HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND May 17, 2022

    By Sonia Davito
HORRIBLE. I DON'T RECOMMEND. Recently they lowered the amount you earn from referrals getting gas from 10¢ to .1¢...so not even 1¢ (yes, that's POINT 1¢). Also I have not been credited the 15¢ bonus for each referral you send in months (only 3 bonuses in a month AND I have sent over 30 referrals in just the last month). I use to earn a 15¢ referral bonus on an almost daily basis. Seems like a SCAM now. There is no reason to spend time referring people cause you don't get anything in return.

They are unable to cashout to banks. Jan 5, 2022

    By dᴉlℲ
They advertise on radio they can cashout to your bank account but I was unable to do so and I use a bank they have listed. They emailed me back and said the function to cashout to your bank no longer worked. Well first they said they'd have an engineer fix it then they said it was broken. Thinking of filing lawsuit for false advertising. Sick of these online companies getting away with things like this.

difficult to redeem…waste of time Nov 22, 2021

    By Jakulski Steven
Seemed like a great chance to get rebates back from gas purchases, etc., AND it was IN THE BEGINNING when they used to send a check. Will not send a physical check now. To get rebate back now requires giving them your bank account number for transferring your “cash out”, or credit to a Paypal account number, or selection of digital gift cards for select vendors. Attempts to print out the Egift card I selected fails for me. AND you can not contact them by phone. Goodbye GETUPSIDE.

Hyperbole or false advertising? Sep 4, 2021

    By On, Wisconsin!
Woman in advertising says she sometimes makes $200-$300 per month. If discounts are "up to 25 cents per gallon," that means she "sometimes" buys between 800 and 1,200 gallons per month. Let's say she has a real gas guzzler, getting only 10 miles per gallon. That means she "sometimes" drives 8,000 to 12,000 miles per month. Either that or she has a fleet of cars filling up with her app. There's hyperbole and then there's false advertising!

    1. East Coast shoppers earn cash back on food, groceries, and gas at over 800 locations, no coupons needed - just a linked credit or debit card
    2. Get up to 35% cash back every time you dine out, in addition to potential discounts on your bill
    3. Save up to 15% on groceries and $.25 per gallon on gas at over 500 participating gas stations, including Shell, Mobil, Sunoco, Exxon, BP, and more
  • Poor Customer Service Mar 6, 2021

    By Who cares 0998
There were 2 offers at the same station. However, the LOWER offer (4 cents) was visible ONLY if I zoomed in on the map while the HIGHER offer (8 cents) was visible in a plain search. This is a deceptive practice. I only realized this because when I saw the payout it was much lower than the offer. So I went back to the app to make sure and the 8 cent offer was still there. However, there was also a hidden offer at the same station only visible if you zoomed in as far as possible on the map. If that’s not clear then imagine if I put up a large sign that says “8 cents back on every gallon!” Then you fill your tank only to realize the next day that you only received 4 cents back. You come back to check the sign and indeed it says 8 cents. However, when you closely inspect it you see a tiny little sign that says 4 cents back—two offers at the same station, one plainly visible and another hidden from view. This is EXACTLY what happened with the app and it’s deceptive. However, I wasn’t even paid 4 cents, it was 3 cents. This is extremely deceptive. When I contacted customer service about it they blew me off and told me that the payment (of 3 cents) was made and if I had additional questions go to the FAQ page. Nice.

Adds up faster than you might think! I love that you can cash out to a bank acct OR to your choice of many different gift cards. In about 8 months I've gotten back around $110. It's well worth it. Some cities have more options to use it with. I'd like to see more participants in places with none. I almost always will go a little farther out of my way to shop at the places who come up in the app.

  • Used to love this app but not anymore Mar 27, 2020

This used to be an amazing app. I was saving so much money on gas and the process was flawless. However, they implemented the “check in” process whereby you skip taking a picture of your receipt and the cash back is supposed to be verified based on the credit card you have on file being used at the pump once you hit check in. Nope!!! It has never worked for me. EVERY single time I have to email the company because I don’t get the gas credit. This is also happening to my referrals. Which means I’m not getting my referral credits. This app needs to eliminate the “check in” process and go back to taking a picture of the receipt for verification. There was NEVER an issue with that method. I’m seriously considering deleting this app because I'm buying gas at stations which have higher prices, but will be lower with the credit, however if I’m not getting the credit then I’m better off getting my gas at stations with cheaper gas prices, no app needed!!!! Horrible customer service too! When I emailed them it took me a month of emailing back and forth to get the credit from just once transaction.

