The new version is so bad, what are they doing? Jan 16, 2022

    By Apol1
I have been using Here Wego from the very early days, and it guided me to many trips without much complaining. However, this new version failed to find regular addresses, guided me to the wrong place, the direction arrow kept wobbling so not sure which way to go, the phone dattery drained fast due to its frequent crashes. i installed the old version, but it keeps updating to the new one. Maps has to be downloaded one by one. WHAT A SHAME!

Worst Here WeGo update ever Nov 16, 2021

    By Rimi
The new HereWeGo update ruined every aspect we loved the app. Looks the developers lost understanding about driving and for what it was used. Unfortunately the new version as scam overvriting the previous one. The new version map is small sized low contrast and overhelmed by big applications shining out, not just making Impossible to reed out the left small map and disrupting driving. Can't reed low contrast small print streets when driving, even zoom in not allowed.

Update loses ALL my stored places! Oct 12, 2021

    By Francois Kruger
I'm an expat relying heavily on stored places in my navigation app. The latest update lost all of my stored places; effectively impacting my work and social life beyond imagination. Downloaded offline maps are also GONE! I haven't been able to use the (new) app beyond a cursory check of my own location. The app reports an incorrect (by three street blocks) address! This means that I cannot even send my location to other people! I never authorized this malicious update!

    1. Get great directions offline and also receive transit ticket and car sharing prices and lots of additional information
    2. No matter whether you need maps for taxis or for public transportation you can find all necessary information to get you to your destination
    3. Get real time traffic information with better routes to get you to your destination as fast as possible

Really nice app. I like the look and simplicity. I think an Improvement would be to add a way to see the next two Fuel Stations on the screen somehow in the form of two small icons with the Km distance untill you reach them. This feature could also work for whatever the user wants to see such as the next two branded restaurants or whatever. User would be able to set what they want to see in the settings.

  • Great offline map, especially for outside of US Jan 13, 2020

    By trang.thai
So I went for a 10-day road trip across 6 countries in Europe and chose not to get data service (I kept in mind I could always activate 24-hr for $10 anytime), so it was super stressful to rely on Google map because I had to load it in the morning at airbnb, find a nearby Starbucks, McDonald’s or airport when I lose connection, sometimes just by accidental taps or being idle I guess. On day 3, I met my cousin in Switzerland who introduced me to this life-changing app. It has rerouting function which I love, the appearance is fine, the voice is a bit weird, and I have a love/ hate relationship with the fact that it beeps (love) but jumps me out of radio (hate) every time I go over speed limit (too sensitive and many times the limit is not up to date). The last day, to deal with strike traffic in Paris and to make sure I could get to the airport, I still chose to pay $10 so that I could have Google Map. For a free app that saves money, this is great! If I spend the previous night adding destinations into my favorites, it becomes even more convenient. Make sure you have space and the download is complete because the map for France is heavier and when I came back to France from Switzerland, I realized the map was halted only when I needed it the most. Still, very highly recommended.

I like this app a lot! I've noticed compared to Google Maps it always has more accurate bus info, it uses less battery, and it's much less crowded. I like the simplicity and it works well for me. The only drawbacks I dislike is it rarely has very much info about restaurants/places. Google Maps always has pictures, the website and busy times, reviews, etc. With this you sometimes get a phone number and website.
  • So close, yet so far Dec 30, 2017

    By JLAuBuchon
I’d like to see full screen use on the iPhone X like Google Maps or even something similar to Apple Maps. It’s trivial I’m sure, but it’s attention to detail. It does appear night mode uses true black which will conserve battery. Being able to download maps is great, it saved us on our last trip to Europe and made getting around a breeze. I also haven’t noticed any ads lately, which was fairly annoying not to be able to opt out of. It would be nice to have an auto switch feature for the units, it’s already using our location, can’t be that hard to know what areas use which units on their roads, there are only three. The voices are a bit digital and processed sounding, not major, but smoother voices would be nice. The directions can be confusing, especially the lane indicators and arrows. If you’re a Windows 10 user you’ll notice the native MS Maps app is in fact Here We Go. This made planning trips in Europe easier since we could see things on my Surface Pro 4 in larger detail then use the iPhone on the streets for navigation. Reality is I’d only use Google Maps if they offered offline maps. However, they don’t, so this is where Here We Go really shines. If Here We Go could get their interface, search and options on par with Google Maps, I may just remove Google Maps. At the moment there’s a long ways to go still.
  • Superior Offline Mode Jan 21, 2020

