There are many benefits to using Classroom:
• Easy to set up – Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.
• Saves time – The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review and mark assignments quickly, all in one place.
• Improves organization – Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g., documents, photos, and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
• Enhances communication – Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.
• Secure – Like the rest of Google Workspace for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.

Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect, and grade assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.
Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has turned in work and grade the assignment - at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.

Good app, could be improved
Apr 19, 2021 By kjisnjsni)I’ve been using Google Classroom since 4th grade, and I don’t see any major problems with it. Frankly, the app’s reviews are only so bad because a bunch of students are sulking about having to use it for school. I receive notifications on my iPad when new assignments are posted, and that’s super helpful especially during distance learning so I know what I have to do. Despite many reviews saying that the app crashes or doesn’t load, it works just fine for me on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Google Classroom is a useful app for both teachers and students for posting and organizing assignments. However, I do wish that there you could upload several files at once. Now, I have to upload one at a time and, depending on the size of the file, it can take a bit long (15 seconds). Also, my Google Classrooms aren’t always the most organized (not the app’s fault), so it would be great if there was a search bar. If I needed to find an assignment, I could search up its name and it would show up. Finally, right now I can’t find a way to edit my comments. This isn’t a big error, it’s just annoying. If I want to change something small I have to delete it and write it all over again. All in all, the many horrible reviews are unjustified in my opinion. Google Classroom is a very good app and doesn’t deserve all the 1-stars it’s getting. more -
Jul 24, 2020 By Meredith MooneyGoogle Classroom made everything easier during distance learning. It was easy, accessible, and had a great interface. The aesthetic was simple and clean, and was quite easier to look at than some of the things I have seen. As a student, I was struggling with quarantine and separation, but this made it SO MUCH SIMPLER. Just, click click, you can do your work. Click again and you can turn it in. Teachers can make announcements, video chats, and lessons without hassle. All in all, this is amazing! more -
Has a lot of potential
Dec 8, 2020 By NicolinusI think this is a great tool for what it’s designed to do. Does that mean it’s the best tool out there? Well, not quite. It has a lot of potential to be something great, however, constant bugs among other things brings it down. I’ve been noticing that I can’t edit an assignment from any device, except for my computer once an assignment has been released. This gets very frustrating when, as a teacher, I need to add a couple quick pictures to my assignment from my phone, and I’m bot allowed to. I’m constantly told that since it was originally scheduled, it’s past the assigned date, and I need to take off the scheduling, so I do. However, once I do that, it always tells me that something went wrong, and I can’t save the edited assignment. This happened to me today, and while it doesn’t usually bother me too much, it was beyond frustrating and stressful. My school suddenly shut down today so many students didn’t have any materials at home such as textbooks. I took some pictures, and was trying to upload them during my lesson, but I have to teach 5 different grade levels simultaneously. You can imagine my stress levels when I had 5 different grades asking for help in math at the same time while I was trying to figure out how to get my pictures posted as quickly as possible. Again, I think this app has a lot of potential, but it’s not being nurtured like it could be. more -
Good app, but what's with all the negative reviews for?
Dec 21, 2020 By Google search SearchSo since the coronavirus we have been doing online learning. I've been using Classroom for school and post secondary program that I do. It's pretty efficient and let you turn in assignments, gives notifications when a teacher posts and assignment, and everything else it's supposed to do. And for those of you who are complaining about too many notifications, that's all on your teacher not the app. Of course there are problems that do occur, but that's because so many people are using the Internet during the pandemic. Besides, if classroom went away, then schools and organizations would have to search for a different way of doing it, which may be hard than you already know. I use voiceover which is a screen reading software for blind and visually impaired people. The navigation with voiceover is pretty good on the app in my opinion. I also like how it uses Google calendar so you can be reminded about assignments. So for those of you who make fake negative reviews, stop it! It won't help you or anybody else, in fact it will only make it worse. You do realize that we also have the online version of Classroom right? Of course not all apps can be perfect, but this is crazy how people are just spamming it was one star reviews. more -
Jun 29, 2021 By Christy HackneyLike everyone else my daughter had to use Google classroom due to the pandemic. Going full virtual was a challenge to say the least, however this app did make it somewhat easier(if thats possible) After using it for a couple days she picked it up with no problem. The only issue was when she couldn't figure her homework out and I wanted to print it, I couldn't find any way to do that. Do not like that at all!!! I know the whole point was to be virtual but some kids and adults learn hands on more -

