A 3-day trip to Rome might not be in your budget right now, but you can still check out all of the sights. With history tours on Google Earth, you can enjoy all of the tourist attractions and historic sights right from your living room.

Two-dimensional maps are a thing of the past. Any true fan of topography will tell you that. A 3D view is so much better. This app covers it quite well and, as a bonus, offers site analysis, the ability to search for 1000s of exact locations, and will always consider slope angles and water sources.

Although I’ve noticed a few bad ratings for this app, I was actually not having to much trouble using Google Earth on my IPad. Ya, a little crash here and there but nothing to cry about. It was still helpful. Then, out of nowhere, just a couple weeks ago, ALL STREETS and ALL RESTAURANTS/SHOPS were deleted from the mapping.... everywhere....GONE! 4 years of using this app with any semblance of detail....eliminated. And YES, I could find a restaurant in the middle of Nowhere, USA and click on it and actually see shared photos. That has been completely wiped out! Street names are gone! What is the point of this apps existence now? To stare at an abandoned 3D city model... a dead, non-descript planet? Awesome. Bye Google App. It was nice while it lasted! UPDATE (April 13th): Okay! Time for an update! While updating software on my IPad, somehow, almost magically, my Google Earth app had switched off the “view everything” option on the app. Very weird! It completely threw me off and caught me offguard. But, I caught the weirdness and righted everything... so I’m increasing the rating to 4 stars. A great app that probably should be more updated, but I still enjoy it.😁

Wonderfully fun. I have used this since before Google bought it. The only thing that is problematic is that when in street view (the person), there used to be a blue line to "follow." It's not really working. Plus, it's been since around 2014 since my tourist-attraction city has neen photographed! Its LONG OVERDUE!

Love this more then I can say! I look up routes to go on road trips and spots to stop at, I gather information on the neighborhood of a houseon the market, Great for school work, learn where your family grew up at, the places important to you, bucket list locations, and most importantly, learn about climate change from the amazing videos and pics. This app is a MUST.

Really enjoy this app. Sometimes I just click on random places just to explore what certain places look like that I will probably never get to go. However I’ve noticed that sometimes an address doesn’t load and or it’s very slow and sits and buffers. I wish google would also update the maps. Before vacation, going to a new restaurant, going over to someones house for the first time, I like to look the place up to get an idea of routes. A lot are out of date. I guess it’s not this app’s purpose but I like using this to get a good idea of where I’m going. My address/ neighborhood for example is from 2007. I know it’s from then because my house and the neighborhood was built in 2007. It’s changed a lot since then and the picture is not clear. The aerial view is also different to the street view on some maps. Not the end of the world just wish it was updated. Since they have to drive to create the maps it probably takes awhile. I guess.

The one Google app that I am still impressed by, and yes, I don't tend to need it so often as I get older....but when I do, the class and the quality is still unmatched. 4 stars because Google take the piss so much elsewhere, and do nothing credible to regain our trust....So, a great app from a big let down, no less......Ho-hum...

Testing... testing… hello can you hear Me? 😂 😆 LOL!! This app is the best app I have ever downloaded ever!!! I really want to go to Singapore, but my parents say that we can’t go for a few more years. Thanks to you, I can go on free vacations to where ever I want in the world. and the best part, it doesn’t take like 19 hours to get to far away countries. another thing I love a tonne is the Street view. I only visit my grandparents in Utah once a year. thanks to you and the Street view, I can visit all my favourite places in Utah whenever I want. I have also been to multiple cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York City, Singapore, and much more. I also stayed in the best hotel ever in Singapore. in closing, this is the best app ever and I would give you a number of googolplex stars if I could. PS. I was going to go to Disneyland last April, but then everything had to shut down and we couldn’t go. But thanks to you, I can indeed go to Disneyland… virtually. PPS. You literally changed my life. And I will always remember the best app ever

