    I HATE THIS APP!!! AHH it's the worst. It freezes when you have it in offline mode and want to watch a movie. I'm on a god damn pixel book and any movie or tv show that I haven't finished, or want to skip forward gives me a "error". 8/21/2019 Update- Still sucks! I got this super fancy pixel book and the app keeps crashing on startup. BUT IT'S OK GOOGLE, I DIDN"T WANT TO WATCH MOVIES ON MY FLIGHT. I will, always, tell people to stay away from google prodcuts. They can't afford a QA person.

    App is fine but Google policies and customer service are terrible! I purchased a movie, Captain Marvel, and wanted to share it with my daughter (who is starting college) on our family account, but it wasn't available... Contacted customer service and was told I had used the "wrong payment method" and either have to buy again (wasn't an option, SINCE I ALREADY OWNED IT), or give my daughter full access to my Google account. Ridiculous! Consider other options if you can...

  • Can’t download the videos I’d purchased 😭

    Everything was peaches until by mistake I deleted the movie I’d purchased. I tried to download it again and the second movie I’ve purchased from this app but I can’t download it. The main reason I got this app and made purchases was because of my 2 year old who loves “Finding Dory” so I bought the movie from Google Play. It worked sure fine when I bought back in middle of December. I’d recently purchased “The Lion King” and my son loves it. I tried to download it to his iPad and by mistake I deleted his “Finding Dory” movie so I thought it wasn’t going to be a big deal if I just download it again but IT IS NOT WORKING!!!! I have done everything... and when I mean everything, I did everything. Obviously got in touch with “Support” and the guy tried to help me as much as he could but didn’t solve the problem. I am upset that I can’t download the movies to my son’s iPad, we have to sit in traffic for near two hrs and that was my only way to keep him entertained but not anymore. Please GOOGLE have an update soon and fix this issue. Sincerely, a desperate mom! 🙏🏻

    I'm beginning to think this app is a scam! I cannot watch the movie I purchased because there is a constant message telling me it is a server connection problem and to try again later!!!!!!I bought it in early July and have NEVER been able to connect and watch it. I sent them an email and they have yet to reply. I said I want a refund and to cancel my account. It looks like I'll just have to eat my $5.00.

    I downloaded this app so I can watch movies on my IPad Pro. After seeing how great this looks I started to download all my movies for offline viewing. It took me three days and a lot of internet use but I finally downloaded all of them. After a few weeks and an update to my IPad all of my movies show they are not downloaded and now I have to repeat this process. Really?!! What sense does it make for me to go through that long process again and wonder if this will happen again. I’m not sure who is at fault, Apple because they hate that I won’t purchase their movies,or Google because they hate I’m watching it on the IPad. There is no guarantee this won’t happen again, and I don’t want to burn through unnecessary data. SOMEBODY PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!!!

    All I get are can't fetch liscense errors when trying to watch a download movie off-line. And I've tried all of Googles "fixes". Update 5/9/19...problems are still there. cant watch rented movies that are downloaded, or owned movies that are downloaded. Clearing all the caches is temporary fix. Only works once. App has serious problems and Google isnt addressing them. update 8/13/19...same problems. simply pausing causes problem. only temp solution is to uninstall/reinstall.

    I live in a rural location & Internet speed is quite slow the main thing I like about this app is I can download videos & play them through TVs without buffering. There are a LOT of things I do not like about the app - the biggest annoyances are 1) you cannot buy movies through the app 2) the algorithm for "recommended by play" is either badly flawed or does not take into account my purchase history 3) it would really be nice if there was an "ignore list" so that videos that do not interest me would not keep being listed 4) there is not an age level block on the “recommended” list — needed if you want to hand an iPad to a young child I have seen several people indicating they have playback problems. As I mentioned my Internet access is quite slow but I have had good luck downloading movies to my iPad & watching them on a TV that has a Chromecast plugged into HDMI. This also works well when my wife & I visit with our children while their children watch a movie from my iPad on the TV.

    App stops downloading movies randomly w/only fix being to delete app and start over. galaxy s9 plus. i download almost every movie i own (>100) and have never had a problem until recently. While downloading any video, app stops downloading (mobile or wifi). The usual fixes, reset cache, network, phone, etc do not work. Plenty of storage on my sd card! Customer service could not help, only giving me the usual steps. the only option: delete the app. 3rd time in 1 week.

