  • Card strategy at its finest Oct 16, 2020

This is a game that is both indescribably easy to pick up, and difficult to master. Despite its deceptively simple mechanics, this game allows for you to think up tactics on the fly and really push the limits of the deck(s) you built. Not to mention the plethora of creature effects the game introduces to you throughout your play at a pace that isn’t overwhelming, but not so slow as to feel like you rarely get something new to experiment with. So for people looking to flex their brains with a short round or two; this is the game for you. This is all without mentioning that this game can be played for completely free, without the help of micro-transactions, if you’re willing to sink a little more time into it and explore the dungeons (which act like a mini-game to let you collect resources). Given the ‘Pay-To-Win’ aspect of some other card collectors, this is a breath of fresh air. My only complaint (which is more of a nitpick really) is that Absa feels a bit weak in comparison to other rivals. Often times, when I was using her, I felt Maypul would be a better pick due to her less restrictive activation requirement. However, all rivals are extremely fun to play and activate the effects of (including Absa). So I hope to see this game thrive. Good job Fornace and co. Good job.

This is a really refreshing game. Unlike games like puzzles and dragons, this game really is a incredible game on its own even without being able to level up characters! The main “game” itself is super intricate and has tons of room for strategy. Even with the same deck, two players would likely play completely differently! There are so many different strategies it’s crazy! Also I love that this game does’t push the micro transactions too hard either! (One bug is tho that it doesnt show you how any purple orbs you get from mircotransactions. It onky shows the $ cost lol) Overall great game and I can’t wait to pioneer new strats!

I like the game but I absolutely hate it at the same time. Creatures of Aether is very much like Tetra Master, a Final Fantasy mini-game but with a twist. Certain cards in Creatures of Aether have powers and the board does have elemental tiles that can give or remove stats. Although I did get a bit of nostalgia because it’s similar to Tetra Master, Creatures of Aether is not nearly as fun nor satisfying. Cards can level up if you have enough duplicates of the same card which means the game is pay to win. There is a total deck cost limitation meaning each card has a certain cost and if your deck is above the cost you cannot play the deck, I’d love to play all my strongest cards in a single deck but that would never happen. The elemental tiles are sometimes a pain to deal with because you can be forced to dump a card in an elemental tile that isn’t favorable for your cards element which means your card loses overall stats, there is a specific card that removes elemental tiles but if you didn’t pick that card as your starter, too bad. If you plan on trying the game, I do believe it can be fun but it is very much is pay to win.

  • Great game but needs updating Jan 26, 2021

I love everything about this game from the concept to the gameplay but when it comes down to it, it still has a lot of bugs. When in game it takes a good chunk of time to find an opponent which is fine but when you get into a match with an opponent you glitch out 15% of the time, also there is a glitch in the reward ladder that doesn’t allow you to collect your rewards at a certain point but you can collect them before and after that point. Another thing it is way too time consuming to get more cards and resources, without a getting chests after every win the battle pass type system they have is fine but there needs to be something else besides micro transactions to keep people going. I’d absolutely love to see this game blow up but it’s simply not going to happen with all of these bugs and inconsistencies in play.

I wish it didn't automatically connect with other players for progression. Card battlers don't have to be PvP all the time. Plus there are some game breaking cards. I get that this is a very new game but it's really unbalanced and needs to separate pvp from in game progression so people who just want a casual card battler can chill out.

Pay2win. Obtaining and upgrading all the cards costs... Level 3: $148 + 132 hrs grinding. Level 4: $580 + 516 hrs grinding. NOT grinding more than doubles the costs. You get daily gifts and monthly ladder rewards but they barely make a dent. Animations, transitions, matchmaking, and network play is too slow to be enjoyable. The game isn't programmed well. I've also run into some game breaking bugs and balance problems. Your competitive mobile CCG is in another castle.

Alright game, copied way too much from clash Royale. Very pushy on the battle pass, which ofers you garbage for the price. If you want a good takoboy game check out curses and candies but definitely not this one.
  • Bad matchmaking Nov 28, 2020

    By Teknomansir
Matchmaking for a card game seems asinine, even childish to talk about, but it is key to focus on player ranks and matchmaking in any sort of duel type game. Even card games, you should not have a system that matches a player who has 1500 trophies or medals to a player like myself who only has 500. This is a clear indication of one player having 1) more experience 2) higher level cards 3) better/more cards 4) better/more abilities. These all seem trivial in their own, but when it’s a cause of a loss of 20 matches in a row, this is problematic for newcomers. I really, really wanted to enjoy this game, but I attempted 20 matches in a row and lost each one due to being out decked by another players deck of creatures and their abilities. A beautiful game that has massive potential, but a major, impassible flaw

I am passionate about the Aether series. Now, I can enjoy the game I love. without the need for a console. This mobile game reminds me of older pixelated videogames I've tried, and I well-welcome this idea. A nostalgic, and fun twist with this game.

  • Get. This. GAAAAAAME! Oct 26, 2020

So u know those games where u place a card that does more damage than the other card? Well in this game u can choose ur rival, which is ur starter in this game, and I chose Orcane. Orcane has an ability called “Puddleport” which allows u to shoot a waterfall at a few enemies. If u don’t know how to fight, look at the top left corner of ur card and it will show u how much damage it can do in certain places. For example, just say it says 5 at the top. If it says that, then you will do 5 damage to cards above u. I’m obsessed with this game and u have to get it! PLS! Thx for reading this and I hope you get the game. Bye!

