Oct 5, 2020 To customize macros you will have to pay for the premium and it's pretty expensive! 19.99/monthly. I like the dark mode layout, I think the fitnesspal layout is awful but I like it better because alot of the tracking is free and unlocked for users. There's lots of free content you can access on fitnesspal. This app is missing SO many food items and no water tracking. I've been looking for an alternative for fitness pal but this is not it. Theres no widgets you can add to screen.more -
BEST Lose Fat & Gain Muscle APP👊🏻
Nov 18, 2017 This app is def made for the lazy millennial. 🙌🏻 Whether you’re trying to lose fat/gain muscle, prepping for a bodybuilding show or enjoying the doughnut life this app is 100% the BEST tool. I’ve referred it to all my clients! I calculate their macros then let the Premium FitGenie AI readjust! My clients love their results and I looooove how easy it makes it for me to focus on training! I personally struggle with coming up with creative food so the recipe guide has been so useful. The AI on the Premium honestly knows exactly what I like to eat....it’s kind of creepy but I love it! When I’m #hangry it keeps me on top of my goals. Plus the social sharing features are so pretty that I actually get excited to share my macros on social media. 😍more -
Oct 27, 2020 Id love to be able to use this but it doesn't recognise barcodes from Australia making it really inconvenient at this stage. Will come back to use this when the database includes Aussie foods -
Awesome
Oct 1, 2017 I prefer FitGenie to myfitnesspal. The in-app dietary recommendations are realistic and are sound with how evidence based science tells us to eat with respect to our goals. That, in addition to the automatic adjustments, make it more effective tool then MFP for me (may not be so for everyone though). It takes the thinking out of it and has given me slow but sustainable progress for the first time in a while. Definitely room for improvement though- one week told me to do 2100 calories of cardio a week. Not gonna happen lol. Would like to have an option on building in cardio to the calorie goals.more -
Aug 4, 2020 I've been waiting for this app to drop for so long!! I used to have an iPhone but switched to Android and I missed how simple it was to log my food and order healthy, locally sourced meals. Definitely would recommend for anyone if you're looking to count calories, track macronutrients, or get healthy delivery.more

Rechecked and still too many problems
Sep 29, 2018 I got this app when it first came out because i wanted to support the people behind its creation. It just wasn’t where it needed to be so I went back to MyFitnessPal. I decided to come back and see if it had improved. It had but not enough. Within 10min of using the app it froze. Plus I couldn’t find a way to view weekly averages for calories and macros even after searching the FAQ and google, which is something super easy to do with MFP. Lastly many of the big name brands are still not in its database. Also Since it forces you to let it design your calories I chose low-fat. I was shocked it had me on 110g of fat when i chose the low fat option. I want to like this product, but it seems to still be plagued by inadequacies. Sadly I’m going back to MFP.more -
Aug 13, 2020 Went to order meals and it doesn't recognize me address plus it tells me that it's not yet in Baltimore. I wasted money for premium to find out it's not even compatible with my area. I want a refund. -
Aug 23, 2020 Usless. You need to pay monthly/yearly subscription to unlock macro tracking. Free version has basically no features, DON'T DOWNLOAD! -
Sep 1, 2020 Less convenient than the calorie tracker that came with my phone.

Premium does not activate on multiple devices
Nov 2, 2017 I installed the app on my iPad and started a paid premium subscription (since there was the 25% off offer). The premium status doesn’t transfer to my iPhone, so I’m stuck with the non premium version on my iPhone. Contacted support, we’ll see what happens. EDIT: Supported answered in 10 minutes and they were very nice about it. It’s a bit hidden but there is a way to restore purchases, by swiping up after the “try premium” screen.more -
Always Great
May 6, 2020 I think I’ve used this app for about four years and I love it. The things I like best are listed below: 1) They will give you macro suggestions based on your goals as well as suggest changes over time, but if you don’t want to follow their plan and instead make your own, you can. 2) The food library is pretty complete. I rarely can’t find a specific item, but if I can’t, it’s so easy to add. 3) I can put it my own homemade meals, and the app will easily find them even months after I last ate them. 4) Customer service has been great. Like I said above, I’ve used this app daily for about 4 years and I think I’ve needed help twice. This last time they emailed me back within an hour or so having already fixed my issue! You should use this app.more

Great app but needs some basic features
Jan 31, 2018 Needs meal macros displayed right on home page. Needs automatic portion controlling. The fact that 30g is fixed at 1 serving of 30g doesn’t make sense. Ability to switch between oz, g etc. basic feature in other apps. Love the daily macro progress updates as you add foods - need that same feature as you add foods to an individual meal. Need ability to display Macro progress instead of calories progress by defaultmore

Oct 16, 2020 They NEED TO GET A BETTER DATABASE because there's really A LOT of food missing. Cant even find cream dory which is a very common fish where im from. I bought the app and even got it for a full year but am really dissapointed in the database. Can't believe Eric Helms recommended this.more -
Sep 15, 2020 The app is difficult to use.. I think Myfitnesspal is much user friendly and easy to customize details. It took time for me to figure out how to use it.

Sep 6, 2020 I got this app because it was advertised as a superior tracker to MyFitnessPal. I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone remotely honest could say that about the app in it's current state. This app puts behind a paywall features which MyFitnessPal has for free! While I like Eric Helms being connected to someone who puts out good information is not a excuse for something like that.more -
syncing stinks
Sep 13, 2017 Here is what they told me...FitGenie can only be used on one device at a time to keep your data secure. When switching to a new device, users must log back in to their desired account if they are not prompted to do so. All your data will be pulled in once it has successfully synced on the device you were previously logged in on. To ensure syncing is successful, exit the app on the device where you last logged entries, then reopen the app on that same device. So I have to go in and out... in and out... And it still doesn't work. Day one with the app and I'm not happy.more
What’s Groovy
I used MyFitnessPal for like 5 years religiously and I don’t really have any complaints about it. I switched to FitGenie (continuing to update both) assuming I would hate it and switch back. I stopped updating MyFitnessPal after a month of using FitGenie. It’s easy to use and my favorite feature is setting your goal and getting the weekly update with change suggestions. This is really helpful for me because I don’t have a coach or really know when to do what. So far, the weekly updates have been putting me towards my goals exactly. I also like that they get feedback and constantly make changes and add new features. I’m looking forward to more additions in the future! Thank you!

What’s Subpar
Lack of barcode support for almost everything here in Australia makes it very difficult to use. You can't create custom foods without paying for premium.
