  • Really Good/ But! Mar 8, 2021

I am loving this game. I have about 10 hours in it so far. I played the older Castlevania games when I was a kid and this lives up to those perfectly. If you are into metroidvania style games then do yourself a favor and play this game. The graphics are really good on epic on my IPhone XS Max. It does make my phone warm but not bad. Now onto the bad, which isn’t that bad . The controls are a bit sluggish at times. Most of the time they are perfect, but for some reason every now and then I button push won’t register. It happens with a controller and with touchscreen controls. Other than that the game has been absolutely fantastic. Once the controls are fixed I will change to 5 stars.

I have played this game on PS4 and also the dreaded switch version. I would rather play the unpatched switch version then the mobile port. It looks ok and if you have a high end device (I use the 11 pro max) there is hardly and frame rate issues. HOWEVER, the touch controls are horrible. The response time is so delayed and the button placement takes some getting used to. I’ve missed countless jumps and taken so much unnecessary damage because of bad controls. Now I have not tried this with a controller, and that may be what saves this game from being deleted off my phone. I have SotN and it is the same way, the touch controls there are not delayed like this game but they are just finicky, I think SotN touch controls are better than this game. I will update after I have tried this with a controller. UPDATE: using the razer Kishi controller (plugged in, not Bluetooth) the controls are much better. BUT you cannot use the controller in the menu, you still need the touch screen for that. Also the button layout is not the most convenient and the touch controls stay on the screen even when using controller. So yes it does make it better but I think this game has still got a ways to go before it can be considered a great port

Bloodstained is an excellent game, this mobile port is almost perfect and it runs decently on my phone. But it needs full gamepad support, as of this review touchscreen controls are still visible when you use a gamepad and menus can only be controlled using touchscreen. Also the game crashes if the gamepad gets disconnected.

One of the best games on the mobile market. It may not look as good as the PC/console versions, and not have controller support (as of this review[?]), and it may not run properly or at all on some devices. But all those flaws are greatly overshadowed by having a metroidvania of it's scale and complexity (and music and atmosphere) on the go. Amazing game and an amazing price to boot. Earns every star. You will be, seriously, hard pressed to find a more enjoyable phone/tablet RPG.

I usually don’t complain, but my main issue is there are times I’m at the start of boss fight, and tried to skip and game will crash, same thing when I went to kill Gebel early in the game, because I’m playing blindly and never realized that was the end, after the credits, game won’t load anymore, please fix this, it’s not worth of $10 if the game is full of bugs, I’d rather go back to my Sotn, that game is perfect even transferred in iOS, so please fix them. And can u guys add like arrow keys for movements instead of analog, the weapon skills are hard to perform even there’s shortcut, in sotn ios i can perform like 50 - 80 gravity boots jump with the librarian without problems, my point is i know this is ios platform but graphics in game we don’t care that much, but performance wise like skill and the 8-bit boots omg is like sliding in ice before u can run. Loading and some minor bugs are ok and we are paying even how many dlc u guys put as long as u guys fix major problems asap.

I think this is a good attempt to put Bloodstained into mobile so I’ll give credit for that. However, the touchscreen controls sometimes delay on command so that need to be fixed, slowdown sometimes affect the game and the graphics need to be polished because it’s a little washed out. Also fix the sounds when you leave the game on sleep mode. This can be a good time but it needs to be fixed for a better experience. Update: I’m glad you guys are updating the game to its best, and I appreciate everything that you’re doing of making this game better. Update 2: Can you guys fix the graphics flickering, because it’s kinda distracting.

I own this game on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and now on IOS. This games is really good, please don’t expect PS4 performance from your phone there is some slow down on levels like the tower. The reason I gave it four stars is because when you use a controller the icons are still on the screen, other than that the game is well worth the asking price. Easily one of my favorite games enough to justify a third purchase.