Was going to rate 5 stars, but the problem is that I cannot use the textboxes when trying to request a restaurant. Also, when I press the X to exit, the app thinks I requested. I know that Upside is a growing program, but in order to make it grow, you need to make sure that people are actually able to do requests for their favorite businesses or the businesses in which they work at.
  • Hopeful but still some glitches but better. Apr 30, 2022

    By Fastback66
Update, I have since given this a second chance. It has paid me on several transactions. However, the last two offers claimed that I would receive a 20 cent a gallon bonus. That didn’t happen on the first transaction and the second transaction is pending, we’ll see. I drive a lot and thought that getting cash back would be beneficial. I filled up twice in two days. I followed the directions and the app history says both are processing. One was six days ago and the other was four days ago. The app states that normally the cash back will post in four days. I even received a email from the app stating that it was taking longer than expected. However the app also states that after ten days it will be impossible to process the payment. Needless to say, my first experiences with this app has been a bit disappointing. Update, I never received confirmation that I bought fuel on my first two transactions. I contacted the app help line. Then I received two emails stating that I would not get credit for ether transaction. I will be deleting this app and going back to GasBuddy. I consider this a case of classic bait and switch. Stay away unless you want to jump through hoops.

It's okay. I've used this for over a year, and I've pulled about $20 or so from rebates. More recently, I'm not sure what's been up, but I haven't gotten anything. I know some of that is because of multiple discounts (BP.me, memberships, etc), but some of it has been issues on Upside's end. If they could fix these system glitches, the app would be fantastic, but recently it's been a bit bumpy.
  • Cheap and slow Mar 3, 2019

    By ben9109
They charge you a whole dollar to cash out to PayPal unless you are cashing out $15 or more or getting a gift card. Then when you do cash out they give to a notification that states it will take 24-48 hours to transfer your money to PayPal. First of all I know it doesn’t cost them a dollar to cash out small amounts. They say they’re passing SOME of that cost on to us, so they would have us believe that it costs them more than a dollar to transfer funds. Second, if they’re going to charge a whole dollar to transfer to PayPal then they could at least do it quicker than 24-48 hours after you cash out. PayPal only takes 2% and they transfer immediately (30 minutes tops). Lastly, this app is full of bugs. The first time I claimed an offer the app told me I had 4 hours to upload a receipt from the gas station I selected. Once I got to the gas station and pumped my gas the app suddenly crashed and logged me out. I’ve had this app for months before I actually used it and it had never logged me out before. When I tried to log back in it told me my info was incorrect. So now I had to play the log in game. Once I finally got logged back on I uploaded my receipt and the app told me I should see what my cash back would be in 24-48 hours. Then it told me 3 different discount amounts that I would be getting. This app needs A LOT of work.
  • Used to be good til it stopped working! Updated Aug 27, 2021

    By amoicani
Just like the title says. It was good at first but hasn’t worked since October of last year. They keep doing updates but failing to fix the issue of their instant check in. There is no other way to upload a receipt so since November the app has failed to work. Wish they would at least allow us to upload a receipt manually since the instant check in doesn’t work. So it’s a pointless app now. Waste of space on my phone. Too bad. —-updated—- Okay so they updated FINALLY and digital purchases are able to print a receipt and upload - only took them 8 months - but they refused to honor the credit card statements I sent them - at the request of their customer service - from Oct 2020 to May 2021. I was initially told that even the old receipts would be honored if I sent the credit card statements but then when I did send them they said it’s too late - those were old purchases. Which was EXACTLY why I sent them (& was told to send them). Clearly their customer service people aren’t communicating properly to public OR within their own org. So their customer service is less than poor but when the automated app works as it should - at least it works as it should.

I like the app. I'm surprised by how much I've received back after 3 fill ups. Yes the drawback is there aren't many choices YET but they are new and working on adding more gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores. I'm sticking with this app because so far so good. I believe it has potential and I'm curious to see how well GetUpside does in the future. EDIT: I would rather be getting discount at the pump. It takes too long to earn enough money back to download to my card.

