I like the game, but it's quite buggy. Switching the shortcuts will crash the game from time to time. The control is quite bad, and you can't hope to beat the game with it (Try doing invert several times). Thankfully there is controller support, but often you can't jump anymore after opening a chest with the touch control (and I can't figure out how to interact with the chest with controller).

I have played this game on PS4 and also the dreaded switch version. I would rather play the unpatched switch version then the mobile port. It looks ok and if you have a high end device (I use the 11 pro max) there is hardly and frame rate issues. HOWEVER, the touch controls are horrible. The response time is so delayed and the button placement takes some getting used to. I’ve missed countless jumps and taken so much unnecessary damage because of bad controls. Now I have not tried this with a controller, and that may be what saves this game from being deleted off my phone. I have SotN and it is the same way, the touch controls there are not delayed like this game but they are just finicky, I think SotN touch controls are better than this game. I will update after I have tried this with a controller. UPDATE: using the razer Kishi controller (plugged in, not Bluetooth) the controls are much better. BUT you cannot use the controller in the menu, you still need the touch screen for that. Also the button layout is not the most convenient and the touch controls stay on the screen even when using controller. So yes it does make it better but I think this game has still got a ways to go before it can be considered a great port

awesome game just like Castlevania except with better graphics I would have gave five stars but the controls need a little work. actually everything is perfect but the jump button does not jump all the time. what I mean by that is when I hold it to jump to the highest jump it just doesn't do it all the time. other than that awesome game keep it up now let me get back to it LOL

NEEDS CONTROLLER SUPPORT. This game is indeed hardcore which makes the use of the on screen controls a big joke. I need the response time of tactile button presses, man. I play DEAD CELLS on my phone with a controller and I can sit for hours. I feel like this would get the same kind of love if I could just unleash skill on it properly.

I usually don’t complain, but my main issue is there are times I’m at the start of boss fight, and tried to skip and game will crash, same thing when I went to kill Gebel early in the game, because I’m playing blindly and never realized that was the end, after the credits, game won’t load anymore, please fix this, it’s not worth of $10 if the game is full of bugs, I’d rather go back to my Sotn, that game is perfect even transferred in iOS, so please fix them. And can u guys add like arrow keys for movements instead of analog, the weapon skills are hard to perform even there’s shortcut, in sotn ios i can perform like 50 - 80 gravity boots jump with the librarian without problems, my point is i know this is ios platform but graphics in game we don’t care that much, but performance wise like skill and the 8-bit boots omg is like sliding in ice before u can run. Loading and some minor bugs are ok and we are paying even how many dlc u guys put as long as u guys fix major problems asap.

60 fps with medium settings on an S21. The only thing I don't like is the fact that you have to tap every button. It makes aerial combat a little difficult, because you stop gaining height as soon as you let go of jump. There is an assist option that always maxes out your jumps, but it disables short hops. An option that enables inputs simply by sliding over the buttons would be nice. It's still a good port though. I like having real console/PC experiences on mobile, and this is a good one.

I think this is a good attempt to put Bloodstained into mobile so I’ll give credit for that. However, the touchscreen controls sometimes delay on command so that need to be fixed, slowdown sometimes affect the game and the graphics need to be polished because it’s a little washed out. Also fix the sounds when you leave the game on sleep mode. This can be a good time but it needs to be fixed for a better experience. Update: I’m glad you guys are updating the game to its best, and I appreciate everything that you’re doing of making this game better. Update 2: Can you guys fix the graphics flickering, because it’s kinda distracting.

Great game but not very optimized. I'm running it on a Galaxy s8 sd 835 and it's at times quite sluggish. In sharp contrast pascals wager runs like butter. Kinda hard sometimes but loads of loot to gather and use. But considering the difficulty level I would hope it runs more smooth. Even at the lowest settings on 30fps it's still not completely smooth. Please optimize. I'll change my rating.

I own this game on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and now on IOS. This games is really good, please don’t expect PS4 performance from your phone there is some slow down on levels like the tower. The reason I gave it four stars is because when you use a controller the icons are still on the screen, other than that the game is well worth the asking price. Easily one of my favorite games enough to justify a third purchase.

Always up for a full console port on mobile. The quality is here and it plays well but it can benefit from a bit more optimization in regards to framerate and slowdowns. The graphics look great to me on epic settings. The music and the art is beautiful. The touch controls are good although they could be better. It's definitely a good game overall and worth the price. There are two extra characters you can use, one after finishing the game and the other right at the start to enhance replayability

  • Not operable for me. Jan 10, 2021

I waited until they said they would be updating the issues with frame rate and poorly optimized controls. There is a good game here, that I want to play and finish, but can't in it's current state. There are plenty of games that I can play proficiently with virtual controls. For similar games like Dead Cells, I can beat the game only using virtual controls. The jump button is like shooting dice. Sometimes it registers, lots of times it doesn't. Or it will register I pressed jump, but only for a moment. Maneuvering around enemies is a crap-shoot, and further into the castle, platforming becomes crucial, and 30% of the time I jump, it only registers for a moment, resulting in a short jump, which can mean falling all the way to the bottom of the structure you are trying to ascend. Even when staring at the positions of the virtual controls, and seeing I definitely pressed it, it still won't register. For me it is unplayable after advancing through the cathedral. It results in a lot of death because dodging (sticking with the previous analogies) is a gamble. I would give the developers a break if there weren't a ton of games with virtual controls that do work, but that isn't the case.

