Incredible
Dec 7, 2020 By MhirandaI am absolutely floored at the quality of this game. I was just looking to scratch that rhythm game itch with something new, so I downloaded this. I was not expecting the experience I got. The mechanics of the rhythm game itself are fun and intuitive, and the difficulty is challenging (especially Chaos mode) but not so much that levels are impassable after a few attempts. But I’ve played plenty of mobile rhythm games that were probably comparable in gameplay mechanics alone. The music itself is diverse and unique, as it follows a narrative of a variety of composers and performers, so each character whose music you play has a unique style. Even the electronic music (which isn’t really my genre) is fun to play and listen to, especially from the perspective of it being something written by one of these characters you grow attached to over time. But the thing that really truly wowed me about this game was the story. The character interactions, both in “IM” and in the offline interactions are super realistic and natural, and the way the story unfolds and ties everything together is incredibly addictive and engaging. I’ve found myself spending hours playing this game just to read the next thing that happens. I definitely intend to purchase more character DLC in the future, and as another reviewer stated, think this would make an incredible anime. more -
Great game
Jun 18, 2019 By 👨🐳😓💚😓👽👽😂😓🐅I normally don’t leave reviews, especially for games, but I had to leave one for this. I haven’t played the first Cytus game but I got this one for the Miku update. As a huge Hatsune Miku fan, I was very curious to see how they would incorporate her into this. I was pleasantly surprised with how they portrayed Miku and how their original story grabbed my attention and kept me wanting to know more. As for the other characters, I love how everyone’s story connects in some way. The characters are all interesting and unique and the songs for each of them are very fun to play and listen to. I also enjoy reading the Twitter-like social media posts and how everyone interacts with each other. The rhythm game aspect of this is something I’m genuinely impressed with. Some games you have to build teams with special characteristics or get special items that save you from having an offbeat note deducted from a full combo, and I don’t especially care for that. In this game, if you miss, you miss. And it makes me want to get better at the more difficult levels to improve my skill and timing rather than spend money on things that will save my offbeat notes for the sake of a full combo. Overall, this game gets 5 stars from me. It’s well made, has great art, great music, and an actual in depth story to it. Well done! more -
Dec 26, 2022 By Michael TedjoI dunno if its the device I'm on, or the app isn't as optimized as it could be but getting misses on notes I've very clearly hit is annoying. Supposedly the game is a resource hog, but I'm on an s9 note and people haven't had these issues on older phones. I've cleared background apps and changed settings to make it work but it's still inconsistent. Edit: The game still slightly drop inputs after applying fixes, but its now enjoyable if a bit frustrating occasionally. Worth the time. more -
Wow. Rayark, please read this.
Jan 12, 2020 By HyperIntake111I stumbled across this masterpiece of a game accidentally around the time of its release while looking for a way to occupy over twenty hours of flight time. I must admit that I IMMEDIATELY loved it and was impressed. Two years later, and I do not say this with the intention of flattery or exaggeration, I firmly hold that this is the best game ever made for the mobile platform. This game has continued to provide a joyful and challenging experience that has not seemed to fade over time. However, it is only after playing songs from the newly released characters ‘Sagar’ and ‘Rin’ that I am moved to write a review. You have created such an incredible experience with Cytus from the mechanics, to the story, to, ESPECIALLY, the music library that has been curated. With these two characters specifically, you have expanded into not only different styles, but into completely new instruments and genres of music from different cultures, and that is a beautiful thing. Music is a universal language. Please do not stop creating, curating, and expanding the musical exposure you are providing for your players. You have the continued support of at least one very satisfied player. And seriously, this game is just so much FUN! 😱 more -
Dec 9, 2022 By A Google userOne of my favorite games and an amazing beat game and a great selection of music. Edit: Updating review, have not had performance issues since and Rayark has continued to both update and expand the content of the game (which was already big and has a mind numbingly convoluted plot) and did me the courtesy of putting it on play pass. Love you all over at Rayark, and now so does my wallet. Cytus and Cytus II have been an invaluable part of my life. Cheers to a great 10 years. more -