Sep 12, 2020 By Mackenzie WalkerThis is a great app. Easy use, notifications for classes/assignments are nice and work well. The only issue is that after the latest update, it says all of my classes are "unavailable" if I use the app. This doesn't happen on a computer and works perfectly normal, but it is very frustrating to be unable to use on the go or when a computer is unavailable, aka, the purpose of the app. Otherwise, great app, very useful, and works well when not acting up. more

Lots of issues recently
Feb 24, 2022 By Danasia M.I actually like Google Classroom as a student and don’t mind when my teachers assign things on there, especially considering Virtual-Remote Learning is becoming more pervasive. However, recently, there have been loottss of bugs, and it can be very irritating after using the app for a while. One issue that has been persistent for a couple of months now is when I go on an assignment, you’re aren’t able to scroll up to see all of the links your teacher attached to the post. You have to do some weird magical scroll-up + tap trick in order to access the other links (or if the other links are drives, you can swipe from the first one); however, this wasn’t always an issue. Additionally, a recent issue that has just come up is when you tap on a question, you can’t see the question at all. The only way you are able to see it is when you’re on the classroom feed (in which it is not even displayed all the way sometimes and is cut off with ellipses) or on the ‘All Classes’ home page (in which it is also cut off). This is super frustrating, as now I’m not even able to view the entirety of the questions posted by my teachers. If this was an update, please reverse it, as it is the opposite of helpful. Again, I like Classroom, but please fix these issues, Google. more

Necessary but hated
Aug 13, 2020 By shilohofzionFor the fact that it works sometimes how I need it to on my phone (My computer version ,aka the website, works better but sometimes I don’t have my computer) I give it 2 stars. I can sometimes get everything I need without it crashing. But as a student who cares about her education and grades I need things to be turned in on time and have it look decent, The app version will glitch and I look at it on my computer and it will look like it was done on a phone .... if you know what I mean. Some teachers are a lot stricter with due dates and even with COVID I have a life, I still travel to cousins houses (we get tested often) for different reasons but sometimes I’ll get a notification of my teacher posting something & I will be out of the house away from my computer and I need that done then and what has happened way to many times is said strict teacher will give me so many hours to complete said assignment. Then guess what... GOOGLE CLASSROOM DOSENT LIKE DATA. So guess who can’t get that assignment in on time ... me. I’ve talked to the teacher about her crazy timed assignments during COVID and thank the one above that I don’t have to have her class again but I need to have a easily loading and non-crashing app/ site to get my high school education on. Also there are NO notifications about when something is about to be due. Fix it pleasee! more -
Sep 17, 2022 By Tobialright on my chromebook, it's fine. it works well, not laggy, and notifications always show up. but my problem is when i try to use it on my phone. i have tried logging in to my school email on the app, and it just doesn't work. it says that the email was not found and i still haven't figured out how to do it. if this is fixed, i will definitely rate it higher, but until then, 2 stars. edit: the link didn't help. still 2 stars. more -
Dec 1, 2020 By Pugkin5405When the app actually works, it's a great app. Helps me stay ontop of my work without having to remember to check my computer. Unfortunately, it seems to never work. Class room hasn't been able to load anything new for almost a month for any of my classes, so I don't get any notifications and need to constantly check my computer. Other than that, assignments that I turned in would unsunmit themselves, or take forever to turn in. The app has been really useful to me, but now it's useless more -
Nov 13, 2020 By TheDiamondFactoryIt keeps saying I have missing assignments even though my teacher has graded them. It only does it on the app, the computer version is completely up to date. Definitely needs a dark theme. Things need to be easier for teachers and even add a tutorial for teachers or a frequently asked questions section. The layout of the app is also super confusing and overly complicated. more -
Jan 10, 2021 By JupiterThere is constant crashing and I cant do the work teachers give me. I also am having issues with opening assignments when I can finally get past the "getting into the app" part. When I tap on the assignment, an error pops up either saying "this file is not available" or "failed to open, try again later". This is probably one of the worst apps for schooling I have ever been on and I'm sure many more people agree more -
Add and view comments does not work in iPad and iPhone
May 16, 2022 By Whimsy CollectiveMy title should read “ Add and view comments does not work in iPad and iPhone, be sure to view google classroom in the browser and not google classroom app” The UI is not the same as the Desktop web app when it comes to adding comments to turned in items. I had to tap the top right open in the app like slides or docs. Trying to adding comments to slides to specifics by highlighting words or cell in a table does not bring up the UI comments bar for some reason. I have to tap several different times to bring up the slide’s UI edit bar. It’s not easy to discern that the comment icon is add or just view comments. When viewings comments there’s not add comments within the view comments. Editing comments; the entry text field is not scrollable with there are multiple lines or paragraphs. So that we clear on my review. The whole adding comments within a submitted item experience is not the same as it is with the Desktop web app. It’s annoying to work around and it takes me twice the effort to accomplish my of giving feedback for a given item was turned in by a student. I also can’t view my co-teachers comments. I left my laptop at home so I can travel light and try to do the same tasks while I’m using the iPad and iPhone. Instead I’m doing more work hopping to apps and back to google classrooms and yet I can’t see my comments that I added in the slides or PDF. It’s pretty frustrating. more -