Ive been a fan of google earth for a long time now. I recall that the first images used to allow the bottom of the ocean exploration with a smooth transition from land to sea. With the new updates and imagery, a lot of detail has been removed. I used to remember looking at land masses and seeing the trees and roads but the current images are now blurry blobs. Also the area surrounding and encompassing Antarctica is severely pathetic. We the people want the details and the Truth. Why is it that there are photoshop cuts and cloud clips, that are covering up detail of the landscape? Please fire the photoshop team and tell it like it is. What good is exploring the planet in virtual format if all you get is blurred images to hide those detail? I don’t use Google Earth much any more because it is a joke now. It makes me sad that all the big corporations want to keep people in the dark, never sharing what they find. Who are you to make that judgment on all of the population. What gives you the rite to hide valuable discoveries from us? And why? It just makes me sad that you were not raised with the truth and so you find ways to cover it up :(

Wish features from desktop program were offered in app. Latest update does not work on Android (as of May 18 update, and prior weeks/months, since Feb)... please fix. I have sent multiple crash reports. Please repair bugs. Samsung galaxy s9 android. It was a phenomenal app when it worked. But also wish one could add/save a waypoint in the app

Hey, so basically I downloaded this game for fun, but I did find some scary stuff, I wanted to explore too! But here’s a few ideas, maybe you could walk and not find scary stuff, and please do not allow people to put there location because they can get kidnapped. Please share this by the way, and this is a good app because I finally found circus baby’s pizzeria! Incredible right? Yes I like fanf! And it cool how I found my school! Thank you for making this app! But I found some scary stuff and I don’t want little kids to see it. People can get scared and have nightmares like children. Thank you for reading! I will give it a 4 star! But here are more idea: you should able to make a bit of some ads to make actual money. Great app but please don’t put in locations where they are scary stuff. Because.. little kids can play this app and they can get nightmares. Please do not add scary stuff, like zombies and dead people in the ocean. I played this on my school iPad at 5. And I have nightmares for 3 years. Thanks for reading. Have a GREAT GREAT day.

Why is it that I cannot load Google Earth from Instagram anymore? Every time I want to check a location Google Earth is trying to load without getting anywhere. Even when I leave Instagram and trying to open Google Earth it just keeps on loading without opening the app. Very frustrating. The only way to solve it is to hard reboot my phone. SMH

Constantly crashes. No saving points when you measure. No going back if you hit the wrong button. No saving or continuing. I get close/part way thru make a little mistake or CRASH and everything is gone. No getting it back. DO NOT PASS GO! Start all over for a crash. Then start all over for hitting the checkmark that's right next to the "remark a spot button." Don't you dare hit the (?) midway or start over. Was gonna give 2☆, but now that I've typed this out. I've wasted hours and am irked
  • Out of Focus Garbage Mar 31, 2021

I can’t express my disappointment enough!! I’m rating this one star because there is no zero to pick. Today’s Google Earth is a former shadow of itself in terms of image quality and resolution. I was a huge fan of the application a decade ago, but had not used it in quite a while. I just got a new iPad and installed it to take a nostalgic walk down memory lane, and I almost threw up. Most apps make an effort to improve over time, but this one has managed to regress. It has become a piece of out-of-focus garbage. I was so looking forward to visually traveling to another part of the world while we are under COVID restrictions and flying over a city and its streets I once knew so well, but all I found was a distorted mess compared to my former virtual visits. The graphics of streets and buildings are a bad cubic Minecraft experience. Can you use the app for middle school geography? Yes. But for really studying topography and detail? Don’t waste your time. Google Earth has lost its mojo in a major way.

Sucs. This was a great app before update. Now I can't open a kmz file. Also cannot add points or share points and data with Google maps. They force you to 0lace everything on Google drive so they can track your every move and send ads you don't want. Google Earth app/web/desktop/pro all behave differently. None of them exchange data easily or at all with Google maps. If they combined earth an maps into a single app it would be a killer. Instead it is an endless loop of it won't work.

