  • Product search display Dec 12, 2020

Hi - I appreciate that you’ve come a long way on your apps, but right now the display from search doesn’t show all options. I typed axstad drawer front (Which was actually a prepopulated option) and was only given a single option for axstad doors, not drawer fronts. The other results gave me combinations of boxes, multiple types of drawer fronts and other products that I don’t need. On the browser site, I found similar issues. I’d like to see an option for all drawer fronts, then click through with the ability to filter by size, color, etc. I think it’s great that you offer a selection of pre-formatted options (eg, two drawers, a base) so people are more likely to look at it as a unit, but I just need a drawer front. They shouldn’t be so buried. (Also - are kitchen drawer/door fronts able to be used on Besta? They should, if they’re not.) I’d also like to know from the app when products are anticipated back in stock and to get a notification when they arrive (and be able to designate more than one store - I live within an hour of 3). Thanks and stay safe!

I was trying to find a way to file a grievance that I had with IKEA, but could not. I wanted to send an email, but the only option for emailing was for order cancellation. I however wanted to email to complain about the lack of product at the IKEA store near me. Now I know Covid has really put a strain on resources lately and I do take that into consideration. However, I specifically drove to IKEA, which is about 45 minutes away from my home, to purchase two Trofast shelving units for our play area. I checked on the app and the supply level was low so I headed there quickly. Once I arrived, I went to the bay where the shelving unit would have been located only to find a “temporarily out of stock” notice. When I inquired about the item I was told that there must have been an inventory discrepancy. I was very upset since I had just driven all that way for one specific item. I would appreciate if the app designers would change the “low stock” indicator to “low stock, please call to ensure product availability” so that people like myself do not drive far and make arrangements for someone to watch their children only to be met with no stock in the store.

Going to the IKEA store here in Tampa is always a fun half-day outing. We love the drive across the bay, although more often we simply take the route over land to get there faster. Then we stroll leisurely through one floor of the store before having lunch in the cafeteria. We always pick up many items we first saw on the app, but end the excursion in the warehouse aisles to pick up another piece of furniture we priced through the app. The app is a great convenience because it will tell you if the item you want is not in stock and that saves you a trip. And I often compare IKEA with a couple of other venues, all via apps before deciding where I buy a specific item, but inevitably it’s at IKEA because I love the style and price.

I find that the categories are too general and you cannot go into a specific one as you can on the website. In the age of apps guessing what you want, it is annoying when you already know what you're getting. It's like if I went to the store and I had random people coming up to me and dropping things in my cart like shelves and other office accessories when I mentioned I was looking for a chair... Forcing things on people does not make the experience better...

  • Another IKEA app... Feb 23, 2021

    By 🐯 The White Tiger
Just realized the IKEA Store app is no longer available while I trying to tell someone to download it (just as I was baffled last year when the IKEA Catalog app vanished); I never received an alert, email, etc. saying that the IKEA Store app was being discontinued… But, such is life. I’m enjoying this app so far, but it is a bit irritating that IKEA seems to have an aversion to making ANY of their apps compatible with landscape mode on iPad devices. Yes, there are times when I like to sit back and browse the collection in portrait mode, but when I am using my device in landscape mode—with a keyboard—it breaks my flow to HAVE to detach my keyboard, then rotate it... it’s quite annoying, actually. Also, I’m not sure why there is SO much white space between products; when I searched for a product and hit enter, I literally thought there were only two products available... until I scrolled past all the white space and realized otherwise—and the whole app UI is designed that way. PLEASE fix this. Lastly, when searching for an item, there is no cursor in the search bar, so you don’t really know if you are able to type in the section or not; it’s a bit confusing. Other than the lack of “intuitiveness”, the app feels like a refreshed version of the IKEA Store app, which makes it (somewhat) familiar and easy to navigate.

Wishlists are not saving. The last week or so items have been missing. I've deleted my wishlists on web page as I liked using the app better. Added items back on app. The new items are not saving either. I've deleted the app, and reinstalled it. This hasn't fixed it either. 10/02/2021 I now can't remove anything from a wishlist. Try to remove an item and it says that the list can not be updated at this time.