Dec 5, 2020 By ỮŁŦŘΔI have tried uninstalling and installing the app, restarted and shutting off my phone, and even asked my teachers about it; I still can't get into a class without it saying there's something wrong and it's not updated to the assignments and I have to email my teachers my screenshots of the completed assignment and I can't fix it. This is not a very well made app, but somehow for many it's great... more -
A student’s perspective
Jan 28, 2021 By all earthlingsGoogle classroom as a website is useable but can be very frustrating to navigate and find assignments that are missing with no “missing work” folder or anything like that. The app takes all your frustration from the website and doubles it. All the flaws from the website remain while adding many on top of it. If you want to do any work on mobile devices to bad, the navigation on this app is terrible not helped by the impossible input lag and extremely long load times to even just view and assignment let alone do one. What makes this even worse is the team that made this has barely touched it sense it came out, this app has been unusable for years and continues to get worse as the hardware in my phone slows down. As a 14 year old I can’t afford to buy a new phone every few years and am currently using an iPhone 8 which is about a year old right now. From day one of me getting this app it has been nothing more but reminder to do school. What makes this even worse is the fact I do online school, I’m fortunate enough to have a personal computer that’s able to do what I need it to without much struggle but if a student had to learn from a mobile device with this app they would have extreme lag problems. Even testing this app on an iPad (6th gen) I was extremely laggy to the point I would be spending 5 minutes to even load into one class. This app is a disaster and needs to be fixed ASAP more -
Aug 31, 2020 By Ethan HunterI've uninstalled, and reinstalled, and updated. This app will show me my classes, them say info is outdated as it shows a blank screen, when I know very well I have assignments. Very frustrating, I'm in 9th grade and constant traveling, and need a communication platform for classroom, since I can't bring my laptop in the car. Good app, but not when it doesn't work. more -
Terrible Notification System
Nov 26, 2021 By L44GY_BOIWhen I was first using this app, nothing out of the ordinary happened. that was until recently, some of the private comments that were on my school computer but not on my phone was there. My school chrome book never really alerted me of private comments added from my teachers so i used this app. Unfortunately, i missed a ton of private comments with important suggestions to improve that assignment. After all of the missing private comments i never even knew i had until a month later, i found out that the grades i got on my infinite campus (which has a better notification system) were terrible. My school used a rubric as a grading system (which used 1’s 2’s 3’s and 4’s) I had a 1 in one of my important final project summary all because of the terrible notification system. that one bad grade was for a perseverance grade, which meant that i can revise my work from suggestions from my teachers. but since I didn’t get that notification, my science teacher thought i ignored it and didn’t even try at all. That’s not even the worst part. the worst part is that i have to show my GRADE to my parents during CONFERENCES. imagine having to explain to your parents about your terrible grading on the science project that was worth 30 percent of your grades in the trimester. I’m screwed at this point and I just wanted to point out the fact that not all private comments (especially important ones) are notified to me. more

Worse ever..
Nov 17, 2022 By DOWNLOAD APP!Having a missing work folder can be helpful, but if children can see/read it, and if they have a ton, or few it can push thoughts like why can’t I finish this am i useless am I lazy? Which can cause suicidal thoughts which I do not appreciate, and this can stress children out not the missing work just the work since it could be due tomorrow an essay I believe all work should only be allowed to be due 2 days ahead, or even 3! Since this can help out on work which can be confusing, hard to read, or even useless i also believe you should have a button if a work is due today they should have a extension button which if a student clicks it sends out a note/private comment to the teacher saying “This Student needs an extension to this Google Classroom Assignment (link to assignment) this can extremely help within essay's, etc i also believe that this all can stress out an child’s imagination, and future imagine if your a younger student around 2nd grade 3rd grade - below it can ruin your imagination having to do assignments, or homework all the time, or keep looking at a screen which can damage eyes! more -
REALLY GOOD
Oct 17, 2022 By Film director 101This app is so much better then schoology. We used this during remote learning and it was great, I had no problems with it. But since a lot of schools used this app at that time, they decided to write bad reviews on purpose so we wouldn’t have to use an app for learning. But doing that, it just made it worse because now a lot of schools use schoology (better known as my nightmare) anyways we’re not gonna write a hate review about schoology (I already did that) instead we’re gonna write a good review on google classroom. I loved it so much because it was an actual app with very little glitches or bugs. It made it super easy to submit and told us upcoming, late, and due tomorrow assignments. It was great. It even had a calendar. Anyone was able to post, even the students. And you could write private comments to your teacher it you were confused. You could also write public comments inside of a post that anyone could respond to if you had a question. I’m very disappointed that our school district got rid of google classroom 😢 anyways, if you made it this far, thank you for reading what I had to say! more -
Google classroom app for the blind in the visually impaired community.