“Okay. Guys we got the data in for the whole world! Now we can sit on our butts for years and years and never have to update it”...said the boss at google earth a decade ago. I know it is free, but I have State Farm road atlases with the picture of a 1953 Buick on the cover that has more up to date maps than Google earth! Those were also free! Their competition is buying new images like crazy and have current maps/terrain. Perhaps GE just isn’t in the game any more and are letting this program wither and die when more folks like me discover it is full of ancient artifacts instead of a current set of images. I’m in the hinterlands of the fly over in the USA...Denver Colorado. Doubt if the GE staff can spell it let alone find it on their own program. The images I deal with are from three to seven YEARS old. Streets, many buildings, power lines, pipelines, public facilities have been built and in place for years in the suburban areas of this city. There are much more current images in Tibet and South America, Do not use this app if you are expecting to get current images. It is poor for that. One feature that might be helpful is to have a streamlined method to report obsolete images, or offer the ability to purchase new images of specific areas if Google cannot afford to update your area of interest.

    1. Wanted to use this in my browser instead of app 2. the web page says I can see everything google earth has to show ON THE WEB PAGE. NOPE! 3. HAD TO DL APP! FINAL THOUGHTS~GOOGLE IS DEFINITELY LIVING UP TO THEIR REPUTATION AS A REALLY SLEAZY COMPANY! WHY DO WE BOTHER WITH YOU? GOOGLE IS SO BLOATED WITH ADWARE THAT COLLECTS OUR DATA WHICH THEY USE AND SELL! AS BAD OR WORSE THAN FACEBOOK FFS! THIS WAS A WONDER WHEN IT STARTED. NOW IT'S JUST A DATA STEAL. DELETED!

I love google earth but the app is just terrible. It worked for a day or so but now it just shows a black screen with no map and no troubleshooting options or anything. I tried closing and reopening, then I tried clearing the cache (which froze the app twice), then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing worked. Its just a black screen with no options to report or fix it.

I think what this app is doing is really cool with the whole see different places thing which is why I’m giving this 2 stars instead of 1. It looks horrendous, unless you are using street view, everything looks terrible, it looks like someone threw up after eating Taco Bell. And most of the time things you want to view aren’t on the street so you can’t even use street view. In my neighborhood I wanted to look at my school because it was remodeled in 2012 and I started going there in 2013 so I never got to see what it looked like before. My neighborhood pictures were from 2011 so the school wasn’t remodeled yet. So I went and looked and because it’s a school, there was no street view for what I wanted to see. All you could see was the front of the school. So I tried zooming in and low and behold. It looked so terrible. Don’t get this app
  • Good on a desktop, bad on mobile Jun 5, 2020

    By Jared Schneedle
I love using google earth to explore the world from the comfort of home so I can get an idea of which countries I want to add to my bucket list of places to visit, and the desktop version is perfect for that. But the mobile version is not very touch accurate. If two places are close together, they tend to overlap on the screen. And you tap on one to see photos of it or read about it, it inevitably thinks you’re tapping on the other no matter how much you try to angle your finger toward the place you’re actually trying to see. Which is extremely frustrating. You need the precision of a mouse curser for any sort of enjoyable experience on this application because it optimized well for a mobile, touchscreen experience.

Certain map/gps apps require a strong data signal to use them for travel. Being built into a smart phone makes sense in those cases. However, when downloading a third party app, I would hope for a more robust app that would allow usage, even in poor signal areas. You know, situations that require a map when cell signal is low or non existent? My family and I go for car rides every weekend and go out back roads into rural and desolate areas to see what we can see. Too often we have no or very limited cell signal and the native app can’t do anything for us. I reinstalled GE thinking it would pick up the slack but I just found out that without signal, it’s useless. It doesn’t want to load in unless there’s strong signal or WiFi connected. We would get lost with this! What’s the point? I remember when map/gps apps were more robust and had enough built in data that you didn’t need cell data to use them. With phone storage capacity on the rise, companies shouldn’t be afraid anymore to make a larger app that can be used standalone.

Don’t get me wrong this is a pretty way to see the world and calm you down but I saw some things that will give you nightmares 1. Mermaids- you know about mermaids pretty nice like Ariel right no not the mermaids in real life I saw in the ocean A MERMAID and no it was not pretty it had hands that were the same as it’s tail black eyes and a black mouth and some seashells that didn’t look pretty. 2. Bird mask people- as I was looking through maps I saw an odd city most of its population was off and it looked like the future of time plastic wraps everywhere and people with bird masks not masks with a bird on it like bird masks like a costume. 3. Elf’s- as you know elf’s are Santa’s helpers cute little tiny elf’s but this was not cute it was caught in the woods as an elf trying to find some food it was wrinkly and had tiny eyes it had normal human outfit on it. -note that this is rare to see but remember all these things are real so it’s better to not take children where they have real mermaids.

