  • It save me 10 years ago and it save me again this year Feb 6, 2021

    By Dj Tru3nuff
I’m a club dj and ten years ago my laptop got stolen and I was working 5 night at a strip club, the club computer was running VDJ very slow froze up for no reason at any time. So I couldn’t afford another laptop so I downloaded all kind of dj app there wasn’t to many that was stable at the time then I found this one. While other apps were crashing after only running a hour or so djay app ran through my whole shift. So I paid for the pro version and it did me right that year. Then I got me a laptop for me a controller and got back on my seroto. Now fast forward to 2020, at the time djay was just a app not realizing how it expanded to laptop. Then January 9th I my family and I lost everything in a house fire that includes my whole studio that took me literally 10 years to build my music collection my mixes everything gone in 20 minutes a had no insurance to rebuild ..Even though my world stop a dj with no tools and I had to return to work. The day before I was looking at you tube videos and a video pops up and it’s a couple of djs reviewing djays new pro look and the effect. Then I remember I bought the app I downloaded they gave me the pro version use tidel app and it ran better than I can ever imagine and I save me again but this time imma stick with this app for sure. I just got a iPad donate to me hopefully soon I can save up for a controller. This is the best app for real djs especially the ones who is struggling.

  • The visuals are not working. Feb 21, 2021

I have owned every version of the Djay app. I also own the Vjay app. The previous versions have been great. This new version has been a big disappointment. Too many bugs. The visuals do not work properly, there is a huge pause when trying to pull up my music lists of songs and when playing the loops the visuals pause. My music videos also pause. I own 2 iPad Pro’s and both are having the same issues. It appears this new version is pulling visuals from my previous Djay Pro app on one deck and the other deck will not play visuals at all. The visual issue started with the recent update. The pausing problem has been an issue from the beginning. At this point it is not reliable enough for me to renew my subscription. Update: I remain a huge fan of this app. I continue to use it as my main source when DJing events. The visual bugs have been fixed. I look forward to any and all improvements and continued additions to the app.

Thanks to the developer response (finally) I can use this app, although I still wish for a better video view where u could actually ADJUST THE CUE AND CHANGE THE TWMPO / BEND without 2 sub menus... I cared enough to both for the last year for 1 thing maybe in the next year that goodie will come to pass...side note, instead of drag and drop, perhaps could be part of intuitive drop down menu inside video where u pick VISUALIZER;) Thanks again ...continued success I’ve gone from 2 star to 4.3... will b 5 when u gives a tempo view as big as the eq view;) cheers Been waiting for a year now for them to add the most requested feature... We MUST be able to overlay our own videos for songs that don't have a video (like in the former djaypro)... Nobody at the club wants to watch a 5 second loop for 6minutes....I-Don’t recommend for anyone doing video, the now unavailable djay pro was 1000% better, hopefully they will restore previous layout and functionality...lack of dedicated and available pitch bend/control...is another awful decision which shows their desire to be purely a consumer product and not for pro dj’s who can actually mix. After 5 years with Djay, I’m extremely disappointed , Maybe they will listen to the pros that made the app a success in the first place...no developer response to my inquiries for over a year, sad

  • Most used app on my phone Dec 22, 2020

    By smokey_mcpot
Ever since my hardware started acting screwy, I decided to give some alternatives a try. I’ve only ever mixed and recorded analog... 1200s, CDJs with actual CDs, mixer into the AUX of a stereo, cassette recordings... I’ve never used software before. I wouldn’t even know how to connect my laptop to my mixer. Yeah I know... ridiculous, right? But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Well... it broke. So I decided to give some of the DJ apps a try. And I gotta say... most of the ones I tired were pretty terrible. Hot garbage, if I’m being honest. They had interesting qualities but wasn’t quite “there”. And the recordings sounded worse than my cassette recordings, hiss and all. This was the last app I tried. And I fell in love. So much so, I actually pay for it... and if you knew me... you’ll know I never spend money on apps. Only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5, is because the app drains my battery pretty quickly. Otherwise it’s be the full 5 stars. Anyways, hope my review is helpful to someone on the fence about giving it a try. All I’ll say is, this is by far the best app I’ve come across that fulfills what I need in a DJ setup... and more. I’ve tried about 4 other ones, and not only is this smoother and easier to use, the UI is way better looking than the others I tried. Solve that battery draining problem and I’d go as far as it say it’s perfect (for what I need). Good luck!