    This app USED to be four stars (five of it had filters and sorting of Watch list). But they got rid of the Top Banner and Andriod notifications when watch list Movies were added to a new provider. Half the reason of this app was so you knew when your Saved Movies came on a provider like Hulu, Tubi, etc. Now the app is mostly useless for provider tracking so I'll use Reelgood instead.

    I rented a film only to find out that the app keeps force dimming the display to its lowest brightness making it impossible to view the film. Yes, I checked my settings and turned my brightness to 100% with the auto-brightness turned off. Fix this problem, please.

    When I buy a movie that’s supposed to be 4K or at least better than regular HD, I’d expect to get what I pay for. Now I get to watch a somewhat HD version of Interstellar after purchasing the 4K version. Not to happy about that. I would think it wouldn’t matter that the devices I’ve tried watching them on are new (iPhone X and 2nd generation iPad Pro)! I guess I’ll just had to go back to punching video contact on iTunes. Thought google would treat me well, but I guess I was wrong. Gave 2 stars because my movie was a bit cheaper than other platforms... I guess I see why now.

    When it works it's good but so often has issues. Especially with downloading. As it right now I need to basically manually control the download by both keeping my phone unlocked, the app open and regularly switching between the exact movie/show I'm downloading and the overall list so I can actually make sure its downloading. Everything else gives a failure to download notice

    I wanted to rent a movie using google play’s service because I got 99 cent rental offer when I bought a new TV. The problem is, how do I watch the rental? Google play movies app is not available and does not cast to Apple TV, Xbox One, Playstation 4, or any device I can think of... I am not really sure what the purpose of this app is. If its just to watch movies on your phone then it Is really useless because there are a ton of apps for that and you can even buy movies on the other apps. I cannot recommend this app until it explains why it should exist.

    I just wanted to rent one movie online and this is one of the few options that pops up to do that. Turns out I have to download the movie using WiFi I don’t have access to. A message keeps popping up saying I can’t watch this movie offline without downloading. I do not have access to WiFi because I have unlimited data on my phone and don’t need WiFi for anything else because I have EXCELLENT service where I am at. The fact that I just paid to watch a movie just to find out that I can not watch that movie is COMPLETE BULL SH!T. I wish I had paid attention to the other reviews. There are so many other options out there. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP.

    Hey, GooglePlay, could you maybe NOT be a slow-assed, piece of crap?! I can’t watch a single thing because you keep buffering and losing connection every 2 to 6 minutes! And I KNOW it’s not the WiFi cuz every other app I use works just fine! It’s ONLY YOU that can’t seem to work properly! I’m paying money just to watch each movie and tv show (which isn’t the easiest thing to afford in this day and age), I’d at least like to be able to watch the whole thing without your stupid loading circle thing every 3 minutes! What is the point in having your app anywhere if it’s impossible to watch any content?! 🤬🤬🤬

    the app broke my phone. tried to load a movie from my library. it got stuck, with the loading circle going round for about 5mins. phone wouldn't respond, then screen turned black and hasn't worked since. Bought a new phone, downloaded the app and it keeps disabling itself. It's not showing up in my list of downloaded apps and can only access if online.

    Every time ai rent a movie it stops playing. It does it several times saying “Error”. It gets very old starting a movie over and over and fast forwarding to where I was. Sometimes accidentally going too far and seeing ahead. When I went to report it, the “Describe your issue” feature was also broken and the app would close completely causing me again, to start over and over. Now I’m leaving feedback here. If this didn’t bug out, it would be the best app out there Roku tv. Wifi and hardline both experienced the issue. I did all troubleshooting suggestions. Still bugged out.

    What is going on with this app? Now my movie library shows every extra/special feature in with the full movies? As i scroll through it looks like I own about sixteen copies of Black Panther. That's incredibly stupid. I can't honestly believe that Google don't have the resources to put together reliable intuitive apps.

    Has some issues. Since the last update its been defaulting closed captioning to on regardless of settings in the app. It also has been having problems finding downloaded content when offline for a while now. Itll eventually find movies, but it almost never will find episodes of a show. Itll show you the series for shows, but not individual episodes.

