When planning a trip to Istanbul, Turkey, on a vacation or business trip, the need to save costs goes without saying. Track flight prices over days or weeks before your trip, and only book when you can get the cheapest flight. This way, you can save more than $100 on your air ticket.

If you want to get around from one country to another at the best rates, Hopper can find the cheapest flights possible and can really save you some cash. It also claims it can save you up to 40% on your next flight and can even send you alerts if the price changes.

This is one of the easiest ways to find the cheapest flights to your destination of choice. You can also create colour-coded calendars to see when the best times to fly are, if your dates can be changed by 3 or 4 days for example.

Plane ticket prices have a tendency to go up and down, depending on demand. If you're looking for a good deal, it's best to watch them using Hopper. There is, after all, a huge difference between paying $300 and $700.

    Terrible experience Jun 25, 2022

    By Lauren Glanville
Made a booking by mistake (because of the app) I immediately requested a cancellation and sent an e-mail informing that I had requested a cancellation and that given it was within 24 hours of the booking I hoped for a full refund. Hopper took over 48 hours to respond and told me that the app did not register the cancellation and that it was no longer their problem so to contact easyjet to work it out. Bad app, bad customer service and no accountability.. still have not had response.
  • Unable to get ahold of customer service for a previous hotel booking May 12, 2022

    By LukeC666
So my partner and I were recently on vacation in Europe. When we got to Rome, it turned out that the hotel we booked through the hopper app was actually an apartment building, and when we arrived it was closed for the day. Unable to get inside, we were left with no choice but to walk around hauling 100 lbs of luggage each until we found another hotel, which in total cost us more than 100 euros extra. We were under the impression that the hotel booked through hopper would be an actual hotel and not an apartment building. Because of this, we are convinced that this was false advertising. We have tried reaching out to them via the app, but there is no support phone number and no way to message them or get ahold of anybody without an active booking. The fact that you cannot contact them for a previous booking is totally absurd. Frustrated and disappointed about our experience in Rome, but granted we went to 11 different countries in Europe with almost all of the flights and hotels booked through Hopper. This was the only issue and we did end up saving a lot of money because of them, hence the 3 star rating. However the lack of customer service isn’t acceptable, I don’t recommend booking through them if you suspect you will need customer support at any point in your trip. Whether or not we receive a refund will determine if I use this app in the future.
  • Refund for Same day cancellation Sep 22, 2021

    By bamhfavs
I waited over a month to get a full refund from a flight that I cancelled 3 hours after it was purchased. The rule is you get a full refund (minus any extra fees that you may have purchased for insurance etc.) if you cancel within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket. It should be processed as a void. They sent an email stating they would refund me X amount (which was about $60 less than the amount I paid because the fees are non refundable -understandable) and when the refund went through, it was exactly half of that. When I reached out they tried to say it was due to fees, hello you already kept the fees! Reached out again to get the rest of my refund. They sent me an email stating I’d get the rest refunded within 3-10 business days. 15 business days later and still no refund. I reached out again and I received an email saying they sent the refund via PayPal? (That was weird, but okay) I go into PayPal and there is nothing there. 2 minutes later I get an email stating that the money they sent to PayPal was cancelled. I had to reach out yet again. FINALLY, 35 Business days later I get the other half of my refund via PayPal. The only reason I am giving the app 3 stars is because every other time when I haven’t had to request a refund things have gone smoothly and ultimately they did give me a refund. Just a huge inconvenience to get it.

After my customer service experience I can no longer continue to book through this company. While the prices are good and booking is easy when problems arise the company has shown it does not care for its customers. It has been two weeks and I’m still waiting to receive a resolution to my cancellation requests. My bookings have expired and I have no clue the status of my case or how to reach a actual human being within the company. My customer service experience consists of automated responses from “helpful” bots. Although, I did have a one time chat via the app with a representative nothing was resolved. I was told nothing about my case only that I would receive a reply soon...that was 5 days ago. As of now I have no hope of a resolution with the company. I honestly feel as if they’ve taken my money, and have no intention of reaching out again. Therefore, I can no longer confidently recommend others to use this company, and if you choose to do so I ask that you do so with caution. Simply, put if a problem arises with your flight plans you are on your own. ***To whom it may concern, My Hopper confirmation codes for both roundtrip tickets were EAODPH and FFFMTA. The email associated with both bookings is the best way to reach me. I look forward to hearing from you via email regarding a resolution.***
  • Price Freeze is great but... Feb 7, 2020