  • Not operable for me. Jan 10, 2021

    By TeamNonin
I waited until they said they would be updating the issues with frame rate and poorly optimized controls. There is a good game here, that I want to play and finish, but can't in it's current state. There are plenty of games that I can play proficiently with virtual controls. For similar games like Dead Cells, I can beat the game only using virtual controls. The jump button is like shooting dice. Sometimes it registers, lots of times it doesn't. Or it will register I pressed jump, but only for a moment. Maneuvering around enemies is a crap-shoot, and further into the castle, platforming becomes crucial, and 30% of the time I jump, it only registers for a moment, resulting in a short jump, which can mean falling all the way to the bottom of the structure you are trying to ascend. Even when staring at the positions of the virtual controls, and seeing I definitely pressed it, it still won't register. For me it is unplayable after advancing through the cathedral. It results in a lot of death because dodging (sticking with the previous analogies) is a gamble. I would give the developers a break if there weren't a ton of games with virtual controls that do work, but that isn't the case.

Horrible experience. Game is glitchy for starters, then when I get to the first boss, the cut scene partially comes on then just goes to a white screen but game still plays in the background. Waste of money, don't bother buying it!

BUGSTAINED Again i am leaving this on 1 star still laggy.. controls are slightly improved but still lags and delayed or missed input due to lag. Low settings still te same lag. BOSS RUSH MODE BUGGED SECOND FIGHT ON EASY EMPTY ROOM. BUGSTAINED!!!
  • Why?! Dec 22, 2020

    By Pops.99
A great game ruined by garbage on-screen controls. Jumping is just too inconsistent when also trying to run, which is a main mechanic for platformers. It’s just not fluid enough. While running, tap on shoe (jump) and watch Miriam maybe jump to her max height… or find her only able to jump a quarter to half her max height and fall from a higher region of the map/castle (if you’ve even made it up there initially) and you have to start that climbing process all over. This isn’t Chutes n’ Ladders, and where in the world are the QA testers before this mess gets sent out for folks to purchase and play?! For heaven’s sake…. Unplayable until they fix this to save self from frustration. 🤦🏾‍♂️😩

This is SO disappointing... I hate to leave a bad review because I love this game. (If the issue is fixed I will update my review.) Unfortunately it's just broken. The game doesn't even launch. It's stuck on the Netease logo for like 10 minutes. Edit: Just bought a new phone, installed thinking it might work on this one. It doesn't. It shows the Netease logo, then immediately crashes.

I really enjoy the game itself, first played on ps4. Playing on a Galaxy S10 currently and having controller issues. Connects to Xbox one controller fine through wire, with some lag issues... Is there a reason it won't work with Bluetooth ps4 controller?? It connects to my phone easily just won't respond in game. Would help with overheating issues, as well as being able to charge and play at the same time.
  • Poor Controls Mar 4, 2021

    By TFisher75
There is an excellent game here in theory. But upon playing, the virtual buttons intermittently become unresponsive depending on location, oddly. You enter a certain room or area, suddenly the jump or attack button gets buggy. I adapted to this for most of the game, but later with the difficulty spike, the buggy controls made certain rooms or boss fights excessively difficult to the point of nearly impossible. One late boss fight and the directional button was glitchy in that room, and after 15+ attempts I'd had enough and deleted the game.

Worked fine on my old phone. I bought a Motorola Edge, transfered all my games over. When I open this one it says it has no store key or OBB. Will not open and run. Looks like there is a way to fix it. I should not have to do it though they should. I do not recommend. Play it on console or Steam. I hate spending money on s*#! that does not work.

ONLY GET THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE A GOOD PHONE. You will only know of pain if you try to play this game without the 60fps mode on. Even with 60fps and a top flagship phone you will still experience hiccups. Needs drastic improvement on the performance issues Severely lacking QoL features aimed for mobile such as quick-save. Not being able to save anywhere is fine in consoles and PC but not for mobile. It brings the bloodstained experience into mobile but is not optimized for mobile yet.

I was waiting for this update. I’ve been eyeing the game on console but I usually play COD or Apex on console. I told myself it would be perfect for mobile and then the mobile version was released and I knew I had to get it. But the reviews for it complained about the controls, so I waited for the update and I’m glad I did. Really great game, reminds me of castlevania except it’s with a girl (that happened only like twice in the series I believe). The art work is very DMC and I’m talking like the first 3 games, not the recent ones. It’s a good game! If you’re thinking about getting it you should

Thanks! *Updates: Have played it for 70 hrs so far. Love it so much! Please fix the Boss Rush Mode bugs and added more DLC. It definitely worth every dollars! I don’t understand, there should be 10 times more people playing this game.