Tried submitting feedback 3 times, never went through. Still very complicated to browse, like it was created by someone who has never shopped online before. Not recommended. Wayfair is MUCH better.

The app used to be very easy to browse by a variety of categories and I was able to plan my online orders or shopping trips with precision and ease. I was impressed with the detail and searchability. Now I can't find most things I'm looking for because the app is organized by "looks." It's incredibly frustrating. Whoever thought would encourage customers to shop and plan using the app is out of touch with the average Ikea customer.

This app is so confusing and frustrating I literally want to cry. There are no obvious categories you can browse to shops. The home page is just a feed of photos. It’s like they want the app to me like a Pinterest feed of inspiration? But I just want to shop! I want to go to office furniture > desks > and then just view every single desk you sell. An inspiration feed isnt a bad idea but I don’t know why they’ve removed a classic shopping experience. I have once or twice somehow ended up in a product list view in this app, but I have no idea how I got there. This app is horrible. I am sticking to the website for my ikea shopping. EDIT: I’m leaving my original review but after trying to use the app, after I had completely quit the app and relaunched it, I saw that the search page allows browsing by categories. I believe there is a bug I must have encountered because previously, my search page only contained a search bar a few suggested search terms. This is frustrating when there is no other way to get to the categories for shopping.

Really preferred the old app. Harder to add to a shopping list on this version, waaay too much empty space, too many clicks to see the full shopping list with locations, no more projected back in stock dates, some sharing menu functions don't work, and I HATE that I have to be signed in for most features to work, unlike the old app. Plus, the checkout page says delivery not available on everything in my cart, even when I can schedule delivery through the website! This update makes everything feel smoother, more efficient, more accessible - which is so incredibly on brand for Ikea, I practically feel personally greeted by a charmingly enthusiastic person ready to help me redecorate a home office. Everything about this app update has been smoother and easier so far. I’m excited to use it to check out everything I’m interested in, see what’s readily in stock, and arrange for shipping like usual. This is such a delight! Y’all please give the teams behind this update fond wishes from the heart of Texas.

I’m looking to move out of my parents house soon and already trust IKEA as a brand but wow wow wow their app is phenomenal! The ability to favorite items together in Pinterest-esque lists is by far my favorite feature. I also love how the lists tally up a price for you so you can get an idea of what kind of money you’re looking at. My only critique is maybe include wood as a filter option under color as well as material. Sometimes I don’t mind if something is veneer or solid, I just want it to be wood grain.

  • Getting Better Feb 19, 2021

    By jamesmckee
Did this replace the IKEA store app? This is much better. I appreciate the ability to have a digital record of my purchases. The other app should be removed from the App Store to avoid confusion. It would be nice to have the ability to add the IKEA Family card to the Apple Wallet. My biggest request is the ability to allow for multiple people to have the same IKEA family card number. Seems ironic that the ikea family program does not allow for families to have membership, each individual must have their own membership. Further, once a family can truly have a family card, there should be an option to created shared lists and shared cart and allow either party to initiate an order from the shared cart. Check out the Instacart app. They have this functionality and it is useful for families.

  • Very smooth, but some frustrations Dec 3, 2020

    By MrMcBane
This new app is definitely much smoother looking than the old IKEA Store app, but there are a couple of frustrating things: - Sharing works weird. If I Share an item, choose Copy from the share sheet, then paste in some apps (e.g., Discord), I get only the item image. If I share, copy, then try to paste in Chrome, it fails. It would be nice to have a Share item which shares *only* the URL. - "Shop by room" on the main page is just a catalog-like group of images. Looks nice, but not super useful IMO. Fortunately, I can drill down to what I want by going to the Search page and hitting "View all" on the "Browse by category" section.

