullet hole that corresponds to shot # taken. 2. Be able to change the shape and/or size of the bullet mark when a shot is registered.

I love the setup but the app has some definite issues It does not register all my shots And it registered shots that aren't even fired And when you shut the app off you can still hear it firing I would be more than happy to give this 5 stars If you can correct these issues
  • Great system Apr 14, 2018

It’s not perfect, I’ve had some false hits and some times when a hit looked different than how it was registered in the app. My iPhone 6+ in an Otter Box style case is as big as will fit in the cradle but it does fit and work. The price is great compared to other training systems, you’re learning on your own firearm, no reloading mags, no cost of ammo (I’ve already dry fired well over the cost of the iTarget system.), and no cleaning after a session with the iTarget. I had an issue that needed support and got a great response! Thanks to iTarget my groups have gotten much better.

  • Love it! Feb 13, 2020

I gave critical review due to being unable to use my I Target that has worked very well until recently when a new version of the app was installed. I requested that I be provided access to the older app which I have installed and now my I Target is working perfectly again. Thanks to the I Target team for a timely response to my request.

It really is a good dry fire tool. Mine is perfectly accurate (only tried up to 20 ft) with a clamped gun on a bench. 3 observations that could improve it in my opinion. It could be easier to line up the target. My iPhone 6 barely holds in place with the target in frame. It could also hold your score on the screen a little bit longer before removing it. I can barely make out what it says before it is removed. The lines on the target could also be darker because I can barely see them at 10 feet. But still a lot of fun and good for muscle memory.

I had previously given it one star and taken it back. I had issue with bullet placements. My target was too low and manually adjusting the target area caused some discrepancies.

The App is great 👍. But I bought the Quick Draw Target and it will not work on my new phone. It works well on my old phone but the Restore Purchases doesn't fix it. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
  • Decent, but not worth the $4.99 upgrade Dec 26, 2020

    By Works too much
I paid for the “quick draw” feature and after fighting with the apps inability to figure out portrait vs landscape, I found after first shots that the app only picks up 50% of the time at best. I’ve adjusted distance, lighting and sensitivity to no avail. As soon as I think I have it dialed in, it misses the first shot, and sometimes the first 5 shots! Really would like to have my $5 bucks back, but maybe they will use it to improve. This is a 2-star app but I have it 3 because the free version is good for being free. Do not pay for anything they offer.

With the latest update, my phone can't zoom out, and with the standard sled my camera is too close to fully view the target. Please allow users to zoom out for phones with multiple camera settings. Using an S20 ultra.
  • The weak link of a decent product Nov 18, 2020

    By Nomad33FW
The iTarget device itself is pretty good. The target is a good size, can be seen well from 30 feet. This is further away than you’d probably ever have to shoot from, but does allow for good trigger squeeze practice. The app on the other hand is horrible and the weak link of an otherwise decent product. It seems like no matter what you do you get false hits. I have tried calibration, different light sources, types of light and it doesn’t matter. The app doesn’t seem to make full use of the spectacular camera on iPhone 12, the image seems slightly out of focus. The last ding is that you have to pay to get all the features of the app, this is after paying $100 for the product.

App does not let you exit properly and does not stop after you exit normally. You have to use the "Close all apps" function to completely exit. Overall app is useful.Needs some work.

This app worked well around 7 months ago which is when i got it. Decided to train with it again and my god they destroyed it with the newer updates. They added more features but made the basic ones unusable. It lags like crazy when recording score. I put my handgun at point blank and saw it hit 10, it records a 6.......what?!? I can no longer zoom away from the target useing the stand the product came with so it can fit my phone screen. Honestly i would avoid this product/app until they fix it.

Set up doesn’t seem to get easier with this. Have to constantly fiddle with the adjustments and it still never sets up right on my iPhone X. The target is always a little skewed as I have to angle my phone to get close to a proper picture of the target. And I’ve watched the video and spent time trying to adjust everything. I’ve used in varying degrees of light with different settings and it constantly just starts showing rounds impacting on the target without me “shooting!” The sound works intermittently and I’ve deleted and reloaded the app to see if that would work to no avail. Not sure why that is. At $80 for the whole setup I’d expect a little better. When it gets close to working properly it’s fun for dryfire training.

This app used to work fine until the update. Now whenever I open app shots are fired and not even doing anything. Also when I close the app I can hear the sound from shots still counting. I tried adjusting settings several times and have to force close app. I was really considering purchasing the other targets but I'm glad I didn't now. A whole bunch of wasted time trying to get this to work smh. Uninstalling

New version virtually unuseable. I wish I hadn't upgraded. The previous version worked. It's embarrassing that y'all let this go public in this state. Where is the zoom control? Should be a slider bar. Not random rubber-banding pinch zoom that only semi works on auto target detect. Why does the zoom reset when I change a setting? Where's the sensitivity slider bar? Medium is full auto fliers in the corners, low doesn't pick up the laser.

Updates broke app. After updates app is incredibly glitchy. Auto find target feature is nice - unfortunately the rest of the updates broke the app. App immediately starts registering shots despite no shots fired. Voice is now hard to understand as young Arny mumbles out. Cannot find the shoot from holster setting which is the reason I paid for the app previously. Dev. Responded to review - have now lowered it to a 1 star rating. Their response addressed none of the issues mentioned.

The new app, is completely UNUSABLE and totally disappointed. I just got yet another laser for another gun. We can no longer use this due to malfunctioning . I wouldn't use itarget going forward. Looking into another system.