  • GREAT APP BUT NEEDS A FEW THINGS Jan 25, 2020

This is a great app and I'd recommend getting it. The problem is it's not all 3d and I would like you to fix that 'cause my grandfather lives in D.C. but I can't see his house and I want to really bad ( because he's rich and owns a mansion ). Other than that it's GREAT!! But you should add something where you can change the time of day ( night, midnight, early morning (2 am), morning, day, noon, afternoon, evening ) where it changes everything. For example, at day, an office building would look regular, but if you changed it to NIGHT, it would look dimmer and all the lights would be on. If you fixed/added the stuff in my review, it would be a great app. Thank you Google for making another awesome addition to my screen!

It's not really working.

Update: Remeber to clear your cache very frequently to maintain proper performance... good app, but has its bugs.

So I had and deleted one and a half year ago because I didn’t rlly think I would need it. So earlier yesterday ( today’s yesterday) I was getting bored and so I got this app again and I had to get the older version. So idk if that is related to this but.. every time I try to “ walk “ in the streets it lets me go little ways but then it stops working and takes me to my home screen :( Is it related to old version of google earth or maybe because I don’t have latest version of iPad? Could it be because my iPad is like five years old or is it just something that needs a bug fix update? Or can you not fix? I totally understand if you cannot fix though because I know you all work hard reading reviews and trying to fix any problems anyone has. Thx for all your hard work guys! Me appreciates it. Sincerely, INFO UNAVAILABLE

Unfortunately people lately have been saying there’s many glitches and strange things found on this app (and I agree) but since then there hasn’t been a SINGLE glitch or bug or strange thing that I have ever seen on this app known as google earth or google maps (whatever) but I just don’t understand what the point of these bugs and glitches are. Many people have found these kinds of bugs but I just don’t get where they came from and why this app has a lot of bugs and glitches. I don’t Know maybe something really is wrong with this app. Well good thing those glitches are fixed because I would be terrified if I saw a glitch. Because usually bugs and glitches on this App are usually very disturbing and I agree with them. Otherwise this app is great and I hope u like it too :)

Thank you for your google earth map, But when you first introduced google earth back in the day it worked excellent on a cell phone, after you made changes it been for years always malfunctioning, blurry, and distorted, pieces of earth not showing and so forth, sometimes it good working. I will install again, i always uninstall then wait awhile to see if you've improved it with a good update. Installing again. Well here goes. To be continued later with a updated review. Please High Q. Thank You.
  • Detail Update Please Nov 30, 2019

    By CrystalCafe!

It's OK at best. Same maps been there for a decade now. Lot of stuff has changed and seems non reflective of the actual changes people have done to the landscape. Hit me up when this is updated and hopefully at a better resolution. It is 2021 after all.

I’ve always LOVED this app. Being able to explore places I’ve always wanted to go without having to get off the couch. But, I’ve noticed a problem and to be completely honest I can’t seem to find a reason why the people in charge can’t or won’t fix these problems. First problem is the blurred areas. Certain places I’ve looked at in the past were completely clear and I was always able to zoom in almost to the point of being able to read street signs. Now y’all have started blurring our a LOT of different details and to be honest it makes the app a lot less appealing and more useless than useful. Problem #2. The seasonal overlapping... now this happens on my GPS when I use it with satellite overlay. BUT, once I’ve zoomed in to a certain point it all clears up and the picture is as it should be according to the season. I’m a HUGE history fanatic so I’m constantly looking for ruins and remnants of the past in places most people can easily get to. But when I start noticing that the picture refuses to clear up and focus and the fine and important details are now blurred. It makes me ask why. Which also causes me to look for answers. Which has also given me no other choice but to contact certain people to hack into certain satellites so I can get the answers i need. 🙃
  • Missing from Serbian AppStore Apr 29, 2021