Amazing
Jan 23, 2018 By SGXeskaSo far I enjoy the variety of backgrounds more from the first Cytus but overall this game is amazing. It deals with some of the oddities of the original Cytus in creative ways. The really fast moving reaction bar prevents me from not seeing the notes that would appear under my thumb/fingers (depending how I'm playing). You can also tell that Rayark has used lessons they've learned from Deemo and VOEZ when it comes to mapping the notes and adding variety. The maps feel more natural than in the original as well. I'm enjoying the story so far. I'm not done with it yet although I'm not sure if this a sequel or prequel at this point. Idk when I'll buy the other characters but it really does seem like it would be worth it. Can we get the million downloads challenge again ;) ? Edit: you unlock more levels as you play, it's not 9.99 for 3 songs. I'm pretty sure they'll be adding songs to each character too as time goes on so I'm sure the initial purchase of 9.99 for 10-11 songs will gain value when more songs are added. Then original launched with 30 I think. This one already has like 55 so this will be exciting! more -
Dec 7, 2022 By Mohamed AmrI usually don't give high ratings, but when it's 'bout this game, yes! it's a pretty smooth and exciting rhythm game, with many song waiting up for ya to play 'em. It's also kind of a roleplay game, with the new character levels unlocked you get new post (stories) to read (although the comments contain offensive language, but it's censored!). as for the sad part, it's the prices (additional). $10-12 to unlock a character for new albums? *crys * more -
Great game... my previously purchased song packs gone with 2.1
Mar 6, 2019 By Arkamaty—urgent— it appears that 2.1 has a bug which will not register the songs which were part of previously purchased BM song packs into their respective chapters. It still shows the packs as purchased, and the game will register songs from packs which are purchased after updating to 2.1. —actual review— This has to be my favorite rhythm game on iOS (and I’ve played many). The most startling thing about it is how they managed to pull off the story-we can all agree I’m sure that most rhythm games with a storyline have a pretty crappy story. This one, however, like other games from Rayark, has a captivating (albeit complicated) storyline, regardless of the fact that it’s genre isn’t the easiest to create a storyline for. Aside from that, the gameplay is great as well. I get much less lag from this game than others. The visuals are also beautiful. Though I will say this about the charting: in general it’s pretty good, but the 2 new song packs in 2.1 each have a level “15” chart which plays like a fan made chart. The rest are good, I’m just not liking this new trend. more -
Sep 28, 2022 By EpilepticZombieWonderful game. Captivating story. However, the jump in difficulty from Hard to Chaos is a bit too large. I'd give it five stars if not for that. Muse Dash has a great example of increasing in difficulty at a decent pace (though they have a much larger library). Also, music packs being ten dollars each (and I think, in some cases, some are even fifteen!) is a bit much. I think two or three dollars would be a suitable price for song packs, and perhaps five dollars for characters. more

This Game Is Incredible and Worth All The Money
Jan 26, 2020 By Phoenixflight44576This is possibly the best game on the App Store. It’s so beautifully crafted in all aspects. Gameplay is super smooth, and the maps are a ton of fun and so satisfying to hit. The story is brilliantly told through its various POV’s and has several shocking and creative storytelling parts that are incredibly immersive. The developers have clearly poured their heart and soul into this game because everything about it is just so well polished. I got the game when it came out and have been following it, rabidly consuming any and every update as soon as it came out. The story is so compelling. It’s also great how considerate they’ve been about their DLC’s because they’re not essential to the story (except maybe for ConnoR) but do add a lot and are rewarding if/when you do buy them. The singular complaint I have is a bug with the Tap FX when using my headphones (Bose QC 35’s 1). The FX are delayed for some reason and it’s actually a huge problem that causes them to sound off. It’s something Rayark should look into. But aside from that, I honestly can’t recommend this game enough!!! more

Sep 10, 2021 By Ray PlanteUsed to be my favorite game, but the removal of offline play is a deal breaker for me. Not sure what Rayark was thinking with that. Game data cannot be transferred between operating systems, and the leaderboard system is a joke. With that said, in terms of gameplay this is the best rhythm game out there. Great songs, handles smoothly, and a nice range of difficulty. Great story as well. I really want to give this game 5 stars and keep buying DLC, but there's just too many deal breakers. more -
This game is great. Buuut...