  • Pick up Options Jan 29, 2021

    By Pluviophile in Michigan
I don’t have many complaints but the option to pick up is confusing. For example, the app shows 9 of an item in stock at my chosen Ikea location which gave me the option to schedule purchase for pick up last night when I first looked for it but doesn’t show pick up at my store location today? I’m trying to be covid careful and going in to hunt it down and stand in line does not facilitate that. Also, it’s common that depths of products are left off the item dimension specs. It’s usually found somewhere else on the product page but it really should always be in dim specs, in my opinion. Lastly, (not really app related) the delivery cost for large items is perfectly reasonable. However, if I want to buy a few small items I have to drive an hour to pick them up or pay $75 to have them delivered. Maybe consider adding a shipping option. There are plenty of things I’ve bought elsewhere for that reason alone. Thank you for asking for feedback.

  • Nice, but it ain’t the paper catalog Dec 10, 2020

    By ItsmelittleT
Which, low tech that it is, gives the consumer control over her browsing. Unlike the delicious and satisfying act of paper page turning, Ikea’s app doesn’t let me easily turn to a specific item. Nor does it let me flip back and forth to compare similar items. And, most importantly, the app isn’t conducive to daydreaming about changing the functionality of Ikea products to suit my particular needs. A plus is that products are clearly represented on the app, with vital product info like dimensions. I’m so going to miss you, my paper catalog friend, and the hours of pleasure you’ve brought me!

  • Good App but not the best for iPad Pro 12.9 Jan 12, 2021

I am used to using my iPad Pro 12.9 no on landscape mode. This app while good in portrait mode it will not switch to landscape mode. Please update the app to include landscape mode! Also the search by nearest store could be better. Not sure if theres a way to show available products only in store on the app. I keep having to go back and forward with checking product availability between stores. The whole delivery has never worked for me I keep getting errors all the time. Also the pick up option is never an option for me and there is an IKEA about 15min away from me. Not sure what going on with that. Other than that the App is great for just viewing what IKEA has to offer. If you’re looking for product availability it would be best to call the store or go find out yourself.

  • Time lag, hard to find individual pieces Feb 18, 2021

    By jabnif
The updated app makes you sit through a couple seconds of slide show before you can use the app (can’t find a way to skip it), which is a useless waste of time. Also, it hasn’t solved a fundamental problem with IKEA’s app and website from forever: it’s hard to find individual pieces and their prices. Where most sites show you an item and suggest other parts of the same collection or things that work well together, many (most?) of the products you look at on IKEA are shown as packages of multiple pieces and it’s unclear how to unpackage them if you don’t want the configuration shown. It’s also hard to figure out which pieces come together and which are attachments/sold separately. I find this REALLY annoying and difficult to navigate. I do less shopping at IKEA because the app makes it harder to plan ahead and figure out whether they have something that will work for me.

I love IKEA, I'm a big fan girl. However this app doesn't work in the way that I find easy. I like being to look through by categories options before even getting into an IKEA store. So I have a rough idea of my options that will fit in my house. Now I can't even find the items I am looking for. I really liked the old app, it was easy to use and not over cluttered. It was an almost perfect app compared to this. Please fix it 🙏

I'm having trouble understanding basic things like whether this comforter cover comes in a different size, or what it terms are included in a "decorative combination" (does it include the table? The vase? The couch and wall??) I’m seeing some big changes in ecommerce terms (favorites lists) BUT the app also MAKES you choose a list, like, I have one list, just do the thing. I'm not a big list maker, but I didn’t think that favorites go on lists? I see ♥️ as a separate type of list, not a *shopping* list, and expect a different interaction to add to a list. Idk I’m confused by a lot of small things, so much so that I'd prefer to shop on dot com but I hope they didn’t cascade the app's interaction design to the web because I like IKEA, but I’m not braving covid to shop there. Almost all of this could be fixed by testing the app with like ten people.

Until your app can alert me to when an item is back in stock at my local store and give me "back-in-stock" estimates it will never deserve more than just one star. You have nothing in stock because of Covid supply chain issues, but you took away the one best feature of your old app that helped ease that burden on your customers. Ikea your apps and online experience are terrible. I'm going to look elsewhere for what I need.