    By DaliborSuh
This app is missing from Serbian iOS AppStore for more than a year since Serbian iOS AppStore has been enabled and all the developers have been informed in March 2020. All developers have enabled their apps but most of google apps are not available on Serbian iOS AppStore so we cannot download or update our apps or write feedback, except here, and only when we manually change our regions to us and lose all our paid subscriptions in order to be able to send feedback through the AppStore . So this is the only way we, Serbian users, can share our feedback. Official support does not want to help us and we pay for services we cannot use. So, please, inform your devs to enable this apps ob Serbian iOS AppStore ASAP. We will soon reach out to media to make wider attention to this issue and google discrimination of Serbian users if not fixed soon. Thanks.

Using an iPad Pro google earth is stuck on the welcome screen and does not go any further. Clicked on the app support tab in the App Store and it takes you to a help forum for windows google earth Pro help. Useless for apple products. Really a shame googles so disorganized or just doesn’t care about low revenue users UPDATE: several hours later the app loaded as expected. Program ran fine, would be nice to have current or near current maps and photos, most data I saw was more than 3 yrs old. I’m thinking the startup/loading issue was not an app problem but a temporary google server issue they resolved. Still no troubleshooting info for Apple mobile users (at least none I could find) even with the issues, Google Earth is the best (free) global mapping app money can buy for the iPhone/iPad.

Good app but it seems the location and pictures you guys still have on the map it old they were taken way back in 2009 so you can't get the accurate and specific location you want. So if you guys could updated you map to currently it would be nice to use okay. Thank you.

Wow 🤩 *edit* please remove the the nasty borders in landscape view. the semi transparent overlay too. they really spoil enjoyment of the app. I don't understand why they are still there after so many updates 🤔 *Edit* this app gets updated often yet I see no changes. Landscape view is still useless and the maps are so old. I won't hold my breath waiting for new features. Google is just lazy until Apple try to compete with a similar app 😉
  • Timetravel feature needed + ocean map Jul 7, 2018

    By JamesAlexander84
I really like google Earth, but I would love to see a time travel feature where you can see what has changed over the decades: buildings, roads, environment, etc. Also, I think the next step should definitely be mapping the oceans; you will have work for centuries, honestly. Lastly, I want to see higher resolution imaging. One thing that I currently like is the 3D feature especially when you first tap it and the camera does a cyclical camera pan; that's awesome! Although, I would like this to be available from multiple zoom levels. Also, how about quick-zoom level buttons: 1x, 2, 5x, 10x or altitude ranges. Google + Wikipedia would make a powerful resource for information ;)
  • Amazing app but there’s one problem☹️ Apr 7, 2019

    By Grey K Mullins
This app is amazing I really recommend getting it! But the thing is you only have a Birdseye view of the places you want to see you can’t see it like it’s right in front of you and when you Google your house it looks different from what it looked like a long time ago it’s gonna look like it looks like a long time ago is it is it gonna have a new upgrades that you put on your house. Say you Google the Eiffel tower you’re only seening what it looks like a long time ago not how it actually looks like today. That one comes really frustrates me😡! So that’s the one problem with this amazing app.😍😭
  • Such a cool app, but could be better Sep 5, 2018

    By jimago
I love the power of this app. There are only a couple things I wish they would improve on. I would love to see the ability to pin locations in this that would then also be on my Google maps, or vice versa, see pins I've made in Google maps show up here. My other actually complaint is that if you leave the app for maybe only a minute and come back to it, it resets. Losing the location you left on. I use this app a lot researching places I plan to hike, and I'm constantly bouncing from app to app. It's incredibly annoying to have to figure out where I was every time it decides to reset.
  • Slow, very, very slow updates Apr 23, 2018

    By Krazo1
  • Looks Awful Aug 20, 2020

    By Packyboi

  • I preferred the previous version. Apr 16, 2018

    By akLT2
Personally I preferred the previous version for a couple reasons. The biggest reason being that the app would save the information in a cache from areas you previously viewed. This was extremely helpful for hiking and backpacking in areas where there is no signal. By viewing areas before I left I could fully use the app out of service. Now, without a signal, the app is useless in the backcountry. Another reason I prefer the old version is because of the panoramio photos. This was nice for areas that aren’t popular. Overall the app is satisfactory but I preferred the old app with the features I mentioned.

