13 Jun 2019 update: images work again, so it’s actually usable again. If anyone at Google reads this: thanks for the fix! 15 May 2019: Not sure when user-submitted spherical views stopped working, but I get nothing but black screens and spinners in this app and when looking at images in Google Maps, both on my iPhone and iPad (iOS 12.2 and 12.3). I see others with the same issues when searching the Google support pages, including those using brand new Windows laptops (running IE, Chrome, and Firefox). No solutions in anything I found. Only place I’ve seen user-submitted images work is when accessing through the Safari app on iOS (a very clunky workaround at best). Will increase my rating and update this review when resolved.

I do really like this app, BUT the main reason I have it is that I want to be able to 'visit' locations by viewing VR photos with my VR glasses. This feature used to be available, but now barely any of the images seem to be available in VR; instead, you just get a 360 photo that you can scroll with your finger! It isn't nearly as immersive. Also, there used to be thousands of VR photos that you could view for any location - now there are barely any! Love the museum exhibitions, though :D

This app is beyond exceptional, it’s really great and i think more people should use it. i know i kind of sound like a robot writing a good review so that more people download the app but i’m not. this app is really helpful and really informative. one time i was using it and i was looking for a friends house; using this app i found a ton of fun stuff to do around her house and we actually weren’t bored that day but, anyway back to the point, this app is really good and if you are reading this review before you get the app, i highly suggest that you do because, it’s helpful in so many ways and i think it will make your life easier when trying to see what a neighborhood is like or, to see what’s around a house that you are interested in. overall i honestly, truly think that you should get this app.

Having great fun. GSV is a great tool for everyone to use. When I upload a bunch of photos at one time, I sometimes get the error "No Wifi" when I am in my office and have great Wifi. So I am not sure what to say about that. However, having these photos now connect i.e. Camera spot 1 to 2 to 3 and so on and editing the direction that is shown as the thumbnail prior to uploading so you are giving the best view / direction of the 360 is fantastic. Then taking it a step further and editing the listing to match you GPS pin point location in Google Map and adding the parking location. Now this bring the service to the public to a whole new level. The new roll out of GSV and Google Maps is truly exciting. Data Fuels the Cannon, Technology Ignites It.

If you take a 360 photo on your phone or camera and move it to this app. You can change the location (not the address, the actual exact place the pic was taken.). But when editing the photo and putting it in the correct place. You have to be able to see the pic at the bottom of the screen where you can edit the view or map... You can do that. Until you publish it. You can press select and try to change the place but at the bottom, the pic is just white so you can’t see the pic. This is a lot and I’m guessing nobody understood this. But google, please take this into consideration to fix.

  • Following Route At Street-Level Absolute Pain Jul 20, 2020

    By Wolfgang Treehouser
Immediately after I reported that searching by address doesn’t work, there was an update that fixed that. I had just acquired this app, so I don’t know whether it caused the following problems, or if they were already present. I tried to trace a route from my house to a point a couple of miles away, using the street-level view. Every few blocks the blue line would disappear and further progress would be stopped. The only way to proceed is to switch to the map view and advance the little man, whereupon he skips over the segment of road that can’t be covered at street-level. Upon returning to street-level, you may find yourself facing down the street in the wrong direction. Further confusing the matter is that in the map view the line is continuous, not broken, giving one no warning of what to expect. If the reason for the breaks is that people have requested to not have their houses in the street-level view, then a database for taking that into account in the map view exists. Another annoyance is intersections. Most, though, oddly, not all of them, have the lines crossing not at right angles, but in this weird zigzag that is treacherous to attempt to navigate. Occasionally, one can sometimes hop over it, but other times you wind up on the cross street or several blocks behind where you were. One time the app shut down.

