  • great - please make it work across states Aug 7, 2020

Great that we can use this app to help contact tracing and fight covid. It took 5 weeks longer to develop than swisscovid and lacks the nice graphics but otherwise seems to do the job. It was a bit of o struggle to make it work since i had swisscovid installed and enabling notifications didn’t work until i deinstalled swisscovid - without getting clear instructions from the installer. Would be great if one app would work everywhere or if at least switching was easy - uninstall and i stall different app may be acceptable for international travel but not for each trip to Maryland or NC.

I appreciate the efforts to curb the spread of Covid. However when I turned off my phone's location, I received a notification from Google's Exposure Notifications framework that I needed to enable location in order for the app to work. What??? Covidwise says that "No personal data or location tracking occurs within this app." I've since learned that while the app itself doesn't ask for location, Google's Exposure Notification framework (used by the app) obtains location data by using Bluetooth. This is very confusing. Please work out the kinks in messaging this. Otherwise it looks like the app is trying to do something sneaky (trying to gather and store my location data without telling me).

This is a great app, designed with privacy first in mind. There is no way for anyone to know your information. Let your friends and family know and ask them to download the app. It can save their life. The more people download it, the better it becomes. I had a colleague receive a notification about possibly being exposed. He went to get tested and sure enough he was positive. He did not have symptoms but he self quarantined and saved his elderly parents from exposure. Download and spread the word! We can fight this virus out together.

Update - I uninstalled and reinstalled and notifications are working correctly now. However, please make more helpful error messages though. Older review - I get an 'Internal Error, please try again' when I try to set Exposure Notifications (I have both bluetooth and Wifi enabled - using a Galaxy S10). Please fix or give a more helpful error message so I can troubleshoot what the root of the problem is - whether it's a 'user error', phone configuration or something else out of my control.

The app works splendidly! I wanted to help you out by giving you some other ways to help protect toy self and other people! 1. Wear a mask at all times. (Preferably the blue ones not cloth, but ofc use what you have.) 2.) Stay 6 feet a part. I understand it can be hard to maintain that distance but at least try to stay arm length away from everyone. 3. Limit going out as much as possible. 4. Make sure all of your family is wearing a mask please. 5. Stay away from crowded areas. 6. Don’t follow Byrce Hall and throw parties please 🤦‍♀️ 7. Check your temperature regularly. Just in case, I recommend checking your temperature before going out. If it is higher then 6 degrees then your normal temperature, try staying home. 8. Wash your hands!!!!! 9. Carry hand sanitizer everywhere. After you leave a store, use it. Before you eat, use it. After physical contact, use it. 10. Be safe!

Bluetooth has always had security issues! Hackers can get into our phones via Bluetooth. Search Google: "Bluetooth Unveils Its Latest Security Issue, With No Security Solution," ... on MSN News/Gizmodo, 9/10/2020. Also, Bluetooth constantly searches, draining batteries. I think it would be safer for the app to keep a record of where we have been for the past couple of weeks, then the VDH could use that to cross-reference to see if any app users were around an app reported Covid-19 victim.

Doesn't run daily or even weekly checks. Have been in contact with the developers previously about this issue which so far can only be rectified by uninstalling then reinstalling. I am wondering if it stops checking forever even if you only briefly turn off bluetooth, instead of ensuring that connection..

I keep Bluetooth turned off when at home, only turn it on when I leave the house. Both for security, as well as battery saving. This app is CONSTANTLY bugging me to turn on Bluetooth - about once every hour or two. As if that’s not annoying enough, the app even bugs me IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!! Really?! If you want to remind me once, in case I really did forget to turn on Bluetooth, then fine. But any more than that, and it’s a real nuisance. And this nonsense with being repeatedly woken up in the middle of the night - every night - reminding me to turn on Bluetooth...I’m over it. Deleting the app; if you fix the notification issue, I’ll consider reinstalling.

Have had the app for a couple of weeks with no alerts, and there is no way to tell if the app is working. Some reviewers mentioned a weekly text saying that they had no exposure in the previous week, but I have not received any such report. I am not sure this app will be useful if it relies completely on exposed or infected people to self-report. At the very least users should be able to click somewhere to learn how many new exposures were added daily and how many exposure notifications the app has made. So that way we would have at least some notion that it’s working.

Can't review this app when it doesn't run. After installing on my Pixel 4xl, I try to run it and it says "Internal error, please try again". Subsequent retries are futile as I get the same error repeatedly.

  • Great App - Hoping For Many VA Users Aug 13, 2020

    By Hope For Virginia
The concept and apparent approach to contact tracking via this app will be great if Virginia can advertise to the state and get many people to use the app. Maybe VA can pass out a flyer with info on the app when someone gets tested for COVID-19. It was easy to install and setup. Would be great if there was a status indicator or counters that show that it is actually working. Maybe a status page with a counter showing past encounters with other app users or date and time when another user was nearby,

For battery optimization issue, you can add this app in the "whitelist" so you won't run into the issue.

I've been using this for over 1 hour and still did not find any Pokemon. as to the app, it seems to draw down the battery. unfortunate not enough potential users, and the "where - when" for contacts seems seriously lacking. still have it running because it's all that's offered.

I like the idea but not sure if it's working on all Samsung devices correctly. I believe s9+ is shutting down due to "Optimizing Battery Usage". Need to shut this off or it won't run in background to work. Need more information to consumers most probably don't know.

Drains my battery too much to have bluetooth on all the time and I forget to turn it on the few times I'm near people. I know they don't record location but if there were a way to prompt me to turn bluetooth on when I change location that would be beneficial

I was potentially exposed by my doc at a visit. The app is weak because reporting is optional. A good start. However in a few minutes my wife and I were able to be in the presence of: a vegetable lady, and 4 office co-workers in our local dem office. We duly called them all.i felt like typhoid mary. John.

  • Confusing... Aug 20, 2020

Received a (push?) notification in late evening saying I may have had a potential exposure. This notification even included a Bluetooth data listing for a number of hours previous (though did not appear to indicate when this alleged exposure occurred). In trying to look at this notification more thoroughly in the app, the notification was not in there. Furthermore, the “Exposure” section, indicates I have not had an exposure. So, why did I receive this (alarming) late night notice which disappeared? Did I have an exposure or not?

  • Needs more data Sep 8, 2020

I am a data guy, so naturally I would like to see more data. This App doesn’t show anything until maybe when you are positive or in close contact with someone who is tested positive. This makes using the app not “rewarding” at all! Can’t we just show a few interesting metrics such as how many encounters you have each day? I am in VA, yet I don’t know how many people have the app, and in a normal grocery shopping how many possible encounters that I can have.
