Worst pay app ever don't use
Jun 7, 2022 By de ceeFor three weeks I had $420 in my Google pay app for some reason they wanted to verify my identity which I did over and over and over all of my documents are up-to-date and legit then they proceeded to tell me I did not have the app as I am talking to them in the app after that it was Java Script is turned off which it was not there is an excuse every single day for three weeks for no reason at all except to toy with me more -

They pretty much say Fuck you even though it's fraudulent spending. NEVER had this problem with Apple. Will be switching back as soon as I can get this phone gone. more -

I had to read through reviews on the play store to figure out how to access accounts that weren't credit cards - session ticket membership and covid vaccine. It turns out you can access them by clicking on the center bar up top, which says "set up contactless", and gives no indication that is an access point. more -

A plus on all fronts; userbility, navigation, compatibility, intergration, and security, while maintaining its user friendly appeal, all together delivering with a peace of mind. more -
Can’t Buy Gas

Almost all of them allow me to move money into my main bank without fees. Yes, most charge to instantly add to a debit card. If I can connect a bank account to Google Pay, it’s not anywhere as easy to do as the other cash apps. But my BIGGEST frustration with this app is I use this for mostly driving a customer around. I sure wish I could buy gas with it. I read all over the Internet on how to do it. The instructions are simple and clear. Just tap the “Pay” tab and scroll down to “Get Gas”. Problem is, there is hardly anything to scroll through… There are two things to pick from, food and parking. NOTHING about getting gas. This app is extremely difficult to figure, far more than it needs to be. Again, I’m only using it because I have a customer who only uses it. Apple Pay is worlds better than this app. Please! Let me buy gas with it!!!! more -

First off, it's crazy convoluted to get to a transit card for example. Another thing is they're on the right track with spending insights, but bring in budgeting and income vs expenses, and other useful money management features. I would bet that's your easiest way to draw people into your app the quickest. more -

Works great but sometimes do unexpected things
Jun 17, 2022 By shank JainI am not sure if Google is aware but many times when there is an update that kicks off, my all the cards are unusable and I have to reauthorize each one of them which means we are dead if we are outside and don’t have access to all the cards. Main issue, Whenever I sign in to my other phone (I have two phones) with my same email on google pay, it kicks me out of my other phone. Lastly, I see some card are still not supported like eBay Mastercard to name one with Goggle Pay until now. more -
Unnecessary evolution
May 2, 2021 By mbwelchIt feels like forcing people onto a new app just for the sake of change. In my opinion, this new app is more confusing and less usable than the previous. It’s not very clear to find out where to go to transfer money, view your balance, etc. Also there’s no way to quickly repeat a transaction. I request monthly payments from family members. In the previous app there was a “request again” option. Not anymore. If you’re going to force everyone to switch to a new app, please at least make it a better experience. more

You have to navigate through three screens to access your tickets, and there is no indication of how to do so. I know it's not technically a wallet app, but come on. Not only that, but upon accessing your tickets, if you do not have a saved payment method, the app opens up your camera unprompted to try to get you to add a credit card! I look forward to unistalling when done with it. more -
Beware! New App is Horrible!

It’s so disappointing to have an app that you love and then go to use it one day only to discover everything you loved about it has changed. Typically, I like updates. This one, however, is horribly unnecessarily complicated. Plus, the new “update” includes being forced to pay a fee for instant deposit when using a debit card. Really Google? I HAVE to pay $15 to transfer $1000 out of my Google ACCT to my bank account if I’m using my debit card? But if I want to use my bank, it will take “up to” 5 days. No worries. I’ll wait. The absolute worst new update I discovered was when I tried to send money from one of my other accounts. I use my Google account to put money aside for my son. Essentially, a temporary saving. Anyway, I go to send money using my other account and was denied access to my own accounts. The message indicated that I HAD to use the money in my Google account before I would be allowed to send money from my other account. Wrap your mind around that. You’re being told that you cannot use your other accounts until you use all the money in your Google account. Unbelievably horrible. Not sure what Goggle was thinking, other than greed. I’ll be going back to Cash App. At least they give you an option to do instant deposit using your debit card. Extremely disappointed. more -

But if you want to link your accounts to give Google more data or see a page of deals (ads!), then rest assured those are quite easy to access. Absolute failure of design. When I open my wallet, I want to see my cards, not a bunch of receipts. That should be secondary. And the ads? Seriously? If they have to be there, put them further out of the way. That shouldn't be a primary option. more -
I Hate the new update

