Been fighting a cold/allergies for a few days after my children started it last week. Kids are Notorious for this stuff. Especially at summer camp or classrooms when there’s a million other kids around so it was nothing out of the ordinary, although i got a bit nervous. I left work because I have been feeling like crap and didn’t want to expose my coworkers. I didn’t feel like making an appointment for a test at all so I asked a pharmacist “what is a good at home Covid test” because im fairly private. After the recommendation I bought it out of my own pocket without taking the rapid through insurance or my veteran benefit. This is mostly because I wanted to have it and only me see the results. $48. It was worth it. It came back negative as I thought it should since this has happened a bunch before with small kids. If my symptoms persist or get worse. I will go to a urgent care clinic but if you do this test right and follow the simple instructions I’m sure it will work just fine for you. I recommend it. I’m not paid or anything I just follow instructions well and most of these comments are most likely people not reading the leaflet or paying attention to what they’re doing when they’re ridiculously simple instructions. Just read everything and I have a feeling this test is accurate. Unless I feel worse tomorrow. Lol

There are a lot of steps to this test. But it comes with amazing instructions and videos so that you can't mess up! 5-7 minutes for prep and test. 15 minutes for your results. Fantastic!! As long as you follow the instructions, then you'll get accurate results. The dual nasal swab is not comfortable. But neither is waiting 4 hours at Medac with 20 other sick people. Ha! This is 100% better.

I see all the complaints but mine worked fine. Some things to keep in mind: Phone MUST be at or above 20% battery charge during the testing process. DO NOT close the app during the testing phase. Phone calls MUST be answered on speaker. I was negative btw. Stay safe!

Test worked perfectly. My advice to people is not to rush. Listen carefully to the ENTIRE VIDEO BEFORE starting the test. Start out calm and be deliberate with everything you do. Also, I don't know if it had any effect, but I took my phone out of its protective case so I could lay it flat on the counter. I also made sure there were no other Bluetooth devices that were on anywhere close to my phone. I had to use this test because the results of my free test from Walgreens came back as unusable.

I had no problems with the app or the test itself. I followed instructions and made sure everything was checked off before I began and got my results just the way they explained I would. Since this is purely based on the app I'll give it 5 stars but the price of the test seems high. Not sure I would get it again over the cheaper alternative.

Easy to use ($$) - I came up negative and husband came up with a confirmed false positive, as we managed to get a PCR test done the same day- both confirmed negative. The PCR test then took 2 days to get back and cost me 2 days of sick time at work (I only get 3 sick days per year.) We isolated too. I find it wasteful and inconvenient that this test requires an app and a plastic device that has to get thrown out each use. (Ovulation test kits have ONE device with insertion for multiple uses.)

I have taken the vaccine for COVID-19. But I wasn’t feeling well with a sore throat and body aches. My whole family was in the same boat. So I decided to take the test. Negative were the results for my family and I. My son went to see the doctor and he was told that he had a common cold due to allergies. I’m in the same boat. The test was correct, worked as advertised and had easy to follow instructions. The only part of the test that is disheartening is all the information you have to give in the beginning. As for the false positives that was given to the other reviewers, even the professional CV-19 testers give false positives and false negatives. Nothing is perfect in this world. If it were, I wouldn’t have an ex wife.

The test & app worked fine with no problems. The test is expensive, & based on the negative reviews there should be 2 swabs/vials included in case the first one gets an error. Also, are you just supposed to throw away the detector, which is electronic? Your company should find a way to make this reusable so people don't have to go purchase another test if the first doesn't work out.

First, I really appreciate that the developers actually respond to reviews, instead of leaving an automated message. And the instructions are very thorough, and I'm grateful for the discomfort warning. That being said, why did this have to connect to your phone, instead of a little display like a digital thermometer or a pregnancy test? I feel like that just makes it unnecessarily more complicated.

Everything worked well. Made sure I followed every step and made sure to wash my hands before used and to not touch the tip of the test so I wouldn't mess up My results. I like how the cap is a stopper so you know how far in your nose to go. The cost is a bit much for one test I agree but it works.

Purchased the ellume test today from my local CVS. Followed the directions to a tee and then received an error message. After calling the company and waiting about 20 min, I was told, btw, it is better to swab more than the test tells you. So, my error code was lack of specimen. They are processing a refund, but will take 3 weeks to do so. In the mean time, I am out $40 and no test result. Very poor customers service. The rep was nice enough, but there should be a method for faster replacement.

