Really wanted to try this app, but it never hears any sounds. Looks like it is trying, screen changes from blue to black from right to left. Playing a clip also has no sound. Made sure birdnet has permission to access the mic. Using a Samsung note 4 with android 6. Update September 2020, app works well with pixel 4a on android 11.

Excellent. Overall, I highly recommend this ap. I like the way it labels the chosen bird calls with "most likely" or other words to indicate strong confidence or degrees of. It's fantastic. I just wish that I could override or label- only rarely, but it would be nice. I had a Ladderback woodpecker and it was recorded asanacorn woodpecker. I wish I could change it because I save some of the labeled recordings. Again, I highly recommend this ap!

This ap was really good then just after Christmas it has gone nuts! No way are these birds you are sugesting in this country let alone on the outskirts of London. Stop with the spotless starlings and other such rubbish! Not round here anyway!

My stereotype of an old person, when i was young, was only, old people, enjoy: 1. gardening, 2. bird watching, 3.stamp collecting. At 54, it would be very easy to just blame this app, for my recently found love of birds. So, I will. It wasnt just me who thought Bird watching was boring as beans. Look, my grandfather was into it, and as a kid, I just didnt care. This sound, identification technology, found here, takes it from "bird watching" to a totally new hobby. So, technically, I was right.

This is a really awesome app! We have hawks in our area and I thought I was hearing them sometimes so I would run out to see if my chickens were ok. But, turns out it was just a woodpecker! Also, my husband thought he could trick the app by sounding like a bird, it got him good and came up with "Human". He was hilariously disappointed! My only complaint is it should have said "silly human"! 😂😂

As an absolute starter in identifying birdsong, I absolutely love this app!! I'm pregnant and looking forward to teaching my child different birdsong. It's a thrill each time I press the 'analyze' button! Fantastic work 👍👍👍

I hardly ever give any Apps a 5 star rating, but this App is so damn Amazing, I just had to. Not only is BirdNET one of the Most underrated Apps I've ever used, but also has to be one of the MOST ACCURATE Apps I've ever used as well. I only have one Constructive Criticism. I wish you could zoom in closer on the Soundwave to grab it accurately. Other than that, pretty damn cool. Thank's guy's and great work on the App. -R0CK

What a great app! Never before was hearing an odd bird call SO much fun! I got all my friends into it and now we compete to collect observations. It's like Pokémon... Gotta Catch Em All! The only reason they lost a star is because the Red Tailed Hawk is not included in app. **EDIT** App has since added HUNDREDS of new species INCLUDING Red Tailed Hawks. Too bad they haven't been back. Instead we now have twice as many Coopers Hawks. GET THIS APP! Happy BirdNET Watching!

Excellent app, just one thing is missing: the ability to make a backup copy of your observations and to import the backup, for people who'd like to keep their old observations when changing phones.

Funny. Did a controlled test using allaboutbirds, playing a tufted titmouse. The spectrum view of the audio is pretty cool. However, after selecting the piece of audio to analyze, the most likely bird was shown to be an American Robin. Uhm, gonna experiment a bit more :-) Also, option to feed in recordings made w other apps?

App has been failing to identify most of the time for the past few months. Hoping update fixes that, but no info what has been updated, only says "BirdNET: The easiest way to identify birds by sound." Also "App Permissions may request Full Network Access"