Terrible controls, no dodge roll and a horrific checkpoint system. I beat the first boss watched a load of cutscenes, moved to the next area, watched even more cutscenes and tutorials for crafting, using the store etc, died and got put back to before the first boss...

*latest june update slightly improved performance, still needs more work.* 1 star to 2 star as a result. I'm playing this on my samsung tab s6. I'm getting some weird stutters no matter if i'm on 30/60 fps or low vs epic graphics settings. This game needs more optimization. I'll update my review if they improve performance. Please fix...
  • Why?! Dec 22, 2020

    By Pops.99
A great game ruined by garbage on-screen controls. Jumping is just too inconsistent when also trying to run, which is a main mechanic for platformers. It’s just not fluid enough. While running, tap on shoe (jump) and watch Miriam maybe jump to her max height… or find her only able to jump a quarter to half her max height and fall from a higher region of the map/castle (if you’ve even made it up there initially) and you have to start that climbing process all over. This isn’t Chutes n’ Ladders, and where in the world are the QA testers before this mess gets sent out for folks to purchase and play?! For heaven’s sake…. Unplayable until they fix this to save self from frustration. 🤦🏾‍♂️😩

Needs better controller support. No remapping, and can't navigate menus with controller, and the on-screen can't be disabled. The worst, though, is I can't get passed the first boss (or at least I assume it's a boss) on the ship without crashing.
  • Poor Controls Mar 4, 2021

    By TFisher75
There is an excellent game here in theory. But upon playing, the virtual buttons intermittently become unresponsive depending on location, oddly. You enter a certain room or area, suddenly the jump or attack button gets buggy. I adapted to this for most of the game, but later with the difficulty spike, the buggy controls made certain rooms or boss fights excessively difficult to the point of nearly impossible. One late boss fight and the directional button was glitchy in that room, and after 15+ attempts I'd had enough and deleted the game.

1 star until I can use my controller (Razer Kishi) with it. Looks great but onscreen controls are horrendous. Learn from Dead Cells, best console/mobile game on the Play Store. I'll up to 5 stars once full controller support is implemented, not until.

Do the touch controls leave a little bit to b desired-yes....is the frame rate a little slower than the other versions of this game-yes.....but honestly WHO CARES?!?!? This is an amazing game from legendary developers released on IOS for us to enjoy so quit all the whining and nitpicking, this game is overall AWSOME and frankly what else do we have to get our “castlevania fix” ???? I’ll tell u-no where....sure SON is on IOS now and it will forever hold its place in gaming history but Bloodstained blows it away in every sense - minor issues and all.....so from one massive castlevania fan to the devs of this game- THANK U....THANK U FROM THE ABSOLUTE BOTTOME OF MY HEART FOR BRINGING THIS TO IOS !!!!
  • New update brings 60fps and controller support! Feb 2, 2021

I was waiting for this update. I’ve been eyeing the game on console but I usually play COD or Apex on console. I told myself it would be perfect for mobile and then the mobile version was released and I knew I had to get it. But the reviews for it complained about the controls, so I waited for the update and I’m glad I did. Really great game, reminds me of castlevania except it’s with a girl (that happened only like twice in the series I believe). The art work is very DMC and I’m talking like the first 3 games, not the recent ones. It’s a good game! If you’re thinking about getting it you should

TO ANYONE READING, PLAY THID GAME WITH A CONTROLLER! I’ve waited awhile to play this game. When I first heard about it I was excited. Being SOTN fan it hit me in the feels. It’s a very good port, the A13 chip handles the game very well. The only gripe I have is that the controls aren’t as responsive as they could be. It you could tweak them a lil it would be excellent. Maybe I’m just spoiled from how fluid it is to play Genshin Impact. It needs that twitch style gameplay. Price was right on though

recent update making this game run much more smoothly, the framerate still dip on the unloaded area but it's better gaming experience overall. some of my initial issues seems to also been resolved. the minor complaint is the 16bit and 32bit ambivalence are still not able to switch element properly.

As a big fun of SotN, I bought this game immediately when I saw it. I’ve played this for two days and I love it. This game is the best iOS game I ever played. Thanks! *Updates: Have played it for 70 hrs so far. Love it so much! Please fix the Boss Rush Mode bugs and added more DLC. It definitely worth every dollars! I don’t understand, there should be 10 times more people playing this game.

