  • Hmm update? Why would you go backwards? Apr 12, 2020

    By CMO2013
Can’t put in accurate information and so not user friendly anymore! I’m just wonder if you can say update when it gets harder to use and becomes a more overwhelming home screen. Instead of a clear breakdown of information there is now an ity bity chart with too much going on that doesn’t clearly show the info. I used to be able to get the info in a glance but now I have to pull out a magnifying glass to see where a number may be on a tiny chart. And now the last BG is not clearly displayed at all on the home screen. I have to go hunting for it in your scroll at the bottom. Not to mention I should be able to put the correct dose in for my sons Basaglar, but your app won’t let me. I can’t understand why something so simple should be so hard. To go from user friendly home screen to this and not being able to put in accurate information almost makes it not worth it. The idea of this is brilliant and I was hoping to love it. I’m sad that this app has gotten worse.

It really helps a lot with logging my numbers and such, and it is so much easier to send to the doctor then faxing them over.
  • Huge help in logging doses Jan 29, 2019

    By ChrisGurn
We’ve been using the product and app for about 6 months now. When we switched from a simple injector, I didn’t see the need. But it became clear the value pretty quickly. Seeing the history of when an injection happens is huge when you have two parents and a school nurse that give injections. Watching the estimate of insulin on board is very helpful. Relying on the app to do our calculations which take into account insulin on board is important. Insulin pumps aren’t for everyone. Having the option of a smart injector is huge. Regular syringes have a larger gauge. Our daughter thinks nothing of getting injections with the InPen. And no site changes! Features I’d like are integrations with CGMs, but the biggest would be a follower app. That way parents can see say when the nurse gives insulin to cover highs and exactly when they do.

  • Love InPEN!!! Jan 31, 2019

Great assistance with management of IOB and logging in amounts of insulin taken. Being able to inject a half unit is a huge benefit. My endocrinologist loves the data it provides. I love not having to write down all the info daily. It has definitely helped me to NOT STACK insulin doses which can definitely be problematic since I take multiple daily injections, as needed. It was very easy to begin using it. The Ap is easy to read and use. Lastly, the reminders for taking my twice daily basal insulin keeps me from missing doses (probably multiple times a week!!) it just takes the burden of having to remember that OFF MY BACK.

The app is great overall but when it's connected to the Dexcom G6 it seems to be lagging behind.

It's a Badly Manufactured Device, even this Morning I tried to use it, and after Selecting my Humalog Dose, it Wouldn't AT ALL, allow more than 3 Units of Humalog to be Infected!! Then as I pulled it Out of My Stomach area, it Just Wasted All the Rest of My Humalog into the Open Air!!! And the In-Pen it won't ever Communicate with my Dexcom6 CGM EVER!!! They should Recall this Worthless Insulin Device!!! "A ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS DEVICE AS IS EVERYTHING THAT IS FROM METRO NIC

Can't properly set my meals. I work midnight shift. MY breakfast is around 6pm. Lunch around 1am. And dinner around 6am. CAN'T DO THAT with this app. How hard is it to allow the user to pick ANY TIME, AM OR PM???

Please bring back the old app layout! I LOVED how user friendly my InPen was, and now I can’t look at the screen without being overloaded with information. If I wanted to go back to looking at a full-on log at all times, I would go back to jotting all my sugars and insulin in a notebook like I did 15 years ago. Please please please bring back the old layout. I loved my InPen, but this latest app update is making me reconsider entirely. It’s like it was designed by a non-diabetic, aka someone who doesn’t understand that our minds are literally always clogged with these numbers - the app should help pair that down, not burden me with a mess of numbers on my screen.

I would rate this -5 stars if I could. This new version is unusable and fixes none of the problems they had with the old version. The new display format is useless and I could find no way to enter BG values from my CGM. Still doesn't have enough time slots in settings. They never did fix the problem with Bluetooth missing doses. I recommend using Diabetes:M instead of this app.

Not useful. No extended bolus feature, and the recommended bolus NEVER saves, so you have to keep logging doses manually. It also doesn't sync with Dexcom CGM, though it shows the CGM is paired. The "Diabetes: M" app is better, though it's not free and doesn't specifically have Inpen settings, but it has more useful features per my patients.

  • InPen is InCredible. Feb 5, 2020

    By Ragebolus
I started using the InPen and App last week. It is FANTASTIC!! Once I entered my therapy data, I started seeing information that I never saw before. The app is only going to get better, too. Good diabetes control requires knowing a lot of info. The App includes an online log book so I’ll know if I have myself a shot. I can also enter my blood sugar level whenever I want. The shots are AUTOMATICALLY entered and show in the home screen. It’s good now, and it’s going to get better. The App Store will have to add another star because the InPen App is already a 5. I’ve had Type 1 diabetes since 1984!!

Both my son and I use an Inpen. This has been a huge help with tracking and calculating dosages. I have a brain injury and it was difficult for me to remember if I had given myself/him insulin. Both of our A1C's dropped since we started using our InPens. Overall I am very pleased with the app/device. I have a few suggestions/things I've noticed. I wish they worked more phones/meters. It looses the link with the meter almost daily. It would be nice to know when there is less than 10u left.