    By labtechtwo
I really like that Hopper takes the work out of finding the cheapest and best (for your needs) flights on your own. I’ve tried searching on Hopper and then searching on the airline websites listed and Hopper was cheaper. It’s great that Hopper has integrated features such as Price Freeze, Cancel for Any Reason, Missed Connection Protection, Baggage Fees, and Insurance. I used the Price Freeze for two passengers which is great, but unfortunately, when I was ready to book, my original flights for 2 passengers was no longer available and the app wasn’t very user friendly in that it would not show which flights could accommodate 2 passengers for the dates originally indicated on my Price Freeze - message: “One or more of your flights selected can only accommodate 1 passenger, please go back and select a different flight or change the number of passengers.” I was going back and forth, and finally on my 3rd attempt for different carriers/times, I finally found a flight combo for $20 more that met our needs. It would be GREAT if Hopper could remove the flight that couldn’t accommodate our reservation request from the list of options completely to alleviate the frustration from guessing which one would meet our needs.

Hopper did reach out too me to process my request. I do not find it helpful that there is no customer service line available to assure there were no miscommunication. Also the pricings are wrapped in fine print. I would not even bother with using this app unless you plan to read all fine print. As a tip always go for the free cancelation if you do use this app.
  • Please Fix the Notification Spam Nov 19, 2021

    By Sarahhh N
Hopper has a nice looking interface that’s easy to use. I’ve booked and completed my first flight with no problem last month and look forward to using Hopper again soon. I like to use the app to look up flight prices to many different places for future travel plans. However, it saved every search as a “Watched Trip.” The app’s notifications have just been crazy. I keep getting notifications like “Your flight to __ is now $__” It even notifies me of hotels at the places I’ve searched even though I’m not interested in booking a hotel. These hotel notifications are even more annoying because they’re always untrue. They advertise that a certain hotel in __ have gone down to $__/night and whenever I click on the notification, the price of that advertised hotel is NEVER what they said. Also, the red dot on the corner of the app in the Home Screen displaying how many notifications I have is always over 100+ everyday, though harmless but bothersome. I know I can always turn off notifications in my settings but I wished we can customize what kind of notifications we would like to get, plus please stop displaying 100+ notifications to get us to click on the app.
  • Great app, except for promotional push notifications. Jun 15, 2022

    By mr. bunbury
Very impressed with the functionality if this app, particularly the ability to time the market for flights. This App allows you to gauge when to wait and when to buy flights depending on when the prices are going up or down. So it is Extremely useful for people on a budget trying to determine if they can afford a trip. However, push notifications are essential for being promptly notified When to buy i.e. when prices drop. Unfortunately this app offers no way to opt out of non-essential push notifications and retain the useful ones. They send notifications for “sales” to major hubs regularly. On a scale of absurdity these are not excessive but they still regularly wasting your time and the wording of the notifications sometimes is too close to suggestive that the flight ls you’ve saved have dripped in price when in reality it’s just a flight to Vegas. Were the developers/notifications composers to distinguish notifications for your saved flights more clearly from blatant attempts to generate traffic on the sight this app would be far more useful than it currently is; still useful but scrutinize every notification for direct reference to your interest or just turn off notifications and check it regularly.

I could have given 5 stars are the prices are really low, booking experience is great and watch feature is good. But I have given 3 because of below: 1. Watch feature doesn't remember or specific filters 2. Price freeze feature gives me Uh Oh Something went wrong 3. Multi city bookings are not possible Otherwise, great app. Must use! [Update after 6 months] Still using the app. Getting the lowest prices on Flights and Car Rentals only on this app. Updating to 4 stars.