Awesome app! It really works, no bull. You get cash back on gas, food, and groceries (groceries isn’t available in my area - Houston) you just get on the app and it acts like a google maps, you find gas stations on the map that participate, mainly I’ve seen shells and Exxon’s. You click the location you want and depending on location it tells you how much money you get back, Some places 1cent per gallon, more are 6-12 cents per gallon, and I’ve even seen 50-60 cents per gallon back. You just claim, then you have four hours from that moment to pay with card, pump (full price), and then get a receipt and upload and you receive your money 24-48 hours later but I usually receive the next day. That money can be cashed out through PayPal, by check but I think you need at least $15 and they charge $1 fee or through many select gift cards. (Chili’s, iTunes, amc, you name it and they got it for the most part. They have like 20-30 different ones. It’s also cool because I have a company gas card so that means I don’t pay for gas and I fill up always the company truck and am making money off them lol

This app can be hit and miss. Most of the time, it's fine; great even. You claim an offer, fill up, and a few days later, cash back is received. Sometimes, after going through the trouble of finding a station with an offer (usually some trashy place) and waiting multiple days... Upside "can't find your purchase" or some other random problem. By then, any receipt I might've saved is usually long gone. Unfortunately this is becoming more common and their support just rehashes the same feedback.
  • I REALLY wanted to like this app. Dec 17, 2019

    By cjustunrun
I commute 700 mile per week. So believe me when I say that I really wanted to like this app. I just tried my third attempt at using the app....1/3 attempts worked great but I have learned a little so I thought share a review.I gave it two stars because the concept and the ease-of-use for the app is really exceptional. The app is not too bulky and very straight forward. I love that you don’t have to give them all this personal info just to use the app. However, that’s pretty much where the benefit stops. With a little home work you can find out which gas stations will offer some savings. Not all the one listed will actually save you money. The problem is that so many of the gas stations that I see listed on this app are seriously depleted businesses. I’m not talking about cleanliness. I mean the pumps are broken, printers don’t work, gas is awful and causes your car to run rough... Today (for example) the only station that would offer me an actual savings only had 2 out of the 12 pumps that were operating. And they both had people parked at them while they stood inside talking and doing whatever. Not worth the $1.00 total savings to try to convince them to let me pump my gas. In the end.....they have plenty of credit cards that earn points that will convert into gift cards. Get one of those, be responsible with it, and get your gas wherever you feel like.
  • Falsely advertising a Product that isn’t being Honored - FRAUD ALERT Apr 13, 2022

    By RedRallyRacer
I have been a long time GetUpside customer but just recently I have been getting really short changed on Cashback after the transaction- Just recently I had a Cashback offer of .46 cents off per gallon for 29 gallons but only received .14 cents off a gallon— Then the next day since I was traveling I had a offer for .16 cents off a gallon but only received .9 cents off a gallon so you can see a trend I plan my trips out to get the best Cashback offer also I travel a lot so I’m getting Cashback daily. So after around 4 transactions I was short changed quite a lot I started taking screenshots right before the purchase so the times match my receipts since this deceptive practices recently I have forwarded all my receipts and screenshots to my local state attorney general office which will be conducting an investigation on gas fraud and falsely advertising a product that isn’t being offered I encourage everyone to do this as well so maybe they will get a hint when they try to save 6-7 dollars here and there maybe some fines will stop them — On top of that I have forwarded all my pictures and receipts to the Federal trade commission since they are falsely advertising something that isn’t being honored please please if this happens to you or anyone you know do exactly this every time and this will stop! A loyal customer with over 10+ referrals

I've been happy with this app since August 2021, and it's worked 95% of the time. As soon as the gas prices jumped, it stopped working for me... I mean STOPPED. NONE of my purchases have been credited since early March, and I submit receipts daily as I drive for a living. I even opened a new account, thinking my account fell into some black hole but still no payments. UPDATE - Upside is back on track! 100% of my submitted receipts were paid in April. Everything is working like clockwork again!

Great app! Nice to be able to get cash back on gas, and restaurant in my area. Unfortunately they have no grocery stores in my area. Can't wait till they do. Can cash out to my PayPay account or get gift cards do not recommend having it transferred into your bank account. The company doing it want complete bank acct access and be able to know your balance and every thing else they want. That was a big No No! No Ads!!

