My family member lives in Fredericksburg Virginia and I live in Washington DC the reception was so good I almost feel like they we’re sitting in the same room with me. I have a iPhone and as everyone knows that comes with FaceTime but My Family don’t and thisService is just as good if not sometimes betterThen a iPhone so if you don’t have Duo you definitely need to download it on your phone so you can reach out to your family and Friends.I would definitely recommend Google Duo to everyone .So don’t wait download so you can start having fun like I am !!!!!!.Tomorrow we’re having a Duo PartyWhat we’re going to be listening to music have a nice snacks and drinking a few cocktails don’t be left out You ,Your Family and Your friends can have the same kind of Party !!!!.

Duo is a graet app to use for video communication with android and iphone users. The people with whom you want to see would download the duo app and voila'. Its that easy. The only thing I don't like is the app searches your contacts and text messages and makes suggested video chats for you. I would like to choose for myself. Now I have to research how to get rid of these suggested video chats. Other than that my experience with Duo has been pleasurable. It's a great app. You should try it!

Excellent way to communicate with good audio and video quality. No perceptible loss in quality due to feedback or lag issues in either audio or video. Google is always at the top of the list when it comes to communicating with others even across two continents plus the Atlantic Ocean. In this case: from Los Angeles to Istanbul, Turkey. What used to cost my uncle $1500 per month in telephone company overseas call charges (without any video) back in 1981 now costs the average consumer $1.

In this day and age, communication is no longer a simple phone call. So with the next generation growing up with all of this new technology at their fingertips, they learn to manage with bad connections, Skippy voice and dropped video feed. I am old school! If I’m on a video chat and the service drops or the phone is choppy or the app blinks in and out then I’m mad...I’m highly upset! I would just rather dial the digits and hear a voice. I have recently switched to the Apple line of cell phones. And have had a little experience with FaceTime. I don’t feel like it’s any better than Facebook messenger which is a joke when it comes to video calling. The Google duo on the other hand has exceptional exceptional video feed message feed and it really does put a smile on my face and a twinkle in my eye to pick up my phone and have a video message that I can see just as clear as if they were standing in front of me from one of my children it just makes my day.

A good & strong android based video calling app!!! Very simple to use, & none of the complexities. I still have more exploration to do to get better acquainted with some of the apps options, like the initial video of yourself that's open to the person you're calling. It kinda ruins the surprise of the call. But all in all, a good communication app!

Bugs. Call notification turns itself off. Can't turn it back on. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling app but that didn't help either. Had the same problem a few updates ago. We can land a man on the moon but can't make mobile apps work right (or figure out how to execute mass vaccinations for that matter.) But Google owns the world (just like Amazon) so why make something that works correctly before pushing it out anyway. Less money that way.

So don’t get me wrong I do like the app bc my friend has a Samsung so she cant use facetime so that awesome but when me and her are on call the video freezes all the time second it drains all of my battery bc I will have full percent and then in less than 5 min I already have 10% and I know it is not my phone bc before I used this app my battery wouldn’t drain for hours and I even have low power mode on third the audio is horrible like horrible and this isn’t the last thing but this last complaint I am going to put in the review my phone in the like 4 years that I have had my phone it has never overheated but when I am on the phone with my friend on only this app and charging my phone it always overheats for both of us and I know it is only this app bc when I am on any other app even on the phone on a different app it never overheats

Good app I guess, but there is this one problem that bugs me right off. Whenever I go into a group call with some people, there is always an echoing sound for me, and it seems to be happening with some people in the call, but not everyone. It's like I can hear what I just said in the group call being repeated again once, and it's doing my head in, because this app is the only group calling app that some of my friends have. Please look into this, and I'll review this better. Many thanks.

I wish I was able to give no stars. This app will not even let me get in it says verify my phone number. So I made sure it had my country correct and my number correct and it did so I pressed verify. It didn't work I tried everything in support like ten times but I couldnt sighn in and verify my phone number. and that really is annoying me. So far this app sucks. (and before duo tells me it's my internet or my SMS it's not I text all the time and search using Google alot and they work just fine)

  1. The extremely simple and efficient interface lets you video chat one-on-one with friends, family, and more all over the world
  2. Can't video call right now? Make audio calls to connect no matter where you are, completely for free
  3. The video remains high-quality and clear whether you're using Wi-Fi or data, for easy communication over distance

  • Phenomenal call quality Oct 28, 2017

    By M. Piela
Downloaded this app because I have ZERO cell service in my house and apple didn’t enable WiFi calling. So instead of stepping outside in the rain or freezing weather whenever someone wanted to call me at home, Duo has solved that. Call audio is the clearest I have ever heard on a phone call, like the person is on the other side of your phone talking at your ear. I have strong WiFi so I can’t say how it would perform if WiFi is spotty. I noticed that when you are not on WiFi and take a duo call over your cell service there is a bit of a delay between accepting the call and when the caller can hear you which can lead to some confusion, but still great call quality. Very simple interface, no bells and whistles, just works, and works great.