Mar 1, 2021 By iOS master 2020I really do love this app, because it is very accessible to those with visual impairments, I also like the fact not only that you can do a Google dock while working on any assignment at the exact same time, but you can also do it through Google forms as well, because Google forms are a lot better for those with visual impairments. So, if any of you guys out there are visually impaired or blind like me, you should definitely try out the Google form, because the Google form will be definitely better for you, but if you want to continue working with the Google dock perspective, then I am fine with that. Also, I really do not know why people are writing bad reviews, if any of you guys out there are writing a bad review, then I would suggest you guys go back to the review section and try it again, because what I am seeing right now, it’s absolutely not good at all. Anyways. I really do appreciate this app, thank you guys for your service, and please continue to make this App more accessible for those with visual impairments, and thank you for your time. more -
better than on school issued computer
Sep 28, 2020 By ❤️faberry❤️As much as I hate to say it, this app is actually a lot more helpful to me than doing it on our school issued computers. I know people are giving Google Classroom bad reviews because they want it to be taken off of the App Store so that they don’t have to do their work, but I prefer using this app to using the computer, because number one, you get notifications, number two, when you open the app, it shows you what’s due, and number three, I don’t have a million tabs open like I do on my computer. Anyone I know will tell you that I hate school, but I actually quite enjoy using this app to do school work on my phone. It’s way more compact than a computer, you can take it anywhere and don’t have to worry about wifi, everything is right there and easy to use, and it’s just less to carry overall. In fact, just today I was able to finish two assignments from my phone while I was in the car thanks to this app. I definitely recommend the Google Classroom app to anyone who uses it, but also anyone who has a busy life or doesn’t have a lot of free time to sit down and work on school. more -
Been using for 2 years now and it’s awesome!
Feb 8, 2021 By TheWorldOfGamersGGI have been using Google classroom even before the pandemic in school and I love it. Very awesome way to turn in assignments from home since a lot of people are doing online learning and teachers can grade it and leave comments just like regular school. But the thing that shocked me was all the one star reviews! I love Google classroom and I am very comfortable with it! People are very toxic about it and I see no problem with the app! A lot of positive stuff came out of this app and the people that rate it one star are not human. It’s probably there internet or it’s the teachers but before the pandemic barely anyone used it because they didn’t think the would have to do online learning. So give the teachers a break! I was confused at first but through the months I started getting used to it, and the teachers are getting used to it to. So if there is something wrong with your classroom than don’t just rush over to the App Store to file a complaint, that’s just being impatient and toxic. And I feel bad for google because they deserve better than one star. more -
Don’t like Google Classroom? Better than other stuff out there.
Jun 8, 2021 By HandsomeJack2008Kinda mad that a bunch of 9-year olds banded together for a bunch of stupid 1-star reviews. YOU YOUNG-UNS HAVE IT EASY! I used this website for 5 years and not much is bad about it at all. Simple, efficient, and clean. But this year my school department department decided this wasn’t enough. They switched us to Canvas because they said it was “easier to use”. I know it’s meant for college classes and stuff, but it’s not a good choice for a bunch of clueless kids. GC has three main tabs. Some of Canvas’s classes have EIGHTEEN (6 times as complicated for the kids here who can’t multiply but still know how to write a review). It took us over a month to figure out all its mechanics (Google Classroom, maybe a week tops?). I’m sure I’m still not even doing most of it properly. Everyone in my class strongly disliked Canvas. Even the teachers were held against their wills. Sorry if this was so over-sensationalized and aggressive. My point is, don’t complain when you have it better than someone else. more -
Stop rating it bad
May 19, 2020 By pokemonmaster2616This app is amazing! I don’t know why people are trying to take it down. Please stop rating it one star. You guys are basically saying “I don’t want a future.” I know no one likes work and I get that, but doing work will help you pursue what your dream job is. Stop rating it bad for no reason, you guys are ridiculous for doing that. I literally saw someone just said “it’s a challenge” or something like that. How would you like it if you made a app. It’s a great app, and out of nowhere people start rating it one stars and putting the most stupid reasons for reviews on the app. You would feel crush, and what if you saw the post to get rid of your app that you worked so hard on, you would feel horrible. Also how much work your teacher gives is not the apps fault. I see people saying “It’s a bad app cause I get to many work from my teachers.” That’s not the apps fault. Maybe you wouldn’t have so much work if you actually did it and didn’t leave stupid reviews that aren’t true. All I’m saying is stop rating it bad! more

Google Classroom is great
Aug 26, 2022 By Jodi CullinsThis is a great app. Easy to use, notifications for classes/assignments are nice and work well. I don't really like the latest update. -
Good app, could be improved
Google Classroom is a very good app and doesn’t deserve all the 1-stars it’s getting. more -
Jun 29, 2021 By Christy HackneyLike everyone else my daughter had to use Google classroom due to the pandemic.