This is a great app. I enjoy the Google maps feature it offers upon selecting a gas station. The rewards are real, and definitely add up incrementally over time. I used to use ibotta for groceries and always had issues with getting my monetary rewards. I quit using ibotta for this reason. I was leary about get upside, but have had no issues. They make it easy for you to get what's yours.

I’ve been using this app for a little over a month now and I wish I would have found it sooner! You literally open the app, search for participating gas stations around you, claim an offer, pump gas, and then upload your receipt. Usually within a few hours after you’ll begin to earn cash back! The most I’ve personally seen offered is 19¢ per gallon cash back which is really nice! There are two negatives I have about the app though which is there have been several instances where the system misread my receipt and I received the wrong amount of cash back. Every time this happened however, I contacted the customer service team and I was issued the correct amount back hassle free! (I always attach my receipt when reaching out just to verify) Also that the only gas stations i seem to see having offers are BP and Circle K. It would definitely be nice to see more of a variety! Although in my area (OH) I’m not able to redeem offers on restaurants, groceries, etc I do recommend this app for anyone who enjoys getting a little cash back here and there! Patience is key!

So first, I travel a lot for work and my job pays for my gas. If I can get cash back while on the job, that’s great. When I first used the app it seemed confusing at first but then, over time, I became familiar with the setup. I have experienced a few set backs where I didn’t get money back. It was frustrating at first. BUT, every time I emailed the help center with my issues; they would then resolve them within that week! All you have to do is keep the gas station receipt and send them a copy. The biggest issue I have had was when I got a new phone. I got booted from my account and when I went back to login, somehow it created a new account with the same email. AGAIN, my issue was resolved that week after emailing the help center. My costumer rep was Ada. Ada was very nice, genuine, helpful, and caring! 10 out of 10 for their costumer service. Lastly, some of the bad reviews I have seen could have been mitigated by reviewing terms and policy as well as the small notations on the apps different pages.

I would recommend this app for one reason, It does work. Like any other app that deals with a actual money, your routine must be done precisely and does take effort. Make sure the picture is clear and as and must follow their procedure which can take some getting used to. Only problems I’ve had is when I switched to a new phone it took a little time to retrieve previous cash back to follow along but got it eventually. As well as sometimes things are not perfect as far being it does not always get verified from the gas station. But no app is perfect and especially when dealing with money. But being I use it I give this advice. Don’t go out of your way to get the gas by following most cash back. You have to use common sense and figure what really helps you pay the least. Also I highly recommend keeping all receipts until rewarded being you can’t go gas stations if you have an issue. I say this entirely from experience only. Follow these steps. Make sure you understand what saves most money. Keep receipts from both types of credibility. Be proactive with app support if you have an issue and make sure you follow all of app’s guidelines: Clear photo of that is how your doing. Make sure you don’t use cash because it doesn’t work as purchase. I don’t recall being advised this through app, but makes sense why wouldn’t work. Keep proof until rewarded. Use the correct type of gas you say you’re using and you can change this at all times. Be proactive if you have an issue.

  • Used to be good til it stopped working! Updated Aug 27, 2021

  • Only a Couple Problems, Otherwise Amazing Dec 1, 2021

I would give this five stars but there are a couple things that are annoying that I just wanted to bring to the attention of the developers. As of a few months ago, my Google login seems to only be good for a few days before I am required to sign in again to the app. So basically, every time I want to fill my car up about once every 4 to 7 days, I have to sign in with my Google credentials. It used to not be like this and it’s annoying that I have to do that now. The only other thing that bugs me a bit is that (just before filling up the tank) the list of previously used credit cards are extremely small and it is easy to accidentally click on the wrong credit card. I have my work card and I have a few personal cards that I use. If I accidentally clicked on the wrong card, then I have to use that card or forfeit the claim. For that matter, I also wish that I could edit the list of cards and or just assign names to them such as work, Capitals One, or Chase, etc. The list currently just shows numbers and whether it is Visa or Mastercard and it is sometimes hard to figure out among all my Visas.