You had better get every detail of your flight correct on the initial booking because it will take WEEKS to hear back from Hopper for any changes despite a goal of “responding in 24 hours”. You can do exactly what Hopper does by using Google on your own and avoid the hassle. Hopper: My flight was HRACYSfrom Savannah Georgia to Nashville Tennessee. I still have not heard back in response to any of my requests using the app. While I understand that my flight is a couple months out and this may not be “priority” I need this resolved so that I can accurately proceed with scheduling other components of my trip. HOPPER: You did email me on August 28th as you claim and it was a generic message that said my details had changed but still referenced the incorrect dates. The fact that the only way that I can have a conversation with your service is via 1 star messages rather than a phone call speaks volumes about your customer service. HOPPER: Also for the record the dates that I want are November 12-14 flying from Savannah to Nashville and returning Nashville to Savannah

I’ve used Hopper for all my flights (and some hotels) this past year and I’ve never had any issue with it. It’s been great, I’ve found great deals, all has been well. Recently though, I had to change a flight and was a little frustrated initially going about it. The Hopper app said I needed to contact the airline and the airline said I needed to change it through the app. My ticket had a $0 flight change feature so I was a little flustered when the airline said it would be $50 to change my flight. Finding any contact information to speak with someone from Hopper was almost impossible BUT, I sent an email through the app to see what my flight cancellation options were and was in contact with someone through email almost immediately. They were so helpful! I explained that I was looking to change my flight instead of cancel it and even asked for prices on two possible dates to change it to, and they delivered. I paid a total of $0.98 difference in my ticket and got the change processed almost immediately. I’m really pleased with the Hopper app and I will continue to be a loyal customer for a long time.

Hopper Lacks Integrity Jun 9, 2022

    By Michelle Lukes
I used Hopper to research flights which I double checked & saved before paying to freeze at the advertised price. When Hopper confirmed, the price was different & the flights were wrong. Customer service is non existent but a few minutes after I Tweeted, I got an email… The condescending agent just told me it was my mistake, sorry. I suspect this is a scam & they make money from un refundable fees you pay for flights you’re never going to purchase because the details are incorrect. BEWARE.

Price Freeze. An utterly horrible scam. Nov 23, 2021

Horrible app. Price Freeze doesnt freeze crap. It told me flight price had doubled and my prize freeze capped at 128 dollars, and anything over is on me. THAT PART WAS NOT MENTIONED WHEN THEY OFFERED PRICE FREEZE. I am going to book directly from airlines, where they still have original price (WTF?!) and I'm out the $79 they took for price freeze. Scummiest type of business. DO NOT USE.

This company lies about their price freeze feature. For $45 you can freeze the fare and book in 7 days. Lies! If your flight goes up they don't refund the difference. You can't call them, just chat and it takes forever. They will only issue refunds to your Paypal even if you pay by card. They are dishonest and shady and I will never ever use them again. I could have booked straight through the airline for less and saved myself a headache and 2 hours of my life chatting with them online

DO NOT USE HOPPER- I WAS ROBBED Jan 29, 2021

I had to cancel my flight last September due to Covid 19. Hopper sent me an email saying to contact them when I am ready to book. I have been ready to rebook for the last month. I have tried contacting them through their support link online. Their auto response says they will get back to me in 24 hours or a bit later. I have not heard anything. I have tried calling them, but there is no way to find a number that connects to anyone. VERY upsetting and frustrating. Go directly with airline!

Hopper tries many times to get you to pay for something you don't need. After buying a flight a "tip" and "VIP Support" are automatically added to your purchase. If you don't notice them before you accept the charges, it will be quite a surprise when you look at your bank statement. Not to mention every time I log in now it's trying to get me to purchase trip protection for $40. Every. Single. Time. There's no way to turn off this pop up, I'm forced to decline the protection every time.

I will never use hopper again! I had booked a deluxe King suite through Hopper, but when I checked in, Hopper had sent them a reservation for a standard room, which wouldn't work as it was for my best friend's Bachelorette party. The hotel was able to help and get me a bit larger room, but not the suite I had paid for. I contacted Hopper and after much back and forth, they started the process to get me a refund. After the first few days, I have heard nothing and cannot access the conversation.

