I was looking for something to help me with scripture memory but am amazed at the thought and expertise put into this app. I very much appreciate the variety of choices that you can use to help in memorization. You can record your own voice and listen back to the Scriptures. You can play background music , You can turn on or off alerts when you type a wrong word. You can also use flashcards. You can set up your versus according to a topic. You can lock them to review for certain number of days, or they progress longer between each review if he would prefer that as well. You can also set a percentage of accuracy as to when it tells you you must do the verse again. This is one of the apps that I have probably had on my phone the longest, and I use it daily. I do not easily memorize, and I appreciate the way this helps me to hide God's word in my heart. Whenever I have had a question I received an email response back within a day, so customer support is excellent. I love the latest update! I was unable to figure out before this newest update how to play music in the background and not have a too loud for me to hear the recording. Perhaps that option was available but I couldn't figure it out. I love that you can play the background music quietly and hear the recording of the verses more clearly. Thank you. It takes me back to my school days, when background Music seem to help with memorization and concentration.

I love this app. I don't think any app is a good replacement for writing verses out or saying them out loud. But for what an app CAN do, this app does so so well. I am able to grasp verses quickly, and then make them sink in with word of mouth. No major complaints about this app. If I could ask the developers to add one more feature, it would be an option to have you memorize the reference as well in larger passages. It would be a help for me and how I prefer to use your app.
  • Keeps me coming back

    By MaureenKim
I have tried several different apps for scripture memory and this is by far the best. I have memorized over 500 verses in less than 2 years. I almost never miss a day. I really appreciate that when I get a word wrong, my phone vibrates and the correct word goes right in. On the other app I was using I had to keep guessing until I got it right. I also appreciate that the place where I got the word wrong stays shaded in for a few reviews to help me remember. I appreciate that the app gives grace for typos. The other app didn't and I would be so tense during review, worried about not hitting the key exactly. It became more about finger placement and less about learning verses. The other app made me feel like I was always being tested. This one makes me feel like I'm being instructed. Huge difference. I LOVE the review schedule. Every morning I wake up and my verses for the day are waiting. As I master them and recall them accurately, they are scheduled for review less and less frequently. That way I can concentrate on the ones I am learning. update: still love it but lately my longer passages (whole chapters) have started disappearing during review. The page goes blank and I have to start over. So I contacted support and they fixed it with their next update. These guys are amazing. And they added a lock button. I love the lock button!!

One of the best Bible memory apps I have been able to find. It has its quirks, but nothing that impedes its engaging and effective design. Draw images, sing songs, read aloud, alm kinds of artistic ways to engage with and remember verses or whole passages with an automatic review system that works.
  • This is truly an excellent app!

    By rawkhopper
I have always loved the idea of being able to rattle off Bible verses from memory and apply them to various situations in life. I had seen others do it and admired them for their memory. Memory verses get stuck in my head as pictures or concepts but I had trouble recalling the precise wording. Partly due to exposure from different translations. I decided to try using this app to memorize 14 verses from the book of Romans to help in presenting the gospel. It ended up being so easy and fun with this app that I set my sights on memorizing a collection of 100 verses that were put together for witnessing to Mormons. Those were going so well that I threw in some more verses along the way. I am now up to 63 verses. Not only can I recite them precisely I can do it with the reference and can even do it in random order. I look forward to finishing off the rest in my list (130 in all) and then I plan on adding some more! This has helped encourage me to have very regular daily devotions memorizing the Word and learning the context of the verses. I don't typically write reviews and I am not very good at remembering details but this app is worth a 5 star review and has helped even a guy like me memorize scripture. Give it a try!!!

Helpful. The strengths of this app is the ability to memorize with others, and that it makes learning verses in context more natural. Its weakness is the price, as other apps do a similar job for individuals for free. I still paid for this so I could join my group learning verses.
  • Great app!

Scripture Typer is the first app that I bought and I have been using it since October 2015. After I reached 50 verses (you can keep it free by deleting verses that you've memorized and learning new ones), I wanted to keep track of what I had learned. ST can be really motivating to learn scripture when you're keeping track of your rank and stats (that can be addicting and stressful) or you can just memorize to get the scripture in you and not worry about the rest. I like the fact that I can get credit for hitting the right letter even though I hit the wrong adjacent letter accidentally. It's easy to do on a small phone or with big clumsy fingers. It's not a perfect system because only you know whether or not you truly have it memorized. There are other apps out there that make you have to be perfect in order to get credit for memorizing. This was precisely why I changed to Scripture Typer, I didn't like that frustration of hitting the wrong letter accidentally. I will say though, when using your computer you do have to hit the right letter. Over all, ST is a great helper when it comes to memorizing scripture and I have memorized more than I ever thought I could!