I am a Roadside Assistance Tech, I've gotten alot of distance with this app, however I feel it should be easier to change Fuel Types on the fly. I've had a few errors out due to the inconvenience if trying to change the fuel Types, Since I service all kinds of vehicles with different fuel requirements, Deisels, premium, and regular... Still tho, great app
  • Good app but chance to be great Dec 13, 2019

The app has been fantastic and I had given it 5 stars in the past but ever since the update a few months ago where the app allowed location check in via GPS at a station and no upload of receipt and they search for your card number in a transaction with that station it hasn’t worked in those instances and no money back is earned and have to weeks later submit the receipt to the support team. It still works flawlessly and quickly if you do it the old way of uploading a receipt. Only issue is when you check in at a station that does it that way you have to do it that way and no option to upload receipt is ever given. So for now I try to avoid stations that use the check in option but point is I shouldn’t have to avoid those and unfortunately those stations tend to be the higher cash back amounts. If the team fixes this issue or at least allow the user to choose the way they would like to do it (either check in or upload receipt) regardless if the station is a check in station, the app would be back to 5 stars. Otherwise stick with the non check in stations and you will be ok and the app will work good for you.

Using the app is easy and their customer service team is quick to respond and generally very helpful. If I had any downside (pun intended), it's that sometimes the gas prices displayed differ from the actual price paid upon arrival. If you are ultimately looking for the cheapest option after cashback, that affects your decision and you may waste a trip by checking in to a more expensive station. Id love for stations to be held accountable for inaccurate pricing, if possible.
  • Not so great Dec 5, 2020

    By Fusun125
Downloaded the app because my co-worker recommended since we drive the company vehicles. First time they give you an extra 15 cents so my cash back was 30 cents. After that it go back to the regular like from 1 cent to 15 cents, and the gas price at the gas stations are never the same as advertised on the app. No problems since we drive the company vehicles. Then the problem was they ask you to enter the first 6 and last 4 of your credit card on the app and then you don’t have to submit the receipt and when I checked in at the gas station it didn’t give me the option to scan in the receipt. So 10 days later ( the maximum time to process your claim) they emailed me said they can’t give me the cash back because they can’t find the transaction. After using this app for 6 months now. Wish the app would just let people upload their receipts instead because almost every gas station so far except for Marathon, would process 10 days and email you they can’t find the record. So you would have to email them the receipt. Make sure keep a record of your receipt.

Solid app and it does what it claims. One caveat: I had one experience with a local gas station where my claim was rejected because of a time discrepancy in claiming the offer and redeeming it. I was very confused, because I pumped my gas within minutes of claiming the offer and uploaded the receipt immediately. When upside sent the explanatory email with the photo of the receipt, it turned out that the receipt itself showed an incorrect time stamp! I had bought gas around 11 a.m. and the receipt showed the purchase was after 7p.m. I have no idea how it is even possible for a clock to be so off, if the station was somehow manipulating their own systems to change the time stamp (which I would think would be questionable, legally). I can’t explain the incident at all, I just know I was wrongly denied a claim because the thought that the time on a receipt could be wrong never occurred to me. Recording it here for others’ sake so that all users are alerted: check your receipts and make sure all information is correct, even the info you didn’t think /could/ be tampered with.
  • Slowwwww! Aug 4, 2021

    By godscon
This is a great app but…it’s so slow in loading and responding! I sometimes will wait for a whole minute before it loads local stations that participate in their program. And then if I want to click on something, the delay in response is so significant, that I’ll try to “Re-click”. Which end up messing something up and I’ll have to darn near start over. Which is a headache all in itself. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clicked on the wrong station and missed a discount because of the delay. And then if you have to close out the app suddenly, you will not be able to pick up where you left off. You’ll have to go thru it all again… I’d give it 5 stars if this got addressed. I’m a trucker and with the price of fuel these days, it’s a valuable tool. I’ve saved over $200 so far since late January and that’s just in the cash back. I aggressively shop around for the best fuel prices so that $200 is gravy on top of the $$$$ I’ve saved from searching around. Hopefully this gets addressed soon! It’s a great tool!