    Supposed to load the download to my HUGE SD CARD BUT after 2 movies finally download to find out I have no more room for anything else 😭 I have checked & rechecked and corrected it is sd card. finally found out why I can't get to load & stay no one knows what size sd card works best for my moto z3 . seems it is just 128gb boy were them idiot sales person 2 tb tried 1TB AND NOT WORK SO 256 GB STILL NOTHING SO 128GB. WHY DO I NEED EXPENSIVE CELL NO BIGGER SD THAN THE JUNK SAMSUNG.

    Really not good, they seem to have given up on it. This app has not improved in ages and got worse a few weeks ago when closed caption started being turned on when playing a movie/show despite disabling them in settings (on all my devices). Also missing some basic features like only displaying the downloaded episodes in a serie/season.

    I find it a bit annoying I cannot rent or buy movies directly from my phone within the app. I have to open a browser on my phone to rent or purchase any content and then return to the app in order to watch it. My second issue may not be Google’s fault since they are in competition with Apple but wouldn’t it be great to have Google Movies and TV as an app for Apple TV? Please continue to improve the app and listen to reviews so you can improve your services. Thanks.

    I can't cast this to my Vizio m501d-a2. Every movie and show comes up with error 300 from the TVs native app, and it's suddenly not displaying as an option to cast to, so I can't even play movies from my phone. completely crappy experience right now. i love Google products, i really hope they fix this soon.

    After buying a 30 min episode - I have spent almost 2 hours trying to get it to work. Following all of the ‘trouble shooting’ through pages and pages of instructions. Being so frustrated with it in the end, I decided to get a refund and was presented with a further list of instructions that is so over the top, I won’t even bother. Which is probably the whole point- so they get to keep the money because they have zero customer support and pages of instructions designed to make you give up on it.

    don't waste your time or money use iTunes. redeemed a bluray code. was supposed to be HD. Google gave me SD movie looks terrible quality. customer service is miserable- they take zero responsibility. refused to help after being long time loyal customer - stay away! Google charges extra for 4K which iTunes includes for free.

    It used to be I could watch my offline shows and movies for months with my iPad or iPhone 5s without having to connect to the internet. As I live where internet is intermittent. I have to connect to the internet after only a few episodes. And the worst part is now I have to have internet to use airplay mirror. This used to be a great app. I wish I could get my money back. I will be going to iTunes because when I buy something there isn't all the restrictions like on here.

    Within the past few days when I try to watch a movie to watch that I have downloaded to view without having to have a strong internet connection, it just shows the loading screen. It will not play the movie. I deleted the download and tried to download it again and it just does the same thing. If I delete the download I can watch the movie that way, but that is not what I want it do.

    Cannot purchase or rent items from the app. Very inconvenient and not user friendly. The “how do I watch this” link on an item page does not even answer the question. It merely states that purchasing is not supported on this device. What’s the easiest way to rent/buy a movie and watch it? Without a streamlined solution the end-user is going to default to the Apple iTunes Store. Hope your happy Alphabet!

    So I will give this app 2 stars because it allows you to watch movies and tv you have purchased from the Google Play store. However, this is really only half an app because you cannot purchase movies or tv from the app. Will rate 5 stars if this gets included. Aside from that, app works perfectly fine - just a huge oversight leaving the store part out of this app (I can’t throw my money at you either :-/).

    Just downloaded this app because it is the only service that offers "The Taking of Deborah Logan" streaming. I love the security of being able to use PayPal. I went thru the motions linking Google Play with my PayPal account, went to purchase a movie, and guess what...DECLINED! How embarrassing! I then begrudgingly entered my same PayPal card number directly to the Google app payment options, and lo and behold no problems...not a good omen when your very FIRST transaction doesn't come to fruition!