    By R0b0D0g
The thing that I love about Here Maps is the ease of downloading a country instead of sections like Google’s. Though, it’s still not capable of reliability like routing, place of interests, and live traffic. The routing takes you to more turns than making it simple, most of the business listings are either outdated or missing, and you get barely traffic report updates. The 3D building is a great feature especially how it shows an imagery of a tower building, which is another great thing but although it doesn’t cover that much area. I also like the voice guidance they’ve provided, it has a detailed guidance like it tells me to “enter the highway”, and it comes with more languages but the quality of the audio is low which you can barely hear at all. The most I disliked about this app is CarPlay support and it’s been 3 years that they still haven’t implement it but yet Magic Earth already have. This navigation tool has it’s potential but I believe that it’s putting less effort to improve it overtime. It is safe to say that you can use it for your holiday trips but be sure to be alert with your surroundings as this app would not be accurate all the time.
  • Switch Bluetooth Audio to Phone Speakers Mar 10, 2022

    By MikeMcGInNJ
I used both the new and old Here We Go (HWG) app. The new app is cleaner but missing some settings; particularly a switch to NOT use the Bluetooth connection to the car audio. I often prefer to have the voice directions emit from the phone speakers instead of the car audio system. The only way to stop HWG from using Bluetooth is to disconnect the phone from the car audio (which usually just reconnects on its own) or turn off Bluetooth on the phone. If the app had a switch to specify Bluetooth audio or speaker audio (like many audio apps do), that would make this a 5 star app.
  • As good as it gets! Oct 31, 2019

    By Iosfan4life
This app is as good as it can get. It even works good for over the road trucking as I have been using it forever to drive a semi truck to all of my customers. Do not get me wrong, this is not a truck gps, but what this is.... is a very nice gps that gives you routes on the main highways and for this reason, I have decided that this is better than Google Maps anyday! By the way, Google tracks and records your location at all times and saves this information along with your ip address stamped on it at all times and even use the info to market products toward you depending on your travel habits! As a offline mapping software, I can trust this more than I trust Google who also owns Waze. Apps like these use less data, are easier on your mobile phones battery, and will even help your phone last longer by not depleting the battery by logging your data all day! I know this app is not as popular as Google or Apple Maps, but it should be!

Last I used this app it was the old one I guess before it was bought and redone. This new app while still in its infancy is wonderful to look at compared to the other. Seems to be as accurate as Google maps and the GPS on my Lexus. It has a few options that I’ve never seen on other apps. It’s missing a few but I’m sure those could be added. Waze didn’t become what it is over night. Waze was a great app until they began all the ads. That move killed any attraction for it and got it removed from everything I own. HWG looks to have been improved quite a bit so I’m a be trying it out again. I did notice that at least in stand alone mode without any internet connection, it is heavy on the battery so if your in a are where you have to have a internet less GPS app. You would do well to have your power cord charging your phone while using it.

  • Fabulous app for offline driving in Italy Mar 30, 2018

    By Kids Learn
We tried HereWeGo driving around Northern Italy, both with and without data service. It was better than Google maps because it found destinations when we searched better than google did and it showed more of the actual streets when driving, which helped to make sure we were taking the correct turns. Also, when we were offline, HereWeGo still gave us voice instructions. When we had google voice instructions, sometimes they came late. We used this app to explore around Lake Como, drive up into Switzerland, drive to Venice, drive around Prosecco wine country and drive back to Milan. Just make sure to download the maps you need before you hit the road. I also tried it out offline around home before we left to test it out.

Good for back up to any other nav app. Very unfriendly and missing features. Bring back drive mode sometimes you just want a map not some worthless voice telling you that you past a destination. Need to be able to turn off buildings. Just the basic stuff that was in the last version. I have been using this as my only map app since it was Nokia Maps. I have seen it take steps backwards but this is the first time I have thought it was time to change.

I've used this navigation app for several years, but it's just broken now. It won't load properly, is laggy/slow, and just doesn't function like it used to. It was my go to navigation app. It's not a phone issue, because I've had several different ones over the past year or so and it was the same with all of them. I really hope they get it fixed, but I've moved in to other navigation apps. Here Wego will still remain on my phone, in the hopes it gets improved.