  • When it works!?! 2.5 Stars Jan 21, 2022

    By Zinom576
When it works it’s great and easy to use, but that’s only about 1 in 5 purchases (I’ve only used it a gas stations so far). The rest of the time I get emails saying my cash back couldn’t be processed because they can’t find record of the transaction. I missed out on a handful of cash backs, before I learned to print and keep a receipt for each transaction so I can respond to the rejection email with a picture of the receipt. I get gas 2-3 times a week so it’s a bit of a hassle and waste of paper. They will usually process the cash back once I send them a copy of the receipt (not sure why they don’t just let you upload it from the start to save time)…but even then it’s done outside the app history so it’s hard to tell if they really do it and it’s usually after you’ve already waited about 3 weeks. I’ve also had one transaction that I’ve emailed them about 6 different times over the last 2 weeks and have yet to get any response to any of the emails. I’d like to give this more stars because the cash back is great, but there is too much extra work done on my part just to make each transaction process when the app has the ability to make it easy if it worked properly.

Great to save on gas with only one exception. Anytime I fill up completely the server doesn't connect my transaction and I miss out big time with fuel rewards. I've even submitted my receipts to customer service to show proof, and they always dismiss them. Fix this issue and it would be an Amazing app to help save consumers some hard earned money!
  • Wording error Jan 25, 2022

    By andy199765
So the app is pretty much straight forward and fairly easy to use. The first time I used it I didn’t have any trouble but today, my second attempt, I got an email saying that my offer didn’t go through and started looking closer. Okay, so on the app it clearly says “tap check in once you make your purchase”; this direction would imply you to “check in” once the transaction has been completed…since now you’ve made your purchase. However, the email states ,in its troubleshoot list, that you must “claim your offer before you pay.” Since that is the case, that particular phrasing needs to be used in the app to give better understanding to the apps users. My first use I didn’t really understand and accidentally checked in twice once before and after my purchase which explains why it went through. Slightly annoyed but I’ll know better in the future. So with that the only other complaint is the limited gas stations listed for offers. I haven’t tried to claim any of the cash back; hopefully that’s a smooth process. I liked that you don’t have to give a bunch of info to get started though which is a plus. Gave three stars, hopefully things improve in the next update.

The app seems to be straight forward when using it with my debit card. The 19 minutes to complete a transaction thing can be bothersome at times especially if I go to a busy station. The offers could be way better too. This 1 and 2 cents per gallon most of the time almost makes it not worth it. Increase the offers and do away with the time limits and this gets 5 stars.
  • “Not a real receipt” issue Feb 9, 2020

    By JizzleBro
Been using this app for almost a year now. I can tell you that the cents really start to add up over time. Haven’t had any issues until a few months ago when every now and then I wouldn’t receive cash back because of the receipts I’ve submitted not being processed because they deemed it wasn’t a real recipient although all the receipts I’ve submitted were printed at the gas pump and would show the name and address of the gas station I claim, the time, proof of purchase with a debit card, amounts purchased, price per gallon and so on. I keep all of my gas receipts until cash back credit is given in case I have to resubmit it. Not all gas pumps print receipts in the same format but I shouldn’t have to lose out for something beyond my control. Yeahs it’s only a few cents but why participate if you can’t enjoy the perks advertised? I’ve even resubmitted receipts on numerous occasions just to keep getting denied for the same, “It’s not a real receipt” issue and where I live and travel, I don’t see the point of driving 10/15 miles out of my way just to use the “Check In” feature that a select number of gas station have. This should be a feature used all over to prevent this ongoing receipt issue.
  • Great when not dealing with customer service Aug 3, 2020

    By Jdog1290998373521
I would’ve gave this app a 5 star because initially its great! I drive regularly for my job and received an $89 gift card to Lowe’s after about 5-6 months of getting gas with the app. I decided to wait until after I tried getting another gift card if the app would actually pan out. I got flagged for using gift cards as a method of payment, which increases the number of cards on your account. So I had to deal with customer service.... One of the worst customer service technicians I have ever dealt with. I emailed to figure out a way to unlock my account so he sent me what I could do and provide his with the last card I used and where I used it. Upon receipt of my email, I received another with instruction to do the same with the last 3 cards I’ve used. Seems like they just wanted me to jump through hoops and will drag out the process to renew my account. Very unprofessional, Would’ve liked to know every thing I needed to do in the first email. There are other gas reward apps out there that I will try. Use my experience to learn. Try everything in your power not to deal with customer service and you should be fine.
  • Useful, but App needs work Dec 5, 2021