So if you have a business and a personal email you can only use this for one email. I am frustrated because when setting up the new app I accidentally used my business email, I’m not sure how but I think an email was automatically selected for me and by the time I realized which email was there it was too late. I need to use it for a personal transaction and now I can’t. I also used to use it to send money to other accounts and I used to be able to help my mother who is not so computer savvy send money to her family members by signing into her account for her and sending what she needed sent. They also store your money in a google pay account similar to CashApp and you have to wait for days before your money is in the google pay account before you can actually send the money to your intended recipient, or you must keep money in your google pay account just sitting there for when you may need to send money to someone, but with all these things getting hacked from time to time it would not be wise to have money just sitting there. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this. Why fix something that isn’t broken?! Please change it back!!! more -
Confusing App and Will Not Let Me Change My Legal Name

I’m 24, I was raised in the age of smart phones, this shouldn't be that difficult for me. But beyond that, when I tried to look at my personal info, it showed my legal name as something completely different from my own, and is locked, making it so I can’t change it. Which is INCREDIBLY STUPID if you ask me bc, even ignoring the fact that it just has me wrong??? People change their names!! Legally!!!! They realize their gender is wrong or they get married or divorced or something! And change their name! But you can’t do that here!! Also, while I realize that most payment apps charge you to remove your money, finding out from other reviews that they didn’t used to have that feature infuriates me even more than it did when i saw the fact they were going to charge me. All in all, its a one star from me, bc I just can’t figure it out despite growing up w technology, the movement of capitalism to where every single thing you use tries to charge you infuriates me, and the fact that they LITERALLY gave me the WRONG NAME and WILL NOT let me change it. more -

First, the chat team stupids, do not even check old details even when we provide ticket number. Have to explain the issue from scratch each time. Second, when you successfully get it escalated, the next level big stupids, send emails in a way they don't even know/ read the issue. I followed all steps in getting another ticket and still have same issues. Beware:App would be good until you face an issue. more -
Money taken out of account on the wrong day mess up bank account
Feb 24, 2021 By Alzy💕The type a bank account I have the money comes out immediately google pay request the money out from my bank on the 22 instead of the 19 which is the day I made and cancel the transaction call google pay they tell me that It my banks fault check with your bank that that’s your banks fault no I have proof in pictures that the money was requested from Google on the 22nd and there’s nothing that they would do to fix it no courtesy to put my money back in my account nothing so I will not be using Google pay once everything is said and done these are the reasons why companies fail I have all the proof all the proof I don’t mine waiting but I’m still upset because of the wrong information and because I do have pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all my bank knows I asked for the money to be sent to google on the 22 instead of the 19 when I actually made the transaction. I still have those pictures my proof showing the money was wrongly taken out on my account after it was canceled on the same day. Zero stars is what I want to give google pay I apologize to the people I feel deserve an apology get better google I would get this app because I use to love google but the app is not the same I will not recommend this app. more -

I had to remove the card I had not selected to be charged from google pay to get them to stop charging it and whatever other card I actually selected. Now I've spent over 2 months getting the runaround from their appalling "help" desk. I've provided the same information at least 5 times and they still haven't made this right. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!! THEY STEAL. more

Some improvements but missing features

But I do miss the passbook from the old app. Instead of having them all in one place I have to search individually for each business loyalty card. Would really appreciate that being added back in. Also the overnight switch with no announcement or warning was very frustrating. more

Asked for an unspecified PIN and declined the transaction. Then went ok in the next store. But I do not see the transaction in the app... No good. At all. more -