  • The reason why I don’t have google maps Mar 10, 2020

    By AmericanoInDeutschland
I have been using Here Maps since the early days in Windows Phone and they were the first ones that gave you the chance to completely download entire cities or entire countries offline... offline navigation doesn’t have just the names of the streets but also names of places, landmarks, businesses, the navigation can find you routes using public transportation. Your mileage may vary depending on how well a city is digitalized. I have moved long ago to iOS and up to date I don’t really have the need to switch to google maps as I can see they’re still playing catch up to this amazing app. This should be you maps app wherever you go, specially if you’re in Europe, hands down the best map around.
  • Great Overall Jul 12, 2018

I was looking for a map app to replace Google Maps as Google has become too into our lives that privacy is a matter. Tried Apple Maps and on iOS 8.3 I'm starting to love it but it doesn't always do justice, so I started looking. I first came across Scout, it looked good but reviews weren't the greatest on the latest update. Then I decided to try HERE. It might not have street view/fly over equivalent feature yet on iOS & I hear it's nothing compared to Apple Maps as they're more current & so fourth but it's basic maps are great overall, though no map app is perfect. If you're looking for a map app to supplement Apple Maps & want to stay clear of Google, this may just be the one.
  • Must Have Jun 16, 2019

    By Flannery52
I found this app recommended on a website, and it became our lifeline in Central Europe. We were not driving, so I can only speak to walking and public transportation directions. We found them excellent. Various routes were suggested, which especially helped when using public transportation. We downloaded maps ahead of the trip, and once in country and on WiFi, I made sure I could find places we were going. That helped because locations were already in the search queue when I needed then. It became obvious that the app prefers the local name for some museums and sightseeing spots. So be sure you know the Czech or German or Austrian equivalent of where you want to go.
  • Great offline gps app Jun 27, 2019

    By jimboxc
I first used this app while driving between cities in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, and Italy and thought it worked great! I downloaded the maps ahead of time and searched for and started routes while I had WiFi. Rarely I found it a bit laggy and missed an exit or turn but was pleased to see that it would reroute me while still offline so I could get back on track. I could have used google maps and roaming data in an emergency but so glad it wasn’t necessary! I also found that it did a great job of guiding me along offline to navigate walking and taking public transport within cities like Zurich, Venice, Florence, and Milan.
  • Better then the top rated maps but... Apr 10, 2018

    By BLacK-HaRTz
Okay I just deleted google maps as I couldn’t stand their updated lay out. Their turns were delayed and I always got lost . Seems they focused more on adding new features then updating the actual location and giving voice turn by turn accurately. I can say between them both, this app is by far the most accurate voice turn by turn directions. New to this app, and after my first trip, i can say I made it to my destination with only missing 1 single turn, which was my fault. What I like about this, is that it prompts you to make a turn at half a mile, then 800ft then 200ft, which is so useful! I love it! Only thing I gave it a 4 stars is everything but how about a search function while in the route of a destination. Such as, searching for gas or food while your already in a route? That would be useful or setting multiple routes to take. Thanks The “driving over the speed limit” warning and sound is extremely useful and accurate!

This nav system has never failed me. Use it more than gmaps. This is first choice for navigation and city transit. *** UPDATE *** Well, after Here Maps was updated into it's current form, the performance of using it for driving directions is woefully awful. Would not recommend it for driving at this time. Try another alternative until this gets better in the future. **UPDATE** OK, the recent updates has me convinced that things are actually much better. Thanks for all the hard work guys.
  • Great navigation app Jan 4, 2018

Used this when I was in France and London. Was great using offline maps and was very reliable and mostly accurate. Would like to see more integration into iOS. Would like to be able to submit feedback on address corrections via the app as opposed to being taken to the website. Would like the option to not have ads perhaps via in app purchase or just have those removed entirely. Again this is a great navigation app and it’s offline features like being able to download a whole map of a country for offline use is fantastic.

This last rework the application seems to have removed the drive feature. I used to appreciate that as it would display speed limits as you drive. Now it seems you have to pick a destination before it will report speed limits as you roll. I do miss the ability to pick alternate voices but not a deal breaker.
  • Please Update Functionality for Collections Jun 22, 2021

    By BusyProfessional999
App should be rated 5*. But first PLEASE fix a critical glitch after the new APP update: When I enter a destination, I expect to see first the names of my collections or saved places/Favorites to show up before I see other suggestions from the Internet. This is clearly the advantage of saving collections and places. With the new app, One is UNABLE to even see the names of saved collections. I only see Internet suggested names or addresses that match what I entered. Moreover, when I click on a saved Favorite destination, I do not have the option to navigate there. Positive News: Thank you for fixing the sorting of Collections by Distance; it is working well now!

