  • Major bug with prior app update fixed Mar 24, 2019

It’s back to working well. Kind of annoying you can’t just land on the scale like before, but at least it’s working as it should again.

I love this app so much. It makes choosing a recipe hard (they all look so good, I'm drooling just thinking about it) but once you're able to choose it's so easy to make anything, they walk you through step by step and even the timer are built in. I've really enjoyed using this app to broaden my cooking!! I don't have any of the appliances.. yet, but I hope to add the drop scale to my kitchen collection soon!

I found out about this app through a show on Prime about Irish innovations/innovators. I was so impressed & intrigued by it's concept of exploring recipes, simple choice options, exposure to different chefs with resources to healthier eating. Thank you for this cool app that helps to create the shopping list, gives guidance, steps to accomplish recipes and more. Thanks, again!

Not much use if you have instant pot and a vegetarian. Every recipe was for chicken.
  • I just want to weigh things. Jun 1, 2018

    By A2Square
We bought the Drop scale for bread making, where weight of ingredients can be crucial. We thought phone/tablet integration would be a nice feature since our old digital scale readout went wonky. BUT THIS APP IS BLOATED AND IRRELEVANT. We don't need your recipes (far better recipe apps exist). We don't want to create an account just to measure out ingredients. We just want to use the expensive Drop scale that we purchased!!! Please bring back a scale-only app so we can do that. Or publish an API so someone else can do it.

I tried using this for my Panasonic microwave oven. The app listed 74 recipes for it. However, when I looked at the recipes, none of them used the microwave. Most used a skillet or a regular oven.

In my GE smart home app, it said my stove was compatible with this app, so I installed it. Now, any time I try and open a recipe that uses my oven, the app crashes! The interface is ok, and the recipes all look good, it gets a star for that. It has the same interface as the instant pot app, so I assume they use the same codebase. No idea who to contact for support, could be GE, Drop, Instant Pot, etc.

  • Never buy their scale. Or anything else. Mar 22, 2019

    By Thempotts
I bought a scale. To use as a scale. They discontinued the app I used to use the scale and force you to use a different app with unwanted features. To weigh something it takes a good twenty seconds to actually click through to get to the scale and actually have it connect. Now they are forcing you to create an account and give them your email. To use a scale. I need to create an account and give them my email to use my scale.

  • Love this App. Mar 2, 2020

I have a Thermomix and I especially love the recipes in the Drop App. There are so many great choices and I really appreciate that the recipes have been developed by Tenina, who really is a master at using all the features of the Thermomix machine. The step by step instructions and photos are super helpful. It really is a 5 star app.

Tbh I had to look for the app as it's not bang on my desktop. In my defence l would say that I prefer to use the emails to get info. I maybe an unusual customer since my shopping starts not with a recipe but a slot in a confused schedule, by which I mean I am not master of my cook-life. Any more detail will be superfluous but I am a fan though not a super deluxe one as I have other values on my time. Take care

Received my Drop as a Christmas gift and love everything about it-especially the ability to adjust number of servings!! The only improvement I could suggest would bethe ability to upload my own recipes.

Looks good. Works. Intuitive. And the staff is great about working on creating new things all the time. Five stars when it's easier to import/export recipes and create your own.

  • Improvements are needed Dec 29, 2014

I bought Drop because I needed a new scale. The scale works well, but the app could be improved. I agree with other comments about needing organization and the ability to add your own recipes. Also, the recipes that are there need a QA review and a review by an experienced baker. The recipe I tried uses an absurd amount of bowls and tools, and they don’t actually match the up front images. So far, I think I would have been just as happy with a separate, cheaper digital scale and a different recipe app.

  • Mixed feelings Nov 18, 2014

    By scottjl
I pre-ordered Drop months ago, finally got my scale. The scale is simple, and works, but has no display. You must use it with an iPad. No iPhone compatibility, though it is in the works. Someday. The recipe app is pretty, like Pinterest, but lacks any organizational abilities at all. Have some favorites? Remember their names, because you'll need to search to find them again. Some you don't like and don't want to see? Can't block those out. Can't organize recipes into your own categories, can't export or print them either, no way to share. It's a good first attempt at an application, but needs a lot more useful features. At this point I am better off with a $10 digital scale and any $5 cookbook app. I hope the Drop team has a lot more in store for buyers, or mine will end up in the cabinet of unused kitchen gadgets. 😱

  • Great scale and concept but the app needs a lot of work Jan 6, 2015

    By Salak
Really do love the scale and the overall concept. I can understand how much it takes to get a product out the door from concept to shelves but the app is essentially in beta stage. The scale works as advertised and is really well designed outside of the on/off function is a little hit or miss. They did a great job with the overall product. I concur with other reviewers concerning the lack of organization with the recipes. It's essentially a bunch of recipes thrown together. You can't favorite a recipe or remove one, along with not being able to upload one. One of the biggest disappointments is the fact that one of the selling points was the ability to scale recipes with the ingredients that you have. That feature isn't even live yet in the app, yet they advertise like it is. I would say that's pretty much false advertising. Overall I like the potential Drop has but need to see many improvements in the app. Once that happens I will update my review.

  • No custom recipes Feb 28, 2015

    By gjunkie
It's a great concept, and the scale works perfectly. But there's still no way to add your own recipes. We bake and cook every meal and yet we use the $100 scale almost exclusively for weighing coffee in the mornings. If I knew you couldn't add your own I wouldn't have purchased it. If you won't allow people to add their own with a $100 accessory, you better have thousands of recipes. Which it does not.

  • Can't leave the app or it loses your spot! Mar 7, 2015

    By Boilermish
Was disappointed to find when I had an hour rise time on some bread and launched another app, that Drop lost my place in the recipe. I thought with the timer going it would run in the background and keep my place. Now I have to annoyingly click thru to the place I was at in the recipe to finish the bread. Not sure I'll be keeping this thing.

  • Working with the Apple Watch would make it truly functional! Aug 8, 2017

    By Rockynewf
Why would I add another device while I cook? This requires your iPad or iPhone to see the scale. It's fiddly to switch around if you make a recipe from another app. It needs to function with the Apple Watch to avoid juggling devices!