So I had been using hopper for a year without a problem. Until recently I had booked a flight with spirit through Hopper. The flight had been rescheduled for two days prior to the original date. Hopper did not inform me of this schedule change so to spirit it looked like I had missed my flight eventually I got my money refunded back from spirit but since I purchased through Hopper the money was refunded to hopper instead of me. I have not been able to contact Hopper since they do not have a customer service number nor do they respond to their customer service request forms through the app. It has been weeks and I have not heard back from Hopper. Through the app they say not to submit multiple customer service request forms due to it taking longer for them to respond. I don’t want other people to have to go through this as well. As of right now, Hopper has stolen $122 dollars from me and they give their customers no way to contact them directly. Update: Hopper replied to my review and said "Thanks for your feedback. We're really sorry to hear that you had a difficult time getting in touch with our support team and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. This is certainly not the support experience we aim for and we hope that we are able to resolve your request as quickly and efficiently as possible." They literally offered no way to contact them again, no further assistance, and I have still not heard back from my customer service request.

Garbage, take a few minutes reviewing flight details and the price shoots up by an even $50 per person. Sure. Edit: This wasn't for a watched flight. I literally just went a few steps back in the checkout to confirm dates/times of flights and then continued checkout and got hit with an alert saying something like "sorry it's an extra $50 per person now". Hopper is an awful app. Do not waste your time.

  • Hopper support staff saved the day!! Feb 1, 2022

    By Katy0908
I’m booking a bucket list vacation to Sweden and one of the highlights of this trip is staying in the real IceHotel. I had been watching the room rates consistently go up until I finally pulled the plug and paid over $700 for a nonrefundable room. When the confirmation came back I realized I had booked the wrong night! 😱🥴😩. Immediately, I rmaoled Hopper support begging and pleading for help. Even though this error was totally 100% my fault, the support staff offered to help me out. They reached out to the IceHotel (for three days straight with an eight hour time difference) and advocated for me to be able to make an itinerary change. The support staff went out of their way trying to help me and also keeping me informed about what was going on. At the end of the day I was able to reschedule my booking for the proper night. Yay! 🤩❄️🥶☃️ The hopper support team really saved the day as this loss could have really screwed up the remainder of my trip. Shout out to Nicole, Miles, and Vanessa with Hopper support for going above and beyond for me! 🙃
  • Updated review - Response during COVID19 Mar 29, 2020

    By qja2018
Update: I was able to get my refunds despite the initial lack of response. I want to express my gratitude towards the Hopper team and I look forward to re-booking my next trip as soon as the virus situation is settled. Original review below: I’m such a big fun of this app and have been using it for years. I used to only use this app for tracking but recently started to book within the app. For its convenience and also for the fact that I want to reward the company that’s built such a great product. Things start to go downhill from here. Because of the COVID19 all major airlines start to office free change/cancellation. I had to change my plan but realize I cannot do it directly at the airline’s website. I had to go through the app chat that has no phone number or email. I can only leave message to ask for help but so far no responses yet. During a crisis like this, you can really start to appreciate the benefit of booking directly at the service providers’. Hope the Hopper team can get back to me.

I reserved a suite at a hotel in New York for 3 nights for an incredibly low rate, I had a feeling the hotel wouldn’t want to honor it so I purchased the VIP Support for $9 through the Hopper app. I was right, we were given a basic room and I was not happy. I calmly sent a message to support for help with the mistake and Lestlie O. Was amazing! She contacted hotel management and updated me as the night progressed, she was eager to help and assured me that she would find a way to make it right, and she did! Someone else is in the room I reserved but will be leaving in the morning and we will be switching our room after it’s been cleaned. It was great not needing to raise my voice at someone knowing it was being resolved. I’ve had similar reservation mistakes in the past and never had positive resolution such as this. I appreciate Lestlie’s commitment to finding a solution and advocating on my behalf. Thank you Lestlie for your hard work, you turned an unpleasant experience into one I can be happy with.
  • So happy I trusted Hopper! May 13, 2022

