• Worth a try but didn’t meet my needs Sep 6, 2018

By ShoutingMan!
My current favorite cocktail recipe app is abandonware so I’m looking for a new one. This one looked intriguing, with a small but enthusiastic set of reviews, and possibly robust set of recipes and custom user recipes. Unfortunately, as another reviewer noted, the recipes weren’t what I expected. And easy example: Lemon Drop. I expect it to use Absolute Citron or other lemon-infused vodka, some lemon juice, simple syrup and maybe an orange liqueur. The recipe here was straight vodka and a lot of lemon juice. From a previous developer response, they state they’re using classic, long accepted recipes. I believe them. That’s fine. But I’m looking for recipes that are generally similar to what’s broadly used in 2018. This discrepancy between what I expect and the library was across my favorite drinks. Additionally, the UI design is not attractive, to me. It’s not bad, but it’s not a delight. Especially compared to the old app I’m replacing, which is elegant and way to use. I decided that for me a kinda clunky app that I’d have to write all my core recipes anew wasn’t what I wanted. If this got tuned up, the recipes expanded to include contemporary approaches, and a UI refresh of the UI (see the sadly abandoned Old Sport for inspiration), I’d gladly pay a few bucks for it. This app is a good option to compare to the other freemium apps, which have their own pluses and minuses.

• What ever You Do PLEASE Not Drop Support Jul 29, 2018

Seriously. This app is that good. I now have most likely a little over a thousand drinks installed under Kevin’s app and would be devastated if support was dropped for it. Being a home bartender I’ve also found useful at out local bar for introducing custom drinks. The things that really make this app shine is the ability to know which drinks you can make based on ingredients on hand and the fact you can add custom ingredients in order to add new drinks all the time. I have the app installed on both iPad and iPhone. Of all my apps, this is the one I treasure most as I have tons of hours (and fun) pouring over drinks on the web and adding them and the ingredients to this app. Oh, the new backup feature is a God send too! Perhaps the only thing I can think of is a print feature. And I think the only time I could see this really coming into play is if, and only if, support was dropped at least all the work put into adding custom drinks wouldn’t be lost. Anyways, super app and HIGHLY recommended.

• No sync functionality Nov 30, 2019

By DJF10
I had this installed on my iPhone and iPad and there is no way to sync between devices. I lost over 50 added recipes and favorites. Most other apps allow for a simple sync between devices but this app asks you to either backup or restore and both options resulted in the loss of data. Very unsatisfied customer! I amended my review to 5 Stars as the developer responded to my review and reset my login. After reinstalling the app with new credentials I was able to successfully recover all of my favorites and added content. Many thanks for the timely response to my issue.

Comprehensive list of great drinks. But you need to add ingredients either to the App’s master list or at least to your own created drinks. Grapefruit Vodka, please?

• Seriously????? Oct 13, 2010

I must have a bit of a drinking problem because this app is useless. The drinks that it lacks in its database is frightening. I honestly don't know how or why this is ranked so highly. This was the first app that I paid money for and later deleted. It doesn't even tell me the ingredients in a Manhattan! Are you serious? Before you praise it, why not exercise it a little bit? Maybe search for a drink other than a Bacardi and Coke? Be a bit more creative with your drink selection. I dare you. It'll soon make you very appreciative of the dollar you already wasted. I chose Mixilogy, a FREE app, and so far it was an excellent choice. Seriously, a Manhattan?!?!?

This app is useful for those who have never tended bar before, but those who tend bar this app blows!!! Such a limited number of drinks. Needs updating, there are a hell of a lot more drinks out there than this app gives so when someone stumps me at the bar and I go to this app it never delivers. Not even once. It's good for the basics

• Money back, please? Sep 27, 2011

By MM_888
I want my money back. App is horrible! Incorrect recipes. Im a NY bartender and as soon as I saw 'French martini' recipe I knew it's gonna be crap. Then, French 75 proportions are ridiculous... Etc... For example, try to select Amareto from the DISCOVER section and you'll get 'No drinks discover' message which good enough to trash this app. I kindly ask for my money back or I'll keep blogging and trashing this app everywhere online!

Even though this was just 99 cents, I'm highly disappointed in this app's brevity and lack of depth. If I can have the entire works of Shakespeare -- free, too -- on my iPod, I should get exponentially more recipes than are listed here. I have cheap paperback bartending books with at least 15 times the recipes as this. Furthermore, most are simply taken from Wikipedia! Lame. Really lame.