People aren’t random, over 70% of USA is white, google is only 55% white and they are desperately trying to lower that! The only way to “appear” to not be racist is to actually be systemically racist. Equality of opportunity is democracy. Equality of outcome is communism. Olympics are fair, but the podium is never politically correct/equal. You shouldn’t punish Norway for too many gold medals and “Norway privilege.” #boycottgoogle #cathynewnaninterview

    Google should let buyers/renters know that you can not watch movies unless you download the play store app, I now have 26 days to buy try and get this movie viewed by my daughter before it expires. It won’t even let me pull the movie up on her phone via my google account. They should not sell movies to people that don’t have access to a google phone, as I could have rented the movie from iTunes and had no problem. 😡

    This app allows purchase of seasons however most episodes don’t appear in a timely manner… Sometimes not for several days or weeks. Also, after downloading a show that You have purchased you are NOT able to PLAY it on your television and must stream it through the Internet instead, which can completely defeats the purpose of downloading it in the first place. SOOOO FRUSTRATING!

    Google please fix this app. I have been waiting months. Pease fix the black bars appearing on sides of iPad Pro 11” for all Google Apps. They currently look aweful and unusable. At moment I am still very loyal to Google ecosystem mostly because up until this iPad 11, movies or music from Google play worked on all my devices. Seems you want to change that. I'm switching out of your ecosystem if you don't fix this asap.

I get these black bars I can’t do anything about, and even worse you get small ones on the top and bottom when watching a wide screen movie.     So before I went on vacation, I downloaded a load of movies with my personal Gmail Account. During the vacation I added a couple of G Suite accounts; all of my movies are tied to my personal account yet Google Play decided to log me out of my personal account, log me into an account I haven’t used in years, and left me without any downloaded movies. I logged back into my personal account only to find that all my movies were removed, but in Settings, it showed that I had 17GB of data used for downloaded movies stuck within the Play Movies app. So disappointed, going to Movies Anywhere or back to Apple TV, Google must have used interns to test this app!

  • Need zoom feature and fix low quality

    Used this app on an iPhone X and Xs max and it needs the feature to pinch to zoom. All the movies are in the correct format to watch full screen on these phones but you can cause it won’t let you dull screen it. Also the quality is horrible. Does this only allow you watch in 720p? It looks terrible on the iPad.

    It’s a good streamer but only when connected to WiFi. It won’t stream over network and trying to use the help and support section crashes the app. Not to mention you cannot purchase anything from the app itself. You need to go to a different app, make a purchase then return to this one to stream it.

    Google made a big announcement they would be upgrading pwoole's HD movies to 4K with alerts telling us when we got the upgrades. It appears that's impossible on iPhone. I know this is a competitor platform but giving us a half-baked app that ok not provides half the functionality is not a good way to entice Apple users to switch.

    Only limited functionalities are working for all accounts. Legacy accounts will not be able to share Content among family members. Terrible when you can not buy a movie for your kids if you are not in the same room. Sometimes stupid limitation will cost a client. I have to buy my digital content somewhere else 🙁

    I have multiple Apple TV’s and multiple iPads yet I cannot get sound to work whenever I use either iPad and Airplay it to either TV. The video is there but there is no sound. And then when the iPad screen inevitably turns off from no use it stops playing on the TV. Google...make an App for the Apple TV. This is TERRIBLE unless you want to watch videos on your iPad. TERRIBLE!

I have the hardest time trying to play the movies I have purchased from this app, it skips, and pulls the whole “we’re having trouble playing this movie” bit. I wish I could take all my movies from this app and put them somewhere else lol. Come one Google, get with it.

    There has been a bug for years where if you have a lot of content downloaded and toggle “downloaded-only” to on it will take 10+ minutes to load. At first I had this on an iphone 6s, and now again with an iphone xr. google obviously doesn’t care about ios. i have a $3k+ library in google play and will be switching to itunes

    Simply plays and stores your purchases. Doesn’t track what you play so you can tell where you left off. Doesn’t allow you to easily skip back and forth if you miss something. Doesn’t allow you to delete things you’ve bought.

    I rented a movie and tried to play it but I will only play for 15 minutes at a time and then I would have to turn off my TV and unplug my Wi-Fi router in order for it to continue playing at first I thought it was a Wi-Fi problem but after I fixed it it turned out to just be the app I do not recommend!

    Using a generation one Chromecast. The app is extremely unstable. I have to power cycle my phone in order to connect. During playback, I consistently lose the ability to control what is playing. I am using the most recent version, updated three minutes ago. Please make your app more stable.