$40+ and after carefully following instructions it gave me an error. I'm a scientist so following simple protocols is part of my job. The fact that no additional reagents are included in the kit (only 1 run) is not ideal. I'd recommend other rapid tests that are cheaper and come in 2 packs instead of this.
  • Don’t Be Naive Aug 15, 2021

I grabbed the test because it was the only option at CVS. I was disappointed to see that you have to download the app to receive your test results. The app steals personal and private information from you. You can choose to leave certain boxes blank, but don’t be fooled— they retrieve a lot of info from your phone. Check their privacy policy online— it’s no good at all. I wouldn’t trust your test result. I tested negative, and was it accurate? Who knows. If it were a false negative, it would be easy for the company to say that I, as the user, administered it incorrectly. For $40+ a test, your results should be more reliable. From what I’m reading, people have had horrible experiences using the app. For me, everything worked perfectly. The Bluetooth connected immediately, the video and instructions were clear, and the tools were easy to use. Everything was visually appealing and straightforward. I gave two stars because it’s a great concept on paper. I just wish there was more transparency, accountability, and consideration for the consumer.

What a joke! Someone at work supposedly got the flu. You know… the huge pandemic we are going through… LOL. What a joke this is though god I hate our government. ANYWAYS, I knew I had no contact with my diseased coworker but to make my family feel better and for peace of mind I bought this test. Ya you guessed it it said I had COVID 19. So my mom was like omg omg omg. And I was like chill mom I feel really good right now I haven’t been sick in forever if ever. And it wanted me to put all my personal information in too ya right…. This was like 45 bucks too keep in mind. Ya so it said I had COVID 19 and that I was going to die. So I ran to Walgreens and bought that one that comes with 2. Both said negative. DO NOT BUY THIS I FEEL LIKE I WAS ROBBED. In so many ways too because now I have to go to the hospital and make sure(I guess who knows what they are up to) and get documented. I hope they don’t give me any drugs or stick that tube down my throat. That will probably end me for sure. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS TEST. This test may have very well killed me. DO NOT BUY GET THE REGULAR ONE LIKE I WOULD HAVE IF IT WAS AT CVS BUT IT WASNT AND I DIDNT FEEL LIKE GOING TO WALGREENS BUT I HAD TO ANYWAY THANKS ALOT DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY
  • Pick any other test Aug 31, 2021

This test is clearly just a data grabbing scam. I should have read reviews before using it. My 3 year old came down with a cough and fever so we decided to use this test my parents had on hand. It came out positive and needless to say caused us a ton of anxiety. We tested him again using a different at home test about an hour later which came back negative. After that we brought him to the pediatrician who confirmed he was negative the following day. After reading many other reviews on several websites I realized that many many other people have received false positives using this test. No other test needs to use the Bluetooth on your phone to give you at home test results. It’s expensive, inaccurate and clearly it’s main purpose is to grab data off your phone. I’m mad at myself for not realizing this before I downloaded the app. We spent almost 24 hours scared that our little boy had Covid because this test was wrong - even though it boasts a 96% accuracy rate. Do yourself a favor and pick literally any other test before this one!

After not being able to find a BinaxNow test, which people I know have tried and liked the test, I decided to give Ellume a try. App would not connect to test analyzer and it said the battery for the analyzer was low (first reason not to buy, it relies on a battery), luckily I had the type of battery needed and I replaced it. Because I had to switch out the battery and start the process over again I had to sit and watch the entire overview video again (2nd reason not to buy), there’s no option to skip. Finally made it through the tutorial video for the 2nd time and turned on the analyzer with new battery I had to provide, it seemed to be working, got to the 2nd screen and of course the Bluetooth could not connect (3rd reason to not buy). I messed with it for over an hour trying different devices, watching the tutorial over and over again, and still nothing. What a waste of time, money and no customer support. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!

I tried to get a quick test on my way to visit family… this app forced me to allow location tracking, notifications, bluetooth, just to take the test! They also forced me to watch videos and give away a bunch of personal info. ***NONE of this was not optional! They are actually using a global pandemic to shamelessly harvest the data of Americans at their most vulnerable. After following every step, the app said “analyzing” for over 45 minutes before I had to turn it off to preserve my phone battery. No result, no info on my test ever came. There’s more… this app is four times as expensive as other self-tests and takes at least twice as long to administer. I got a Binax test later that night and had my result within 15 mins of opening the box. There is an argument to be made that going to an urgent care is a more convenient way to test for COVID than using this company. I have no idea how they are allowed to sell this product SAVE YOUR MONEY! MAKE THE DRIVE TO ANOTHER STORE IF THIS IS THE ONLY TEST AVAILABLE!
  • Another False Positive… Aug 31, 2021

    By HeyJudeF4
I work in the school system so I’m around a ton of people all the time. I’m vaccinated and had Covid in January, but last week I started feeling the exact symptoms I remembered… I rushed to the store and bought this, trying to avoid urgent care testing lines, and didn’t read the reviews first. I followed directions precisely. Sure enough, this home test says I’m positive, over $40 later. So to the urgent care I go anyway! Rapid test comes back negative, but they offer to do the PCR “just in case.” While I’m waiting, I finally read through all these terrible reviews about false positives, but wanted to wait for the “official” test results before adding my own complaint. Sure enough, my test results came back negative for Covid today- rapid and PCR confirming. I should never have wasted my money on this, even though it was the last available home test. It was more worth my time to wait in line at the urgent care. Stay away from this product.

