    Keeping your home safe is one of the key concerns people have when spending time away. It's why alarm systems are so popular, but many are put off by the expense or the need for professional installation. Frontpoint has a solid mix of self-installation and reasonable cost to get you started. They can even call 911 for you if something goes wrong.

  • Decent app, recently added panic option Jan 20, 2021

    This is mostly a solid app. Shows the history of opening closing sensors and arming/disarming the panel. Plus notifies you if you go outside of a certain geographic area or if one of the sensors was left open for too long. They recently added a “panic” option in the app which great so if you’re in a situation where you can’t leave to trigger the alarm but since many people have their phones with them, they can still trigger the alarm. This isn’t app related but I wish their system had an option for another siren that can be triggered in the event of a breakin. Our hub is on our first floor and we can’t hear it at all on our second floor with the bedroom door closed. So we bought the touch pad which we were told had a 110db siren in it. It’s actually more like 60db. Can barely hear the siren over normal conversation from the touch pad. If I’m working out in the basement with my music going quietly, I can barely hear the siren from the hub.

    This app has been great to use. If functions very well and the company is absolutely outstanding. I don't think we'll be switching to a new security company anytime soon.

    Great system, should add an 'automatic arm' function. Meaning if you forget to set your alarm when you leave for work it will arm itself on a set schedule. So you can tell it that if it's not armed by 7am every morning to arm itself.

    I cannot rave enough about my experience with FrontPoint. They were the last on my list to get a quote from (should have been my first) and Zee, the sales rep who called me, was so helpful. He was understanding and empathetic of my situation and took his time to go through the layout of my home and provide recommendations that were perfect for me. It was significantly less up front than other competitors, hassle free, quick, and painless. The installation couldn’t have been simpler. Now I feel much safer knowing that my home and the people in it are protected! And I love that I can watch the video cams from my phone. Highly recommended!!!!

    I really like Frontpoint it has highly configurable alerts and controls allows adding 3rd party devices and allows you to modify the system as needs and seasons change. We really like the flood sensor as it was the first sign of a problem in the basement. It has worked without false alarm and over time as we added rooms and porches and smart z wave electronics it has really felt like money well spent; my only change would be to make it clearer when a logout and log back in is needed when you add a third party device but I love we can have best of breed thermostats lights and dimmers and cameras at a fraction of proprietary prices.

    When clicking on “support” it appeared that I had an option to search FAQ or contact support. I tried to search first but found no answer (to a very simple question: how to exchange the panel’s battery backup battery for what I get several text messages a day; there is no link from the app’s alert message to any action either). Then I decided to contact support. I could not. After minutes of trying in a half dozen ways I found no option to navigate back to contacting support. Every time I got there I was sent back to FAQ that had no answer to my question. The rest of the app works fine, but not being able to reach support for a security system is no good.

    The app is great with geo-fence options and monitoring capabilities. While there’s not a lot of documentation on the use-it’s fairly self explanatory and the times I did call support they took care of me. There are a bit of nuances that are covered in a general way in their videos. They have worked with my local police department in my annual renewals to make the monitoring portion secure and worry free. I love the control you have from the app to set the alarm if you forget, and the feature full doorbell camera is awesome especially in low light.

    I have had this system in my home for a full year. I actually have had no real issues that couldn’t be resolved with a simple phone call. 1 motion sensor went bad and it was quickly replaced at no cost to me. The tech support walked me through the process. I do want to upgrade my panel to the touch screen one now available. Video is crisp and easy to operate from work and voice commands make it easy to arm/disarm via Siri. Looked into 2 other companies before deciding Frontpoint was my choice. -JC

    I would’ve rated this at five but when I call support to find out how to fix my motion sensor, first they put me on hold and told my whole time would be 90 minutes. Yeah they advertise this award winning 24 seven support. The app could use more troubleshooting and not just the normal things that can happen because most of us can fix that. But instead the things that sometimes happen and can slow down or stop your system.

