While I use Guitar Pro all the time I really with this app was an editor rather than just a reader. I would have paid triple for an editor. The only thing you can do with this software is change voices of instruments, track amplitude, and tempo. Musicians on the go don’t want to just practice away from the computer. There are times where we collaborate with others and even just being able to write out new parts a collaboration has done, or even just jotting down some quick ideas would have been helpful. Even if they would take away the instrument voices. Do we really need more than one instrument voice per instrument on a phone app where you cannot write music in it? That was a stupid decision by Arobos. Add in the editor module and take out half those instrument voices. Users can go home and fill out the piece they are working on their computers with all the bells and whistles the desktop version has. Seriously I’ll pay upwards of $30-35 more than I already have to be able to edit in this app.

A great tablature app for the aspiring guitarist on the go. Something I'd like to see improved are the sound samples because chords become far too loud and low notes are far too quiet, especially on 7 or 8 string guitar. A new sample library would really step up the quality of the app. The desktop version has decent samples, why not just port those over? Like my phone can play xbox games from 2001, I think it can handle some 8-bit sounds.

This is a great stripped/on-the-go version of Guitar Pro. Really handy for jotting down ideas-though it would be helpful to be able write using more than one track and to have the option to change time signatures or edit preexisting files. It will *read* all pre existing GP files but you can NOT edit them. To view multiple tracks on the pre made files, go into settings to view each one. You can download tabs from your browser and open directly in the app too which is helpful. I’ll rate 5 stars when/if more features are added to the note pad. Otherwise well worth the purchase

Ok for writing, but the app cannot keep tempo at all. A dotted quarter on the & of three tied into a whole note, in 4/4. This should last 5 ½ beats, but it cuts off the & of 4 in the measure with the whole note and starts playing what's in the next measure an eight too early, while the metronome is still keeping time. It throws everything off.
  • It doesn’t connect to my fretlight guitar. Apr 20, 2019

I bought this app. To learn how to play songs. I search on the internet to find out why it doesn’t connect to my fretlight it has the bottom I pres to connect and nothing happens for me to writing this is because I being trying for the past 2 days to make it work and nothing happens I try to email you and ask me for user Id ? I bought it here in App Stores what user name ? Sorry for the respond late. When you bought the app obviously you use your password to buy the app. And you downloaded you open the app ? And works right? If you respond is yes and that case you are ok. Now you say that you press the the guitar bottom and nothing happens? Now this could be a simple problem 1. Check the guitar if the battery is charge if blink it means it is 2 when you open the guitar pro. Go on the right corner where you see a little sign square for chords where you want to learn any scale or go where it says lessons when you are on either one ones you have open and you are ready to learn. You gonna see a Bluetooth sign is like dar gray color click that one. Is going to blink until you press the bottom on your guitar. And when both are connected that Bluetooth on the cellphone will turn on blue which means is connected but make sure your guitar blinks first before you connect because if the battery is dead it will not respond to your Bluetooth I hope this help you. 2

If you play or will play, the Guitar you should get this app it’s meant you. You will end up over time know Music Theory and standard/Tab music notation. You can get a subscription and pay for your music that way. I mean monthly. Or you can just buy them song by song. Your favorites, you want to know. The app Guitar Pro players the music very well and you can adjust things like the speed it’s playing so you can play along with it. You can also adjust which instrument is playing and mute the main guitar, but let the bass and drums. Now, you are playing that song with a backup band.

I downloaded the app yesterday and put a couple of hours into fiddling with it. Although I love the idea of the app, it has proven to be frustrating. First, I signed into the associated music service (which itself was a buggy experience from my iPad). Once I finally got it all working, I spent a good hour going through the song list and adding to my favorites. Once I had a good fifty songs, or so, I was pretty happy and looking forward to learning some new tabs. My iPad went to sleep, as it does after a period of time. When I woke it up, all of my favorites were gone. Zap. No record of that hour I spent. What a PAIN! This evening I opened the app on my iPhone and somehow navigated to an offer for all of the top Guns’nRoses riffs. ‘That will be fun’, I thought. I clicked on the first tune and I was instantly transported to a completely separate page with everything in French! I kid you not. I still can’t find my way back to the GNR tabulature offer. Only one day in, and I am already frustrated. A good idea for an app that needs some intuitive help and maybe a bit more time on the oven.