Apr 6, 2018 By Slasher3711Look, I want to say that I adore Cytus. It was a blast to play, and I played it to death. So many good songs, all in a beautiful and fun package. But there was always the underlying issue of DLC. Several of later chapters were locked behind a $10 paywall. That was fine for me. I had all these other fantastic songs, after all. Cytus 2 has ruined that peace of mind by changing how they distribute the songs in DLC. There was great variety in the free content of Cytus. No matter which chapter you played, odds are, there was something you’d like. Cytus 2, on the other hand, restricts songs by artist. Have a kind of music you really like? Hope it’s not DLC. And for me, it was. I strongly dislike two out of three of the free artists. But I can already tell I’d love the DLC characters! All of them seem perfect for me! But I can’t play their songs unless I shell out a frankly absurd amount of money for a game that made me pay up front anyway. And that’s not even the worst part! I’m a guy that loves a good story, so when Cytus started throwing it at me, I loved it! But if HALF of the story makes me pay $30 for it? Well, I’d be very upset, and write a one-star review for the game. Ooh, that’s a good idea. I should go back in time to tell my past self to write this review! more -
Jun 17, 2019 By A Google userThe biggest issue I have is the notes I hit are not registering. Especially in hard mode. I had taken care of any other factors such as sweaty fingers, or a dirty screen. I knew that having to restart the level many times due to thinking I was going insane when I wasn't hitting those notes when I really was, I was able to know the placement of said notes. Even the easy notes in where they came up once, when I tapped them, hard or soft, they had a good chance of not registering for me. more -
I want to love the game, but can’t
Jul 2, 2019 By Dragon2foxThe music is amazing, I’ve played Cytus 2 and VOEZ and really loved both. But with Cytus 2, the main issue, is you don’t get much content if you choose not to buy the dlc. Also, the DLC costs 10 dollars each, and if you’re wanting to actually play the game, and from what I’ve heard, understand the story. You’ll need shell out around $70 dollars to be able to experience the whole game. That’s ridiculous amount of money for a mobile game, even an amazing one from a really good company. Why can’t there just be an option to buy all of them for let’s say half the total price it would cost to buy them separately?? And while we are at it, why not lower the price of the dlc. 10 dollars is a lot of money for a mobile game. Also charging over 70 dollars for all the dlc is more than a triple A game, which have way more content. more -
A bit sad
Mar 23, 2018 By Dogbutt751My sister and I share our account, and so for a while we were both able to enjoy the game and the in-app purchases she made on our individual devices. After a couple weeks, however, my game stopped working. (My sister’s still works fine) I would open the app and it would do its normal intros such as “use headphones for best experience” and the Rayark logo, but then the screen would go black and there would be no sound. It just freezes. I can’t play the game anymore and I’m sad because the game itself is amazing. The song choices are great, the storyline is captivating and the overall layout is so fresh and crisp. I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the app and I don’t know what else to do but I really want to play the game again. more

But aside from that, I honestly can’t recommend this game enough!!! more -
Oct 25, 2022 By Becks TI was very skeptical when my friend told me to get this game. I never got rhythm games before, because I thought They would be too difficult. But My friend convinced me to buy the game anyway. And I have been a convert ever since. The developers did a good Job of including alot of different songs and levels. So I can improve and move on at my own pace. Also the story line is pretty fun. Get the game! It's good! more -
Outstanding
Feb 28, 2020 By JSGarfinkelI have never written a review before but this game deserves one. It’s absolutely incredible and truly one of the finest games I have ever played. The core gameplay is engaging with a perfect difficulty curve. The more you play the more your skill inches up higher and higher and there’s always another chart that was juuuuust out of reach that you can finally now full-complete (MM). The story (yes! Story!) is fantastic, full of engaging characters, deep world-building, complex themes, and unique non-traditional storytelling methods. The cutscenes are rare but are always top-notch quality when they appears. And finally, THE MUSIC. Rhythm games live or die on their music and Cytus II thrives on a *stellar* soundtrack. There’s something here for everyone and nearly every song is worthy of headphones time on it’s own even separated from gameplay. Rayark has curated an incredible collection of songs from a wide swath of genres that you will want to play again and again. This game is a masterpiece. If you have any affinity for rhythm games you will absolutely love it. more -
Rayark doesn’t disappoint!
Feb 23, 2018 By S3V3N-SImprovement in almost every aspect. We’ll get to that almost later, but first, the mountain of good things. The story actually matters and is so good! I’m not usually a fan of mystery or who done it themes... this had me hooked. Granted, this isn’t the first game to use social media as a story tool. It’s just the best example of it done right I know of. The songs are fun, the art is spectacular, character designs are memorable, and dynamic scanner speed is a stroke of genius. The game as a whole is a delight. As for that almost... the number of songs is kinda light. In of itself, that’s not too bad, but it makes getting the next bit of story feel like a grind going through the songs a second time in this sitting. Changing characters combats this, but I still wish it didn’t even come up. On the bright side it’s something that can easily be addressed in an update and it didn’t keep me from enjoying myself. I’m more than happy with this game and can’t wait to see what the team does with it in the future. Please port to the switch and let me give you money. more

Worth the time. more -
Dec 7, 2022 By Mohamed AmrI usually don't give high ratings, but when it's 'bout this game, yes! it's a pretty smooth and exciting rhythm game, with many song waiting up for ya to play 'em. It's also kind of a roleplay game, with the new character levels unlocked you get new post (stories) to read (although the comments contain offensive language, but it's censored!). as for the sad part, it's the prices (additional). $10-12 to unlock a character for new albums? *crys * more -
Sep 28, 2022 By EpilepticZombieWonderful game. I think two or three dollars would be a suitable price for song packs, and perhaps five dollars for characters. more -
Aug 24, 2022 By Lil stinkerThis game is definitely worth the purchase. It has a large song selection and a really great story that keeps you hooked all the way through. I usually only play rythm games for the game play bit the story was amazing. The dlc content is plentiful so if you liked the game and want more content, it's there. The only reason it's 4 stars for me is the framerate on my device. I play on my phone and there are no graphics settings so framerate sometimes struggles leading to like 50 random misses. more -
Jun 9, 2019 By A Google userThis game is honestly great. The plot is interesting and immersive, the music is top notch, and the new note system is beautiful. However, I think it would be better to increase the upfront price of the game and have all the characters unlocked with dlc available that isn't necessary for the plot of the game. The game as it is now feels really incomplete with major plot points locked behind a paywall. more -
I’m not disappointed.