Can’t believe this is on mobile and at such a great price. It looks and runs great on my iPhone 11. Phone does get hot with 60fps enabled. I use a Razer Kishi controller and for the most part it’s great. Sometimes I am forced to use touchscreen like in the menu for example. As for the game, you all know, it’s Iga at his best. This looks, sounds and plays like all the best 2D castlevania games.

The game looks better than the Switch port...and that's a shame on the team that made that port, but this is a really solid port for Mobile. My only (and biggest) gripe is the horrible Controller support. They really need to implement better integration with BT Controllers. The problem is that despite detecting a controller, on-screen controls remain and actually are expected to be used for menu interaction which defeats the purpose of having a controller. Fix that please!

The controls can be funky, and at times the freamrate just drags, even in 60fps, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It would be nice to have achievements linked to play games, but all in all its getting there.

I had this game on the switch and I believe it plays better on here for the most part. Only issue for me is that I noticed depending on what weapon I have equipped, it can be difficult to break lamps with the jump and attack button. The timing is too complicated without physical buttons. Developers maybe you can squeeze in a additional button in between jump and attack to make this easier to achieve. Thanks!

I love this game, this is my third time buying it. The port so far seems pretty solid with the exception of full controller support. While the main gameplay does support the controller, there are a few things that should be improved. Please remove the on-screen controls while a physical controller is being used. Please let the controller work in the map and other menus. Do this and it is easily a 5-star game.

I just bought this and when i try to play it says "no google play store key: no obb found and no store key to try to download. Please set one up in android project settings." Got it working but i had to uninstall tai chi xposed (which is absolutely ridiculous btw) and now I get a white screen at the first boss fight. I seriously wish i had refunded it in time and just downloaded the cracked version. So the game scans device to see what apps you have and developers don't answer you. 1 star

Played this game on switch originally. iPad version with 60 FPS and large screen looks so much better! Almost perfect game except for the partial controller support. I need to constantly lean forward to close a screen or to change an equipment. Also with new iPad M1 game stays perfectly in memory. So you can browse or watch a movie and then get back to where you were!

  • Great game, terrible controller support Feb 14, 2021

    By Allen Shull
Great game, but it’s insulting to ship it with controller support this lackluster. From the first, the game lies to you: “Click anywhere”; it’s a touchscreen, the controller doesn’t work there, and you can only tap on those words and nowhere else. From then it continues. Menus can’t be navigated and screen buttons barely dim (and sometimes don’t at all). There are so many menus, and I have to set my controller down and reach out and touch the screen each time I get a new weapon or shard, which happens every minute or so. Shameful. But, again, great game. I keep playing because the game is great, even if I have to keep moving my hand off the controller to tap the screen.

This game is great, but it need some basic tweaks for the PS4 controller. Like, let us use it on the menus please and make the option button open the menu. Controller also doesn’t work if you turn it on while the game is open. Another annoying thing is there is no option to hide the UI buttons when I’m using the controller, so it’s all cluttered with the virtual analog stick and all the attack icons. This is a great looking game I wish I could just see it.

I own this on the PS4 and the switch already but had to try this version as well. It’s a good game but it does have some slowdown and the touch controls leave a little to be desired. I can’t really blame that on the game seeing how it’s a port of a game that is meant to use a controller. I don’t like how when you use a controller the touch icons are still on the screen. All in all it’s a good game it just has a few little issues that are holding it back from a higher score.

Could be a knockout , not bad but def not great considering it could be. Controller support def need cleaned up and perf/stability ( otg PS4 - snapdragon 835 6gb ) swapping from sticks to touchscreen rough and dpad issues. Needs better keymap and otg should be flawless no lag. Same with general gameplay , will check update but as is only 3 ish just doesn't feel cohesive and smooth. Trying not be hard but mobile is new standard and already restricted DL to capable units. Clean up arnd edges.

Changing it to 2 stars. I've been stuck in the log in with Google in the main menu for several hours now and I tried to repair the client and still the same thing. Once you've downloaded the DLC it prompts u to log in but then gets you stuck once you do so. PLEASE FIX

Terrible controls, no dodge roll and a horrific checkpoint system. I beat the first boss watched a load of cutscenes, moved to the next area, watched even more cutscenes and tutorials for crafting, using the store etc, died and got put back to before the first boss...

Needs better controller support. No remapping, and can't navigate menus with controller, and the on-screen can't be disabled. The worst, though, is I can't get passed the first boss (or at least I assume it's a boss) on the ship without crashing.

1 star until I can use my controller (Razer Kishi) with it. Looks great but onscreen controls are horrendous. Learn from Dead Cells, best console/mobile game on the Play Store. I'll up to 5 stars once full controller support is implemented, not until.