I went out with just my phone to the grocery store (where I used the same method before) and it doesn't read. The main tip is to uninstall and install again - as if the makers aren't familiar with technology and expects ppl to troubleshoot in line at the grocery store register with no WiFi. Nice. Wasted time, UNRELIABLE. Use as last resort and hope it'll work. UX/UI navigation got better though. more -
Won’t release MY money $100 stuck
May 1, 2022 By akateg22I attempted to send $100 from my debit card to a friend who I have sent money to multiple times without issue. Well this time the payment failed and the money was taken from my account and not returned. I spent hours trying to get the money returned to my debit card account only to find out they put it on my google pay balance and then limited my account so I could not transfer it to my bank account Or Send to a friend . So now my money is just stuck on this account and I have no physical ID CARD at the moment so they will not fix my account to allow me to access my own money . I have tried contacting support multiple times and they have been completely useless to help . I never even authorized my money to be added to my google pay balance and now it is stuck there . This new thing, with the meaningless icon, is a complete mess. I can see that it can do many different things, but figuring out how to do them is something else altogether. Yes, I think I can still pay with it at a store, but everything else is a mystery. My California Covid-19 card is embedded in there somewhere but I have no idea where. This is a very poorly designed and executed piece of software and I feel it needs a complete rethink and rewrite. I'd like to go back to the old one, but I suspect that would introduce undesirable side effects, so this app sits on my phone, mostly unused. Perhaps you should get the people who wrote the old one to rewrite this one. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! more -
Can’t Register Phone Number
Nov 23, 2020 By Mr MatozI live in Puerto Rico (PR) we are part of USA and I'm using the Google Pay (Google Pay (old logo)) many times, when try to send money the app ask me to install this new GPay (new logo) as a early access because I can't send money. Downloaded and installed, then... I can't register because my phone number is from PR not USA. “We are part of USA” But what the heck!, people that live here in PR using Google Pay are fine without problem using Google Pay (as repeat old logo app) and by the way in the "United States: Supported payment methods" the list of banks YOU HAVE Banco Popular of Puerto Rico and im using another local in PR bank on my list of payments methods. You MUST INCLUDE Puerto Rico's area codes; 787 and 939 for the process of register correctly my account as well thousands of residents in PR and those who live as well in USA using phone numbers from PR. So you're giving a bad step for this early app for people of Puerto Rico and you strongly discriminate us. By the way too, Google recognizes us part of the USA on many services using our area codes... I have to use for emergency PayPal's service instead. Shame on you Google. more -
Pointless

I keep seeing the add where it imports receipts and tracks spending, but find no way to do that in the app. There is no real analytics on your spending, no receipts, just how much you paid and what business it was to, but my banks app can do that fine. It seems like it’s just venmo, but because no one I know uses google pay over venmo, it truly is a useless app. I know google makes great useful products, but this just feels like a useless app. It would be nice if it tracked spending, allowed for budgeting, had analytics on spending, allowed you to search through past transactions, etc. more -
Remarkably Slow

I’m still waiting a week out on $100 my wife sent me for the electrician. And the differentiating feature I liked — the ability to attach requests /payments to Gmail emails — is no longer. I’ll be going back to Venmo which seems to clear transactions in a day or so, or immediately for a small fee. If Google is serious about being a player in this space it would do them well to remember what people love about Google to begin with: speed. more -
Very confusing

I used google pay to receive some money and was very surprised to find out that they ask for the last 4 of your social for “verification”. Then when I tried to transfer the money on my cash app card because it would be easier for me since I already had money on it they supposedly don’t allow prepaid cards which is dumb. If you already know it’s me and it’s my money, I should be able to decide what card I would like it to go on . Also, it took me a while to figure out where to go to transfer the money . more -
Very laggy, less intuitive interface

It still works for me in the sense that it sends money to people, but it’s a confusing mess to find info like prior payments, nor is there the useful function to duplicate a payment. On top of all that, the app itself is incredibly laggy. Transitions between menus are choppy, animations are choppy, and this is on a new iPhone 12. I’d expect that from a freshman programming student, not one of the biggest tech companies in the world. more -
Absolutely unacceptable
May 16, 2021 By YunqMoneyyyAfter being required to download this new app. I asked my mom to send me $300. We set up this app on both our phones. She sends me $300 and it goes directly into my “google balance.” Since they now charge a 1.5% fee to transfer to bank via debit, I decided to send the money back, add her bank account and deposit it using the “up to 5 days” option (Free) Turns out the $300 I sent back were TAKEN FROM MY DEBIT CARD and not the GOOGLE BALANCE. WAIT! It gets better, in order for you to use the google balance, you will need to add your SSN address name and bday! Frustrated, I added my info and sent the extra $300 to my mom so she could give me cash instead. They really screwed it up and made the entire process overly complicated. We will NOT be using google pay and will immediately uninstall the app from my phone and my moms. Thank you google for the last few years. Tonight is our last night using you. ✌️ more

They pretty much say Fuck you even though it's fraudulent spending. NEVER had this problem with Apple. Will be switching back as soon as I can get this phone gone. more -

You have to navigate through three screens to access your tickets, and there is no indication of how to do so. I know it's not technically a wallet app, but come on. Not only that, but upon accessing your tickets, if you do not have a saved payment method, the app opens up your camera unprompted to try to get you to add a credit card! I look forward to unistalling when done with it. more -
Beware! New App is Horrible!