Jan 19, 2018 By Whatm8Just what I expected from Rayark. I loved the original cytus, and when I heard a sequel was coming, I was half excited and half worried. As much as I loved the first one, I didn’t want to set the expectations too high and hype myself. However, Rayark succeeded to make this second one a masterpiece, by keeping the basic and the most important keypoints of the first one in gameplay, while adding some modern touches, such as simple yet awesome interface designs, new note designs, interesting storytelling, and so on. The only reason I’m not giving the game a perfect score is because the new note designs contain too much particles and blinking lights, and frame drops happen in an old phone, like my iphone 6+. This is actually very distracting, and I would like it if the developers will add some performance options, like less particles or downgrading the whole graphic during gameplay. Or returning the old designs, Idk. Anything that will boost the frame rates in-game. Rather than that, I’m digging it. I’m going to buy both dlcs after I get all the songs for the original characters. Love the wonderful work, Rayark. Hope you keep it up. more -
Great game, pricey DLCs
Apr 30, 2019 By dgvamberI quite enjoy playing this game, definitely one of my favorite rhythm games to play. However, it is quite expensive to buy all the seven (7) DLCs. It'll add up to $70+ which is a lot, even though this game is beautiful and wonderfully made. It would be nice if there was a way to buy all the characters together for less instead of paying $10 each. Perhaps give the $10 (or less) option for buying the characters separately, and a cheaper option to buy them all together. Though, with what you get I'd say it's worth $2. You get a good pack of songs from four (4) characters, and three (3) different gameplay levels of easy, hard, and chaos. I enjoy playing the songs, even though chaos can get quite difficult at times. Tip: Use all your fingers if you're playing on chaos, or a difficult hard level. I was playing only with my thumbs but didn't understand how playing chaos was even possible until I watched a video where the player laid the iPad on a table and played using all their fingers. Maybe I'm just dumb 😅 more -
Return of the sore thumbs
Mar 16, 2018 By kokujin_2000If you're a fan of cytus then there's no surprise that the top selling music game is back. Yes cytus 2 has dropped and it's a combination of old school cytus with a dash of Voez. Visuals are top notch and the soundtrack is a mashup of varied genres divided between the characters. This game has my undivided attention for the time being. ***Would it hurt to put in a practice mode? If players keep making the same mistakes on the same places on a chaos level no amount of tries will change the outcome. And your game would receive more playability.*** 4/5 stars because you don't want the players to be able to practice. ***Note: the song "Alterna Pt.1 -Cosmogony-" is quite literally the most painful song I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. It's a brutal assault on the senses. The vocal combination of Ayatsugu_Neverend feat. Kimi sounds like a frog was paired with a less talented Cyndi Lauper. The concentration required to finish the song on any difficulty is a few steps less than trying to land a space shuttle. more -
Cytus 2 is GROWTH
Feb 17, 2019 By OriginalLightRogueEverything about this game is great, and is a continuation of what made the first Cytus an unforgettable gaming rhythmic experience. Each song has a new difficulty scale that caters to the gaming preferences of everyone with the new Chaos difficulty, which with the new choices makes every song easy for the newcomers or intense for those who want to have that challenge with their musical enjoyment. Also, there are the diversity of lyrics in some songs with a mix of English, Japanese or only an instrumental, yet with each character gives an approach of the genre of music that will be introduced. The dlc packs are honestly just as good if not arguably better. My only criticisms to consider is the dlc is unnecessarily expensive (I usually buy a dlc character per pay check since I work), plus the fact that the dlc characters are needed for those who like the story. Other than that, this game is EVERYTHING and more I liked in Cytus 1 and more! more -
Hitting notes says missed
Jan 7, 2019 By LapisAndPeridotI’ve been playing the game for a while now and have enjoyed every bit of it. Recently I’ve purchased the Connor dlc and I’m enjoying the songs thoroughly and losing to them horribly despite the fact I think of myself as “good”. Unfortunately I’ll be playing songs particularly Light of Buenos Aires and I’ll be hitting streaks of notes and they all say I missed them when I’ve been very clearly hitting them. While I still love this game this is a inconvenience being I spent 10$ on this dlc. I didn’t want to write this review if the problem is my iPad Air 2 which I tested everything elsewhere and within the game. The rest of the characters such as Paff,Neko, and Robo Head aren’t having this issue I can not say for the other dlc being Conner is my first. I ask please fix this issue I would like to call myself more than “good” with the scores I’m getting from this bug. more

It’s a fun game, but there’s definitely too much dlc.