    I absolutely love this system and devices, they have it all, to protect your home and loved ones.They have a variety of devices from indoor to outdoor, and even a doorbell camera, only issue I have is the view with the doorbell do to a brick wall being in way on one side but other than that no issues, the app runs smoothly as well , They have window alarms a 24/7 monitoring all you need is the system put in place and hook up to wifi and download the app install system and connect your devices.

    Absolutely horrible customer service. You need at least an hour to get ahold of a rep and resolve a problem. Numerous false alarms due to faulty equipment. Even worse when you cancel they force you to pay for an additional month.

    Been with Frontpoint for some six years since moving into a new home. Everything was good until this past week when I needed technical assistance on a simple matter (replacing a door sensor). No where does the app technical section provide guidance on how to cancel the old sensor and activate the new replacement sensor. Although there may be more information in the section specific to sensors - but that information doesn’t download. I’ve tried to download that information numerous times using the Frontpoint phone app, the iPad version or by logging onto the Frontpoint website. Failures follow with an amusing “oops!” with a phone number for technical assistance. But that phone number leads to a recording that asks you to leave a call back number since wait times are excessively long. I tried weekend and weekdays, early and late in the day. Same message. It’s likely not high call volume but rather lean staffing that is the problem. And a call back is not very convenient for the customer. Am I to sit by my phone and near the Frontpoint system waiting for the phone to ring? Ideally I would need to be free to take their call and near the system to take any actions needed to activate the system. Not happy with this sudden turn of events.

    I wouldn't suggest Frontpoint to anyone. The hardware for Frontpoint is not good. Takes minutes for the doorbell notification to appear on my phone. The doorbell video doesn't load majority of the time nor does it record when it's supposed to. The security panel is always at low battery. You have to verbally cancel your contract and then they will still charge you an extra 30 days after cancellation.

    This app isn't great, but even worse is the company itself and how it handles customer service. I do not recommend this company to anyone if you want reliable security. All I get is false alarms and "oh well" from customer service and now they want to charge me an extra month for cancelling.

    I've been with frontpoint for six years and it keeps getting worse. used to be able to get customer support on the line immediately, but rarely ever had to. now the opposite is true. with each app update and hardware version features are stripped away. now with the new hub I have to call tech support and wait on hold just to manage my local device setup. now with the new app I have to log on to the website to manage simple automation rules. now with the new hub my door chimes and security sensor settings are a thing of the past. I can no longer have an informational sensor that isn't linked to the alarm without manually bypassing every time I arm the panel. with only one camera positioned outdoors and set up for motion detection, video recording reaches the monthly limit and disables for the remainder of the month, typically 3 weeks into each month. there is no option to save locally. the only option is to wait until the end of the month and hope you 1) don't actually need the camera to record anthing; 2) remember to manually reactivate the recording feature next month. but you're still paying the premium rate even though the features are disabled. and homekit support was supposedly in the works four years ago. when I joined frontpoint I was very pleased. now, with each step backwards and feature removed; and utter stagnation of what remains of the platform, my patience has nearly run out.

    doesnt always work in very time consuming situations like trying to get to wrk and the panel wont arm ..or disarm ..very annoying and front point hasnt helped..also it doesnt update day to day its very slow not the best app could be better more efficient...update 10/03/2021 WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER NOBODY ANSWERS ON HOLD FOR AN HOUR MISS THEIR CALL BACK .     24 hours now with no call back for help on door bell sensor set up. Finally got everything installed yesterday. Came home last night and changed alarm to “stay” so I’m secure inside the house. Take my puppy out to use the restroom and forgot to disarm. Didn’t hear the alarm whatsoever while outside 3-5 minutes. Come inside and realize it’s going off. Missed call from an 800 number was all I got. Thank God no one was trying to break in!!! No real monitoring for those of you like me who thought I was actually getting a security system for my safety!!! Now I’ve spent 2 hours on the phone trying to understand why no one was dispatched when I set the alarm off and did not answer the 800 number to let them know it was false alarm…. It is a Saturday so now I have to wait until Monday to cancel my “service” and get refund. Unbelievable!!! Do not waste your time and money like I have! Now trying to post this review and it won’t post due to “nickname is taken” no matter what name I use lol wow

    This app is terrible I'm going to return my system. Customer service never answers the phone and I can't hook up my indoor camera. I've only had my system for 3 days I was really excited to get it but unfortunately I'm going to try a different brand.