Just fabulous. I love using it. I love especially watching my kids use it. It's an extremely helpful tool in memorizing scripture, and has built in incentive by seeing your score and rank. Not that that matters, but it makes pushing forward a little fun, too. My highest recommendation to make scripture memory a regular part of your bible study routine!
  • Scripture Memorization Made Easy

    By X20/8-11
I have made several attempts to re-establish the habit of scripture memorization but would end up getting bogged down as I added more texts to my list. I would get to the point where I didn't look forward to reviewing and would eventually stop. With this app, the review is staggered and you become part of a community of believers working toward the same goal. With many approaches to memorization made available, this app makes the process fun, inspiring and challenging at the same time. Rather than walk around with 3x5 cards or a notebook, everything is right at your fingertips wherever you go. I like the heat map, drawing and collections features and the fact that you can chart your progress. You can purchase the Pro version and share it with 4 other people for free! However, if you are a bit hesitant, download the free version. I'm pretty sure you will want to upgrade soon. I don't have the time to share all the great features about this app. You will just have to try it for yourself.
  • Disappointed at cost to upgrade

    By truetheheart
I was getting to like the app and decided to upgrade. But the cost to get it adding NASB was too much when it didn’t even allow you to listen to the Bible when driving, mowing the lawn, working in the garage. It is not just important to memorize the Bible but also to understand all of God’s nature. I hold reading and listening higher then memorizing. With my Bible app I can look up a verse by knowing a part of the verse and search for a word or phase. But I would love to be able to have verses memorized also. Let me know when you have added the ability to listen to the Bible. I will keep your app on the back burner for now. I am using an app that allows me to record and play back. A have recorded 20 verses I want to memorize. I have made up flash cards also by pasting a verse into a label printing software and printing the label to put on index cards. I really like your concept better as it is all together. I am retired so I can’t spend the money on top of tithing like I used too. I have to save back for it and it needs to be worth it. Hope you can get the audio version on your app for that big a price.

  • Clever idea, simple to use - not enough versions

    By profe de español
I generally memorize Sfripture in Spanish, but there are not any Spanish. Erosiones available - not even for a few. If I would be much more inclined to use it if my preferred version (RVR1960) was available.

I love this app. I am not the greatest at memorizing Scripture. With this app it has made it easier and quicker to learn the Scriptures and to review it daily.

  • Issues with Notifications

    By chasekaneki
I’m not receiving notifications on the iPhone SE. I literally can’t even see the text that I’m typing for a review. App is great, but it has technical difficulties. And their button to submit a report... is also broken!!

    Great app
  • So Grateful for This App

    By Rikster84
I am not giving this app 5 stars because of its technical expertise; there are some features that are cumbersome to navigate. That aside, last year was the first time I earnestly engaged the text of the Word of God in my life. Even growing up in church, attending small groups and Bible studies, seeing Christian counselors, the Bible had never gripped or compelled my heart. It felt too distant. For whatever His timing, God changed that last year. In addition to falling in love with the Old Testament, I took part in a men’s ministry that required us to memorize Scripture each week, which was something I had never done. But at that point, I knew that I was reading a lot of rich and wonderful text, and the idea of committing some of it to memory was exciting for where I was. While the free version of this app certainly whet my appetite, after my separation (and eventual divorce) from my wife last October, coupled with the fact I was completing my OT reading with the book of Psalm, I knew I desperately needed God’s comfort and promises to be more regularly available to me. Enter in the best $10 I ever spent. In addition to being able to capture the verses that stole my heart as I was reading them, I was able to join a memory group and select verses from their recommended collections (regardless of whether I had personally read those books or not). 7 months later, I am officially divorced but cobbling together the pieces of my life in the aftermath of my inability to follow the Lordship of Christ during my marriage. But I cannot tell you how many times I have prayed to God His promises in the Scripture, including Psalm 51:15-17 or Ezekiel 36:26 as I was ashamed of my myself. How often I have reminded myself of Deuteronomy 8:3-5 and how God leads us through difficult journeys but never fails to provide. Or Isaiah 54:4-5 when I desperately needed a reminder of God’s promises that I would “forget the shame of my youth” and that “my Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, He is called the God of the whole earth.” I actively review nearly 300 verses, and I cannot tell you how transformational having the Word of God etched in my heart has been. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude that I’m fighting back the tears as I write this. God bless everyone who has contributed to the development and community of this app, I am so thankful for you! In case you’re still on the fence, take encouragement from Psalm 119:11, “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” May God bless you through the gift of writing His promises into your heart!

