• Most customizable bible app on iOS Jan 2, 2017

By luisdent
This app is superb. It is by far the most customizable bible app on the App Store when it comes to formatting. Paragraph kjv? Check. Precise margin adjustments? Check. Fonts, font sizes, margins, line spacing, indentation or not, HIDE VERSE NUMBERS for readability!, customizable colors, theme saving, highlights , bookmarks, customizable interface, and more. It loads fast and has additional study tools available for purchase in app as well. You can view a reasonable set of translations and split the view to have up to four bibles side by side. The kjv can be used offline, but others may require the internet. Has a great search function that works well. iCloud backup of notes, highlights, etc. Overall, it is my favorite bible app by far on iOS. The developer is very good with communication and support as well. My only desire would be a "slightly" more advanced reading plan. It is simple and works well, but being able to pick a start date would be ideal (I don't always start a plan on January 1), and other apps have far more options. However, for what I use the app for, mainly a very readable and clean and book-like bible experience, the app absolutely excels. I can use other apps for a reading plan (such as ReadingPlan, which can launch this app for readings and is almost the equivalent awesomeness for a reading plan app). Highly recommend this app. For actually reading the Bible, there is no better kjv app. Period.

• Fastest and simplest app for reading the Bible Apr 24, 2017

By RthrDshng
Very quick, pulls up and navigates instantly. Easy to navigate, tons of customization options (I recommend Baskerville font), and for just a couple bucks tons of notes and commentaries. Has the online ESV and several other translations offline. Just discovered the very nice notes system which sorts notes by chapter: very quick and easy way to take notes. Simple and lightweight, with no silly "social" features beyond basic sharing. Lightweight and looks great. Recent updates have indeed changed many things, and the developer (Paul) has worked his tail off to make a great looking app that is also easy to navigate. I truly believe he has done this with the most recent update, and the app continues to improve regularly. He updates it very often.

• Best, but 1 request Feb 19, 2019

By Weather_Watcher_4455
Absolutely, hands down, the best Bible app out. Of the 4 currently on my phone, this is my "daily driver", and always remains so regardless of how many I try out & delete. In app purchases are well worth the content too. Thank you sir. One request though, could you move the concordance back to the verse tap menu. I see the advantage of the way it works now, with the whole chapter available, but when you hit the "X" after looking at one word, to select another word, the list of verses jumps back to a predetermined spot, and you often have to scroll the list to find the desired verse. If it would just go back to the verse I was just at, I wouldn't want it moved back really. Just something to look at. * Review Edit * . . . . THANK YOU PAUL !!! Feb 18, 2019 Version 13.0.1 Changed the "drawdown menu" from icons to buttons with words. THANK YOU !!!! I liked the icons, but I don't have to figure out or remember what the words do. Some other nice tweaks too, but this one is a home run for me. And STILL the best Bible app available.

When a recent update was made, the designers of the app apparently decided to make it difficult to get to the area where one can highlight or underline text. Thought maybe I had it figured out with a right to left swipe. Nope! That worked only once for me. My advice to the app folks..... Quit trying to do fancy stuff and get it back to the basics. Give us an easy (and obvious) way to find the highlighting and underlining.

• What happened? May 30, 2019

By Lovemerald
I used to love this bible. I love that I could search for verses and it would pull up options for me, I could write notes and save my favorite verses. Now after the update it’s very bad. I can’t even search for bible verses anymore with phrases as it shows no results. To make matters worse the moment I select the search icon, the app crashes, not once but several times. Please restore the app back to how it used to be. Not happy. I’m now forced to look for another bible.

• App is completely broken Apr 22, 2018

By KpilotRCHelis
Recently the app has totally stopped working. I open the app and all it does is say “open the menu by swiping down anywhere on the top bar below the level of the arrow.” The pop up never goes away and I can’t do anything in the app. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I even got a brand new phone entirely. The app simply doesn’t work. This is my favorite bible app but this seems to be totally broken.

Just got this and can't find anything .There should be an easily found page telling about features and how to apply them. It is discouraging to find only a pull down with icons. I am not tech savvy, but usually don't have any problems. It all sounds good on the description ,but for me it is not easily implemented .