    Only buying from iTunes from now on. Bought a movie so I could download it and watch without internet. Downloaded on my iPad, and all the sudden "my offline capabilities have expired". Their help center is also extremely unhelpful and did not resolve the issue.

    If there was an option for zero star I choose that one, I bought a movie $12 and it’s been more than 4 hours I’m still watching it!!!! The video stop and reloaded more than 10 times! Please don’t waste your time and your money for this !!

    Absolutely terrible. You never finish a single movie! A time out is inevitable and constantly crashes when the movie is playing. Worse on the Samsung television!!! Seriously, get your act together Google.

    Used this app on an iPhone X and Xs max and it needs the feature to pinch to zoom. All the movies are in the correct format to watch full screen on these phones but you can cause it won’t let you dull screen it. Also the quality is horrible. Does this only allow you watch in 720p? It looks terrible on the iPad.

    It’s a good streamer but only when connected to WiFi. It won’t stream over network and trying to use the help and support section crashes the app. Not to mention you cannot purchase anything from the app itself. You need to go to a different app, make a purchase then return to this one to stream it.

    I downloaded this app so I can watch movies on my IPad Pro. After seeing how great this looks I started to download all my movies for offline viewing. It took me three days and a lot of internet use but I finally downloaded all of them. After a few weeks and an update to my IPad all of my movies show they are not downloaded and now I have to repeat this process. Really?!! What sense does it make for me to go through that long process again and wonder if this will happen again. I’m not sure who is at fault, Apple because they hate that I won’t purchase their movies,or Google because they hate I’m watching it on the IPad. There is no guarantee this won’t happen again, and I don’t want to burn through unnecessary data. SOMEBODY PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!!!

    The app works okay for what I need it, but is it very annoying that the new iPad Pros have been out for 8months or so, yet the screen size is still no supported. Can you please just update the app to support the new screen sizes?

    Yes it’s cheaper than on iTunes but not worth the headache of constant interruptions. Btw those are not due to slow internet. It’s Google Play. They should have called it Google Stop.

    Over the course of six years I bought almost 100 movies on Google play. I loved the service and the ability to watch the movies anywhere and keep them forever. Well, this came to an end when I had to switch email addresses. My new email address was also Gmail but even though I spoke with customer service a representative and a manager they refuse to switch the movies I’ve paid for from one Gmail account to the other. Even though I could verify they were both my accounts. Not only will I be buying movies from amazon in the future but I am now slowly phasing out any Google products that I have.

    When I launch this app first thing Google says is it wants access to my microphone so it can hear the signal from the TV. No problem, I give it permission. It says to turn the TV off of mute so the app can hear the TV emit a sound containing the code. So I do that. Turn the volume way up. No sound ever comes from the TV. So eventually Google says just go ahead and enter the code manually and press Next. So I enter the code that’s on the TV and I press next and nothing happens. I tap the next button about 100 times, and nothing at all happens. No errors, no ackknowledgement, nothing. I tried this several times with different codes that the TV gave me, tried exiting the app on the TV and on the phone and re-launching them. No joy. This app doesn’t work. Goodbye.

    I open the app and I get "Recommended by Play" and a list of movies in screen- covering size. Nothing else. No genres... No options.. Just a search box.

    I have a large google play movies collection I love to watch on my iPad. Sadly since buying my new iPad Pro the movies don’t play in full screen, instead showing a 1 inch bar on the left and right. Oddly the YouTube app will play the same movies in full screen but Google doesn’t permit downloading movies in the YouTube app. Will go back to 5 stars when I can watch movies in full screen.

    I have multiple Apple TV’s and multiple iPads yet I cannot get sound to work whenever I use either iPad and Airplay it to either TV. The video is there but there is no sound. And then when the iPad screen inevitably turns off from no use it stops playing on the TV. Google...make an App for the Apple TV. This is TERRIBLE unless you want to watch videos on your iPad. TERRIBLE!

