My brother introduced me to this app a few days ago. Initially I was incredulous due to the fact that I have played face-to-face Bid for 40 years. I am happy to report this app is AWESOME! Becuase it is hard to find players under 45 years old these days, this is a great substitute. I love it!

  • Illogically programmed Aug 15, 2016

This game would be better if the programming was more like it is played with a real partner. As an example, your computer partner plays as if it is a solo game. It routinely plays a trump card When your ace, in an off-suit would win the book. It's frustrating to see jacks (if it's an uptown bid) or 3s ( if it's a downtown bid) win books when a suit is played for the first time. It's also weird when your partner sits on a joker or an ace when you are trying to figure out where it is in an effort to make your bid. Additionally, you'll find that your partner rarely has the hand to win a bid without a lot of help from you. Those bids are hard to make when your partner has cards in all four suits. You'll play the game if you love bid whist, but it's programming will drive you crazy!

I like the game, however playing strategy is not that good with the computer partner. Jokers are wild...not understanding when you get the bid and lead trump with big joker on first round and then lead with a lower trump card and computer partner has second joker, but doesn't play it until later in game, thus allowing your opponent to gain a hand of play...this is called a "fishing" strategy that is used amongst bid whist players and it's frustrating.....

  • Better but still needs work. Jun 12, 2016

I agree with the other reviewer. This Game could be fantastic if it played the way the game is played in real life. Whoever is updating lacks a natural understanding of how the game is played. Very frustrating when I play a low Trump and my partner holds the Joker and doesn't play it. This goes against the rules of play. Whoever is fixing the game should sit down at the table with players who could explain what is and is not done and why, as well as the concept of making yourself two suited. Please please fix game. Also the computer bids no-trump too often. It rarely works. Better understanding of the game is needed. Update is an improvement.

Tried to see how much the game has changed. Your alert still doesn't compare to looking down on the card table, where you can see and study the board over the entire time you are debating your bid. Partner still holds the winner and let's the other team win the book. I then played an obvious winner and my partner cut me and set us playing to the other team. Still can just set the computer all day. ...anyone who claims this is like the real thing lacks the skills to play the game... This doesn't look like a card game. It does play like the card game. You can pass every time and just set the computer. It will make you bid once in a while, that doesn't matter. Just continue passing again after. Disappointing computer play. Your partner sets you by holding winners. The computer gets set because it is always 4 suited. The only time a bid goes over 4 you will bid it. Great game reduced to shambles.

Why is this game stilling the App Store? The partner plays illogical hands and clearly does not understanding bidding or how to play. Having a game where the partner throws the hand is very frustrating. Moreover, the developer appears to have no interest in correcting the problems. What a waste. This is a game that is very special in the African-American community and the developer of this app has made a mockery out of the game. Shame on you!!!!!!

This game is full of bull. Whoever programed the partner to set the team playing the wrong suit or to not even bid when they get a good hand needs to be slapped. This game is in serious need of updating and programing to be considered fun with this app.

  • This Game For Novices Apr 30, 2020

Besides an earlier complaint from another player’s review that if you have the bid, your partner most times will keep playing your trump until you run out or very low, this game also plays as if the opponent on your left know wheat you have in your hand. As an example if the opponent on your right plays a Jack, you have the King but you don’t want to play it because the Ace is still out, most times the opponent on your left will not play the Ace, allowing his partner to win the book, however in a quality competitive game, the player on your left would have played his Ace, unless of course he already knew my partner couldn’t win the book. If the opponent on my left wasn’t already aware my partner couldn’t win the book, normally, in other instances they are programmed to play their highest card. A minor complaint is this game does not celebrate a Boston in a thrilling victorious way.

I like the speed of play and the embrace of real 'bid' like we played in the dorms at school many moons ago. Logic is still off a bit .. When self and partner are only holders of trump computer still pulls ... I love the ability of computer to 'skate' but not when partner is obviously looking to cover a gap like in a no trump hand. Still your game is more realistic than any others I have played. If you can work out these few bumps you will have a great game app!!

  • Good Approximation of Bid Whist. May 24, 2019

    By DaBidMan
I enjoy the game and I find it to be addictive. My criticism is that card play is at lightening speed and cards are swept from view immediately after the last card is played making it extremely difficult to examine who played what. My suggestion is to build in a brief pause after the 4th card of each hand or design in a way for the user to set the pace of cards played and hands removed.

This game is alright for passing time, BUT as a serious player, it is a complete let down. It doesn't count what you make, it doesn't calculate a BOSTON, the computer renigs(?), computer partner is horrible and you cannot not always see the fallen card before it is abruptly snatched. I had some who are trying to ,earn the game download it but they are. Enter off sitting at the table with us!!!! I am here because I actually had to delete the game and reload it because I played the Big Joker and I was taken by a lower trump . . . WTW!!! I refused to play that out!!! BUT, again it is a good time passing game!

The game Bid Whist is my all time favorite card game ever, but this game is highly flawed. #1 Whoever created this game did not do their research of the game very well. #2. Bidding should began at 3downtown, 3uptown, 3no trump up or down. #3. Why is it my partner never bids. #4. Player at my left always bids no trump when I have both jokers. #5. When a player and his or her partner wins all the books in that game it's called a Boston and is highly celebrated. #A lot of the time, my partner plays like an idiot. With this being said, the game is not bad, but with more research it could be a lot better.

This game has some flaws I can't take out a straight 4 with a no trump bid. My partner never plays his winning card when I am searching for the joker or the ace. Why would you ever play all your aces and open up every suit and have no run suit to keep your component from gaining the lead? I feel like I am playing against all three players instead of with my partner.

  • Frustrating! Nov 26, 2016

    By Tennis Doc
The only thing that is good about this game is that it is my only option to play my favorite card game! The most frustrating aspect is that your partner doesn't 'think' like a true partner. It repeatedly 'cuts' my already winning book, when it has the last play! It also bids erratically......I often have more of the trump cards IT chose! The computer and partner bid no tump way too often, especially when they have too few aces or cards in a single suit.

I love the game especially the fact that the game ends when the player is set, but I do not like the fact that I can only see 12 of my 13 cards, I cannot set the speed in which The cards are played (goes too fast) and I cannot turn the screen to wide angle shot. With these glitches I am assuming this is done on purpose to keep the stats low (more wins to the computer) and to keep the player thirsty for more wins. Down side...because I will bid a not rump only to later find I have two jokers that were not visible in the initial screen it makes me want to quit and delete! Please fix. Thank you Also can you make it to where your partner does NOT cut you????

This bid whist game is unlike any other online game I've played. They call phones smart, but this game is the most stupid bid whist game I've ever played. Doesn't know when to stop playing Trump when opponents don't have them, plays best cards first when Ace's are still out there.... Ugh 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁 No

But I continue to play. What I like is that the game is fast. No wasted time watching cards animate slowly. I also like that the round ends once someone sets. What I don't like 1) there is no order for bidding; 2) turns seem to be random - severs turns in a row, I'm the dealer; 3) the partner NEVER bids; you as the player always bid last whether or not you're the dealer; 5) I win most of the time because I end up setting the computer. Even still I play because I like this better than the other bid whist options in the App Store.

if you make a mistske or hit the wrong button..you cannot back up, reverse, or return to previous. Also, you cannot read what the bids are when they place the icon of front telling you what the previous opponents did. You cannot see that last line clearly. Please move it down or available to see completely.
