In all other then this issue I am very happy with Fatmap. Here is the problem I have: I recently became a active Fatmap user, and I need some help with. For my prospecting trips I need to find exact location of predetermined waypoints, by specific latitude and longitude on my Fatmap setting. I realized that I have no control to do that on line setting of specific waypoint coordinate, except to drag and click. Is there a way to do it? Thanks Istvan Sabo

  • Best app for exploring outdoor terrain Jul 3, 2019

I now go into my outdoor activities much more informed, and enjoy them a lot more too. I appreciate the level of zoom detail, 3D capability, fly-over feature, Terrain Layers, and Snow Depth. Truly exceptional features. Thanks for this awesome app! It would be great to be able to overlay the Distance layer on top of the Snow Depth layer. That way I know how long I’ll be traveling over snow to get to my destination. Toggling between the two layers gives me a rough idea but is kinda cumbersome.

It's an ideal concept but sadly having to pay for an app that in rural locations doesn't have much or any data and is relying on you prospecting it for them is a bit of a cop out. Would recommend they make it a lot cheaper or even free until they have enough data there to actually support this product as their end goal is great they've just not built a good road to get there.

  • Some easy fixes would help Jan 3, 2019

I use it to orient myself to new ski areas before I arrive or maybe after a day or two, and it can be great for that. One huge annoyance: when you press a ski run to see its name and get info, the entire view reorients itself - I guess so you can see the entire run from an angle the developers like. Super annoying to have to re-orient the map manually each time I highlight a run. Makes me afraid to highlight a run at all Please fix this!

Exceptionaly superior to any other maps including Garmin . I've tried many over the years this is by far the best. Worth every penny. Offline maps works smoothly without any reception

I have been trying to download an offline map for 2 days . Most places we visit don't have cell coverage so the offline access is a must . This is a waste of money , I will be contacting them about a refund . The features when you have cell service are okay but there is more focus on the articles, advertising and social media then on the actual maps . I guess as long as you can tell the world that your being active it doesn't matter if the mapping is weak . :(

  • Good start but needs route discovery Jul 9, 2018

I use Gaia Maps and Maplets (and Google Maps)- all these apps serve a distinct purpose. Unfortunately, this app does deserve the phone memory. On an iPhone SE the UI is a little choppy. This app is like Google Earth, it doesn’t really add any value beyond that for me. And being old fashioned, 2D topo maps are just fine to use when exploring outside. So what does this app need? I could see something like this being popular once AR is more widespread, but what it’s missing is everything else needed in backcountry navigation like layer support, trail names, route tracking, the ability the effortlessly find new trails.

  • Horrible business mode that screwed over past users Nov 27, 2019

I was so excited when I first found this app and started using it. It was great. There were some features you could use for free: Downloadable Maps Limited overlays Etc. And there were some features that you could access once you purchased a membership. Until recently, I used this app regularly for scouting my trips into the back country. Then, in the latest major update this company decided that they would require the membership for most of the previously free features like overlays and downloadable maps. It’s absolutely disgusting when companies offer some features for free for a long time and then all the sudden decide to make those features paid features. I was going to buy the membership until they pulled this horrible business decision to screw over it’s past users.

Used to be good, now mandatory registration. Shouldn't be too hard to understand why people don't want to login for a map, so instead of asking users for their input just remove that nuisance. I'd pay for it, but I'm not signing up. Uninstalled.

Great application and service, great idea in general. However... With latest version you are for forced to be registered user in order to use application. Additionally it seems like developers are eager to push profits creating one more social network. No new social network is needed, really. I don't like this new development directions. I need a map, not social network and another account. App removed.

Being in the mountains all the time, you realize how helpful and safe it is to have a plan of where you are going, where you are sleeping, and how you can get out. FATMAP helps with all of those. It’s like being able to hold the world in your hand and look into any tiny piece of detail before you get there. It’s great

  • Nice update Jun 10, 2018

I am mostly interested in this app to plan backcountry ski tours and the last update fixed the glitches when downloading terrain and slope gradient layers. It’s pretty neat to be able to pan around in 3D with the slope gradient overlay. It would be even better with slope data over the topo layer similiar to caltopo.

  • Uhm, can’t subscribe Aug 31, 2018

I’d sign up to test for a month but I can’t. When I select “subscribe”, pop up shows me middle of page and I can’t scroll up or down to go thru sign up process. You don’t give me much confidence that this will work when I’m deep on a trail and need to figure out my way.

I used this app in January and February and it was brilliant. However, now it is requiring signing in either by creating an account or Facebook credentials. Too bad. Why did you do that? Several people are fed up with this social networking and cannot be bothered with yet another account.

I’ve loved this app / map and have been using all season long-however today’s update isn’t allowing me to look at maps in the US. It keeps saying “we detected a problem in your last session, the map has been moved to a safe location”. Super frustrating as I’m trying to find runs.