Otherwise, great app, very useful, and works well when not acting up. more -
Great resource for students.
Jul 30, 2021 By y u h <3I’m only 10 and I like the app. I don’t really enjoy school but it helped a lot during virtual learning. I like how you can use it on the go with your iPhone and still get to catch up with assignments with the notifications. My friend is making me make a bad review but really that’s not my opinion. It’s good that on the phone you can do things like you can on the computer, such as comment, turn things in, and view your work. The only thing I don’t like is that you need to download a lot of Google apps to actually be able to edit your work on the phone. All of those apps on my phone for on-the-go learning takes up storage. For example, when I am in the car and on Google Meet because I don’t want to miss class but still have to go somewhere, I sometimes have to do work while riding in the car. I can’t bring a whole computer since my parents wouldn’t let me, so I have to download a bunch of apps to be able to launch assignments on my iPhone. I also have to use it for when my WiFi goes out and my computer doesn’t work. Other than all of those apps, it’s good and good on the computer. I recommend that students and teachers get in on the phone. more -
A minor problem
Mar 11, 2022 By Thank_You1234567890The app is great I receive notifications from google classroom every time the stream is updated. The app doesn’t glitch often and if it does it’s nothing that will get in my way. Teachers receive notifications when things are turned so I don’t have stop and email them myself. I can see what is graded and when everything is due. I can see who is also in the classroom. Everything is labeled and easy to navigate unlike like other apps I’ve used in the past. However I did give it four stars only because it’s a little hard to find any missing assignments so if there was a place I could go just to see the missing assignments this app would as close to perfect as possible. As a side note a lot people are giving bad reviews, which are most likely immature kids who think that giving a bad review will get them out of school work. It won’t the school will just find another app to use and then everyone will have to spend time learning how to navigate it. The app has no extreme issues that neither I nor my fellow peers have come across. It’s a great app for school and does everything that it is intended to do. Thank you for reading this review. more -
Everyone is wrong
Mar 27, 2021 By CharmibarmieI think Google Classroom is fine if you don’t wait to turn in your assignments at the last minute. I can rearrange my classes in the order I want. For the person complaining about file finding: your teachers hold the extent to how organized the online classroom is laid out. They can make sections and place materials or assignments under the section, making the correlating assignments/materials easier to find. *Although a search bar function to find a particular file would be nice.* It takes less than a few seconds for a PDF to be uploaded, a few seconds for a DOC to be uploaded, not too much time. The person complaining about google taking too long costing them late assignments: that’s your fault, don’t go until the last minute maybe? Take the late, own it, it’s whatever. Maybe you can talk to your teacher about the slow upload, I don’t think the teacher will find it amusing. I have had assignments turned in late because Google Classroom seems to upload things slower if I’m on a time panic haha. So perhaps the uploading time could be reduced in some way, I’m not an expert. Overall, organized app with little to no glitches. more -
Great but has room to grow.
