If I could give this a negative rating, I would. I can't write with this app at all now because the pop up (telling me that it can't detect grammar issues because the text is too long) stays up over the words I'm typing. The document is only 4000 words, and there are no grammatical errors to detect. This last update was terrible, and the issue has only gotten worse. The pop up used to only appear at the beginning of opening the doc. Now it's with every single letter. Do better.

I love this app. It has changed how I write, giving me the chance to scrubble down ideas throughout the day and work on them at my computer later. However, lately whenever a doc gets over a certain size, I cannot edit it without a ribbon constantly popping up and telling me the text is too long to check for grammatical errors. It's very annoying and I hope it is fixed soon.

It keeps saying my "document is too long can no longer detect grammar errors" ?? I love writing on this app, it's a way for me to have creative freedom and that's taken away when there's this constant pop up. If you're going to keep this function at least give us the option to turn it off. I've been wanting to continue a story of mine but I can't with this annoying pop-up. I don't want to have to switch apps.

I use this a lot for my creative writing. I just wish I could figure out how to change paragraph spacing from the app, rather than the computer. Edit: Dropped my star rating because I constantly am not allowed to edit my own document after sharing it with a friend. I can only fix it by turning off sharing, but that defeats the point of me using Google Docs. It's been more than a year of this issue and it's not fixed.

Overall, the app is alright, but it's much better than the PC version. It has a lot less features, you can't access things as easily, and it's a little buggy. I'm added to a doc, and I can't edit it despite having editor access to it. It's very annoying. Also, an example of a missing feature is that you can't edit table border colors! Why can't we just have all the features from PC on mobile?

Very nice and easy to use. However, customization is lessened than on pc and feels off putting with the strange inconsistencies. Some devices crash randomly, some don't see spelling mistakes unless reloaded, but most notabably; Samsung Galaxy A12's cannot run docs for some reason. Mine is brand new and it makes the keyboard screech to a halt. This is the only app that does it. It straight up softlocks and then crashes the keyboard. I love using this app so a fix would be very appreciated. Thanks

For the “world’s most powerful search engine, you sure can’t build a user friendly document creator”
I love that google docs lets you share your document and work simultaneously with others. It’s very convenient in that regard. However if there were another option for that purpose, I’d probably switch over. There are so many things in google docs that make it way harder and more frustrating than it needs to be. You can’t put text over an image, it’s a million steps just to find where text boxes are located, you can’t paste something in from Microsoft Word without the formatting being destroyed, it’s hard to set a tab-stop that will stay there when you move on to a new line, there are cntrl shortcuts that work for other document creators but not for google docs, and it’s almost impossible to customize a document to look different or engaging if you’re trying to make a handout. I could go on. I’m in my early 20s so it’s not like I’m just tech-incompetent—google docs is just needlessly frustrating to use. It’s all made more frustrating by the fact that google is such a huge company; they have the resources to make docs better but for some reason they don’t.

Not Quite Adequate — Especially for Real-Time Collaboration
Do you want to type stuff into a Google Doc that other people can read later? This is fine. Do you want to edit documents other people have created? This will do it. Want to do that collaboratively while several of you are sitting around a table? Put away your iPad and go get a laptop. This app has significant deficiencies. Suggestions and comments are entirely divorced from their location in the document. Other features are similarly hobbled. The enormous list of “Recent” documents is useless. Creating a new document doesn’t even put it at the top of the list. That new document goes right at the root of your Drive, by the way, with no option to create it exactly where you want it. The only way to keep things organized is through a long series of taps to move your new document to the desired location. The modal Edit/View interface is enormously frustrating. I don’t really like using Google Docs on a traditional computer. Using it on an iPad is worse.

Before writing this review, I read others' reviews, and it seems several of us are experiencing the same problem. I, too, keep getting the pop-up saying the app can't detect grammatical errors because the text is too long. I'm a stickler for proper grammar, so this function isn't a must have for me. I'm now getting this pop-up whenever I edit or add text to my document. There is no way to turn off this function, but it should be optional. Please fix this!!

Glitchy and impossible to type properly at times. An example is when I try to delete a spelling error, instead of backspacing correctly, it will jump to a completely different sentence or paragraph and jumble the words, duplicate the mispelled word I was trying to correct, or sometimes even just add words I never typed! Super frustrating. Works fine on the browser but this app is really buggy. Edit: it got worse. So much worse. Why do I suddenly need to revert changes on all of my documents??