I previously wrote an angry review with one star for this app. I am seriously annoyed with companies switching to a subscription model instead of supporting apps or desktop applications people have already paid for and expected support for. That said, I am updating my review and rating due to the fact that this update is excellent. It’s the best DJ app on iOS. For 4 stars, I implore Algoriddim GmbH to allow for more comprehensive editorial of the beat grid. Bonus points for allowing the user to create new audio files with truncated versions of tracks. Some songs have sliding, evolving, or distinct tempo sections. “Batdance” by Prince is a great example. There’s basically another song embedded in the middle of that track. As a vinyl DJ I understand that skill can overcome these limitations, but as an Apple customer who just bought a powerful new iPad Pro, I want my machine to use all it’s processor power to make my life easier and to free up my brain goo processor for other creative activities (microphone banter, visuals, dance-offs, etc). For 5 stars, make this app compatible with Audiobus technology (like DJ Pro is/was). I would also suggest, if they are receptive, ask Ableton if “DJ” can read .ALS files so that all the warp marking labor undertaken by users can be interpreted non-destructively (ie: without rendering a new audio file). Keep up the good work.

This is a great idea of an app just really need some basic controls which are lacking in the automix section. This app can actually make the mix sound really good problem is you can't add more than one song at a time (frustrating) it won't play the songs in the order you queue them up in (has a mind of its own and plays whatever it feels like) and constantly repeats the same songs over and over (even though you have your songs set to play in a particular order). I am an old school consumer that had refused to even consider upgrading to the latest & greatest version, and this was due solely to the “subscription” aspect of the transaction. Then our friends at Algoriddim made an offer to us holdovers that was difficult to refuse, and for that I thank you!!! This version is just magnificent!! The UI is so much sleeker, and with everything so readily accessible that it is clearly obvious that these developers listen to the feedback from users... or that they must be users themselves to know just how to improve this DJay APP to the point of near perfection. I am currently not employed so I have not subscribed, but I may seriously have to choose between eating and enjoying my DJing pleasures very soon. Thank you Algoriddim!! Rich

Five stars everyone knows, next to perfect, but puhleese make four deck functionality for android, if not eight if not 16. Very straightforward Also volume control is not available yet in landscape mode on cell phone due to lack of mixer functionality. Also please show key of song both in search mode and on turntables or mixer perhaps with key match and adjust. And perhaps remove the quarter note logo on artwork to make it look cleaner- love the search off artwork tho, very clean.

  • Love it!...but it could use a few tweaks Dec 10, 2019

This app is how I listen to music; I barely even use the music app anymore. I like the wide range of effects I can choose from, I like the malleability of the software when it comes to changing tempo and almost everything else. Lastly, I absolutely love how you can see the tempos and keys of songs while you're selecting one in your library and that you can change the pitch or keep it the same, even when you need to tweak the BPM a bit. However, no great app is without its flaws. First off, there has been a recurring bug even since Djay 2 was a thing, where the app would mislabel the artist of quite a few of the songs in the music library. For example, the song "Astrocat" by an artist called PIXL is labeled by the app under a different artist in my library, for example, "Droptek and Tut Tut Child." Second off, I have a question. Djay 2 had a feature where you could record your own samples and make your own sample packs. It doesn't say whether this comes with pro features or not. Is that a pro features thing or was it removed entirely? Again, I love the app, but just a few bugs may need to be fixed.

  • Slightly over-reaching Jun 15, 2020

It is an undeniably good time spinning records from the bottomless crate of music-streaming services. Makes nearly any DJ mix you could imagine possible. This makes the app perfect for DJing your living room after parties, free-styling a set from Tidal suggestions, or playing DJ Request on the ones and twos. This is a really fun app and a great way for people to dip their toes in the DJing pool before diving into a multi-thousand-dollar investment on CDJs and a Mixer. The audio quality is passable for most parties, but it’s not professional-grade, which is fine. My only real complaint is that the app will crash eventually if I video-DJ over AirPlay to an AppleTV. Takes about 15 - 20 minutes, and I’m guessing this is a memory leak. But whatever, it’s still a good party trick and I still would recommend checking the app out if you’re curious. You probably won’t regret it. It’s really a lot of fun and can help hone in a DJs set of skills, allowing for many opportunities to expo and/or practice wherever. Keep it up, guys; and maybe see about that memory leak?

  • New connection issues make it almost unusable. Apr 22, 2020

    By NolanA512
As an intermediate DJ, this app does everything I could ask it to do. However, only just a couple days ago, it started being unable to connect to my DDJ-200. I use an iPad as my primary device, and that’s where the problem is. It connects just fine if I use my phone, which I find quite annoying and inconvenient. Bluetooth is Bluetooth so what’s the problem? I’ve tried everything to remedy the issue. Rebooting my iPad several times, deleting the app and reinstalling it, unplugging and plugging back in the DDJ-200, everything, all to no avail. I’ve reached out for help by several methods and have gotten zero response. Algoriddim, please hire an intern or something to manage your Instagram page and to provide responses to questions. Adding insult to injury, I’m a Djay Pro subscriber. Quite inconvenient to have paid for a year subscription only to not even be able to use it how I want. Oh and another thing, I migrated to Tidal (annoyed about that too) and the track list doesn’t provide the key of the track for like half of my set list. Just make your app work 100% how it’s supposed to. Other than that, I have no complaints.