Jan 9, 2023 By djdreierAs a teacher, I use this app daily for my job. However there is definitely room for improvement. For example would love to be able to choose how my students are sorted alphabetically by first or last name just like the online version. Also, ability to resize the font when typing in the pdf creator for the app would be wonderful. Those are just a few ideas. Lately though the app has been crashing/freezing a lot on me as I am grading students work. Which becomes frustrating as I don’t know if what have completed or not had been saved or not. Plus the time it takes to completely shut down the app and restart it from the beginning. I have also had students complain to me about similar scenarios. Especially when using the ability to “write” on the assignments through their phone and tablet. More times than not, they loose there work. If someone could look into this error in the coding and correct it, that would be great! more -
I have a problem but overall it’s pretty good
Nov 13, 2020 By _lilina30709I’ve been using google classroom for my online school so I’ve been using it for a couple months. Honestly I have no real problems other than the notifications. I personally like using notifications on my iPad so I can know when new assignments are posted and just announcements in general. The problem is though that the notifications come a bit later then when the assignment is posted. I expected them to come as soon as the assignment was posted but I noticed that it comes a bit later. It’s happened a couple times now. I mean it’s only a couple minutes so it’s not that bad but I’ve read reviews that said it’s been a lot longer or even a couple minutes before the assignments due. This problem should be fixed quickly because it’s a problem many people have. Not just me but a bunch of people. People are also getting their assignments late and honestly that’s not something good. Thank you for reading this and I hope you fix this problem quickly. more -
Review from a college student.
Aug 29, 2021 By kodokore<3The app is fine, it does what it needs to do. I normally don't write reviews but i kinda felt the need to when all i see is lot of people complaining about issues that don't even have to do with the app itself, like for example harsh due dates and some notifications not being sent. (this is not counting the angsty highschool students saying all kinds of wacky stuff and giving 1 star just cause) Trust me, while i know its frustrating it’s literally not the apps fault. Most of the time anyways. However i do think that if its a big issue for you, you should be more vigilant when it comes to your work and when it needs to be to hand in. Don't depend on an app to notify you when its due. And obviously talk to your teachers or professors when it comes down to unfair timelines. With that being said its decent overall, not terrible, a bit slow but that’s expected considering so many teachers and professors are using this platform for their students more

Again, I think this app has a lot of potential, but it’s not being nurtured like it could be. more -
Lots of issues recently
Again, I like Classroom, but please fix these issues, Google. more -
Sep 13, 2020 By Janette CoriaOk so this app is fine for turning in assignments/giving assignments but the mobile app is bad at keeping up with whatever you turn in on a computer or desktop. I open my assignments on my phone to check my to-do list and it tells me that some assignments are missing when I've already turned it in on my laptop. Its super stressful and quite frankly annoying when trying to keep up with the assignments you have to do, opening up files is slow too. more -
Awesome app but one thing....(Devs Plz read)
Nov 7, 2020 By @Mr.FluffGoogle Classroom is one of the best school apps I have used. It is easy to navigate, and its very interactive. I had never had a problem with it in my life until now. During COVID-19 almost all of us have had our work done on Classroom. I don’t know if this affects anything but let me say this, to turn in work is a huge problem. I have never realized this before but since all of my work is now on Classroom, it has been nearly impossible to keep track of what has been turned in or not. I’ve tried using the Calendar feature in Classroom to keep track but sometimes the work doesn’t show up on there. What happens to me is that I do the work, then I move on to different work and end up not turning the first work in. This usually happens when there is no work attached to the turn in button but instead to the actual assignment. I finish it, but then forget to press “Mark as Done”. Even then, sometimes when I know I have turned it in, it DOESN’T TURN IN. In the end I still do think this app is awesome. Besides from the above complaint it is very easy to do things like organize work or talk with your peers( stream ). But developers, please please add a a feature where it makes it easier to know if you still have to turn something in. I think it would greatly help everyone using your app. more -
Jun 1, 2022 By njoli brownI like the fact that it's simple and clean. It's been a great holding space for materials shared with my class. It's unfortunate that formatting (boldface, italics, bullet points) doesn't hold up when you transition from laptop to phone. All of those elements which make materials easily organized and readable just disappear. more -
Hard to use during COVID.
Apr 30, 2021 By Aestheticookie678Hello! I have been using google classroom throughout Coronavirus. I have been transferred to class after class until now where i stick with my last 3rd grade teacher. It feels like every time i transferred google classroom got worse and worse. I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but if it does, you’re not alone lol. The problem is on MacBooks and only MacBooks, have the best quality on google classroom. I go to school to do testing and we use ChromeBooks there. They have the worst quality. Loading assignments, turning in assignments is all messed up. This may be the internet but I’m 99% sure it’s not because my school has awesome internet. I accidentally broke my mom’s laptop and now I’m using my IPad for school. My teacher is impatient so when i have an assignment that’s not showing up nor loading, she starts to freak out. It’ll never show up when i need it to!! I have a IPad Pro and it does that. I really need y’all to fix this because my grades are low and now at a B which is good but i need to finish the last semester with a A or i say bye to my IPad and head off to summer school. more -
Ok app. Not the best, not the worst.