Feb 19, 2020 By Please let me go homeI got Cytus 2 a few months ago, and it’s definitely a fun game. It’s ad-free, which is a plus for any free mobile game. It runs extremely smoothly, and the graphics are great. A lot of the charts are great, and some of the songs have definitely grown on me. Eventually, I got to the point where I couldn’t progress any farther without buying any song packs. That’s when the game instantly became unplayable for me. There are about 10 DLC characters, plus many song packs. Each character dlc costs about $10. That means that in order to get all content, you have to spend at least $100 dollars- not counting the extra song packs for free characters. There’s also the recently added capso system, a gacha system that gives a chance to unlock some dlc songs, in case you don’t have that much money like me. However, the capso system also costs $10 to unlock, instead of being free like most other gacha systems in free games. I wouldn’t mind this as much if the dlc were extras. Unfortunately, they all contain major parts of the main story. Basically, the game’s fun, but be prepared to spend a lot of money to get the full experience. more -
Nov 16, 2019 By A Google userSummary: worth a buy, but DLC is completely out of control. I went into this game with VERY low expectations, and was blown away by the good quality. Each character is likeable and unique, the gameplay is both challenging and rewarding, and scales in difficulty from tone deaf to superhuman. However, the story is all text, which I like, but is a big turnoff for some, and despite this being a paid game, there's over $100 of DLC, $40 of which is required to understand the story, and that's not ok. more -
Jan 14, 2020 By A Google userGood game, wonderful mechanics, song list is varied and has something for everyone. However, if you don't feel like shilling off 120+ bucks for everything it has to offer, don't bother getting this game. The low initial price might seem worth it, but having a good chunk of the inner details of the lore and songlist hung on a stick is a horrible marketing strategy. I was only lucky to have all the characters unlocked because of a 1-time offer, which reduced the initial $80 for characters to $35. more -
Bliss and Frustration
Dec 15, 2018 By CosureThe game has great music just like many of Rayark’s previous invites. So good that I’d like to follow the creators of some of the songs in the future. However this game does have some misses. This would’t be a problem if it wasn’t for my main complaint though, which is how it seems some songs were organized for the game without even the thought of “is this possible to play?” Ever taking place. Due to how many hours, maybe months even, of time that I’ve put into Rayark’s Rhythm games, I like to think I’m pretty good. But I have to say that some of these songs ARE NOT POSSIBLE to hit all the notes with without being a programmed machine. I’m sure there is a reason why they chose to make it this way, as otherwise would be a huge oversight. But I can’t see that reason justifying the helplessness some of the songs leave you with. I’d also like to mention the $80 dlc with a growing price for an incomplete story, but many people will talk about that from other reviews. But, as someone that has likely put in $100 dollars+ into these games before Cytus 2, such underhandedness is too far. more -
Way too high price for the DLC
May 30, 2019 By P1atinumMadThis game is good, no question there. Though, if you want to learn more about the the story and play some different songs to grind levels, you need to spend $10 per character or $5 per song pack. Currently, with the addition of Hatsune Miku, who will be available until this time next year, you have to spend $80 to unlock all the characters. Additionally, you would need to spend $35 to buy all the song packs. That’s $117 to fully experience this game including the original purchase. This, combined with the months of wait time between story updates brings down a game that was great to only being mediocre at best TL;DR to buy everything, you need to spend a ridiculous amount of money, and the money and wait for new story segments ruin a great game more

Even the easy notes in where they came up once, when I tapped them, hard or soft, they had a good chance of not registering for me. more -
I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the app and I don’t know what else to do but I really want to play the game again.

I should go back in time to tell my past self to write this review! more -
I want to love the game, but can’t
Also charging over 70 dollars for all the dlc is more than a triple A game, which have way more content. more
