I’m still working through “And the Sun Went Out”, but it’s absolutely incredible so far! The plot and characters are extremely engaging, and it just keeps you wanting for more! There are consequences for your actions, which I definitely like. (Which is a low bar, but it really makes you want to choose the best option.) And I absolutely LOVE the LGBTQ+ inclusion! It made me so much more excited that it existed (and the fact that you didn’t even have to choose romance as an option as well)! There are choice tickets where you typically have to watch ads to get them, but I’m totally fine with that as, a. it’s a free app with free stories, and b. you can just keep watching ads to get more! The app works pretty smoothly and the format is neat and readable (though my only complaint is that you can’t go back a page to figure out what it said if you missed it or accidentally tapped twice). Otherwise, everything is really, really, good, and if you’re interested in choose-your-own-adventure stories, this is definitely one to pick!

This game is enjoyable and interesting in general,i like this type of game, sometimes the story could be complicated but it was fun to play, the choices, the storyline, everything is just so amazing, even tho it takes a long time to wait for a free ticket, but it's worth it to wait. I like how there's an option to watch an add to have more 3 tickets, which i find it helpful to be honest, anyways, this game seriously deserve 5 stars! Like i said, everything is perfect, I really recommend this game.

Many choice-based story games always seem to follow the same formula. Your choices never felt like they mattered and, in the end, they really didn’t. You always ended up at a same (or similar) ending, only slightly altered to fit some of the choices you’d made. But not this game. Every choice felt like it matter. Every little choice could, on one hand, save someone that you’d befriended. But that choice could also as easily get someone killed. It was a toss up and that’s what I liked so much about the stories in this game. It always has you on edge and makes you wonder if you’re making the decision. I’d definitely recommend giving this story game a go and play through each of the stories, especially if you’ve been looking for a ‘real’ choice based game for awhile. Also, I’d recommend purchasing the story pass. Not only does it make the experience a bit more enjoyable, but also allows you to support the developers and the writers who made this incredible game!

The mechanics of the game are fine. The problem for me is the writing.b I've tried two of the stories and they btoh start out fine but turn rather boring or weak after a while. The one with the bear has such a rapid explosion of lore and rule breaking I found myself unable vto continue. Starting out with soul eating is enough. Turning everyone into a spirit animal becomes to confusing and ruins the previously interesting story.

This is now my favorite app. I have just finished 'And The Sun Went Out', and I adored (and slightly hated) the ending. Though I could go into much detail and all the things I loved, I shall not spoil the ending for new comers to this lovely game. Though, I'm a wimp. I get really scared really easily. When I tapped on 'And their Souls were eaten' it said I had to be 13 or older to play this game. I'm 12. I'm slightly scared what I'll encounter when I start this next game when I turn 13. If I get nightmares (which doesn't happen often), I'm deleting the app, but overall, amazing game. I have a few issues to report. First: Sometimes I press a certain choice, and it does the opposite one. I was in a collapsing building and it gave me the option to save someone or run away. I chose 'Save someone', but it had me run away instead. I do not know if this is the actual consequence that happens, or it is actually a glitch. Second: You have spelled a few things wrong. Minor things, really, but I have noticed you spelled 'please' as 'pleaes' and 'on' as 'en'. Not that big a deal, though. This game makes the characters come to life. The wording is amazing, the choices are tough (especially in the end), and the whole aspect of the game is incredible. I am very much excited to be playing 'And Their Souls Were Eaten' and 'And Their Heroes Were Lost'. Great job, Tin Man Games!! ((Etienne and Moti 4 life.)) Sincerely, LupinLover15

Although I have only played two of the stories and completed each of them only once, I can tell that a lot of thought went into each choice. I couldn't ask for anything better from a choice based game, especially one that relies mainly on text. The ticket system ruins the immersion sometimes when you run out of tickets in the middle of the story but the process of acquiring tickets is easy and not that time consuming! A really interesting story based game overall!
  • My favorite CYOA game Nov 20, 2018

This app is just perfect. It encompasses 3 stories right now. I read “and their heroes were lost” first before going back to “and the sun went out.” I love how you get so many choices. Sometimes, you don’t have the information to make an educated choice, and I love that because it’s how the situation would actually be in you were there. The writers really carve out a realistic and believable world for the stories. The music is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I also loved the fact that you can watch a ton of ads to get 3 tickets which is very generous. Although some may say the interface isn’t developed enough as other episodic games, I actually love the simple interface more. It lets you concentrate on the story, the plot, and your imagination rather than cementing how people or situations look. I like a little imaginative space. Nothing but rave compliments for this app!! Definitely buy if you love CYOA games!

