  • Fun but app could be a bit better for dashers Mar 11, 2020

    By Minerguy1987
I like the extra $ and it’s a decent gig but I feel that door dash shouldn’t allow the customer to do a no tip. I get them quite often from the same customers and I’m always on time or earlier. Make sure they have extra sauces. Napkins. Etc and I’m always polite and still get nothing from it. Dashers drive their own personal cars to make sure the customer gets their food and we use our own gas to make it happen. 3$ a trip isn’t worth delivering to people ordering 40-60$ of food and we have to go the extra mile for nothing basically. I feel that door dash can implement something on if you order either a lot of food and or a high price amount then the customer is required to tip. Also regarding if a store is indefinitely closed. They should make it easier to know what button to click to say you can’t do the order and not be docked acceptance because it not being your fault. If you click stores closed it should prompt you to say is it closed or closed indefinitely and then take you to the proper area if it’s indefinitely. Other than that. I’ll continue to do this as a side gig because it’s not hard and easy $. Also I think door dash should do a rewards program on for every order you do you get points to get door dash merchandise to help with deliveries either it be better bags. Drink holders. Shirts. Etc. Would boost people to push for helpful items and or personal merchandise.

There are a lot of things I like about DoorDash. The opportunity, convenience, & ability to serve & help others who can’t get for themselves. But...From my very first order it seems I was set up for failure. Being sent to restaurants that often were as much as 10 min behind on an order being ready. More than half of those instances I was late delivering as I walked out of the restaurant or soon after. This is especially the case with double orders. Which means from the start I’ve had a low “on time” score. Not ok. Your algorithm for this stinks. Next. If a customer cancels an order after I accept it, or the restaurant cancels for some reason, it most definitely should NOT count as an incomplete on my score. Yet this is happening. Lastly. I’ve seen a lot of young dashers with friends and/or significant others in the car as company to hang out with while they dash. I’ve even had restaurant owners say something to me. I was under the impression this was frowned upon for safety reasons. But especially now..dashers should be warned against doing this since it violates the 6ft rule and puts your customers at risk. I’ve had quite a few restaurants in my area tell me this is a concern. These things above make those of us trying hard to do a good job look bad. As for the rest. The app is great. It’s an awesome opportunity. You asked for my opinion though so I’m being honest. I haven’t had a bad review on my service yet.

I’ve been Dashing for 8 months and I really enjoy meeting new people on my deliveries. The app is fairly easy to start you out, but there are a lot of little things that you learn as you go. Contact numbers are provided if you require assistance. You have opportunities to sponsor new drivers to help them learn, and you’re rewarded generously when they complete a certain number of deliveries. I feel it’s very safe because all transactions are done on line...no cash with the driver, and your earnings go straight into your banking account once a week. If you prefer, you can opt to be paid daily, but there is a small fee for that. I use Google maps to assist in my deliveries, and there are a couple other map apps that are available to you. With the Covid virus-DD will provide you with free face masks, hand sanitizer, and sanitary gloves upon request, and you can do ‘No Contact Delivery’ so you and your customers stay as safe as possible. The best part about this job is that YOU chose when you want to work. If you have scheduled yourself to work, and then you can’t do it, you can delete that dash and you are NOT penalized for backing out. If you are in the middle of a scheduled dash, and need/want a break, you can PAUSE without having to explain to your boss, like you would at just about ANY other job. This flexibility they give you is WONDERFUL!

EDIT Since the new updates the app has worked a little better. Now as of 9/2020 the app has issue with Google maps.. Also when I call a customer for some reason I can hear them, but I cannot hear them. Very FUSTRATING. The app is constantly not pick up my location. Which prolongs when I get my next order. I have to wait for them to clear it. As of April 24 , 2020 this app has not worked. This is the second day I have not been able to work at my schedule time. This is very distracting.

Then I entered it correctly, but they froze my fast pay for a week, so now I'm stuck waiting for a week to dash cuz I need a new alternator! If there was a security issue with my pay, I WOULD CONTACT YOU DOORDASH!!