  • Best Ever

If you want to memorize scripture, I strongly encourage you to download The Bible Memory app. It took me a few weeks to really get the hang of how to use it but once I did I’ve never had a more powerful tool in my memorization belt. After trying out the free version, we paid for the upgrade. It provides a rich assortment of visual, auditory, and kinetic tools to reinforce learning/memorization. My wife and I are memorizing the book of Ephesians now and this tool makes it so much easier. My wife is very good at memorizing scriptures and references while I have difficulty remembering numbers and references. So over the years I’ve had more success just memorizing a whole book without the references. Whichever style suits you best, this tool makes the whole process much easier. The first one I memorized was the book of James over 30 years and without any tools it took over a year. I’m expecting the process to be shorter now and for the memorization to go deeper so I retain it without any errors for much longer.

I've had this app since June 2015, and I've never found one that works better ... yet it's still incredibly frustrating at times. Changing the review frequency for a collection of verses must be done verse by verse, with no mass-editing options available. Ouch. I've memorized books... Long-click, click, click, click. Repeat 104 times? Waaah... Trying to move a collection of verses into a different folder is even worse. Still, it's the best I've seen, and someday it may become truly fantastic.
  • By A Google user
Overall, it does what I need: help me to learn scripture. I like the way they review. The reason for the missing stars is that I can never get the read Bible feature to work. I click on it and it says the Bible is downloaded but it never shows up. Also, there is no option to share a scripture from another source which is really handy and present in another app I have. Also, I know that have to make money but I feel as though flash cards should be an included feature for the free version. Recommended if your wants are super simple. It's a good app to review scripture for memorization.

I really like this app. It is fun and it works for scripture memory. It was a little hard to navigate the group aspect, but when I emailed the support team I got a response within two days and the response was helpful. I love the badges and I hope they add more. Also I love the group aspect and would like to see that development more full too. This app with a bit more refinement has the potential for five star.
  • No Room For Typos

    By AuntAmy_88
I have enjoyed this app a lot. It is a great tool for memorizing scripture. However, there’s not much “grace” in the set-up. Since it’s an app, you learn the verses by typing. You can either set it so you just type the first letter of every word, or type everything out. I have chosen to type everything. But when you make a mistake, it counts against you - even if it’s a typo. And if you don’t get a certain percentage correct (I’ve set mine at 98%), then you have to repeat it until you do. Sometimes I have to repeat a verse 5-6 times because I make so many typos. It is very frustrating! I feel like this needs to be reassessed and corrected.
  • Love it, but what’s with the points?

    By MaRCusDeHaRT
This app has helped me master many verses and passages so that they are readily available when I am challenged or need to encourage someone else. The app is simple. Easy to use. Versatile. But I don’t get the points? Is this supposed to be some kind of game? The reward for this kind of discipline should be spiritual growth, not badges or getting more points than my friends. I would much rather see stats on my historical performance for each verse or passage to see my own progress. I like to strive for excellence in spiritual matters, not make them a competition.
  • Scheduling

    By Big Al3
This is a great app and has been so so useful in furthering me in my walk with God. I just wish that there was a better way to schedule the review increments for verses. It seems like they all come around at the same time. I wish that you could set them for a certain day of the week, or see how many verses you have set at 6 days versus weekly etc. I just get stressed out by the lack of organization and it makes me not want to review the verses when there’s always too many due.
  • Disappointed

    By Hanpica2
I like the app, but some of the features are annoying and clunky. 1- i can’t only contact tech support from the apple email app. Which is why I’m putting my feedback here instead. 2 - the note button drives my crazy, because I don’t have a use for it, and it’s poorly placed and I keep hitting it when I’m typing my verses and it erases what I typed when I go back to the review mode. This is really frustrating when I’m practicing a long group of verses. Please fix. Thank you.
  • Excellent Resource!!!