  • Not for a composer Jul 3, 2018

    By Jake Marek
If you happen to be that one guy who just goes hard in the paint on guitar pro in their spare time, don’t care about learning the guitar & enjoy creating personal masterpieces with little attempt for applause from others & you do it because you love to or even if you use it just for fun cause of how awesome the pc software is you will be very disappointed with this. You can only write one track! Very limited options, or i should say it’s purely unrealistic MIDI sounds and not as good as the RSE, obviously. No eq. No fx. No changing the track to a different instrument at whatever bar you please. Oh! And my LEAST FAVORITE IS NOO DRUMMS. What! I feel like many people complain about the drums with the pc but as a drummer myself and through years of using it i am very comfortable with how they set it up. The drums from gp5 prob being my fav. I can’t even touch a drum here. Total impulse buy figured i could trust these guys since I’ve been a long time user & ACTUAL BUYER of their products. Thought wrong. Ah well a novice might be convinced this is good enough but not for the people out there like me.

I have used guitar pro since 2012. I really felt blind-sighted when I bought this app. When I saw that Guitar Pro had an app, my first thought was “my boring desk job was about to get a lot better!” My first thought was not: “I could regret not reading the fine print”. I trusted in the brand that I supported for years, so I bought it without hesitation, but when I go to use it I found that this app is almost completely useless to a composer. If you primarily use GP to compose, don’t buy this, unless you hate polyphony. Because you can only write with one track per file. I’ll admit that it was an impulse buy and I should have read it the description more closely and not let the beginning of the description sell me. I just expected more from Guitar Pro on this. TL/DR Don’t buy for composing or editing– it’s a trap!! Only supports one track per piece.

Notepad option is useless if you're composing your own music. Notes above the tabs aren't an option, only one instrument at a time and no sheet music possible to show. Extremely disappointed.

Such a headache to pick up and start writing. From the "scores" menu, if I hit the "+" it tells me I need to type something in a computer and the "notepad" seems to only utilize the first 9 frets of each string. If you're experienced in this program, give it a shot I guess, but if you're a noob like me and simply want to make tabs for material you've already written, this is more hassle than it's worth.
  • Terrible app, zero functionality, please refund Jun 3, 2019

    By John96707
Only got one star because zero wasn’t an option. Downloaded to my phone and iPad, but it’s impossible to import guitar pro files or other files from your Dropbox. It will import files from something called “mysongbook” which isn’t an app (and who still uses a desktop or laptop?) and also doesn’t import from Dropbox (it’s almost funny the complete lack of utility of these two apps except I had to pay for it). Paid for the app but when I tried to request support for imports it asked for a license key which I didn’t receive at any point in the process. Also didn’t receive a response from customer service. Update: This app still doesn’t open files from my Jumpshare or Dropbox, making it useless. FIX IT.
  • Great tool, poor design and features removed Apr 6, 2019

    By swhitlow
This is a great tool. I still use it. However, the iOS app really needs a completely new redesign. It is not easy to navigate. Also, they removed a feature I used all the time (in-browser search for guitar pro tabs) and replaced it with mySongBook search which doesn’t have nearly enough tabs yet. In addition to this, when trying to tap on a song to load from mySongBook, it doesn’t load (no error message, no nothing. Just doesn’t do anything). Trying to reach support didn’t work either. I went to their website where there was no way to contact the dev team or anyone. They really need to make some changes. But, I hope they do soon and I will come back here and update my review.
  • Oct 3, 2019

    By Kory Sericati
it's like they went out of their way to remove features that should be default. you can view the drum notation (or at least what they attempt at notating) but not the midi trigger tab view that you get on every other track? every sample cuts off the moment the playhead moves to the next note so cymbals are horribly choppy, and the responsiveness and interface aren't even on par with some free to download apps made by hobbyists. don't waste your time or money. Guitar Pro 5 was their peak.