• The only app you need to make great cocktails at home Jul 30, 2012

By pmrp
I've tried many different cocktail apps over the years, and this one has the right mix of features and design details to make it the best. My favorite is the discover feature, which only shows me recipes for the ingredients I have on hand. For an avid home bartender, this is a must have as your stock and tastes change. You can even search by a specific ingredient if you're feeling particular that evening. Or say you want to make a certain drink but don't have all the ingredients, no worries because the shopping list feature is there to tell you what you're missing. The recipes are also the best I've seen, utilizing both official IBA recipes for the classics and Wikipedia for everything in between. They're easy to follow and well organized, clearly showing amounts, ingredients, and directions. If it's missing your favorite drink, add it using the custom my drinks/ingredients feature. It's also easy to tag and rate your favorite recipes for quicker recall. The developer is also committed to making this the best app possible, with frequent updates that have improved the design and functionality since its original launch. Did I mention it's also a universal app that works equally well on the iPad? I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for this fantastic app. Keep up the great work!

• Wonderful start - looking forward to new features May 28, 2012

By TechnoTimGuy
This was very helpful during a recent home party. I used the discover feature exclusively. It would be nice to have the browse by type of drink option that is based in what you currently have on hand. In fact, I would change discover to 'inventory', and then on your browse drink feature have a checkbox or slider that filters drink results to what is in your inventory. The shopping list is a good idea too, where what you don't have is added to a list, then when you check it off at the store it is added to your inventory. I also feel that the mixers section of inventory is most likely to need updating every time I need to use the app, please make this section more flexible - consider pulling fresh ingredients into another section, compared to bitters which you buy once a year.. Thank you.

• Useful app for the casual mixer! Jan 30, 2012

By Xquizt
The part I love most about this app is that you have the ability to look up drinks you can make based only* on the liquors/mixers you already have. This app is really handy for someone who is just starting out mixing drinks, doesn't know what to make with the drinks they have on hand, or just needs some new ideas. The only complaint I have is the lack of pictures for most of the drinks in the app. Hoping that'll be fixed in a future update though! Worth the 99 cents. Highly recommend!

• Good, functional App, but... Jul 8, 2011

By Work in Progress
I'm a bartender at a popular club here in my city, so I use this app often for those random drinks that I don't get asked to make too often. Pretty solid list of drinks and the ingredients are pretty accurate! The only feature that this app does not have (that would make it the absolute best bartending app I have seen) is the ability to add you own drinks and recipes to the list. If this feature was added, it would be the only bartending app I used (I'm talking you YOU, app developers!)

• Great. Needs synch across devices. Jun 22, 2015

By Equus Arabica
Update June 2015: I too want ability to access my custom drinks and ingredients across multiple devices. Now I have a new iPhone, and see no option but recreate from scratch all the stuff I entered into the app on my old phone. See below for additional features requested. Update Dec 2013: I use this app probably more often than I should. Frustrated that what I have entered via iPhone I have to start over on iPad. To get 5 stars, consider adding: + ability to filter drinks selection from Discover, so as to find drinks that I have on stock but that feature a certain ingredient. + links to look up a description of what a listed ingredient is and perhaps it's history. + ability to synch among devices for favorites, added ingredients, added recipes.

• Nice but incomplete... Nov 14, 2011

By CJinNJ
I wish there were a way to add ingredients. Noticed that when creating recipes some ingredients are not available; Galliano is just one of them. Plus it would be nice to distinguish between ingredients such as white & brown creme de cocao. So the work around I came up with is to add just 1 ingredient ( because the app requires it) and put the rest of the ingredients in the instructions section. Nice app but missing ingredients without a way to add them makes this incomplete.

it's heartening to see a developer like Kozan who listens to user suggestions. this app keeps getting better all the time! but doing away with "parts"? why not give the user a choice and select from a list of measurements, including "parts"? i'm no professional bartender but i do realize it's more about the proportions than the actual measurement. i agree with a previous commenter it would be great to add notes to drinks.

I would like to be able to enter a particular ingredient that is not on the list. I cannot create my own cocktail list if I have an item that is not in the drop down. It’s great that you can select the type of glass and the measurements but your stuck with items on the drop down list.

I like this app took me 20 mins to find a decent recipet for a drink the other day. But one thing I would fix is to give an option to change from Parts to Ounces because I for one have trouble figuring out "4 parts this" "16 parts that" and "2 parts something else" especially when I have already had a couple

Unless you wish to randomly generating offbeat cocktail 'ideas' to stump a bartender and make yourself look clever; or you don't know your stuff as a bartender and can't handle awkward requests. If, however, you seek a reverse look-up to figure out what you can make with only creme de cacao, banana schnapps and Tang, look elsewhere.