Mar 16, 2021 By poodlelover32110This app is ok. I have been using it since COVID-19 started and when we all went virtual. For the most part this has been a good app. This is not a fake review, all them them are real ones, from the one-star reviews to the five-star reviews. What I like is that you can make a private comment to your teacher, like if you need help or have a question without posting it on the public comment section, where everyone can see it. I also like how it tells you when an assignment is overdue. But what I DON’T like is that when I go onto a Google Meet from the link in Google Classroom is that when my teacher doesn’t join when I join, it says, “You can’t create a meeting yourself.” But I DON’T try to create a meeting, I just want to join my class. But the notifications work well. TOO well, actually. Whenever my teacher posts an assignment, the notifications pop into my Gmail inbox every. Single. Time. But it seems to help my teachers. Google Classroom user out! more -
Good, but can be better
Feb 23, 2022 By Ofelia129I’ve used this app with my children way more than I’d like. It’s very helpful in keeping track of assignments and discussions, but it’s true potential lies at the hands of the person who administrates it. Some teachers use every aspect of the app, which is great but not the norm. Most use at best 70% of its functions and don’t care to learn much more. One thing that would be very useful for the students is a word search tool in each class. Some teachers have so MANY posts, it’s hard to locate which assignment you need. Since the posts are chronological, it may take a while to find what post you need. A search tool in each class setting would alleviate a great deal of time to find exactly what you need. The views from IPad to laptop vary greatly and we much prefer the laptop view as it lists everything with much more detail. Notifications can also be added so that ANY posts, even To Do’s, are provided. And ALL assignments should be given a Due Date, unless it’s an announcement. Perhaps add a Create tab for Announcements that don’t require due dates and leave assignments with required due date information. And add a function that allows you to link a precious post to the Announcement. A video tutorial of the basics for teachers, parents and students would also be helpful ;-). This is a good platform and we do appreciate it, but there’s always room for improvement. Thank you for your attention! more -
Not the best...
Jun 8, 2020 By 🤍Em🤍I am a student myself, and this app is kind of aggravating. Somethings are way different! For example, one question it will have an easy way to answer , normal whatever. But then, all of a sudden when you go into a different question, it is a COMPLETE different way of answering something. And, something about the complete different way, is there is no turn in button unless you do a PUBLIC comment! Also, some questions just delete themselves is there is NO turn in button at all. After all the typing, it doesn't work. Do it again, it works for a while... then says it’s ‘Missing’ I’m sorry if this comment ruined the app for you, but it is my problems. Finally, some assignments get deleted and disappear. It will NEVER load. (Eventually it will but you get what I mean) If I see a notification that a new assignment is posted, I will try to get to it but it never gets there, and it doesn’t even show it AT ALL. This app is NOT the best app. more -
Good app, too many problems to be great
Feb 25, 2021 By ZillionB34r049First off: I'm not one of the 8 year olds giving this app 1 star, as if it will be removed. Good app. Sadly, that's all you can say. The assignments take forever to load, edit, and turn in. Even when working on a PC, the heavily unoptimized webpage for Classroom, Docs trying its hardest to be a good word processor, and Slides pretending to be PowerPoint slows everything down. Then comes the biggest gripe. Where is the ability to search? The answer is: there is NONE. Zero, zip, nada. That is the biggest problem. Trying to find that one assignment? Heh, good luck, go ahead and look through the endless list of assignments, announcements, and material, because it lacks even basic sorting functionalities. For all the information they steal and how much they're worth, it's almost like Google is not even attempting to patch the most simple things. Good job Google, you've shown how much you care once again.