Unfortunately, this apps "facelift" has made it clunky, unintuitive, and altogether a poor experience. From start to navigation used to take maybe 30 seconds at most. Imagine my horror when I updated this app and had to redownload all offline maps, had to wait an awfully long time for it to find a route to a major US city I was traveling to, WHILE connected to service, and upon starting the app in airplane mode, (something which worked fine on the prior version), it force-closes. Unreliable now.

I installed it on my phone to serve as a backup offline GPS navigation. I downloaded all the maps, and change the app to work at offline mode. I then changed my phone to flight mode, and asked to navigate to my town's post office. The app froze at finding the location of the destination (I tried search by name and street number). It does not work for me as an offline GPS navigation.

Primary purpose of downloading this app was to be able to have a navigation app on my Galaxy Active2 watch. Also downloaded app to my Galaxy A71 phone for easier input of destinations and although they do pair, all the watch will display is "Searching for GPS". The address and route is locked in to the phone, but watch app fails to relay the information, despite being paired. Wanted to use it for walking navigation in city without having to pull phone out of pocket every 2 seconds.
  • Turn by turn directions have been degraded Oct 25, 2021

    By dc9835
I’ve been using this app since it was Nokia Maps. To me, the thing that distinguished it was the clarity of its turn by turn directions which were incredibly easy to follow. For some reason, they decided to fix something that wasn’t broken and have eliminated much of the detailed directions that made it so good. Granted their navigation still isn’t as bad as Google Maps, whose navigation to me is so bad as to be unusable; half the time you can’t even get any sound at all out of Google Maps, a bug that has remained unfixed for years. But Apple Maps, which used to be pretty bad, has significantly improved its navigation and it’s now far better than Waze or HereWeGo. Waze is still best if you’re on the highway and want yo know where all the speed traps are. But for local driving, right now Apple Maps is the best.

This USED to be the gold standard a couple of years ago, but no longer. All of the useful functions have slowly been trimmed off. You can't find nearby food or gas or hospitals. I also can no longer get voice directions in my own language (besides English). I'll still use it in a pinch, but only because I don't want Google / Waze spyware tracking me. I PRAY that Here still doesn't track and report.

This was the best navigation app ever. I used this app for years because it was so much better than the wretched Google Maps. Note past tense. I recently updated, and the current version is disastrously bad. It is sluggish; voice instructions often come after I have already missed a turn or an exit. And the routes and directions are sometimes off and just plain wrong. In fact, it now acts exactly like Google Maps. Now I have to find a new navigation app. I am so disappointed!

Used to be my go to GPS app but the most recent update was horrible. Took forever to get voice navigation to work again, had to download offline maps again, offline capabilities lost and worst of all performance is horrible. In current form not recommended. Recent update corrected some of the issues.

I used to love this app but unless it improves I will leave. Since the redesign this app's performance has fallen off dramatically. Speed limits are suddenly wrong. Routes are terrible, choosing to wind thru back streets with endless turns instead of a logical direct route. Can no longer have an instruction repeated. Position on the route either lags or shows I'm on a side road even though I have excellent cell connection. Can no longer get a list of upcoming turns, vital when towing trailer!
  • Was the best offline navigation app… Jun 30, 2021

    By ApplePhonesForever
Recently the developers of Here We Go released an “update” for the app, claiming it would make the app easier to use. I immediately fell for this claim only to realize moments later many other people had a negative experience with this update. Everything about the app’s setup has changed, and my previous download of all of New York’s streets (allowing me to use the map offline) has completely disappeared. You guys did everything right, and I planned to use your app for years, until now! Please release a new ‘update’ switching back to what you had before, or tell me what to download to retrieve the previous version. Otherwise I will be looking for something different.

Here WeGo update sucks. And boom. See what happened ? It took you here, and rightly so. They took out amazing features, changed the color scheme, and deleted all my favorites.

Horrible update not usable anymore Jun 30, 2021

    By Rmark
As several people have already written the new update is abysmal. And thats putting it nicely. Was the only gps app I used. Old version was so much better. This is my first ever review I have written, you can imagine the disgust after all these years on the internet and this being my first ever review. Absolute horror of an update. Was my favourite app. Sorry

The new version does not work at all on GPS only using data which is expensive. The old version was great. I am no longer using it .

Would love to get off Google Maps b/c HERE promises better privacy... but the map quality is awful (at least in Houston, TX). Everything's shifted by hundreds of meters. A nearby gas station is shifted to the middle of a park, the office building where I work is shifted to a neighborhood on the other side of a highway, etc. - I have yet to find something that's actually in the right place. App was easy to use for the couple weeks I tried, but it's unusable if you don't know where you're going.