The new version is disheartening on so many levels. Most saddening is the removal of VR support so you cannot enjoy any location in VR. That's beat my whole purpose of using Street View. Next, it has become extremely difficult to use. To discover new places is just a pain now as previews have gone now. Blue dots and the yellow man - all gone. You gotta zooom deep down to a particular place for the photospheres/street views to even appear. Then, no preview. Click, then pray what you will see. :-p

Google please sort this app.... Can't search for a particular street anymore, also the blue directional lines do not work very well. Often when you tap the line to take you down the street, it zooms in and just freezes. Whatever have they done to this once useful app? Please give us back the old version, and quickly!!

Welcome to Big Brother! This app fascinating as it may be is embrassing - I don't want people spending all day gazing at the screen looking at my house. I would tell them to clear off. This is an app for nosey-parkers! Also many country roads are included - why not just stick with streets only, as the title of the app suggests, and just stick with towns and High Streets? People only use this app to look at someone's house or garden. It's can't be used like a map.

I am a high school teacher who invested time and money while traveling the world taking 360 images for my students that I uploaded to Google Street View for them to experience in VR mode. I purchased Google Cardboard viewers and created a number of lessons for the classroom. Last August when prepping for the new year I noticed that the VR option resulted in a black screen only. I deleted the app and reinstalled a number of times. I reached out to Google. I received questions about what version I was using. I noticed many other frustrated educators doing the same. It is now November 2019. Crickets. We have heard nothing and nothing is fixed. Complete lack of communication. Spare yourself if you are looking for VR feature. It is incredibly disheartening that Google has dropped the ball and left teachers high and dry.

I’m in love! I can pop in almost anywhere in the whole wide world and experience it from wherever I am. I can revisit places I’ve been before and/or lived before and take a walk down memory lane...or pop in and experience somewhere I may never get to see in person. I feel like I just got to revisit my favorite beach in California where I spent a great many hours, an amusement park where I used to work, and the city center in the town where I used to live. Next, I’m going to drop into the Eiffel Tower area to reminisce from my European vacation!

  • Lots of gunk on my tiny screen Nov 18, 2019

    By Fgjfsfbcdhkvdfjjg
I have a phone with a small screen. Their mandatory tabs on the bottom take up about 30% of the screen, and the stuff on top takes another 20%. And the mandatory stuff on the bottom is usually stuff I don’t want. The only reason I use this app is to make spherical pictures. The interface is unenviable but I don’t know of any other app that takes and stitches spherical pictures.

I used to be able to save these photos to my phone but since this last time I updated, I can’t find that option. Since the name of the app overlaps with other google services, it’s hard to find help online with it. Wish it wasn’t called street view.

Hey, Google If I type in an address. I just want you to get the street view in front of that house. Don’t suggest near by homes or anything else. Why would you not just put me, the little orange man, and my screen directly in front of the address I input? I get it, this is a first world problems rant and I should just let this go. It’s let go. Thank you for this platform to get silly things off my chest. I still like the app because I can’t do what satellites can do. 3 stars.

the biggest problem of this app is that maps are not in position correctly. All the positions shown on the map are more northwest than they actually are. So every time I upload photos I have to manually change the location. It's difficult to operate and inaccurate. But everything is correct when I open Google Maps app, so the problem obviously occurred in this app only.

⛔⚠️ I cannot see the Cardboard icon in Street View!! Thave a OnePlus 7Pro and the cardboard works fine in the Cardboard app, YouTube 360 videos, etc. However, when I am trying to follow instructions online to use Cardboard in Google Maps Street View, I can't find the Cardboard icon in any Street View I see. It appears only after I clear cash and stop applications just for one time, then, it disappears.

  • Crap App for iPhone X Jan 5, 2018

I am using Google Maps since its launch. I used to admire the street view of UK when I visited there. I use GSV in U.S even now from the maps when I go to a new destination. I was too eager and installed it as soon as I saw it in App Store. But the app is unresponsive and keeps crashing. It worked only once and I saw a view of some Astronomical Lab that was on home page by default. However the app went unresponsive and kept crashing just after that. I can't imagine the app could be so crappy on iPhone X running 11.2.1 (latest). I'm highly disappointed with Google Street View. Please fix the bugs and release a better version. I'm not uninstalling it hoping there will be an update. I will come back and edit this review if the app starts working again.