    By Happy Paper Saver
I have gotten a lot of money back using this App, so I not complaining about that! The program works, and it’s an awesome concept that works for consumers and businesses. I have used this App for over 3 years, exclusively for fuel. Perhaps if other deals interest me, I may explore them in the future. The App needs work. It is slow to load, if you have a poor data connection, it may fail all together, even when other apps are still connected. It seems like maybe it’s using too much bandwidth and/or processing power. If a gas station requires you to “check in” rather than upload a receipt, there is no way to cancel your check-in once you’ve selected it. For example, my connection was poor last week at a particular station and the app was a little laggy. I must have accidentally touched the screen while it was loading because it checked me in with a card registered with my accounts but I didn’t have with me. I couldn’t cancel the check-in and had to claim the offer again and use a different card. Luckily, the offer was still available. A few tweaks and this app would be a lot better.

Was really looking forward to using this app. The cash back rewards would have been great --had I been able to use any of them! There was NOT ONE offer that was "near me". When I say near me...I am talking UNDER a 5 mile radius. EVERY SINGLE OFFER WAS OVER 10 miles & more from where I live. Personally I just can't see driving 20+ miles (Round Trip) to save $.11 per gallon. ESPECIALLY when gas is almost $5.00 a gallon where I live. I just can't afford the trip!

I barely want to give this app 2 stars. Like so many other pay apps, they lure you in with an initial reward, then paltry returns after that. Also, it needs to be able to switch between fuel types. Twice I have selected a Diesel offer and used the correct card and it ended up not validating (am currently in a validation period for the second, but I don't expect it to work since the first did not). It shows regular as the claimed offer. Missed out on $6 and likely not receiving the other.....

I’ve made quite a bit of money back with this app because I claim my work truck, my personal, and my boyfriends work truck. Unfortunately this app is very deceptive. Not only is it incredibly slow, but when I show a certain amount back, my boyfriend will show more back at the same station on his app under his account. What’s the deal? I purposely go out of my way for good money back and THOSE are the ones that give me issues. I ALWAYS upload a receipt for proof so they can’t tell me they don’t have transaction history. I don’t like how they changed it to the “you are here now” button which forces me to chose a card. I just wait until I’m a couple miles away and then upload my receipt. One time there was .25 back so I went all the way out of my way to get gas and then comes back with “no transaction found”. They then had to manually credit me which they did not credit me the .25 a gallon. It came out to be .15 which was that days offer. And I believe the amount of time to get your money is based on the gas station. I had this one station I went to twice and it took 2 weeks to get any money back from my purchase. This app is absolute junk and if I wasn’t making so much back on it I’d delete it and tell everyone to do the same.
  • Be careful they switch offers after you claimed one Oct 5, 2021

    By scootsmcgoots238
Update: still reaching out to customer service and will update what I hear back. My hunch is now that the one offer is gone off the site completely and it was taken off between when I claimed and submitted receipts so my offer defaulted to a nearby place. Just a guess. I had been doing well and getting cash back for gas and restaurant purchases. However, I went to get a restaurant purchase cash back and claimed the offer at spot A. I submit receipts for the same spot, A. The next day they say I went to the wrong spot and now my history has a restaurant listed that I have never heard of or claimed. They switched the restaurant in my history. Trust me I searched for the spot I wanted and selected it and submitted receipts all for spot A with no question. When I requested help, they reference a gas station and give me 3 cents back but this was a restaurant deal for 7 dollars back. They did not read my request. Previously I received 0.67 back for a restaurant that was supposed to be 21% with a max of 7 dollars. You really need to watch them to be sure it is correct. I think lots of people don’t pay attention and get ripped off. It also seems like a bait and switch that may need to be investigated. Good luck.
  • Not Applying Correctly Dec 29, 2020

