No issues here.
Oct 13, 2019 I’ve had this app for quite a while. I pair my iPhone (Xr, iOS 13.1.2) with the receiver using Bluetooth, which turns the receiver on and sets it to Bluetooth. Then I fire up pandora, sxm, or 8player. I can listen all day. No drops, pauses, crashes. I listened all day yesterday, and am doing so now as I write this review. Nothing fancy, but it works perfectly.more -
👍Get it!
May 17, 2017 This app works like a charm. Full control options in the palm of your hand. Make life easy for yourself. -
Works fine
Apr 17, 2018 No issues and covers all basic functions of remote -
Dec 29, 2020 Works well I only wish it didn't ask to connect to blue tooth everytime it launches -
May 22, 2020 Downloaded awhile ago to phone and then forgot about it.... Started using today because we have been having issues with our reg. remote. It really appears to work well you can easily see your vol. number and can access the diff. things hooked up to play the audio from and access the manual thru. it also... Our Denon front viewing is so small we can't see what our vol. is and having issues with remote makes it more difficult so this is a great option without pur. Of Universal remote... :)more

Needs default customizations but
Nov 3, 2017 It seems to support most of the basic features that the AVR has, which is itself a basic model. -
Jan 5, 2021 App is horrible ! A simple task of bluetooth connection is obviously more than Denon is capable of handling. Returning receiver for a Yamaha, that app functions and more than a basic remote! -
Aug 5, 2020 BT is inconsistent - connected from phone via BT to device. Playing music as expected. Open app to change volume on device. App disconnects BT for audio and then tells me BT connection failed. Huh? Developers need to update the app accordingly. Just discovered that when the app asks to turn BT on, and you click cancel, it turns it off. That doesn't make any sense. As one reviewer commented, I don't need to be asked about BT being on. App needs some common sense.more -
Oct 28, 2020 Awful app, defaults to bluetooth input and you cant change it, keeps disconnecting and then when you connect again changes input to bluetooth, useless app, going to delete app and try something else. -
What a piece of xxx
Jul 6, 2018 You pair, you start, then few seconds and it drops the connection. To start again, the device reboot to reconnect, switch to something else and few seconds later it drops. With so many complaints from so many customers for so long and no fix. One would think the developer would have been fired by now but may be Mr. Denon himself is the developer. What a shame.more

May 25, 2020 The issue is every time you open the app you have to give permission to turn the Bluetooth on and then regardless of the source you are in, it switches to Bluetooth! It is very annoying because im watching a movie on Blu-ray and want to lower the volume only but it changes the channel to Bluetooth first and i have to select the Blu-ray again and lower the volume! This whole process is very inconvenient and takes around 2min while the movie is being played in the background.more -
Oct 20, 2019 Works well but because most phones close background apps, everytime i bring the app up, i have to reconnect. That's not so annoying, but what is super annoying is that when i reconnect, it defaults to "bluetooth" input which disrupts my movie! PLEASE FIX!more -
Aug 4, 2020 App started self disconnecting a month ago randomly.. no eq. Maybe my service but 2 star rating for now.

Aug 27, 2020 When can Denon finally fix BT connectivity issue (Android 10)? AVR-X540BT does not work with Bluetooth anymore(since last, ancient update) ,cannot connect to phone to stream music this way,nor turn on the unit for example. -
Terrible
Feb 1, 2020 Not compatible with Roku televisions. This could be an amazing app given wifi control allows control without the need for the receiver to be in Eyesite (receiver can be in a closet or closed door cabinet). Unfortunately the app continually loses connection, can’t shut/exit the Settings screen and defaults to radio/tuner when you open the app/connect to wifi...sadmore
What’s Groovy
When I got this a year ago, everything went great. I just tried it today, and I can no longer turn my speaker on or off with the app. Not terrible, but certainly disappointing. The app keeps showing I need to connect to Bluetooth, but when I play my music, it works. Again, it works, so not a huge issue. They must have had an update. I’m afraid to delete the app and reinstall because of the issues I’m reading in other reviews. I guess a bird in the hand...

What’s Subpar
As far as I can tell, this app is pointless. This app is essentially like the physical remote that comes with the Denon devices, plus a built-in music player. You can't do anything that you couldn't already do without it. I'll never understand why a manufacturer builds in extra features like this that are basically useless. Download if you lost your remote, but otherwise, ignore it.