The classic decks work good so far, the automix is a total joke. Songs in the queue are played out of order, played again once they've been listened to and the setting are useless, it doesn't even mix like it's meant to. I was hoping this would be fixed MONTHS after Tidal integration, but these bananas still haven't got their act together.

  • My review of this app over the years Feb 8, 2019

    By TTYLTT
to the developers of this app, I want to say a big thank you for coming up with one of the best mobile dj apps of all time ( djay 2 ). I have been using djay 2 for years and I came to master all of it before the new version which now comes with the subscription. I will ask that certain issues be addressed with the app. I honestly prefer the older djay 2 over the new one because of how simple and well placed the entire app was made. My only concern over the years was how sound output distorts when you lock the key and increase the tempo of any particular song. It’s very identical to that of virtual dj which is very bad. Serato does this key lock thing so well. I’d be more than happy if the developers found a way to push the best of sound output from this app as much as possible. Thanks

  • Too buggy Dec 4, 2020

    By Tarasmc
I’ve been using djay for 10 years now. I’ve been making mixes with the old version the entire time. I downloaded this new upgrade alongside the old one. While i love the features — skip, multiple ways to get to the equalizer, the apparent Neural features, etc — the software is just too buggy. I’ve had the screen just completely freeze on me several times. No clue what’s going on. It also is sometimes delayed in acting on my touch inputs. This is unacceptable where precision is needed. Other times, input is delayed to match the synced beat grid — or something, I really don’t understand what the software is doing. It is too unpredictable for me to record music. I might put a LOT of time into prepping a mix, but the software is likely to freeze or choke during the live record. This wastes my time and is frustrating AF.

I have used the DJay apps for many years from Djay 2to Djay Pro. The newest app from Djay is very confusing. The loading of a playlist for a party is more confusing than the previous apps. Also while you have a playlist playing and a friend want you to load a song in the middle of the playlist to play next it does not allow you to do that or I have not found a function for it. Overall it has more features, which is always good but unfortunately now requires you to pay a weekly subscription for it. I think this is very very inconvenient compared to djay Pro where it’s a one time payment for the app. I will now be deleting the newest app from Djay and reverting back to the old djay Pro. Very disappointed

  • The beat matching is broken Jan 18, 2021

    By Phinixchan
I have been a user since they had their audio version and video version separated. Now, since they have became a AI version of the app for some reason their attempt in beatmatching is broken. I mean how can one use their matching service if the song i am playing (for example there is one that is 101 bpm) and you suggest that I use a track that is 150 bpm. I mean didn’t you forget the rule that it has to be at least 5 bpm in either direction to do a smooth transition. Basically I am playing a game of beat the track where I go through the list and analyze each track to even see if there is even a attempt to use the tracks to see if there’s a useable song to transition to.

  • We asked for more features on Djay Pro, and this is what we get. Dec 17, 2018

    By Draqoon9306
If anyone used the previous generation of the djay series and was in fact following along with the forum, you should be aware that they were willing to add more ideas such as ableton link to djay pro. However, the devs showed up once to support it never since. Well, Now we know why. They weren’t talking on the forum because they knew that they wanted to get more money off features that were requested. It’s important to note that the djay series has been attractive because it was a one-time payment app that beat all other one-time payment djing app. This, however, defeats the trust of the djay series. Even with the 83% off for djay pro users, it’s still outrageous that you pay $9.99 for a year worth of djay, when there are better alternatives at that price range such as the soda. For those of you trying out the djay app for the first time, don’t bother with this one even if it seems very attractive. Get alternatives or the older djay pro. They are only missing a few things and often times they’re cheaper than $9.99 for a one-time payment.

It’s a sad day for visually impaired people who DJ with this app! The app does not allow you to route the voiceover between headphones or speakers anymore like it was accessible and I was 13. With a news update of iOS 14 this is no longer the case and it is not accessible to people who are visually impaired the way that he used to be! Is very disappointing because I have use this app for many years and I have spent thousands of dollars on different controllers and now it’s send me that I must leave! Sure you can buy one of their controllers and things might work, But if you buy a more professional or expensive controller Sally the voiceover accessibility is not the same and cannot be roots it through just the headphones anymore! The voiceover is heard through the speakers as well as the headphones making the DJ experience for visually impaired people impossible to enjoy with everyone else! Goodbye DJ a Y until this issue was fixed and as I said I have canceled my subscription and if you are visually impaired you should cancel yours to