    I missed half an hour of an episode of a CBS show and my on demand will let you watch but no fast forward allowed. So I’d have to sit for 90 minutes waiting for the part I missed. So Google Play says I can see the episode for 1.99. Okay. Fine The website says I can only watch on an iPhone or IPad. Okay why? Don’t argue. Just download the app. I did. It seems to recognize me fine but won’t allow for “in-app” purchases? Look for help but it is nowhere to be found. Delete the app because this is a complete waste of my time. It’s just TV and it makes no sense to be this frustrated for a problem created by a bad DTV DVR and CBS incompetence

    Just downloaded this app because it is the only service that offers "The Taking of Deborah Logan" streaming. I love the security of being able to use PayPal. I went thru the motions linking Google Play with my PayPal account, went to purchase a movie, and guess what...DECLINED! How embarrassing! I then begrudgingly entered my same PayPal card number directly to the Google app payment options, and lo and behold no problems...not a good omen when your very FIRST transaction doesn't come to fruition!

    When I buy a movie that’s supposed to be 4K or at least better than regular HD, I’d expect to get what I pay for. Now I get to watch a somewhat HD version of Interstellar after purchasing the 4K version. Not to happy about that. I would think it wouldn’t matter that the devices I’ve tried watching them on are new (iPhone X and 2nd generation iPad Pro)! I guess I’ll just had to go back to punching video contact on iTunes. Thought google would treat me well, but I guess I was wrong. Gave 2 stars because my movie was a bit cheaper than other platforms... I guess I see why now.

    This app sucked the second I downloaded it. Rented an episode and it will not play. It just keeps buffering. All of my other apps are working perfectly. Would not recommend. Not worth it.

    Within the past few days when I try to watch a movie to watch that I have downloaded to view without having to have a strong internet connection, it just shows the loading screen. It will not play the movie. I deleted the download and tried to download it again and it just does the same thing. If I delete the download I can watch the movie that way, but that is not what I want it do.

    Tried setting up with Roku got all the way to enter code and it would not allow me to hit next. Worse I tried giving feedback and when you go to click to start typing feedback it kicks you out of app. Great work Google thanks for wasting my time I’m going with Amazon tv instead now

    This is the WORST app I have in my phone. I have unfortunately purchased several movies through here. I have the hardest time trying to play the movies I have purchased from this app, it skips, and pulls the whole “we’re having trouble playing this movie” bit. I wish I could take all my movies from this app and put them somewhere else lol. Come one Google, get with it.

    Going On 6 months since the iPad Pro 2018 launched, and for some reason google can’t update google play to not have big black bars n the sides of the screen. Congrats, you made me start buying movies in apple’s store now, way to screw that up, guys.

    Completely missing some of the most basic things you’d expect from a video player. Things like a way to skip ahead 10/30/whatever seconds and to rewind option, etc. Also, you can’t buy films/shows from the app (because Google and Apple hate each other obviously), no, you have to sign on to your account from a pc (or I’m just guessing an Android device would work too) and make the purchase there. I can live with that last complaint. Having no basic control over things like fast forwarding or rewinding though is just sad and pathetic really.

    Google made a big announcement they would be upgrading pwoole's HD movies to 4K with alerts telling us when we got the upgrades. It appears that's impossible on iPhone. I know this is a competitor platform but giving us a half-baked app that ok not provides half the functionality is not a good way to entice Apple users to switch.

    Google please fix this app. I have been waiting months. Pease fix the black bars appearing on sides of iPad Pro 11” for all Google Apps. They currently look aweful and unusable. At moment I am still very loyal to Google ecosystem mostly because up until this iPad 11, movies or music from Google play worked on all my devices. Seems you want to change that. I'm switching out of your ecosystem if you don't fix this asap.

    I have google home, google home app, and play movies app. Still not enough to watch a movie. Requires that I go to my computer to play the move from there. 2 devices and 2 apps later. 1 movie. Google, you can do better than this.

    I'm rating this app 1 star because on my Roku you don't show movie ratings. You somehow think showing ratings is going to make me slip over a badly rated movie. Yes it's true. But having no ratings means I skip over all the movies because now I don't use the APP at all. I use Amazon because they show movie ratings. Way to shoot yourself in the foot Google!

    Google should let buyers/renters know that you can not watch movies unless you download the play store app, I now have 26 days to buy try and get this movie viewed by my daughter before it expires. It won’t even let me pull the movie up on her phone via my google account. They should not sell movies to people that don’t have access to a google phone, as I could have rented the movie from iTunes and had no problem. 😡