    We have had the Frontpoint system for many years. Uneventful and therefore no issues. We get to the house tonight and the system does not disarm from my phone or my husbands. We have no choice but enter the house and trigger the alarm. No call, no monitoring. I call in & the automated system will not move me forward. It only allowed me to leave a call back number for someone to contact me tomorrow. Tomorrow?? What if we were burglars.”? Then I attempt to cancel my account and it’s like pulling teeth. No option to cancel using the automated system. A couple of years ago we had a break in and we were alerted by a neighbor. I read the reviews and have faithfully paid for at least 4 years. Yet I have no idea how long my system has gone unmonitored. We only found out now because we tripped the alarm without Frontpoint calling to check in. My advice is to trip your alarm frequently to be sure you are being monitored. Or choose another company.

    App only shows the weather doesn’t show status of home or even the icon anymore. Terrible equipment not user friendly and overall get a real security company. After my tenant moves out I’m cancelling this crap service. Waste of money. Sensors are always malfunctioning for some reason, errors since day one. I’m not sure where they are getting their near perfect reviews from. Definitely not from me. Don’t skim on money like this for security. This app confirms the reviews about jacking up the price per month after trial period is over, the option to remote control and see status of your home disappears. No wonder I can’t see the icon anymore. Garbage unethical company. Sales guy did not mention this upfront. Terrible and greedy. I am not looking foreword to the cancellation process. Sounds like from reviewers they will continue to bill you when you try to cancel. Very garbage company.

    We got the Frontpoint system back in 2017 and we are finally out of contract! We liked the system at first but after 6 months it went down hill. Our keypad constantly lagged causing us to think the keypad was not accepting our pin. This created a race to keep the alarm for going off. Additionally the doorbell cameras they provided broke 4 times over 2 years. They would miss events or just stop working all together. We wanted to cancel but they charge you 80% of your remaining contract plus an extra month service fee to cancel. It was horrible to feel stuck with a system that we knew could break or not function when we needed it to. With a few months left we decided to cancel. We are going to go with a different system. We were also afraid what kind of auto renewal we might get stuck with if we didn’t cancel. After canceling and paying all the fees, they again charged us the next month and refused to refund us. The agent told us it wouldn’t happen again and we are officially canceled. FYI you can get out if canceling by transferring to a friend or family member but I wouldn’t feel right sticking them with something I didn’t want myself.

    To many issues camera on records small clips what if you need the doorbell camera or other camera to record a longer incident possible crime that the police might need photage a crimes don't happen in. The first 30 something seconds and my camera goes hours without recording anything when I her people and cars riding by my house allday and someone suppose to called me back 3wks ago about pricing discrepancies that's a cheaper rates online for a FrontPoint and about pad that I never received

    Make sure the keypad is handy because disarming thru the app doesn’t always work. I’ve also had issues with the alarm setup not being silent - the people at FrontPoint pretty much told me I was crazy, but I could hear it and also see my dog go nuts with the noise. I’m trying to set the hub signals and can’t find the setting - I think it’s outside the app, so that makes it strange too. Other users don’t have access to the Lights. Support does not respond quickly or at all sometimes. Update for 11 months on the system - continue to have issues with the App. Freezes all the time, so I can’t set the alarm when I’m at home. I also have issues with one of the door alarms - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Spoken to multiple reps who have suggested I move the hub and I have done that with no success. Multiple times where the App is giving a different status and showing the lights the opposite of what they actually are. Not sure if the system stinks or if it’s the app.

    This app works pretty well but it has too many dead ends where the action that I want to perform isn’t in the menu. For example, I want to remove a sensor from my system instead of trying to change its batteries because it is too difficult to open. The device management menu for the sensor lists two options but removing the sensor is not one of them so I have to call support. Also, when adding a new sensor today the app said that I need to disarm the system first but it was already disarmed. That is a big thing to get right so I don’t know why the app didn’t know the correct status.