602 choices later I just finished reading And The Sun Went Out. Wow. I personally felt really immersed and loved where the story took me. I felt most choices were meaningful and loved how it all tied together. Great story, I really love this format of reading. Bravo to the writers and the rest of the team!

I started playing “And The Sun Went Out” and I was absolutely ensnared by the captivating story! This game is absolutely fantastic! Never have I encountered a choices based game that was as friendly and reasonable as this one! This app never forces a negative outcome that I didn’t outright cause, like other similar games that punish you for being curious and making choices freely. This app builds a wonderful narrative and does not give all the information you want to know right away, I was left wondering who exactly my character was until I explored further in-game. I also extremely enjoy the ticket/choices function where you can wait for tickets or watch 15-30second ads for 3. This is a fantastic system and I can guarantee that I helped the developer’s ad revenue increase significantly! Overall, this is a wonderful app and I can’t wait to finish the first story and start the others!

  • Amazing to poor Sep 14, 2021

I loved this app. The first story And the Sun went out was amazing. Great writing and I felt like my choices really mattered. I think around chapter 7 the writing started to get really bad, and the choices became inconsequential to the story. People showed up that acted like they new me but since I made the choice not to go where they lived I never met them before. The writing would act like someone said something to me but I never had that conversation and again, the writing just turned really bland and repetitive and uninteresting. Almost seemingly completely random. The writers clearly changed and I wanted an ending. But it’s just non stop nonsense with no respect to my choices. How the story changed so rapidly is beyond me. Prob greedy and also wouldn’t pay the writer.
  • Not working with my watch 🤷‍♀️ Jan 24, 2021

    By Steph Marie dods
Doesn’t work with my Apple Watch, even after turning the option on in settings. There are no instructions and after reading most bad reviews are for this reason with no response from the developer. Updates show bug fixes but obviously this isn’t one. I’ve even tried to google how to make it work with no avail. Developer should probably remove this option or respond to critics to solve the issue 🤔. Wanted to love it as much as most but I’m not inclined to play it on my phone if the developers could care less about the one star reviews asking for help. Not my kind of business 👎🏻

I enjoyed using this app for a few years on and off and purchased a subscription to allow me to continue to use the app without interruption. However, the subscription no longer works, despite the fact that they continued to automatically renew it. (And yes, I tried to use the “restore purchase” option to no avail. I was able to secure a refund through Apple, but it’s frustrating and disappointing that the app would take my money without providing any content or service. Messages directly to developer through their website were not returned.
  • Ad Frenzy! Aug 14, 2021

    By Seamusoldfield
Wow. This app sounded really cool and, for about the first 30 seconds, it was. Imagine my surprise when, late at night with my headphones on, a full-screen ad with volume set to maximum, takes over my screen. No way to skip or close it, naturally. I was surprised to see an ad like that so soon after I started the game, but I soldiered on. Then, less than a minute later - bam - another full-screen takeover. That's enough for me! I realize the devs have to make money, but this is just obnoxious. Could have been cool...
  • Ad documentary Sep 5, 2021

    By will delete app.
If you want to watch ads more than you read then this is the perfect app for you not only do you have to watch ads to get tickets or wait for a while to continue reading but even better you also get ads every couple paragraphs which take all of about 30 seconds or less to read. If you want to actually read more than watch ads I suggest looking everywhere but this app.

  • Overall very good Nov 12, 2020

    By lightyearhour
1st story: I really like the Sun story. Pulled me in, and really liked the interaction between Moti and the main character. The ending I got I would consider very good. For a moment I thought it was not going to be good but I was able to turn it around. I will replay this story. 2nd story: it took a little bit to get hooked, but once I had a clear vision of the imagery, I was hooked! This was very interesting and honestly, someone should make a short movie about this. Out of the three, this story made me feel like every choice I made actually mattered. I think the ending I got was the most realistic ending. 3rd story: I liked the premise, and I was hooked instantly. The story dragged as I got into the middle, and found myself skipping through a lot of dialogue. Some of the choices in the middle seemed redundant or it would ask me to make a choice on events that didn’t seem impactful. I want to play it again and see if I get a better ending. Edit: just finished my 2nd play through of the 3rd story. It really takes you for a ride. And what makes this one stand out is that it takes you on a wildly different journey than the first playthrough. I think I got a good ending but it ended so abruptly! I will play again and see if I can save all of camp amnesia.