    By real-nightmare
I needed to book a room in San Francisco for a week and the first place I went to look at was Hopper. I used it once before, and the experience was amazing (4 star hotel) , but since it was a big trip, I decided to read the reviews first. And I saw a bunch of negative comments, it made me think if I should go with Hopper. But then I realized that people tend to leave bad reviews more often because when everything goes well we treat it like it’s supposed to be this way. Even me, it’s my first review in App Store but I wanted to contribute to this app for saving me over $600. And even though I accidentally booked it for one extra day (facepalm), and arrived on the second day, everything went smoothly. I had experience with other apps where they just mark you as “no show”. My tip is: book it with Hopper, and then call the hotel before your trip to make sure that your reservation exists, and there’ll be no surprises when you arrive.
  • I had problem with support and it was fixed! Jan 23, 2021

    By melinarag
I’ve been using Hopper for years and was already by far my favorite flight app. Then COVID-19 happened... I had to cancelled my flight and couldn’t schedule back because I had misspelled my last name. I’ve reached to support and it seemed to take years to get a response back - truth to be told, they highlighted Customer Support was overwhelmed by Covid demands, so delays were expected. They reached back, I’ve closed the chat window and couldn’t find it back; reached out again, they replied again, with baby steps that I’ve clearly needed and problem fixed! Bottom line: not only the app is by far the best to buy best deals tickets, but the team are going an extra mile to deal with all COVID-19 situation while dealing with regular problems as well (yeah, do yourself a favor and double check spelling if you have special characters and autocorrect, ‘cause system doesn’t deal with special character). Congratulations to all.
  • Freeze price Dec 7, 2019

    By Moira.D
We used “ price freeze” for 3 tickets from Chicago to Buenos Aires, the price was good but we had to sort out if the dates worked for the three of us. Less than 48 hs later, when we were ready to book, the price had a $200 increase per ticket. We didn’t know how price freeze worked and were a little bit skeptical as we had to pay the full new price and wait for the reimbursement. Everything went smooth, I emailed customer care, Rosie got back to me less than 24 hs later and asked for a pay pal account. They deposit the $600 dolars in just a couple of days. It is the third time I use Hopper, will continue using it, prices are usually unbeatable, they provide you with a record locator which you can use to choose seats ( some other cheap air fare ticket apps, start charging you for seat placement) and there is someone that answers your doubts, eeven if not immediately, they do and follow through with what they promise. Keep it up Hopper! Nice doing business with you!
  • Necessary app for booking flights Jul 9, 2021

    By CarlieCampos
Hopper is a staple when planning any travel. I love that it sends notifications if prices change and you can have multiple date ranges and locations watched. I also love the predictive amount you can save by waiting. It’s extremely easy to book flights through the app the moment it drops within my target range. The other features with auto buying or reserving at a price to see if it drops further are also great. I’m not a huge fan of the hotels section but they’re usually expensive. I wish there was a collab with Airbnb since that’s my preferred lodging source. It would be cool to have the option for multi-leg journeys or combined flights into one location and out of another rather than buying individual flights. Either way the app is a life saver and makes planning travel so much less stressful and seriously saves so much time that would have been spent searching for flights.
  • Worst app ever Feb 6, 2020

Hopper is a scam! They don’t have an actual customer service hotline, everything is through a chat which you can’t do until you purchase a ticket, and their response time is in 24 hours. I froze three flights and of course when I went to purchase them they were no longer available. So I read the trouble shooting problem solving option which stated that I could “find another flight as long as it’s the same day, same place of origin and same amount of people for flights. Then hopper would reimburse me to up to $200.” So then I went to purchase the flights and paid 3x more than the freeze amount and no one is helping me fix this issue, I got one response in 24 hours and my flight is tomorrow and all they said was “unfortunately we can’t help you because the flight is a different airline.” Now I’m paying $792 for flights that we’re suppose to be $312. This has been the worst experience.

  • Please Fix the Notification Spam Nov 19, 2021

  • Good app to find cheap flights/hotels/etc… Feb 19, 2022

    By travelfamily2022
This app is a good app for finding the cheaper prices of travel. I find it better than Expedia, Orbit, and all the rest. Plus you get cash back in the form of “carrot cash”. I’ve gotten free nights at a hotel and discounts towards flights with the carrot cash. They also have price drop guarantee where if the price drops lower than what you paid for it, they’ll give you the difference in carrot cash. If you travel a lot, this app is a must have. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there was an instance where I bought basic economy tickets and the app said I could pick my seats for free. Well you can’t pick seats on a basic economy ticket for free according to the airline. Hopper customer service was excellent in helping resolve the issue. I ended up picking seats and hopper paid for them since it was their mistake. And so for that, Hopper needs to fix that issue on the app so it is not misleading. I HIGHLY recommend getting the VIP support when asked during purchasing. You’ll get quick responses and good results. Next trip, Italy!!