Would be absolutely fantastic but the tempo constantly changes while playing. I held off on reviewing in hopes that they would resolve the tempo issue but it's been consistently happening for at least a year. I love the app, been playing metal guitar for 20 years and I use it for learning complex sections or solos but there is room for improvement. I would like to see the tempo issue resolved and I would like to see 0.5 increments for tempo changes when building speed.

I paid for this app and to be honest it kind of sucks. You can expect it to do the bare minimum of playing tab midis but that's just about it. It has plenty of bugs and the interface is underfeatured and lacking in affordance. Some options like Recent Files don't work predictably.

No bugs for me. Great interface. I use GTP files for songs downloaded from Sheets Happening, which work great. UPDATE: After months of use, my only complaint is that I frequently tap the big gray bar across the top and suddenly find myself in a different place in the song when I was just trying to pause/play. I would say this is partly user error for missing the play button, but I would greatly appreciate some improvement here because I do this all the time and it’s really frustrating.

Main guitar learning app for years, absolutey love it. The song list is huge, the app is flexible and compatible with the desktop version. Just wish it had better organization tools for the tabs, like folders structures. It gets crowded and confusing, couldn't export my PC folders system into the pocket app so it makes it hard to find my stuff, other than this app it's a gem.

This app is great! People don't realize that this is only supposed to be a MOBILE version of guitar pro, so of course what you can do is limited! Also, it's very possible to adjust the tempo, you just don't have to be an idiot. Very happy that I can export my mobile files into scores and then email them to myself as well. Just wish they were a little quicker to send.

    By Nick Vawter
Most of the negative reviews are because the operators neglected to read the description of the app. While you cannot compose within the application itself, it has many other uses. I use it to review my writing while I’m on the go and practice my songs in comfortable location. The only complaint I have is the sound quality is very poor and it doesn’t seem like some of the effects that I can use in GP7 translate to the mobile version. Overall, this app works as it is stated in the description and I am happy with my purchase.

Guitar Pro really is great for making your own music tablature, realistic high quality melodies, and effects. However, I have but only just one gripe that is with the options to export the files. There should be another way (besides third party sites) to translate or conversion with the transcribed riffs (You should support: .MIDI; .PDF; and/or uploading support, etc.); kinda annoyed by that! All in all, I still think it's probably one of the best digital guitar tab apps in the Google Play Store.

Wish I could give it a 4.5 star rating. App is amazing, have used it for years to record riffs or ideas on the go or to practice songs while I'm away from my computer. Which btw their computer software of the same name is absolutely glorious and I extremely reccomend purchasing, I did several years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made in my musical career. The only reason I did not give this app five stars is because you can't do certain things that you can on the pc version
  • Good enough for practicing Mar 31, 2019

    By cycojohn
It’s good enough for practicing to my songs me and my band mates write on gp5 on the pc then I import them to my phone for headphone practice. It’s also great for my cover band when people request songs I can download a gp file anywhere to learn the during our break. It’s however not best for composing and doesn’t sound as good as real instruments but that’s not why I bought it. It’s great for practicing and learning songs, highly recommended if you’re a serious musician.

I love guitar pro and have used it for years. Now I'm so happy to see a mobil version, one request I have, is please create multi track on the notepad so as to be able to create an idea on guitar and give it a bassline or drumline as well. As mobile version is pretty young I'm hoping this is in the works. otherwise, excellent work guys, a very good tool to have.

This app is great in respect to writing tabs. It has helped me a lot when I'm away from my guitar but need to let the music out. If they add the ability to layer tabs you make so you can make a whole song instead of just a layer, I daresay this app would be perfect as a mobile guitar tab app.