Finished the first two stories. The Sun Went Out was excellent, I really felt that my choices mattered and the story was interesting. No complaints here. Their Souls Were Eaten was an absolute disaster. Don't even waste your time with it, nothing makes sense. Several choices clearly had no impact and the game forces you to take a certain direction. The ending was terrible. You could tell that this one was half-baked. And stop being so stingy with the tickets. Very annoying.
  • Very enjoyable, would love one more option setting Oct 6, 2020

    By Meh x 1000
I’m excited to explore all the titles offered in this app, because so far the stories are engrossing and suspenseful. I love choose-your-own adventures and this game presents them in a pleasing way. Except for one little thing, the blink tap icon is very distracting for my ADHD. It seems that it might be late for this BUT can there be an option to turn it off? Otherwise I am reading and rereading a lot which makes me want to exit the app often. If this is an easy enough fix I would rate this 5 stars.
  • Amazing game Dec 21, 2017

By That girl that likes anime
This app has great stories that keep you engaged as long as you have "choice tickets". They allow you to make a decision and progress the story. You can purchase them or get free ones every few hours. I'm totally fine with this system (gotta make a profit somehow). I like to hoard up a bunch of free tickets and then get to binge read. I was saving them up again and had 18 of them but after I updated the app they got reset. Oh well. This is still one of the best text adventure stories that I have found though!

I enjoyed the story. The dialogue was a little off in parts but as a whole the narrative was excellent. There were some good twists and turns. I’ve only gone through once I plan on going through several more times to see what the different endings are. I like how at the end of each arc it tells you the percentage of people that are in the same position as you

I never would have believed I’d EVER type [much less think/feel] what I am about to ~ because books... real books, w/pages to turn, and weight you heft, and that smell so familiar, are so very indescribably important to me ~ but my first encounter w/this technology has been wonderful and I just want to thank whoever came up w/the initial idea of creating interactive stories ~ and this app’s creators, of course!!!! Thank you, very much.
  • Pretty good. Would be better if I wasn’t so cheap. Jun 18, 2019

I was actually quite enjoying this app. The only problem I really had was dealing with the tickets but watching ads to replenish them helped me get a break instead of losing myself in the story. Would’ve gave 5 stars if I didn’t have to deal with them at all but it is free so beggars can’t be choosers. 4 stars should do.

Enjoying this game, interesting story, but a few things bugging me; I'm on Arc 12 and I don't feel like I'm any closer to finding out what is going on. It seems like there's one diversion after another and a lot of the choices don't progress the story. I also feel like I'm being forced to make romantic choices between major characters. The game takes certain choices as green flags for romance but I just want to progress the story! Entertaining enough but I am slowly losing interest
  • Wish it had a backup button May 28, 2021

The story is good and interesting, making me want to find out more. I wish there was a backup button so I can re-read text as I have accidentally clicked through a couple times before finishing the current paragraph. (Or if there is one or it’s a gesture, it’s not obvious) There are also LOTS of adds.. I wish they were always after the choices instead of sometimes a few lines before because I get distracted from the story and because I cannot backup and re-read the text, I get lost.
  • Stories Are Nice, But.. Aug 6, 2021

It's very hard to stay invested in the stories when there's so many ads. I can only make it past four to five paragraphs tops before the game gives me an ad, it ruins the experience for me and takes away a lot of the tension the stories are trying to build up in the first place. If you guys could space out the ads to trigger only when you're making a choice or something, the game would be a lot more enjoyable. But sadly, there's way too many ads for me to like this app, so I'm gonna go ahead and uninstall

I was really excited to download Choices that Matter, as I had been looking for a non-romantic choose your own adventure app for a while now. But when I open the app, the screen just flashes black and returns straight to my home screen! I re-downloaded it several more times and tried again, but the same thing kept on happening. How do I solve this issue?
  • Don’t know anything about Chinese May 30, 2018

    By Secret Whisper
I’m surprised that the Australian government, which cooperated in making this game, doesn’t know that there are no such things as Chinese characters on a Chinese keyboard. The Chinese language has thousands of characters, and it would be impossible to fit them all on a keyboard. We use the English keyboard same as most other countries that have a primary language other than English.

Doesn’t work with my Apple Watch, even after turning the option on in settings. There are no instructions and after reading most bad reviews are for this reason with no response from the developer. Updates show bug fixes but obviously this isn’t one. I’ve even tried to google how to make it work with no avail. Developer should probably remove this option or respond to critics to solve the issue 🤔. Wanted to love it as much as most but I’m not inclined to play it on my phone if the developers could care less about the one star reviews asking for help. Not my kind of business 👎🏻
  • Subscription stopped working Feb 14, 2019

    By Calibos77