    By lordhavemercu
This app has several issues. I’ll claim an offer for 17 cents for example and then once it’s done processing a few days later it says the cash back wasn’t the same as the day I got gas. So if it was 17 cents that day, when it finally processes it only gives me 2 or 3 cents back instead of what it originally said and there is no way to file a dispute. ALSO, I work through doordash which is why I even downloaded this at all bc they gave us a promo that should give us an extra 20 cents off on top of whatever the app already gives off and it’s not applying. I got gas yesterday for 17 cents off, 7.74 gallons of gas. With the promo that’s 37 cents off so I should’ve gotten $2.86 back but it didn’t apply the promo and I only got back the 17 cents for $1.32. There is no customer service just a bot that can’t answer these kinds of questions. I use this app EVERY time I get gas and it’s honestly not worth it if it’s not going to give me my correct cash back. $1 here and there isn’t worth it. I signed up BECAUSE of the doordash promo and it’s not even applying. Until they fix these bugs, I wouldn’t recommend this app. You have to go out of your way to get the discounts and they don’t even correctly discount so it’s not worth the effort.
  • If Only Prices We’re Correct Dec 16, 2021

    By Bartolololo
Thought I’d give this a shot after seeing an ad. First 3 stations I tried all had prices dramatically higher than those posted on the GetUpside App ($.25 to $.29), which combined with the rebates made them more expensive than the station closest to my house. I noticed the disclaimer that prices may not be correct “due to limitations in data reporting.” At the third station (RaceTrac), the GetUpside price was listed as $2.71, so I used the “update” feature to enter the current price ($3.00). The app price then changed to $2.90 (why?). So I updated it again to $3.00 - still advertised at $2.90. After filling up at my regular station (no rebate, but still cheaper), I noticed that the RaceTrac I just updated was then advertised at $2.75. Writing this review about 30 min. later it now says $2.71. Just checked Google maps, which accurately puts it at $3. Safe to say the prices in GetUpside are unreliable, to put it generously, which means it’s useless for me. I would have paid more had I used the rebate offers. May try again in case today is an aberration, but gas in DFW hasn’t been below $2.80 in over a month, so I kinda doubt it. Cool idea if they can get beyond their “limitations in data reporting”… perhaps by using the Internet?

This app is a great idea but it doesn’t work. From what I understand you previously just uploaded a picture of your receipt each time. But ever since I downloaded it they supposedly can tell if you bought gas by the last four digits of your debit or credit card. This feature doesn’t work at all. It’s supposed to take 2 days to get cash back. It takes them over a week each time to let me know that they couldn’t verify my purchase. Then you email them with the picture of the receipt and they don’t have any solutions. I even had someone tell me they were doing me a favor just this once because I didn’t use the app correctly, uhm no....your app doesn’t work. You also get 32 cents off your first purchase, but it took so long to through that I actually got 32 cents off a different purchase which was much smaller than the fill-up I specifically cashed in on first for the discount. I’ve been denied because they have the address of the gas station wrong. And recently instead of 12 cents per gallon back it’s only been showing 4 cents back per gallon, but of course that gas station will be higher than neighboring ones anyhow.

So linked my card and literally after all but 2 uses had to contact the company to get my credit to the account. (10 total attempted uses so 80% failure rate) I would make a purchase and then two-three days later it would expire I would screen shot the purchase email them and they would make adjustments. Not worth all the hassle not mention after the first time I asked if this was normal they ignored my other questions as to why this was happening. I deleted the app today and found a different one let’s hope it works better than this one.****UPDATE**** Their response here is to imply that I failed to “complete” the purchase or check in. In ALL the contacts I made with customer service nothing of this was mentioned. Then they make a request that I send them proof of the lack of assistance. How do I prove a negative? You do not. My card is linked and my transactions were completed in the app and my bank and yet they still tell me that I am somehow to blame for their app failing to work? 8 out of 10 attempts. So did it randomly and magically work twice? You should have stayed silent. Your app has issues and you blaming users is one of them.

Scam, claim the item but nothing in return and can't use fuel rewards either Sep 5, 2021

Claimed $ for gas, but no money. I think they just sell to advertisers to scam them.

The savings are spotty there are very few participating vendors My largest issue is that Upside constantly spams you with notifications ( even if they are turned off in your settings) as well as spam emails. I am still waiting for someone to respond to my request to delete the account. If you don't want to be spammed I highly recommend that you don't download this app.

This app was awesome, I got over 100 bux my first year, then I had to switch cards, now nothing works, keeps saying it can't find the purchase.... Junk, not to mention I can't cash out, it sends me a link in my email, I click the link, and goes to a dead end, almost 200 bux just sitting there. I try to get ahold of support team, they're almost as bad as contacting Facebook. Stupid app