Traveling to Mexico next week. Local doctors charge $260 USD for PCR test. Saw this information on my airlines site. I have taken the Abbot BinaxNow test and always had accurate results . So I didn’t blink an eye with purchasing this test from Elume . Dang …. I wish I had read the reviews on this app before making this purchase. The MANY reviews of False Positive results speaks volumes and does portray this product in a positive light. It’s very concerning that these reports are all recent; in recent days . My trip to Mexico will be short . In preparation I have been quarantined. In addition I test regularly. I couldn’t imagine experiencing being on vacation and receiving a False positive test . I WILL be canceling the video monitoring that I just scheduled. I WILL be telling the rest of my group NOT to buy this . Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. The MANY reports of False positives is not a good look for this product .

I wish I could give zero stars. This product is a SCAM!! Please don’t waste your time and money. I can’t believe they would put a product out there that does NOT work. This test gave me a false positive, I went the next day to get a real test done and it came back negative. I contacted the company to get my money back and they have still not responded. This product is tricking people!! Imagine people who believed it and didn’t go to get a real test done. The product is the worst. And I read the reviews before trying but I didn’t listen, I wanted to give it a second chance. But no, it’s exactly like those other reviews say. Don’t buy it. EDIT: They responded to my review telling me to contact them (even though I already did) and they asked me to answer a bunch of questions and I sent it all to them. Since I sent it they STILL have not responded to me!! DO NOT BUY THIS TEST!! IT WILL GIVE YOU A FALSE POSITIVE AND THEN THE COMPANY WILL IGNORE YOU

  • Great test, but mandatory video is annoying Sep 1, 2021

    By IAmAKat
Before I get to the part where I complain, I’d like to say this is a great test. Best accuracy by far out of the home tests, and a clear/smooth/easy experience taking the test. If someone asked me about COVID-19 home tests, this is definitely the one I’d recommend. The test does ask for my name/address/date of birth (so positive tests can be reported to public health agencies) but it’s no more information than I’d be asked to give if I went and did a test at an urgent care. The privacy policy on their website doesn’t look creepy, they don’t seem to be using that data for marketing/tracking/anything nefarious. My only major complaint is that I wish the app could remember that I’ve used it before. When testing regularly, I’d prefer not to have to enter my data again every time, and that mandatory video gets more and more annoying every time I watch it. To the developers - please add an option for repeat users to skip the video. PLEASE. I can almost recite it back to you verbatim at this point, I don’t need to watch it again…
  • Great experience and would recommend Sep 6, 2021

I don’t usually write reviews for apps but after seeing some very negative reviews of this product I thought I would offer my review. I found this test to be very easy to use. The instructions are quite specific. And the required video is not very long and is informative. The app then takes you through each individual step. It is not an inexpensive test but considering the components and the cost of bringing something like this to market I found it reasonable. I was fortunate that I could use my Flexible Spending Account to make the purchase.I have already recommended this kit to a neighbor.

  • Easy to administer + results in 15 minutes Aug 8, 2021

    By bdafsc
As community infirmarian, I was asked to administer the test to one of my confreres. The test kit was handed to me, so I did not know its retail price beforehand. I agree with a fellow reviewer that the test required the patient’s name, telephone number, physical and email addresses. If the test had been for me, I may have hesitated to provide the same. The video and stepwise instructions were clear and easy to follow, to be sure, but the packaging could have included a few more upfront information to help customers make an informed decision. What is unknown concerns the accuracy of results. But the product offers excellent portability and convenience.

Neat technology - the kit's analyzer interfaces w/a smart phone. ....sometimes. The analyzer wouldn't connect to my 6" phone. Turns out the bluetooth antenna is @ the Bottom of my phone. Signal from the analyzer needs to be stronger. It wouldn't connect when adjacent to the top of my phone. Problem #2: it doesn't seem the analyzer can be turned off. This is no good if you're looking for a compatible phone, worried that the analyzers battery may die. Neat kit, needs improvement.

This test worked fine, Bluetooth wasn't an issue. Disconnect from your other devices before using. My real problem with this test is it is obviously a personal information grab. To pay 40 bucks and to aquire my personal data including cell number, address and email when I can do it anonymously elsewhere is shameful. Next time, if you want something valuable like my email address, give me the test for free at least.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY Paid $40 for a test, I meticulously followed the instructions exactly as detailed, and was given an ERROR CODE 20 with no results. Oh, but it gets better. They tell you to use another test and try again, that's right, they want you to spend $40 more for another test that mat or may not work. Want to get in touch with them? Sorry, better try them Monday - Friday, 9 - 5 or you're just out of luck. Absolutely unethical and abysmal.