I can’t seem to get anyone to assist me with my September 2020 cancellation. I didn’t cancel the trip, Italy closed its borders and the US suspended international travel. At the start of COVID the Hopper site stated to not be concerned regarding cancelled travel they would handle it. Their process was to do nothing. They never initiated any communication with me. I supposedly have a travel credit that expires Sept 8, 2021, but I don’t know with which airline. I can get no answers on how to use the travel voucher. If I went to Italy now I could not see any indoor sights or enjoy indoor dining without a vaccine passport which the US does not have. I did purchase Hoppers travel insurance but it does not cover the entire planet being locked down. This has been a very frustrating experience that has gone on for months with nothing to show but multiple emails asking me to “be patient. I updated this review because Hopper worked to get me a full refund, which I appreciate. I realize this was a once in a lifetime event that no one could have prepared for, so I’ll leave it at that.

  • Helpful but lots of hidden fees Jan 26, 2022

    By J.I.reviews.
I’ve been using hopper for years to simply track flight prices going up or down, which was great. However, my first time attempting to book through Hopper was disastrous. Hidden fees left and right, every screen has another fee that you meticulously have to disable or opt out of and if you aren’t paying close attention you’ll quickly find yourself paying more. Up til the end when you think you’re all set, there are two last items a $5 “tip” and a $25 “VIP Service” fee that are easy to miss. Moreover, this app will tell you a flight price has increased to get you to buy it then, but if you wait literally a couple hours a flight notification will come up saying “your trip to wherever is only X amount of dollars” and you just ended up paying more beforehand because they trick you into purchasing right then. Also their customer service has no actual employees unless you have a booking, you have to rely on FAQs for help. Not even a phone center, their phone number will take you to a message machine. Overall, great app to get some ideas of when prices will go down but I do not recommend purchasing on the app itself.
  • Stressful Experience (Eventually resolved) Dec 5, 2021

I’m currently 20, so I had to reserve a hotel without 21+ requirements. Found a listing stating 18+ requirements and booked it, and also confirmed with front desk, who happened to also misinform me of their policy. Of course when I arrive after driving 6+ hours, I couldn’t get my room. I tried cancelling through the hopper app for hours starting around 8pm. Maybe server issues, try later. Website hopper provided showed no server issues. I have had no luck finding a way to contact their support at all. Only preset pages that just go in circles. Once it turned midnight, I couldn’t even view the cancellation button. My confirmation email said I can cancel for full refund until 6am, and now I’m up at 2am with no sign that I will get my refund. $180 down the drain. Update: I was able to reach support and eventually get my order refunded. The customer support agent was very helpful with finding a solution for me after my very long day. I feel like the app needs some fixes, especially regarding cancellations. Customer support was great, I just wish they were easier to contact and/or if there was a number for calling them
  • Prices not updated Feb 16, 2018

    By CSCP1972
I downloaded this app to save money on a family trip to the Caribbean. I gave it 3 stars for the many tips given for cheapest flights. I found tickets for $461 and was ready to purchase since it stated that this was the lowest price available. When searching other sites and apps, Hopper had the cheapest price. So after filling out passenger information and going to the purchase page, a window pops up stating that prices went up $77 dollars. It then says choose different flights or continue purchase. I went back to change flights and the flights I had previously chosen were still at the $461 price! I then picked the next cheapest flight. Then it states prices went up over $100! I even restarted the app to see if prices got updated. Nope. It even has a little bunny hopping and checking for latest prices! No such luck there either. Update: The price didn’t go up if I tried purchasing one adult ticket. However, when I added other travelers including my kids, the prices goes up. Maybe it’s because of how many seats are available next to each other? It would be great if the app could let you know how many seats are left for each flight!
  • Great When It works Nov 28, 2021