Amazing app that really helps with diabetes management. The only issue is that since the upgrade, the app no longer reminds me to use long acting insulin at the time listed in therapy settings. Instead, I get the reminder at random times. Otherwise, this app is genius. In response to the comment, the time is correct in the therapy settings. EDIT: Upgrading to five stars because the company personally reached out to me to resolve the issue! Excellent customer service and love the Inpen.

This app, product are wonderful for managing type 1 diabetes w/multiple daily injections. Calculates insulin doses for me, keeps record of all doses. Keeps track of Active Insulin. If blood sugar is BELOW target it suggests the number of carbs to eat to bring it back into target - SUPER helpful. The InPen is great after being on an insulin pump for yrs, much more ECONOMICAL. One request: ability to add written notes like exercise, food type, alcoholic bvg, etc, to track their affect on BG.

  • Love my InPen but.. Apr 8, 2020

I love my InPen. I really like the dosage calculator to prevent insulin stacking and provide accurate measurements. I really like the new home screen layout and the app is really good. Some improvements I’d like to see are mainly with the InPen device itself. I’d really like to have a more positive feel from the dial and delivery button and maybe a more tactile feel to the pen. It has a very smooth feel and can tend to be a little on the slick side for me personally. Other than that, the pen and app are fantastic. Thank you for the continued development process.

  • Future features! Jan 22, 2021

    By Chrisggg12345677890
I received my InPen a few days ago, it works amazingly. But the app could use some improvement with the logBook, the logBook should have an edit feature to remove saved recommendations from the calculated dose. Many times I’ve noticed myself entering a wrong carb amount and backing out and not being able to edit the log or delete it, this added feature would help a lot more in managing our daily intake of carbs and insulin.

Love the app! Definitely very useful, however it doesn't give you an option to manually put in your glucose reading for what time you checked your sugar incase you forgot to put it in right after you checked your sugar. Me being a mother I sometimes forget to put in into the app and it would be helpful if this feature was added. Hopefully it will soon!

Almost there...setup was straight forward and app is fairly intuitive to use. Parents DESPERATELY need a Follow app. Also, particularly for those using Fiasp, we need an extended bolus reminder. Audible alert options in addition to just the visual ones would be very handy too.

  • Not Great As an Overall Diabetes Management App Jun 21, 2020

    By TOPW_QOH
Most of the time insulin doses are automatically transferred to my phone. Sometimes it takes awhile though. When I allow it to read glucose data from Apple Health the it is almost always duplicated. When I allow it to read carb data and go to calculate my insulin dose the carb data is not there. Instead, I must enter my carbs myself to get my insulin dose; however, after doing so I now have duplicate carb entries. I have disabled and reenabled the app from reading glucose and carb data many times to no avail. My logbook is a waste of junk with all the duplicate glucose and carbs. Please fix this immediately!

  • It’s helpful, but... Jun 13, 2019

I love my InPen. I’m a former pumper and having the same type of technology in a pen/app so that I don’t stack doses has been great! I don’t love that the app often misses my doses if it’s not right beside the pen. At least once or twice per day I have to manually put in my doses. I also really dislike that I can’t just tap carbs then go straight to input BG by tapping it. I have to put in carbs, tap outside the little blocks, then tap BG to input- that’s SUPER annoying. Overall this is a great tool if you’re on MDI- it would be an amazing (and essential) tool if it worked properly all of the time.

  • Settings don’t account for people with an abnormal schedule Mar 25, 2021

    By Moonglow38
As the title says, you can’t put in abnormal times for meals. I typically don’t eat “breakfast” until 7-8pm, regardless of what time I wake up. My “meal time” is more of a 4-5 hour meal window. I don’t eat much during the day because the spike in my blood sugars robs me of any energy I may have had for the day. This app needs to be more flexible with meal time settings. Not everyone eats three meals everyday, or at normal times.

  • Looks great, and maybe a little greedy Dec 19, 2019

    By dpelikan
So you can’t use the blood sugar calculator unless you buy, and keep buying, this company’s bluetooth pen. That is some unnecessary silicon valley late-stage capitalist nonsense. Would have at least liked to try this app out using my regular pens first. I guess I’ll keep using another app to make calculations and record injections since it works just fine.

The update makes the home screen look cluttered and it is far more difficult to read. The older update made the layout look clean and it was easy to check my active insulin on the go. As a teenager, this new update makes managing my doses and sugar harder. Please change it back!!

The app needs to be compatible with more phone versions. I was excited to receive the pen in the mail only to be disappointed that my phone isn't compatible with the app. Customer service was no help with. Just go buy a new phone. I shouldn't have to because I just bought my phone two months ago.

  • Crashes often Oct 20, 2020

    By Protohero
I would love to give this app a higher rating, I have been using InPen for the past several months and my A1C has dramatically improved. But recently either with IOS 14 or the bug fixes from 3 weeks ago, the app crashes so frequently that it’s basically unusable. I have to restart my phone frequently just to get into the app to log things. I was thinking we would see support for this soon but it has been weeks with these crashes and nothing has gotten better.