It’s so disappointing to have an app that you love and then go to use it one day only to discover everything you loved about it has changed. Typically, I like updates. This one, however, is horribly unnecessarily complicated. Plus, the new “update” includes being forced to pay a fee for instant deposit when using a debit card. Really Google? I HAVE to pay $15 to transfer $1000 out of my Google ACCT to my bank account if I’m using my debit card? But if I want to use my bank, it will take “up to” 5 days. No worries. I’ll wait. The absolute worst new update I discovered was when I tried to send money from one of my other accounts. I use my Google account to put money aside for my son. Essentially, a temporary saving. Anyway, I go to send money using my other account and was denied access to my own accounts. The message indicated that I HAD to use the money in my Google account before I would be allowed to send money from my other account. Wrap your mind around that. You’re being told that you cannot use your other accounts until you use all the money in your Google account. Unbelievably horrible. Not sure what Goggle was thinking, other than greed. I’ll be going back to Cash App. At least they give you an option to do instant deposit using your debit card. Extremely disappointed. more -

But if you want to link your accounts to give Google more data or see a page of deals (ads!), then rest assured those are quite easy to access. Absolute failure of design. When I open my wallet, I want to see my cards, not a bunch of receipts. That should be secondary. And the ads? Seriously? If they have to be there, put them further out of the way. That shouldn't be a primary option. more -
I Hate the new update

So if you have a business and a personal email you can only use this for one email. I am frustrated because when setting up the new app I accidentally used my business email, I’m not sure how but I think an email was automatically selected for me and by the time I realized which email was there it was too late. I need to use it for a personal transaction and now I can’t. I also used to use it to send money to other accounts and I used to be able to help my mother who is not so computer savvy send money to her family members by signing into her account for her and sending what she needed sent. They also store your money in a google pay account similar to CashApp and you have to wait for days before your money is in the google pay account before you can actually send the money to your intended recipient, or you must keep money in your google pay account just sitting there for when you may need to send money to someone, but with all these things getting hacked from time to time it would not be wise to have money just sitting there. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this. Why fix something that isn’t broken?! Please change it back!!! more -
Confusing App and Will Not Let Me Change My Legal Name

I’m 24, I was raised in the age of smart phones, this shouldn't be that difficult for me. But beyond that, when I tried to look at my personal info, it showed my legal name as something completely different from my own, and is locked, making it so I can’t change it. Which is INCREDIBLY STUPID if you ask me bc, even ignoring the fact that it just has me wrong??? People change their names!! Legally!!!! They realize their gender is wrong or they get married or divorced or something! And change their name! But you can’t do that here!! Also, while I realize that most payment apps charge you to remove your money, finding out from other reviews that they didn’t used to have that feature infuriates me even more than it did when i saw the fact they were going to charge me. All in all, its a one star from me, bc I just can’t figure it out despite growing up w technology, the movement of capitalism to where every single thing you use tries to charge you infuriates me, and the fact that they LITERALLY gave me the WRONG NAME and WILL NOT let me change it. more -

First, the chat team stupids, do not even check old details even when we provide ticket number. Have to explain the issue from scratch each time. Second, when you successfully get it escalated, the next level big stupids, send emails in a way they don't even know/ read the issue. I followed all steps in getting another ticket and still have same issues. Beware:App would be good until you face an issue. more -
Money taken out of account on the wrong day mess up bank account
Feb 24, 2021 By Alzy💕The type a bank account I have the money comes out immediately google pay request the money out from my bank on the 22 instead of the 19 which is the day I made and cancel the transaction call google pay they tell me that It my banks fault check with your bank that that’s your banks fault no I have proof in pictures that the money was requested from Google on the 22nd and there’s nothing that they would do to fix it no courtesy to put my money back in my account nothing so I will not be using Google pay once everything is said and done these are the reasons why companies fail I have all the proof all the proof I don’t mine waiting but I’m still upset because of the wrong information and because I do have pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all my bank knows I asked for the money to be sent to google on the 22 instead of the 19 when I actually made the transaction. I still have those pictures my proof showing the money was wrongly taken out on my account after it was canceled on the same day. Zero stars is what I want to give google pay I apologize to the people I feel deserve an apology get better google I would get this app because I use to love google but the app is not the same I will not recommend this app. more -

I had to remove the card I had not selected to be charged from google pay to get them to stop charging it and whatever other card I actually selected. Now I've spent over 2 months getting the runaround from their appalling "help" desk. I've provided the same information at least 5 times and they still haven't made this right. DO NOT USE THIS APP!!! THEY STEAL. more
