Just like the other Syntaxity games, this one provides a few hours of hunting, searching, and puzzle solving. Nothing annoyingly tricky here puzzle-wise, but enough to scratch that puzzle solving itch. I like that the Syntaxity games make an effort to have the game tell a story, even if they are a tad silly. I also really appreciate that the games don’t revolve around darkness, psychological scariness, blood, and gloom as seems to be the trend with some in this genre. This is just me, but I prefer to solve puzzles without the lurking threat of zombies, mutants, monsters, and evil cabals (which is why I’m such a fan of the House of DaVinci games). Longer and more complex than the original Blackthorn Castle (which I also liked), if you enjoyed others in this series, you’ll get your money’s worth on this one. The Enchanted Worlds and Rescue the Enchanter are my other faves from Syntaxity. As with all of their games, this one does offer hints, but you shouldn’t need them, if you’re patient. This game, like all the others, also offers an ability to zip around the expansive map (over 100 different locations in this one), if you want to spend an extra $.99 for that feature (I don’t particularly mind tromping back and forth, since a second, third, or fourth look at a location often reveals something I missed the first time). Good addition to the lineup.

A nice way to spend an evening. The puzzles were more of a challenge than the first one. Got stuck a few times because a couple of the clues just didnt make sense. I still dont know how I solved one of the puzzles, I just fiddled around until it worked. If you get stuck, remember to use the hedge clippers and fish more than once...

Thank you Syntaxity as this was just what I asked for. This is the same basic premise but more & different puzzles, and this you have to pay for. At least that way you can be relatively sure you are getting a good game & without unwanted ads which I must point out have NEVER been present in any Syntaxity game. And this game is great. I highly downloading this or any of the series. I thoroughly enjoy all of them. Thank you, Candy

Fantastic and absorbing game. Beautiful graphics. Worth buying the hint package as not entirely straight forward, but that is part of this beautiful experience this game offers!

  • Enjoy these...HOWEVER...BUYER BEWARE! Sep 20, 2020

I like to play these but the puzzles are the same from one game to the next. Once you’ve played one, you’ve played them all. I wish that the company wasn’t so greedy to stick it to the loyal buyers who have bought their games for many years, and helped them stay in business. After paying the $4 for the game, you must then pay an additional $1 for an extra feature (which should be included as part of the game)....once you move, it comes to a scene and notifies you that you’ve unlocked a scene used for “Fast Travel”....but then to get to use “Fast Travel” (allowing you to jump to sections of the paths, where you can skip having to constantly be tapping the same screens to go back & forth after you’ve found an item you need -but need it on the far opposite side of the landscape map),you’ve got to pay up the extra $1.....! C’mon guys! So ridiculous! I understand charging a $1 for unlocking “Hints”....many companies do that. But the feature of Fast Travel -if you’re going to put it up as a feature, it SHOULD NOT be an additional cost. If you want to just flat out charge $5 for you game, then do that.

This particular Sytaxity mystery hunt was especially challenging, which is not why I makea complaint. I think the developers need to go back, play this game for themselves. NOTE how disjointed some of the provided hints are in connection to the actual challenge or puzzle to be complete. ALSO, I play these types of games fir enjoyment. This one was too aggravating. I usually like to replay games over & over to challenge how fast I can complete them, but this was the exception.

I've enjoyed their past games a lot, but this one is a NO! Some puzzles are intuitive but others are really deceptive & clues are incomprehensible. Even after watching video clues on several I was baffled about how the non-video & video clues connected. They seem to be giving completely different information. I'm giving up on this one & hope I can get a refund.

While I have every game from Syntaxity , this is by far the worst when it comes to clues. Nothing makes sense! The clues do not help one bit. It is extremely frustrating!! The graphics are phenomenal. The length of the game is awesome! But the clues to the puzzles are absolutely useless!!!!! They do not make sense at all!!! Please take this into consideration with your next game. Have the clues make sense!!

There were TWO cases of clues to puzzle solutions that were useless or even misleading that I found before ending play midway through. 1: At the dials in the locker. 2: Where the bronze gears are. In both cases I must cry foul! Anybody reading this please STAY AWAY from this app!

This game was so fun. You must have hints and fast travel to complete though! It's worth the extra 2 dollars though! 5 stars!

  • It’s hard. And the 8’s puzzle needs explanation Aug 26, 2020

    By Blichty
I just finished and it took a week playing - a few hours at a time. It’s definitely hard, but I will say that all but one puzzle can be solved without a hint and that was the 8s puzzle - I managed to solve it randomly and then watched the walkthrough afterward and I still have no idea what the logic was. But again, the other puzzles are all solvable and make sense. As well in most scenes there isn’t much to interact with nor collect which isn’t an issue, but you may pass by a needed item in the two or three scenes they decided to sneak one in which was frustrating going back and forth to look for sure. A note for the devs, once you establish that the user doesn’t have to click much to locate items, you can’t then halfway through the game hide something with a very small tap radius in a scene. Anyway, I was happy to play a game from this dev that was more challenging than their other offerings.

Good game overall and enjoyed solving it. Some puzzles / clues are a bit vague but overall challenging enough to be fun. My reason for 4 stars are the ingame purchases (especially the fast travel one). I found this rather absurd after having bought the game. Usually one buys something to be able to use it fully and without restrictions...

Good follow up to the first. A couple of puzzles obscure, one of which I got by chance rather than deduction. The only real criticism is paying extra, not for tips (if you can't do it you shouldn't be playing it and tips are free through YouTube anyway), but for avoiding the backwards and forwards travel, which is dull and slows the game down. This should be included in the original purchase price, even if it means paying extra. Well constructed and interesting other than that.

I love the series. I love this game. I only have 2 pieces of confusion. The first is that the flute puzzle doesn't connect with it's clue. It tells me to play incorrect notes. My second problem is when I try to restart the game after having beaten it, unless I close the app the backpack doesn't show up. I otherwise love how long you made the game, and how engaging it was.

confusion, the clues were almost non relatable, more obvious needed and less vauge, the codes on doors were easily cracked three clues still in my pack. Repeated challenges, one troll for interaction and a Mouse. Medevil period with clocks, Steel combination lock cabinet by a telegraph pole, plumbing, mirrors etc. Some sense of period would have been better. I know it's fantasy but a little more realistic is better. Propper lock picking challenge, not guessing you make a potion etc. Ok though

There’s no reward system with any of these Syntaxity games- 90% of the puzzles are solved by finding in-game clues verses using intellect. Once the puzzle is solved you find yourself facing another ludicrous puzzle instead of receiving inventory; then you have to travel all over the map bouncing here and back just to find more completely useless clues. Go to scene 8, then back to scene 43 then back to screen 5,627 haha, what a hassle! The puzzles are often so obscure and nonsensical that even WITH the clue they still make no sense; they are completely void of reason. Seriously all the puzzles would only make sense to the developer. All Syntaxity games are basically the same game over and over again with little to differentiate. Nonetheless I find myself playing; it harnesses a moderate enjoyability through smooth controls yet mediocre environments.

1st one was better. Several puzzles here don't make sense or are arbitrary. I liked that it uses the same locations as the 1st one, and it is longer. Note that both the clues and the navigation jumps are a must, so that adds two bucks to the price. Still, I like this kind of game so I'm happy.

Have played them all and this is my least favorite. The hints to some of the puzzles just didn’t make sense. But that probably won’t keep me from playing the next one that is offered by this company!

Lots of adventure/scenes to visit. Puzzles were mostly easy. In game clues often obtuse. I did not appreciate having to pay for hints and jump map so I did not. Use the online walkthroughs.