In the beginning the app was working great. You had deliveries and time slots the app worked great but ever since they did an update to make it better for us it just went very bad after that the app won't work hard to connect to its platform then you would miss delveries it won't be your fault cause you won't see it just the missed delivery. This app is garbage now. You won't make anything. I wasmakeing 4 to 500 a wk now almost 2 if that. Not worth it youll waste time and money.

  • Dasher support is awful. Scheduling feedback Jul 4, 2020

    By Alfunions
First of all, Dasher support is atrocious. 9/10 times they don't actually help us because they don't listen or there's a language barrier. They don't understand how the app works. They lack basic customer service skills and only frustrate us more. Second, why is it that I couldn't reset my claimed time to have an hour less? I scheduled myself earlier in the week for 10am - 8:30pm today. Since last night, I have been trying to change it to 11am - 8:30pm but it will not allow me despite already having that time claimed. I wanted to give up an hour, not get more hours. I should be allowed to do that even if "the time slot is no longer available" because I was already apart of that time slot. It doesn't make sense. I understand that no one else can schedule at that time for more hours but I should be allowed to take time off of my schedule since it's already claimed. It's not like this hour is even worth dashing in (10am-11am). Finally, the text service is ridiculous. I am bombarded with texts for absolutely every order when I already get a notification from the app itself. As drivers, this text system is distracting and over done. I wish we could opt out of order texts and just received the rest without opting out of texts completely. We need to be able to communicate with our customers but don't need your text service distracting us while we drive. I received 30 texts in 2 hours yesterday. That's nuts.

Needs alot of improvement.. dashers need to know the distance and be able to see the drop off address BEFORE accepting the order . On the acceptance screen it should show the distance from the pick up to the drop-off location and it should also show the address of the drop-off location as well so a dasher can decide BEFORE they accept the order of they even want to go to that area or not . It gets annoying when u get a $5 order and you have to take it over 10 miles to the drop-off location.

  • Honestly, it depends where you live Dec 7, 2019

    By jcaudld
Okay, I’ll start off by saying, this app can either be so great you can do it full time, or the opposite. Obviously, like UberEats and other driving services, if you don’t live in a populated area you can’t do it. Not that well anyways. But if you happen to live somewhere where the app is popular and you can get a lot of orders, believe me when I say you can make $1000+ a week if you are dedicated to it every week. No, I don’t think you should replace your full time job with it if you have a decent job. However, if you’re 18-21 years old working fast food making minimum wage, this app is the way to go. It has its flaws, but overall I’ve had a great experience with it. Customer support is a bit touchy as their English isn’t great and they’re hard to reach sometimes, but don’t listen to people who say they’re garbage. I would give this app 10/5 stars if I could. I’m considering replacing my pizza delivery job with this. I average $16-$20/ hour and I only work 4-8 hours a day. You can work whenever you want, stop whenever you want, you are your own boss, and you can basically just listen to music and vibe all day. This app is great

  • Screw that other review Apr 26, 2020

    By jajones12147
The other review of this app is so incredibly petty and inaccurate. I am a driver as well and I also use the app, some people don’t have enough to afford to tip and have no other option but delivery at any given time, I don’t understand why that person pretends to know everyone’s personal lives well enough to judge when they don’t tip. WE ARE NOT ENTITLED TO GRATUITY THATS WHY ITS CALLED THAT YOU MORON. Don’t complain about not getting one EVER, especially when the app automatically assumes you want to tip 20% of the order which is absolutely ridiculous. Nothing makes people want to tip you LESS than when you shove it in their face like it’s some customary part of the order. But then again, I’m sure people tip the automatic 20% because they feel PRESSURED BY THE APP because it chooses this for you and it makes people think “well if I don’t tip, then I won’t get good service”. That’s not how this work, do a good job and maybe you’ll get a few extra dollars. Other than that, quit whining living off tips when we all know that’s a lie.