I’ve been using the app daily to create tabs. I love it. It has almost all music composition and guitar techniques (triplet feel, harmonics, bends with fraction ratios). You can export your creations into a PDF, GO or GPX file. I just wish for a grace note function. I have one issue with the app. My progress is not saved sometimes. I’ve worked in a project multiple times and when I return none of my work was saved 😭😔

Incredibly useful tool for learning difficult songs. But the interface is clunky as hell. Make a persistent play/pause button. I’m hitting it constantly and I have to tap the screen to bring it up. Why? Also the playback isn’t in sync with the marker as it moves across the staff. It’s off by like 1/4 note and really hurts the utility of that function. You can change the size of the staff, but that function isn’t very useful either since it does nothing to fit more notes on the screen. It just makes the staff tiny with a lot more white space. Still, it’s super useful to have all my tabs available all the time so I’d still recommend the app overall.

You guys need to update this app. Certain parts of songs where there is a duration of a note, sustain for long periods of time or indefinitely. I have to pause the playback on the tab to get the note to stop its duration. Its quite annoying as it makes the tab sound cheap or inaccurate when its not. When playing the same tabs, because there are many, on the desktop version of Guitar Pro this same occurrence does not happen. Other than that, the app is great.
  • Good updates but needs finer tempo control Jun 26, 2020

    By Dmm138
You can only speed up or slow down the tempo by 10%. There is a big difference in BPM incremented by 10%. If you have a song that’s 180 BPM, and you slow down by 10%, you’re down to 162 BPM. There is currently no way to adjust between those tempos. That’s a huge jump when you’re trying to learn a difficult section. Also if you are practicing a section and have several tracks muted, if you minimize the app then open it later, all the muted tracks have been changed to solo tracks and you have to go back and re-mute them. Please fix these issues.
  • Horrible UI but useful tool Apr 18, 2018

    By cosmic.iron
The UI needs work. The bottom bar cannot be hidden and wastes too much space. On the iPhone version the tab can only be displayed on one horizontal line so given the limited screen space it is virtually unusable. Automatically flow the display into multiple lines shouldn’t be this hard, right? As it is now, it is an indispensable tool for me cause I need to handle those Guitar Pro files... but it is also one of the most frustrating apps that I’d like to avoid using as much as possible. Please! This app has the potential to become truly great, so please improve it ASAP!
  • Good app for viewing tabs Feb 8, 2018

    By Mace
Good for viewing tabs with nice options. The new version supports GP v7 files which is much needed. Only 3 stars because it is not possible to view “multitrack” on the iPad. With the iPad Pro and such, there is plenty of screen size to support this, at least 2 or 3 tracks at a time. This is a much needed feature for a lot of tabs out there tab “guitar 1” and “guitar 2” and so on. “guitar 1” will have rests while “guitar 2” plays. Or “guitar 1” solos while “guitar 2” has rhythm. So, being able to see both guitar tracks at once is much easier than flipping between tracks.

  • Please Refund - Disappointed loyal customer Jun 26, 2018

No songs and when I sign in to play my songs on this app. It gave me piano version only. Not very user friendly.

But, I hope they do soon and I will come back here and update my review.

it's like they went out of their way to remove features that should be default. you can view the drum notation (or at least what they attempt at notating) but not the midi trigger tab view that you get on every other track? every sample cuts off the moment the playhead moves to the next note so cymbals are horribly choppy, and the responsiveness and interface aren't even on par with some free to download apps made by hobbyists. don't waste your time or money. Guitar Pro 5 was their peak.
  • Hidden Monthly Fee!? For what? Jul 11, 2020

    By Flomaticc
Purchased this app thinking it would really help with my guitar and it wasn’t a bad app but juts now it charged me $14 as a monthly reoccurring fee. What a joke, Yet another greedy app wanting monthly charges LOL you do NOT HELP THE GUITAR COMPANY AT ALL. It’s upsetting when apps like this that could help start stealing from you. $300 a year? LOL that’s how much you think this is worth? Ableton live and pro tools industry standard programs that have a ONE TIME FEE. Bad business and engineers who could careless about us Guitar artists. Seriously. Don’t buy this app getting my refund right now. Buy an app that doesn’t look for monthly charges because they exist and are better than this junk