    This app isn't great, but even worse is the company itself and how it handles customer service. I do not recommend this company to anyone if you want reliable security. All I get is false alarms and "oh well" from customer service and now they want to charge me an extra month for cancelling.

    I've been with frontpoint for six years and it keeps getting worse. used to be able to get customer support on the line immediately, but rarely ever had to. now the opposite is true. with each app update and hardware version features are stripped away. now with the new hub I have to call tech support and wait on hold just to manage my local device setup. now with the new app I have to log on to the website to manage simple automation rules. now with the new hub my door chimes and security sensor settings are a thing of the past. I can no longer have an informational sensor that isn't linked to the alarm without manually bypassing every time I arm the panel. with only one camera positioned outdoors and set up for motion detection, video recording reaches the monthly limit and disables for the remainder of the month, typically 3 weeks into each month. there is no option to save locally. the only option is to wait until the end of the month and hope you 1) don't actually need the camera to record anthing; 2) remember to manually reactivate the recording feature next month. but you're still paying the premium rate even though the features are disabled. and homekit support was supposedly in the works four years ago. when I joined frontpoint I was very pleased. now, with each step backwards and feature removed; and utter stagnation of what remains of the platform, my patience has nearly run out.

    doesnt always work in very time consuming situations like trying to get to wrk and the panel wont arm ..or disarm ..very annoying and front point hasnt helped..also it doesnt update day to day its very slow not the best app could be better more efficient...update 10/03/2021 WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER NOBODY ANSWERS ON HOLD FOR AN HOUR MISS THEIR CALL BACK . THIS IS A SECURITY SERVICE UNBELIEVABLE. IM CANCELLING TODAY

    24 hours now with no call back for help on door bell sensor set up. Finally got everything installed yesterday. Came home last night and changed alarm to “stay” so I’m secure inside the house. Take my puppy out to use the restroom and forgot to disarm. Didn’t hear the alarm whatsoever while outside 3-5 minutes. Come inside and realize it’s going off. Missed call from an 800 number was all I got. Thank God no one was trying to break in!!! No real monitoring for those of you like me who thought I was actually getting a security system for my safety!!! Now I’ve spent 2 hours on the phone trying to understand why no one was dispatched when I set the alarm off and did not answer the 800 number to let them know it was false alarm…. It is a Saturday so now I have to wait until Monday to cancel my “service” and get refund. Unbelievable!!! Do not waste your time and money like I have! Now trying to post this review and it won’t post due to “nickname is taken” no matter what name I use lol wow

    This app is terrible I'm going to return my system. Customer service never answers the phone and I can't hook up my indoor camera. I've only had my system for 3 days I was really excited to get it but unfortunately I'm going to try a different brand.

    We have had the Frontpoint system for many years. Uneventful and therefore no issues. We get to the house tonight and the system does not disarm from my phone or my husbands. We have no choice but enter the house and trigger the alarm. No call, no monitoring. I call in & the automated system will not move me forward. It only allowed me to leave a call back number for someone to contact me tomorrow. Tomorrow?? What if we were burglars.”? Then I attempt to cancel my account and it’s like pulling teeth. No option to cancel using the automated system. A couple of years ago we had a break in and we were alerted by a neighbor. I read the reviews and have faithfully paid for at least 4 years. Yet I have no idea how long my system has gone unmonitored. We only found out now because we tripped the alarm without Frontpoint calling to check in. My advice is to trip your alarm frequently to be sure you are being monitored. Or choose another company.

    App only shows the weather doesn’t show status of home or even the icon anymore. Terrible equipment not user friendly and overall get a real security company. After my tenant moves out I’m cancelling this crap service. Waste of money. Sensors are always malfunctioning for some reason, errors since day one. I’m not sure where they are getting their near perfect reviews from. Definitely not from me. Don’t skim on money like this for security. This app confirms the reviews about jacking up the price per month after trial period is over, the option to remote control and see status of your home disappears. No wonder I can’t see the icon anymore. Garbage unethical company. Sales guy did not mention this upfront. Terrible and greedy. I am not looking foreword to the cancellation process. Sounds like from reviewers they will continue to bill you when you try to cancel. Very garbage company.