    By Mm812!
I really like this app!!! It's the best memorization help, with the most bible versions, I have found yet! It vibrates when you get a word incorrect. It highlights area so next time you know to be careful with that word. If words don't match 100% you can manually edit to your version. Only 2 complaints. 1) You only get 50 free verses and the vibrate feature with the free mode. 2) to get all the bells and whistles you have to pay $9.99, but personally for me it was worth it!! Highly recommended!!

Summary of previous review: Great app, small bugs: 31-day months skip day 9; import verse couldn't find 1 Samuel 12:22. Rating: 4 stars New 10/17: I noticed with the update it now has more day numbers missing. Is this intentional? Also, the setting where the words flicker in and out during "Type it" and "Memorize it" is gone in "Type Everything" mode. I really liked to use both and it helped me a lot... Was this done on purpose or is it a bug? PLEASE fix/bring back this combination! Lastly, I realized it can't import ANY 1 Samuel 12 verse 13 or later (there's 25 verses). I haven't encountered this problem anywhere else yet, but still, that's 13 verses missing already. Really used to like this app. Just a tip outside of what's previously mentioned: I'd really like a function to verbally memorize verses, with voice recognition or something.

I was getting to like the app and decided to upgrade. If only you would add in addition to the kjv or english versions, the Hebrew Westminster Leningrad Codex Old Testament, with the voice record/playback for each verse features, that would be perfect. Also allow people to add and change their own ttf fonts for hebrew and english versions of the bible. I would buy that upgrade!

Great App, But Notifications Don't Work! That's the whole point of an app like this, in my view. Had the same issue on iOS and developer response as of last year was that it was a known issue and they'd work on it. No progress as of Feb 2020.
  • Decent but could use some improvements.

    By Averyangrycustomer123
It’s a little outdated and could use some updates for instance — being able to check the progress of other participants in a group as well as making it a little user friendly. The app I was using before this was much easier to navigate, however, I liked that this app allowed me to change versions for free and not be stuck memorizing KJV. It also does not show up in my notifications. When I search it in settings to turn on the notifications, it is not showing up. I’m still trying to learn how to navigate things like how to stop reviewing a verse our small group is no longer learning but still keep it as a verse that I have memorized. I don’t know. It’s just confusing maybe a tutorial would be great to include as well. Nonetheless, the app gets the job done and I’m still learning the verses. Just wish it was easier.
  • By A Google user
I would have given it 5 stars, but there was one issue that kept coming back and they never got back to me. When I tried to change profile or group icons on my android phone, it pulls the image in, but after saving, it'll just be blank. What's worse is now the desktop side also will stop working. The only thing that may work again on the desktop is when I create a new group again. I think it has something to do with flash? Because it was using that to upload the image. Please fix this since it's so attractive to young teens, and they would want to change icons on their own!!! Passing faith to the next generation is extremely important!!
  • Pro needs an upgrade before I buy.

    By Gdswllbdn
I really love the mechanism this app uses to help you memorize scripture. And admittedly I got super hooked on it. But now I’m really struggling to pay for Pro because I can’t just pick the translation I want to pay for. Instead I HAVE to get KJV and then pay an additional $8 for a modern translation like ESV totaling $15 for pro. No thanks. I would absolutely pay the $10 if I could just have ESV or NLT (which was available in Lite but not in Pro?!). I don’t need KJV. Please just let me pick ESV as a part of my $10 upgrade. App dev ops team - I will buy your upgrade after you fix this annoying issue! Promise! I really want to keep memorizing Ephesians! Thank you for making such a great tool. I’m hopeful about continuing to use it!
  • Review change

    By NostalgiaLadie
Updated 2019 Review: This app isn’t at all useful to me anymore due to my need for other bible versions. There are only a small few versions represented in this app. So my rating has gone down because for a paid app, more bible versions should be offered. Deleting app. Former Review: Good app that provides many tools to commit scripture to memory. One problem though. When trying uploading my profile photo, the entire photo will not upload, but only a small portion of it. Moving and scaling does nothing. It won't move and scale.

I am confident that this is the most ingenious verse memorization software tool out there. So glad i downloaded it. Should be vetted across a full range of hardware types before being given clean bill of health. In the middle of a verse, and "poof" - it’s gone. I use ipad pro with large screen, ios 11. If i had any other criticism - and this is trivial - the interface is kind of... "blah." What it lacks in beauty it more than makes up for in productivity (call it the "Leah" of verse memorization software.) Thanks