    By Jewel 73
Would it kill them to actually listen to people’s ideas? Good lord, there’s no cross-platform consistency with these google apps. Too many bugs with this and other google apps make them very unstable. For example, historical aerial view is only available on google earth for computers. Historical street view is only available on computer browsers. It used to be a thing on mobile browsers but it was removed. And you can’t make kmz files on mobile google earth, something which would be really helpful. I really hope they can fix these completely useless inconsistencies and make their apps useful again.

    By Nickfloyo14
I like Google Earth. I believe it’s a pretty cool feature to explore the world and see different places and such. However the map is old. I mean very old. There are buildings and structures that are being constructed on the google earth map that has been built for years now. There are buildings that have been constructed and completed but yet the map shows that it is still in the beginning stages. In my area, I can tell the map is from 2018 and up cause of how old there area is. The app needs a huge update on the map

You cannot really see anything anymore. Not fun. Hoped it was either my version or my tablet, but noooo. It’s been crummy for soooo long. We should write off this term: Google Earth. Pull back real hard on the sides of your eyes from a block away, that’s as good as it gets. Yes. It used to be a terrifically enjoyable app. Like you could really travel virtually. Someone jerked all the snap out of this now fuzzy mess pretending to be representative of the great things He hath done. Praise the Lord...it just makes me stay away and go out there and see for myself.

Even when I leave Instagram and trying to open Google Earth it just keeps on loading without opening the app. Very frustrating. The only way to solve it is to hard reboot my phone. SMH

  • Out of Focus Garbage Mar 31, 2021

    By Addybyte

I really liked this app a lot. It has great info and I relied on it to show parts of the world that I wanted to learn about. Today on Facebook someone mentioned a part of the world that I’m not familiar with, the Isle of Skye. I went to Google Earth and I hadn’t typed in more than the first two letters when it suggested Isle of Skye. Apparently it’s watching other apps I’m using and since it’s a Google app that info, no doubt, is now a part of the info it sends back to Google. I should have kept it off of my phone, I figured it was harmless because I only used it when I needed it, but apparently that’s not the case. What other private info is now in the Google data base, I have no idea. If you value your privacy, stay away. Caveat emptor, as they say. It’s gone now.
  • Stopped using Google Earth Dec 2, 2019

Update: Non existent support. They’re so unprofessional that they don’t respond to Apple app reviews. In my opinion, companies like that should have their products removed from the Apple App Store. —— I give...they'll never figure out how to design an "intelligent" user interface. I stopped using Google Earth a couple of months ago. The tab to unhide the place images at the bottom of the main display is too big and it should disappear when not touch for a few seconds. Then there are the four lines of copyright information that overlays the map at the bottom of the main display. You still cannot hide the GUI so you can see the the whole map without having to keep moving the map image around. By Google!

I used to love google earth about two years ago, but after a new update, the whole thing went down hill. First, the satellite view of some places, for example San Francisco, was out dated by at least three years. Second, the new up date doesn’t include Wikipedia shortcuts, or simple explanatory anymore. And, you can’t turn the stuff off the settings that you don’t want, like let’s say you only want road feature on, well tough luck be cause it doesn’t allow that. Lastly, if you scroll around eventually at least on my tablet, the app closes and shuts off for no reason. This app has so much potential and it’s a shame that it is like this. I hope google can fix there problems soon.

In 2010 this website/app used to have accurate pictures instead of 3D looking maps. When I was a little girl I remember it used to be actual pictures of the earth so you can see places as if you were there in person. This is very inaccurate, Google Earth went backwards in time instead of forwards. I saw google maps the other day and maybe they switched the way it works between the both of them? Google maps is the older version of google earth and now google earth is some... 3D looking weird unrealistic.... I could keep going on but this is very very disappointing! Step it up again. What happened to the real/ realistic google earth??