Fix it pleasee! more -
Sep 17, 2022 By Tobialright on my chromebook, it's fine. it works well, not laggy, and notifications always show up. but my problem is when i try to use it on my phone. i have tried logging in to my school email on the app, and it just doesn't work. it says that the email was not found and i still haven't figured out how to do it. if this is fixed, i will definitely rate it higher, but until then, 2 stars. edit: the link didn't help. still 2 stars. more -
This app needs help
Jan 22, 2021 By Big. Crazy man 986754231Let me just start off by saying it really seems like it’s the only choice for most schools because teachers barely know how to turn on their computers. This app is decent enough, everything seems clear. However I really only use the app to turn in assignments either last minute or to turn in my calculus assignments (pictures of my paper work) this is my biggest problem is turning in assignments as pictures. For starters you can only choose one picture at a time. So for example let’s say you have a 10 page calculus problem set to turn in, you have to upload each picture individually and then once you do so, it doesn’t even tell you that it is there. So you’ve got to hope it’s there, then do the rest of them. Not to mention the confusion when submitting anything that isn’t a picture. I.e. docs, drive, slides, literally everything has to be complicated in one way or another. I don’t think there is much I could say that would make the UI developers want to fix this so it’s pretty much just a rant. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. more -
Oct 3, 2020 By Donna BarberWhere is the notification bar!! I am a teacher and highly depended on the notifications to easily see comments from my students. I can't get email notifications because that feature is turned off at our school. Google Classroom is really a pain to use...not teacher friendly at all. And I am NOT one of those technology challenged teachers. Really need to get that feature back! more -
Feb 9, 2021 By kameryn byrdIn the beginning everything went smoothly. I was able to turn in all my assignments from my phone and view announcements. But for the past couple weeks, when my assignments said they were 'missing' and I went to the press the assignment it said class not found. Also it doesn't update the announcements. Sometimes when my teachers post things it doesn't show up on my phone and it draws me back. Because I'm not able to be on my computer 24/7, that's why I downloaded it on my phone. more -
It’s needed but the app isn’t good
Sep 29, 2021 By yeetusyeetyeetusmcfeetusFirstly, I will say as a student who cares about his grades, it’s annoying when I don’t get notifications even when notifications are on. The computer website is great, works fine and is very useable. However, this is not about the website. The app has a lot of bugs. Sometimes it takes forever to load. Sometimes, it crashes in the middle of an assignment. Sometimes the app just doesn’t open. Another issue is when I’m in the car or at a place with no WiFi, classroom doesn’t like data, so I can’t check my assignments. The app also gives notifications at 11:59 so I don’t get them before I go to bed. This is a problem cause obviously there’s nothing I can do about assignments while I’m FREAKING SLEEPING. A lot of the negative reviews are about overworking from their teachers. This isn’t one of them. I understand that it is a good resource for teachers to use, and easier than other options, but the app just needs to be updated to solve many of its problems. more -
Fine, but needs improvement.
Oct 4, 2021 By im am an annoyed studentIt’s fine, but could be better, mainly these things: If a teacher posts an assignment and the due date is tomorrow, you get a notification, but if they post it early, and the due date is midnight for the day there is school, you just get a ton of notifications saying that the assignment is due tomorrow. You should be able to edit docs/slides attached to assignments without having to open up the apps, you should just be able to edit them without doing anything extra. If you have 2 emails, one for school and for one yourself, for me, I do, and if you accidentally click the non-school email account, it goes there and shows nothing, and the notification is deleted forever. So i think you should be able to look at recently graded, edited, or commented assignments in a new tab or something. Google classroom should have it’s own grade page, that students can see for themselves, because then you have to use a third party app or website that takes months to get login information just to look at your grades, so I feel like there should be a grade system built in to classroom. And, next to the score of an assignment, it should show a letter grade next to it, so it would show your score, and a letter grade next to it. You should be able to personably change the name of classes, that only you can see, because sometimes class names are so long that there isn’t enough space to show the period number. more

I’m screwed at this point and I just wanted to point out the fact that not all private comments (especially important ones) are notified to me. more -
Feb 10, 2021 By Isaac HanniWell to start, it's a great app; however, it does have some issues. Pdf files take forever to load, occasionally doesn't show assignments, and sometimes won't refresh pages, or says that a problem occurred. This sadly isn't even the worst part 😞. The worst part is when the app actually works and it gives you assignments when it is supposed to 😭😵 more -
It’s glitching a lot
May 16, 2020 By ckhclhfkhftiWhen I first downloaded the app everything was working fine and I had no problems. I was receiving assignments from my teachers like normal, I was getting them graded, and I was able to ask questions by messaging or in-class comments. Lately, I’ve been having some major issues. The app won’t let me check my grades with glitching me out, I don’t get notifications even when I have it on, and my assignments are always going missing. I don’t know if it’s a new update but whatever it is it needs to get fixed ASAP. I personal have nothing against school and I love working from home but not with an app glitching 24/7. There are also many other reviews about this. So it’s clear that this app has many problems, the developers don’t really seem to care about this problem. I’ve seen 100+ people share about this happening to them and all of them agree that students and teachers shouldn’t use this app until the bugs are fixed. School is already stressful, and having to use a glitching app all the time makes it more stressful for students. For people saying that we’re lazy and don’t want to do work, it’s hard to use a app that glitches you out 24/7. How would you be able to do assignments if there missing? The app setup is good, but the way it carries it out is horrible. Students and teachers should use an app that is easy and enjoyable for everyone not a few! I wouldn’t recommend downloading unless you like an app that glitches every second. more