This app is absolutely amazing. In the year 2021 and the current state of the world, video calling should be something that works flawlessly. Many other apps that I have tried fail to provide a quality experience when video calling. Quality is usually choppy, it is hard to hear the other person sometimes, and it is just a general mess. I have found duo to be the best app these days to make a video call to anyone. I wish they would add a chat feature because snapchat is starting to suck.

  • Very good video calling app Jun 25, 2019

    By Strip Weathers (Dinoco King)
My mom is Deaf and so we have used Duo to communicate when we are not at home together, especially since I have an iPhone and she has a Samsung. In my family, we have used many video chatting apps but none have worked as great or smoothly as Duo, especially since there is the option to leave a video message! One feature that I wish the app had is to mute the other person— sometimes when I am on a call with my mom, I am in a public place, such as at a grocery store or salon, and I have to ask my mom to mute herself on the phone since lowering the volume and turning the ringer off from my phone does not actually turn the volume off. Other than that, Duo is really good for video calls!

As a former Apple user, I switched so I could utilities Android's, in my opinion, more business oriented system. With that change in system, so did my ability to video chat. I loved FaceTime from Apple, however, this app makes up for Android's lack of video call. It has great quality video and audio calls. A major plus to this app, it works on both Android and Apple devices.

  • This app... May 5, 2019

... has been a total game changer for me and my family. I have a lot of family that live in various states that I connect with on a regular basis. I love talking to my family but getting to see them is so much better. If I work late I can just call my husband and have a quick peek at my sleeping angel. The ONLY problem i have with it is, is that at times the connection can get a bit blurry depending on what kind of phone they have, phone service, WiFi connection, etc.... But overall love the app. Highly recommend to all who have loved ones who live far and way and would like to keep in touch and the best part is, you don’t need to buy on of the expensive iPhones just to what they call “FaceTime” lol.

  • Sound issues Jan 24, 2021

Ok so I use this app a lot, and I mean a lot to talk to people, mainly because I have friends who don’t have the same kind of phone as me and stuff like that. It works great most of the time but there have been times where I’m trying to call someone and it won’t go through for them and they try and it won’t go through for me, or if I/the other person try to call each other if I try and answer it won’t let me, and same with them. Also sometimes I can’t even call the person! It just sends me straight to making a little video message. And, now it is sound I have turned my phone on and off and same as the other person we have tried EVERYTHING...well mot deleting the app, but I seriously don’t want to feel like I have to resort to deleting and reinstalling it. Not that it’s much work it’s just I feel these issues need to be fixed, I hope someone sees this because it is beyond annoying.

While most of the time it works fine. I have some complaints. If you have multiple devices connected to your phone like Headphones and a watch for example but they are currently disconnected, when you answer a call the sound will be muffled because"Bluetooth" is enabled so you have to manually go to the duo settings within the call and turn it off. There are also times where I am using headphones connected via Bluetooth and while in the call and they just disconnect. It's slightly annoying.

  • Okay.. but a couple little thing! Jun 21, 2020

    By Rtdf
So I just got duo a couple days ago because my friend can’t FaceTime on her phone so we tried this. When I first got in the app it was very very confusing! I had no idea what I was doing maybe it’s cause I just got it! But I thought it would be a little easier! Second when I finally got on a call with my friends the audio is awful! I could hear a thing and it kept on freezing and breaking up and sometimes we would have to leave the call then I can’t join back unless they ring me! And I would like where I can see my friends the whole time! Because on my phone (iPhone 11) you can’t go out of the app and see them! But on the other hand on my friends phone (some none apple)she can go out of the app and see us! Please take this to mind! I think if all these changed this could be the one of the best apps!

    I have a new phone with Android 10, Phone came with DUO already installed. I activated it, and also updated, and like so many other people, I have no filters or effects on my phone app. There seems to be no explanation on the web about this or how to resolve it. very frustrating. Otherwise , the app seems to work fine for calling and video chat. I have seen so many complaints about no filters etc. from other people with the same problem. This should be fixed. Come on Google !{ As you can see from Google's response below, they didn't even bother to read that I have Android 10, and just gave a cookie cutter reply that I may have an older version of Android. }

The app is fine and the quality is okay, but it is a huge power draw and always makes my phone overheat very quickly. My phone is essentially unusable during a call and even for minutes after a call. And I have a Pixel so that really shouldn't happen. It also has obnoxiously loud "calling and end call sounds". The speakers sound like they're bursting.