  • My Experiences as a Doordash Driver Sep 11, 2020

    By Conscientious Driver
While dashing I hate it when I see “you missed an opportunity”. I tell myself, how could I have missed when it’s not even offered to me. Sometimes these “you missed an opportunity” shows in succession, like three in a row in a matter of seconds. Does Doordash intentionally do that? I am an optimistic person so when I see “you missed an opportunity” I just smile and tell myself “here we go again, there goes my acceptance rate, it’s going to go down now. I work very hard and I’m dedicated to my job so I always try my best to satisfy my employer and my customers all the time. I have been dashing for three months now, I haven’t declined an offer yet, I always accept whatever I’m offered. Sometimes though, there are offers that I had to pick up from about 11 miles away then deliver it way to the end of town, about another 15 miles. I just tell myself, it’s a normal part of the job so I don’t complain at all. I must commend the “Doordash Support Team”, they’re always there for me. Every time I get into a situation where I needed their assistance, they’re there and always are willing to help. One time though, I had to wait almost 20 minutes before someone offered to help me. The majority of the time, there’s someone within three minutes.

Since the pandemic, Doordash has been a lifesaver in supplementing my lost income. While I generally enjoy my experiences with Doordashing, there are improvements I feel could be made. I wish you could view the area heat map while you're still dashing. Plus, I wish challenges would display while you are dashing. Aside from those transparency issues, my experience with dashing has overall been positive, and I hope doordash fixes issues like these in the future.

Always evolving. This latest update added dark mode but the default is dark mode and you have to go into settings to know that you can change it back to light mode if you would rather prefer that. A little tutorial on how to access that. Alpha platform it still has some Growing Pains it needs some tweaks yet I spent three hours dashing.only 1 order fully dropped to phone. It auto accepted two orders for me while I wasn't even fully signed in. So now I have 2 unassign.

I get notifications saying that it's "Very busy in my area", but when I open the app, it's completely dead. Idk what the issue is here, but it needs to be fixed to accurately reflect how busy it is. I've left my house multiple times expecting to get a few deliveries, only to have to turn around and go back home.

  • It works, but not reliably. May 22, 2019

    By flippity floppity flue
The dasher app does what it absolutely must do for a dasher to do their job, but it’s glitchy. The mapping system recommends going the wrong way down one way streets and to drive on the wrong side of a divided street. It’s frozen several times during deliveries, which forces me to restart my phone to reset the app. It’s also gotten stuck in a loop of asking me to verify the age of a customer who was receiving some alcohol. I would enter the information and press submit, then it would ask me to verify the age again. Any time the app freezes or loops, you have to call a help center to get the delivery status force changed. But, the option to call that center is not given in app. I had to find the phone number online and then save it my phone book for future issues. Every time something like this happens, it wastes your time and delays getting another delivery request. Lately, it’s also been having trouble recognizing when you’re near a pickup point. Thankfully, the programmers thought about that one and made possible for the dasher to change status to pickup even if the app doesn’t recognize that you have arrived at the merchant location. There are some other problems, but this covers the ones I’ve been getting most frequently. For my money though, it’s still better than driving people around. I won’t mention any company names.

I know for a fact that there are shifts available because they show up on my cousin's phone, but it won't show them on my phone. I spoke with support, but I couldn't understand half of what they were saying due to the thick accent, so the issue is still unsolved, and I'm going broke because of it.😡

  • Overstatement. Apr 30, 2019

    By pretty and cool
First off those pics on the download screen are an overstatement, I’ve never gotten $12 for an order that was that close maybe if you’re lucky they’ll give you almost $10 to deliver a town away (making you leave your starting point and not paying you to get back while you lose out on more orders) and it’s never that busy. I started dashing over a year ago and they keep hiring more and more people so it’s flooded. They should do what grub hub does and stop hiring ppl in flooded areas, it makes it almost impossible to get an order now. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you hate easy access to support and want to wait 30min to talk to someone thru the app (and only if you’re actively on an order otherwise good luck with the FAQs) and don’t mind getting screwed over with pay so it barely evens out to the gas you use getting less than $7hr including gas then this app is for you! It’s great to make money on your free time but not something you can do as a 9-5 job unless you have literally no responsibilities. There’s no phone number to call and they actually block your # after you enter it in the app so they can text you but if you try to call support the lines dead for us dashers unless we use someone else’s phone. Really greedy company and definitely overstates how much you can earn while saturating the app with more and more dashers while struggling to give them all orders thus why they’re partnering with more stores giving free delivery specials and promos
