There's no need to travel 100 miles when you can discover a lake 10 miles from your home. If you use the "lake contours" feature, you will be able to find just what you need. It works on and offline, both from your smartphone and desktop computer.

I have tried to use this app from time to time and it has some nice maps but I’m continually frustrated with it. I,was using just now on my iPad and it would not hold the same location as I switched from one map to another. Also, it used to be possible to I port public domain maps, of which there much be thousands out there, into your device. But no longer. It seems very limited to me.

One of the main reasons I love this app is the National Geographic map. It is a map that shows a whole lot of creeks, streams, and other permanently flowing waterways that are missing or totally lacking on basic road maps such as Google, Bing and the like. Remember folks you can only survive two or three days tops without water. No real since in dying of thirst and you're only 1/3 of a mile from a watercourse you never knew was there.

I am new to ArcGIS & online mapping. Having worked under grants from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation (CPF) - Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) for past 8 years mapping Indian trails, town sites, historical geography, etc, into Google Earth Pro and the old Nat Geo TOPO! programs, I was invited to create a series of online ESRI Story Maps for the Tribe & public. The GIS department head encouraged me explaining the simplicity using ESRI templates. A mostly “help/tutorials” crash course in Arc Desktop and ESRI Story Maps one year later, I am preparing to demonstrate my still-primitive web maps and Story Map series to Tribal Elders, teachers, and the CPF BOD. No good way on an iPhone in sketchy mountain country here near the Great Smokies. I stumbled on the Explorer in Apple App Store in bed the other night and opened my web maps. Incredible! Fast, beautiful, and historic trails, Cherokee towns, mounds, ancestral place names, tagged + I discovered the popups displayed media photos and historic map details. Some maps gave me the “Z” error also. Could have been the ghost of Zorro? I can use this app as a “cultural GPS” on historical field trips with the Cherokee people and the public. I can’t seem to get a shortcut icon on my iPhone screen yet. Keep this going. We ArcGIS neophytes with limited GIS skills need this. Any advice appreciated. I loved this app the way that it was before they updated it, since then there have been a few problems. Occasionally, it cannot find the coordinates that I add in, but the larger problem is that when I add coordinates IT DOES NOT GO TO THEM! You have to then zoom out and out and out until you find the little dropped point (which is your coordinate that you just put in) and then you have to zoom in and in and in to get back to the spot. If they fixed that, I would enjoy it a lot more and recommend it to other people!

It’s pretty good but it does have one major glaring bug. If you just download it for the first time for testing purposes and wind up on a map that requires signing in. Just forget it. The only way you can get the program to run is if you uninstall it and reinstall it from the store. I discovered once you’re on the logon screen there is no way to back out.

simply an amazing company. speaking without professional experience per se, as a lay person who has interest in geographical information systems and so on I am astounded by the information within the map layers alone. invaluable. that is only what one can do with data that others have collected and posted online, not even considering what you can do by collecting your own data. whether you are a surveyor or own a shipping company, theres something for you in GIS and ESRI owns the competition.

Works great with mmpk files. However when I'm in the woods or rural area with no cell service, it still tries to go out to AGO to get sample maps and doesn't load, which makes offline maps pointless. Please fix: when I choose continue without signing in, don't try to connect to AGO.

Crashes a bit.. Some of my outside agency served and personal maps won't load or display. Known addresses fail in search and can't be geolocated in the app, but Google and others have no problem. Says can download maps for offline use, but no provision to do so. Testing to use as GIS, SAR, and emergency management tool, but varies widely in response, ability, and function.

There is an error with iOS13, this software, and IWA. This is a known bug that had been reported to Esri. Our fieldworkers rely on this software as part of our enterprise GIS, with the move to iOS 13 they can no longer use this tool. There was a public beta in June, why can a company of this size not ensure their software works with enterprise solutions. Your customers are not your beta testers Esri!

After the login with the ArcGIS online credentials, I try to open a map within a group but when I click on the map item it ask again the ArcGIS online credentials... so I fill in with the same credentials but login at this point is not working anymore, so I can't see the map. I hope it will be fixed asap, till 2 weeks ago everything was working fine.

Their old app did better. This one says it can't display shapes with no Z values. Doesn't give a clue how to give the shape Z values. Mine does have Z (elevation) values, but apparently not recognizable by the app. This is probably a bug. Or they need to do a lot of work on this thing.

Why is my weblinked csv file that show us just fine on arcgis online come up as an unsupported file type on this app? This is literally the simplest thing a gis software can do - display dots on the map. Why is ESRI stuck in the stone ages with their platform? Why are there 17 apps in the Google play app store and none of them are really that useful? My team hates using these products, which forces me to use Google maps and other products. ESRI had a head start by decades on MapBox and others but those guys know how to innovate and are going to keep eating your lunch.