Absolutely worth every minute, and every dime (if you so choose). This is like Tetra Master from Final Fantasy 9 (one of the top five greatest card games EVER), only it’s far more detailed, improved, modernized, and ORIGINAL. Play for five minutes, and you won’t stop. Promise. It’s the “easy to learn, tough to master” type of game that ANYONE can pick up. Can’t get enough. AMAZING JOB DEVS, please keep this one alive. It’s got one heck of a future :) thank you! PS - please make a switch version ASAP!!

  • F2P Friendliness Oct 2, 2020

Been following this since the Rivals Direct. Happy to say it surpassed my expectations for enjoyment. It’s a nice breath of fresh air for PvP strategy games and the PvE feels better than I had hoped. So far the only thing that doesn’t feel as great is the economy. It may be due to the fact it’s new but there is a large disparity between the amount of gold earned from PvP compared and the amount needed to level up cards. I know mobile games need to reward players who spend money but when the most consistent F2P source of farming gives so little it doesn’t feel rewarding when I big brain someone 4 matches in a row and can’t even level up a rare card. I just wanna feel progress when I make big brain plays. Overall still love the game and am gonna keep playing!

I really like the concept of this game. It was fun at first until I reached rank 4 or so and then started losing EVERY SINGLE match. Whether against IRL people or AI, regular or draft, it just doesnt matter. I can’t seem to win even a single game no matter how my deck is structured nor how I play out an individual game. I dont understand what happened that has led to a HARD stop in the game for me. And the thing that makes it worse is there is very little you can do about it as F2P as a loss awards nothing but a couple coins which you need 100s and 1000s of to do pretty much anything in this game. I was really enjoying this game and then all of a sudden something happened and it went from fun to nothing but losing 100% of the time and a feeling of there being nothing I can do about it :/

Conceptually it's really good, but the battle pass and constant bugs kinda ruined it for me. In order to gain the full rewards from playing the game you need to give up some cash for a battle pass, and the game will not be afraid to pester you to buy it. The bugs got so bad I couldn't even do anything on most of the menus at one point, and each update introduces a new wave of glaring bugs. If this game was treated with the same care & attention as Rivals of Aether I think it'd be much better

The game is very focused on PvP. There is a short single player tutorial, and then it wants you to match against other players. The other single player mode requires the premium currency, so it is very limited unless you want to pay. I don't mind PvP, but I want to be able to play a quick PvE game without having to constantly pay for premium currency.

Game is really great with mechanics, fresh and complicated in a fun and engaging way. Problem is there are way too many freeze issues and it's easy to see that resources... are going to be a big issue. At least, give the players more flexibility or it'll really step on what makes a fun card game. This is a really unique card game, and I want to give it a 4.5 at least, but it's not going to be enough. Encouraging whales is fine, but I bet the longevity of this game is going to suffer very soon.

  • New Review (Seems previous one got deleted?) Jan 25, 2021

    By AwesomePossum50
So I guess maybe the ratings are so good because negative reviews are removed or something? But anyways, previously I mentioned that it revolves around PvP, with AI matches for rewards ending really quickly, but it turns out if you get lucky and don’t find a match in 30 seconds, you can choose to face an AI opponent, which is one nice thing. Though it still tries to make you buy the Season Pass after pretty much every match, and without the season pass, rewards are severely limited. Also the only half-decent way to earn gold is to spend some premium currency to enter dungeons and have a chance to get some, with one-time “Plunder Dungeons” available for free from the shop sometimes, which doesn’t really make any sense. Also, there are daily Elemental Dungeons that cost over $1 worth of premium currency to enter each time, and if I understand correctly from how they were described in-game, they don’t even guarantee rewards if you fail them... Again, a cool idea, but there are much better ones out there that are less expensive in the long run.

  • *Bug* EXPLANATION. *READ* Nov 15, 2020

    By Lkjgvkhgv
Greetings, I am using iOS 14.2, the latest edition of the iPhone SE, and latest update of the app. I just downloaded it today. Every time I complete the first tutorial mission (flipping), the game freezes in the exiting loading screen. Once closing the app and reopening it, I’m able to start the second mission and complete the third with no problem. Once I attempt to start the first mission of the 2nd set of missions (elemental), it freezes upon the loading of the entering loading screen. By “entering loading screen” I mean the loading screen that then leads to the gameplay of the mission. I’ve tried reinstalling the game, and it did not work, which makes me think that this is a bug on the developers’ end. Please fix this so that I may enjoy the game. Thank you

  • Disappointing and frustrating Oct 8, 2020

The gameplay is much like Final Fantasy’s triple triad, except now there’s bonus tiles and abilities. The abilities are either you get to comeback from losing, or you just got completely locked down cause every bonus tile is burned up turn 1. Even in training 2 the game feels like what you get as starting cards are worthless. Unlike Triple Triad there seems to be very little balance, and I haven’t even touched pvp. This is just with the computer. Where as TT has card rarities restricted after 3 stars to allow for more balanced gameplay, I see no such balance here. The concept of a triple triad like game I can play without paying $15 a month for FFXIV is enticing, but with as disappointing my first hour was, I’d rather pay for XIV to get better more balanced gameplay.