I’m pleased with the convenience and prices compared with booking directly through the airlines. I find it frustrating though that while you are in the process the app takes you through screen by screen and there’s no way to access information on previous screens without scrapping the choices you’ve already made. You can’t access settings or any kind of help menu while going through the booking process. For example I wanted to check how much time I had for a connection before choosing a seat for the last flight in a long trip. It meant re-doing all my previous seat choices. Worse was when my credit card company flagged the transaction as suspicious, but the the app just gave me a generic message (making it sound like it was a problem with their server) and by the time figured out what was going on and I got it cleared up I had to start over. I now see one reason it might make sense to use the “lock in this fare” option. All that would not put me off so much if there were any way to get live help but there doesn’t seem to be any.
  • Hopper is not on my good side Oct 20, 2019

    By Kreese17
I have always taken hopper with a grain of salt. I know that prices can change in a drop of a dime. Purchasing flights is a frustrating process. I have had success but more times I find this not to be too accurate. My issue comes from the “Freeze” portion. Which is advertised as holding your tickets for 48 hours with a $5 dollar per person fee. I got notification that my flight went down and immediately went to buy but when presented with the freeze option I felt it better to hold off on purchasing because I needed to double check with everyone flying that they were okay with me buying the tickets (it was still early hours with most people sleeping). I purchased the five dollar freeze per person. Well that was a horrible idea. While waiting for everyone to respond I started to second guess if the price would go up. I went and googled and saw from Hopper’s website that they will charge you the difference of the ticket prices go up. So now I’m like what the heck. I go back try to purchase and they say they do not have enough tickets at that price. After several tries I was able to buy the tickets for $100 more than originally price when I “Froze” it an hour earlier. Absolutely livid. They should make it known that they are not holding your price or reserving the price for you. Such false advertisement. I also am not sure if they refunded the $5 pp fee or if it got added to my flight price. I will make sure to double check.

The service itself is great, I was able to book a deal on a flight, but as many have said before the app is broken. I have been trying for the past several days, on multiple devices and after several uninstalling and reinstalling sessions and several cache cleanings, to book a rental car through the app and each time I try to book one the app goes wonky and redirects me to the main page. Even as a deal is going on for booking rental cars that part of the site still does not work for me.
  • More cons than pros Feb 21, 2020

    By yearly family flyer
I am not one to write reviews, and understand that people are more likely to leave negative reviews. That said, I can only give two stars due to extremely poor communication. Reasons with pros/cons below. The pros: good prices (but only about the same as other apps) and easy to book individual flights (group flights are tricky if there’s limited availability, and you’ll pay more). If your flying alone and flexible about layovers or direct flights becoming connections, then this is a great app. Cons: they are HORRIBLE at getting back to answering questions and concerns. I have been waiting over 2 months for them to get back to me after they notified me our flight details changed. I have emailed and sent instant messages, and the only response are the template/canned auto responses that they will “respond soon”, but they never respond. This left me a bit high and dry. Also, as mentioned above and as you’ll see in other (more positive) reviews: group booking is not convenient as it’s hard to find which flight(s) can accommodate your family/group. Part of my mistake may have been not paying extra for insurance, but for a family of 5 this is an expensive luxury I’ve never before had to use...I guess there’s always the first time. My suggestion, look elsewhere unless you are a flexible individual (not flying w family/group).
  • Price freeze system is predatory in its current state Apr 28, 2022

    By Datmonalisado
Their price freeze system was recently changed to no longer apply towards the cost of your total booking, but rather act as a one time fee (separate to your booking) to guarantee a price freeze up to $100. This not made very clear upon purchase as someone who has interacted with the older version of price freeze, where it was in fact applied to the total cost of booking. I purchased the price freeze for $46 for my $390~ flight, then moments later fully purchased the flight as soon as I noticed that the price freeze was only valid for one day until I had to purchase my ticket or lose the freeze guarantee. Upon contacting customer service and communicating that this was an honest mistake caused by my confusion with the price freeze system. I was met with a response that this was their terms of service and that they wouldn’t discuss it any further. This is an example of stiff customer service, with zero adaptation to the facts of the case when resolving concerns. Had the facts of my situation indicated a malicious abuse of the system, I would understand, but when honest mistakes are made their should be room more adjustment, otherwise it looks predatory.
  • Useless carrot cash is a joke! Oct 31, 2021