This app was great when it worked, which it hasn’t for me in over a year. I’ve contacted the developer who has been unresponsive. The moment I go in to the app, it comes up with a help screen on how to use the app but is frozen there. You can’t do anything with it. Useless. If the app ever gets fixed, I will give it 5 stars again. Very disappointing

• Fine Bible App Feb 8, 2017

By ~<HappyTrails>~
I use this app daily, it is straightforward and has everything I need from reading plans to searches to multiple translations. I like how it will automatically scroll, so you don't have to be constantly scrolling. There also are some study helps you can buy, but I haven't bought those. A note on the Chronological reading plan though: it's not perfect. The entry for October 11 says you should read Matthew 8 and Luke 7, however you have already read Matthew 8. I looked and couldn't find Matthew 9, so I suppose that Matt. 9 was accidentally replaced with Matt. 8. And Mark 6 is missing. I think it's supposed to be on October 11 with Matthew 14 and Luke 9.

• Great...but, search feature Jul 10, 2019

By skillet31
I really do love this bible app, I have it on both my iPhone and iPad. I even bought the extra study tools, my only reservation and literally the only reason not 5 stars is the search feature is rough. It doesn’t just search for the actual words I’m looking for but smaller words within larger words that I’m not searching for. To me that isn’t helpful and I’ve found myself using other sources to search, when this app has the capability to have a better search option. Love the app, not the search feature.

I have used this for years. It is basic but for 99¢ you can get inline Strongs concordance and many more bible helps. in John 3:16 tap on the verse the app take you to a screen there tape the word LOVE and it takes you to the greek word, from there tP another link and you can see every verse where the word is used in the bible. word studies I can complete in minutes rather than hours. all this can be done off line miles from any data connection. Many translations of the bible

I’m using an IPhone 10 running its latest updates. The app is updated. In the chronological reading plan. When I select bible reading >calendar then select the current date the scripture list displayed to read are out of synch with the scriptures listed above calendar. The scripture list to select for reading are the next days books & chapters. Consistently when I select a book & then chapter my displayed text does not change. April 17, 2020. This began in March 2020.

• Great app.. Lil twist on update Dec 8, 2017

By ChristInMeTheHopeOfGlory
I have been using this bible app for about 5yrs and it has always been great. This particular update is a little below the standard. After updating, the search and cross referencing tool is not functioning well.. The black header is not so cool.. the previous header design and color is far better than what is in the new update.. please review and make necessary changes.. Aside these things, app is 1 in a million.

I loved this app so much, and was getting started with some of the more in-depth paid features after purchasing the app after more than a year of use. Then they updated it. They changed the interfaces, got rid of my favorite dark theme, and wasted space with a larger navigation bar at the top of the screen… This would be all great and fine if I were using an iPad or something larger Space is at a premium on my iPhone. I will give them that the app seems to be a little more responsive… But I like the old app better

• OLDER VERSIONS WERE BETTER Mar 2, 2020

By *** ROAD WARRIOR ***
I’ve used this app for many, many years! This new version , swiping at the top of the screen frequently brings up the notification list. The older versions of this app, row of buttons at the bottom was the best design. You could quickly click on a button to auto scroll, click a button for the bible reading for the day, button for settings, etc. Please, please, bring back the row of buttons at the bottom. That made this bible app unique and easy to use.

By alilland
For many years this has been my favorite bible app, and the improvements have been good (would love a NKJV 😇 as an alternative to KJV though) but today when I opened it the “to open the menu, swipe down on the top bar” is stuck and will not clear. After about 20 minutes I figured out I had to click the swipe thing at the top, but it needs to have an exit button, or needs to not be a modal

• Getting annoyed Mar 3, 2019

By kasmith
I have used this app for many years and it’s always been my favorite. It’s still lacking several translations that I like to reference occasionally beyond KJV. But what REALLY annoys me is the constant changes to the UI!! Every time the app updates, the developer has to change something about the way it looks. Why can’t you just fix bugs, update usability without constantly changing the interface?

Updated to latest (11.1) and cannot find Interlinear anymore... It's downloaded and installed, but won't show up in the Study Tools, as promised. The Interlinear is the most loved and used feature of this app, without it there's no differentiation between this app and other Bible reading apps. Please bring Interlinear back to verse menu as I switch to it and back every so often. Seriously, I can't use the app without Interlinear!

The effort put into this app is evident and it is impressive. However, it is not what I am seeking. I don’t care about the “connected” features, online content, or sharing. I just want a good stand alone bible app with optional study features. Wish the developers would apply the KISS principle to this app. It just gets more annoying with every update.