Can’t believe this is on mobile and at such a great price. It looks and runs great on my iPhone 11. Phone does get hot with 60fps enabled. I use a Razer Kishi controller and for the most part it’s great. Sometimes I am forced to use touchscreen like in the menu for example. As for the game, you all know, it’s Iga at his best. This looks, sounds and plays like all the best 2D castlevania games.

I had this game on the switch and I believe it plays better on here for the most part. Only issue for me is that I noticed depending on what weapon I have equipped, it can be difficult to break lamps with the jump and attack button. The timing is too complicated without physical buttons. Developers maybe you can squeeze in a additional button in between jump and attack to make this easier to achieve. Thanks!

it's a great game but with some apparent problems. firstly control, you drag the dpad instead of tapping it making it abit unresposive. also since the buttons are on the screen it sometimes covers some stuff. i wish there's more control and transparancy options. it's also abit buggy, like how after some play session some of the buttons won't respond to your tapping, requiring you to restart. there's also still quite laggy at times. wish these problems can be fixed.

Edit: I can finally play this game, don't know what happened but I can play "properly" now. The game is really fun and challenging, perfect for those who wants a true castlevania or metroid styled game. Now it would be 5 stars if the touch screen controls didn't work against the player but no game can be perfect... This get very close to it though so try it. :)
  • Almost Perfect Dec 3, 2020

I love this game, this is my third time buying it. The port so far seems pretty solid with the exception of full controller support. While the main gameplay does support the controller, there are a few things that should be improved. Please remove the on-screen controls while a physical controller is being used. Please let the controller work in the map and other menus. Do this and it is easily a 5-star game.

I’ve waited awhile to play this game. When I first heard about it I was excited. Being SOTN fan it hit me in the feels. It’s a very good port, the A13 chip handles the game very well. The only gripe I have is that the controls aren’t as responsive as they could be. It you could tweak them a lil it would be excellent. Maybe I’m just spoiled from how fluid it is to play Genshin Impact. It needs that twitch style gameplay. Price was right on though
  • Great game, needs controller support Dec 5, 2020

    By GabeGane
This is great port. I’m amazed that they were able to bring this to mobile. However, this game REALLY NEEDS controller support. You can sort of use a controller but it’s not perfect. Plus, the onscreen buttons stay. And you can’t pause using a controller. You need to use a mix of controller and touch. With controller support this game would easily be 5 star. Also some glitches. Times when I would travel into another section and it would just stay forever on the loading screen. Still, I’m amazed they got this game on mobile. It’s a great start. Looking forward to updates and fixes.

  • Great game, terrible controller support Feb 14, 2021

    By Allen Shull
Great game, but it’s insulting to ship it with controller support this lackluster. From the first, the game lies to you: “Click anywhere”; it’s a touchscreen, the controller doesn’t work there, and you can only tap on those words and nowhere else. From then it continues. Menus can’t be navigated and screen buttons barely dim (and sometimes don’t at all). There are so many menus, and I have to set my controller down and reach out and touch the screen each time I get a new weapon or shard, which happens every minute or so. Shameful. But, again, great game. I keep playing because the game is great, even if I have to keep moving my hand off the controller to tap the screen.

This game is great, but it need some basic tweaks for the PS4 controller. Like, let us use it on the menus please and make the option button open the menu. Controller also doesn’t work if you turn it on while the game is open. Another annoying thing is there is no option to hide the UI buttons when I’m using the controller, so it’s all cluttered with the virtual analog stick and all the attack icons. This is a great looking game I wish I could just see it.

I own this on the PS4 and the switch already but had to try this version as well. It’s a good game but it does have some slowdown and the touch controls leave a little to be desired. I can’t really blame that on the game seeing how it’s a port of a game that is meant to use a controller. I don’t like how when you use a controller the touch icons are still on the screen. All in all it’s a good game it just has a few little issues that are holding it back from a higher score.

Horrible experience. Game is glitchy for starters, then when I get to the first boss, the cut scene partially comes on then just goes to a white screen but game still plays in the background. Waste of money, don't bother buying it!