    By C.Medley
So first off if you are searching for a hotel the area is way too big they need filters to keep it in the local that you want to search, it shouldn’t show options that are over an hour away, unless you broaden your search, that is very misleading! Second I had a hotel booked that was non-smoking which is a default, which I like, because unless you smoke no one should be in a Smokey room because gross! Anyway I got a room and it was supposed to be non-smoking and check im at 3p, the place offered smoking only…at the time of check in…I was tired so I wanted to check in so I said I would take it but I wasn’t happy because that’s not what I paid for so the manager declined the room! So when I went to get a refund because this was canceled by the hotel manager they told me it was non-refundable! I said yes it is, because I did not cancel it! After a intense chat, they fixed it and refunded the money but they didn’t want to…they tried to give me carrot cash for all the time that I waited for them to fix the issue…the carrot cash is useless! It was $10 it wouldn’t even apply to the next booking! Done keep your stupid carrot cash and hop on that!

Hopper is a double edge sword you may be able to catch a cheap flight especially if you start looking early this is the good part. I did this and booked some cheap flights then bam covid hit back in April 2020. I tried to reach out to hopper because obviously you weren’t allowed to travel but to my surprise hopper does not have a customer support number. They don’t even have an email you have to submit a claim and then in a few days if your lucky some one named Noel might email you. But getting that email means nothing it took 10 emails and over 3 months to say I was going to be refunded but not the full price. And now 6 months later I come to find out that my travel credit isn’t on the app or even with the original airline but I have to try and get ahold of hopper again for them to book it because they don’t put it on the app. Overall I think hopper is crap and prolly steals people’s money because they get feed up with the system and how it work or they forget they had credit and then it expires and poof hopper made a profit for your aggravation and not traveling. So traveler be weary of using this app because you never know what will happen!

I was looking at a flight to Vegas said it was going to drop … did the price lock. Shocker never dropped, went to purchased the lock price flight and it was no longer available. It gave similar flights picked one out that would work. Supposedly it was a first class ticket not the main cabin costing over $3500. I clearly was attempting to save money so I would have never chosen first class. Contacted hopper to explain I wanted that flight but main cabin. I would love to add the screenshot of the email stating that was indeed what I had price freeze on, main cabin. Next email they change the statement not acknowledging that again. There was no flexibility no refund. Not that that was bad enough but while waiting for them to answer my customer service email, prices for the main cabin went up another $100. So not only did I not get the price lock price I lost $128 deposit, and ended up paying $200 per ticket extra for the same flight…. Cool. Thanks hopper (sarcastic eye roll). To say I'm very upset is an understatement. I gave 2 because it is nice to compare cost to destinations at different times through different airline. Would never price freeze again

The concept of this app is great, and I was using it to try to fly round trip to Detroit. All of the flights were popping up as $300 and it kept saying to wait, until it finally popped up with a $150 flight and it said to hop on it. Come to find out, it was a one way flight, and the way back would also be around $150, so it was still a $300 flight before added fees. I was not able to confirm the flight purchase in time, and ended up not being able to book the flight because others took advantage of the same deal, which is understandable. However I didn’t know this until I went to purchase the flight, when it said something went wrong. Later, I was double checking my bank account and saw that Hopper had charged the amount of the plane ticket to my account without confirming the trip. Upon further investigation, they did this in order to verify my bank account. I could not find a way to contact their customer service beyond FAQs, and luckily my money was returned after one day. I will not be using this app for travel purposes again.

Made a booking by mistake (because of the app) I immediately requested a cancellation and sent an e-mail informing that I had requested a cancellation and that given it was within 24 hours of the booking I hoped for a full refund. Bad app, bad customer service and no accountability.. still have not had response.

Customer service is non existent but a few minutes after I Tweeted, I got an email… The condescending agent just told me it was my mistake, sorry. I suspect this is a scam & they make money from un refundable fees you pay for flights you’re never going to purchase because the details are incorrect. BEWARE.
