  • Nothing else compares. Its the bible app you always wanted. Oct 18, 2019

I’ve been using this app for several years now. I love the resources that tag to verses. I learn so much more with the commentaries and dictionaries I’ve purchased over the years. One new feature (or new to me) is the audio piece. Dear developer and who ever thought this up, THANK YOU!! I had been buying audio bibles by the book in iBooks ( way more expensive) because all audio bibles go by track numbers. -which drove me absolutely nuts! But you actually made it not only down to the book but to the verse! That was worth buying the complete audio bible all over again. Even in the iBooks, the smaller books were often lumped together so it was hard to simply listen to say Galatians. Best of all, I carry an entire library with me in my pocket where ever I go. I love to dig into the historical meaning of scripture. Especially when I don't understand something. This app lets me cross reference dozens of books in an instant and get a better understanding of it. This is great for those extra content study bibles like archeology study bible or thomspons chain reference. I dont have to worry about buying the right version of those now. I can point the study notes to what ever version I feel like reading. I still have a physical copy of the bible. But it collects dust now. This app is my go-to. Way to go for a superior app. Keep up the awesome work!

This app disappoints me, I love it but it works then it refuses to work. It's great for notes and Bible study but it just refuses to open sometimes. I get so disappointed but there is no other app like this one out there or someone please recommend an app like olive tree which you can take notes and read the Bible at the same time. Thanks

Having cultivated a relationship with Christ through a diligent search featuring rigid structure, I initially felt the usage of phone applications for study and revelation of God’s Word to be an abomination. Only after the concept of Grace so beautifully washed over my spirit to totally usurp the dominant reign of condemnation that I had struggled under for many years, was I able to let my tattered KJV rest and embrace the use of such applications. Spiritually conditioned to search deep and expect the best was certainly a regimen that would prove worthy in the endeavor to find the application of choice, as shadow boxing never seemed a fruitful choice for due diligence. But, I loved the applications’ titling and, well, the doggone icon just looked cool. So, it was the first I chose. All joking aside, I have looked at others, but find the intuitive ease of this application’s navigation system to be the featured component that has caused me to retain it as a loyal reader’s companion. The upgrades along the way have never disappointed me and I utilize the copy/paste functions over multiple operating platforms and myriad software programs, quickly enabling me to send my own revelations to others or pose pondering to my spiritual mentors. Thank you, Olive Tree, for continuing your great work spreading the Word of God to our technical world.

I use this Bible application every day along with one of the commentaries to gain additional historical insight into the scripture. I find this to be exceedingly helpful in that I do not always understand the background of many passages of Scripture, particularly the old testament as that is what I am reading now. I am hoping to continue this practice throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament. Though there are some advantages to other biblical apps, this is the one I use daily. For that reason I would wholeheartedly recommend this app to anybody who wishes to gain more insight and knowledge of the Scriptures! In all of my reading, I have come to the conclusion that the word of God is truly able to change a man’s heart at a very deep level. I have yet to see anyone who reads the Scriptures and does not come away with being somewhat changed by them to the extent that they are studied. It is just one more proof to me of their divine origins! The human race has been greatly blessed because of the Scriptures and without them our society would have indeed been very dark and dismal. But they will not help you unless you read them. So try out this app and see if it doesn’t help you with that. May your Bible reading be blessed and you’re worthy prayers being answered!

The best Bible App out there! When you open the app it goes straight to the Bible text. The lack of distractions of unnecessary features is awesome, which turned me to it from others apps. I really appreciate the text color options for different environments. I appreciate the ability to customize so much and look forward to more in the future. I would like highlights to be faster, and additional brighter colors, more paragraph spacing options and audio playback to be more available. great job!

I am a minister who serves several Churches and The BibleStudy App by Olive Tree is one of my 2 primary sources of bible study. So many resources can be packed into this App, from different Bible translations, to commentaries, to maps, to dictionaries( do wish Webster’s 1828 was available). I use it on my laptop and on my iPad so I can take my entire scriptural library with me wherever I go. The only negative is the high cost of some of the resources, so Whenever I want to add a particular resource I wait until the resource goes on sale. The support staff has been great to assist me in straightening out a few minor glitches (3-mostly caused by me). The staff that assisted me was wonderful. Once after paying $40(I wanted it badly)for one of the resources, it did not show up on my purchased list on line. I wanted to download it to a tablet I was using at the time. A phone call to a customer rep solved the problem. Although I didn’t retain a receipt for my purchase, he added it to my purchased list so I could download it to my new device. Where else in this world would anybody accept the fact you weren’t trying to get over on them, and accept your word for it? I’m sold, and thank God for this resource. I use it everyday.

Such a useful, feature-packed tool for having proper control over one's relationship with God; meaning that there are tools to use that helps you gather information and wisdom, that explains things clearly, that helps you stay on track and have assurance that you can let God's will succeed. It is so useful how this application interacts with the one on my computer, and how I can make sure that all the teachings I receive no matter where I am, is safely kept and communicated between my devices.

For that alone I am and always will be very grateful for Olive Tree. I primarily only use it to do my daily study and read my preferred commentaries. I love the way I can jump online immediately if there is a word or term I want more information on. I know the app has a lot more resources you can purchase and I add a few every now and then but it is the scriptures that keeps me coming back. I have been saved 42 years and always started and stopped daily Bible studies. Some times for many years. But since Olive Tree I have had a daily Bible Study for almost five years straight now and The Word of God is still new and revealing to me. In it we find life and life everlasting. If I could improve one thing it would be the highlighting function which can be very finicky selecting whole passages without the ability to accurately select a specific verse. But it’s manageable. No matter what Bible app you currently use I hope you will give this one a try as I believe its creators have been anointed to do this work Grace and Peace my brethren, I can’t wait to meet you all in glory.

  • Bible Study app Nov 25, 2018

I have read through the Bible now for over 25 years. I have used this program for over 5 years. I get concerned about every update. I accidentally updated on my phone a couple of years ago, but every update has been a challenge to get used to. This last one I don’t like not seeing the projected end date. I still have the older version on my iPad. The only reason I continue using the app and trying to adjust to the changes is because I’m committed to reading God’s Word every morning. Part 2 I have discovered another thing I miss. On the older version, when I select reading plans it shows My Plans and has a list of all the times I have completed a plan. I am finishing my 6th year of reading Life Journal in this app. Before that I was using the Victory Bible Reading Plan from Omega Ministries for over 20 years. I do like the ability to have a Bible app on my iPad and iPhone that has a good through the Bible in a year plan. This has been a plus for me. I haven’t found any Bible apps that have a Bible reading plan that I like as well as Life Journal. I have other Bible apps, but this is the one I use the most. I have just struggled with some of the changes that are made.

I’ve downloaded this app years ago and never had a problem accessing scriptures. While I know you can buy various study guides and versions of the Bible, it had always come with a basic version of one or two books (I think KJV and NIV). Recently when I turned it on, it had been spiraling for ages as if it was going to load something but never did. I thought it was the bad connection in church and forgot about it. I tried again today in a location with better connection and realized all of my history was erased as well as the books it came with. Not only that, but now I have to either pay and/or search through in-app purchase to find books to add content to it. Maybe I missed the update warning me this was going to happen, but this isn’t a great customer experience. Not sure if I want to keep the application, but unfortunately it’s probably the best one out there.
  • Used to love this app Oct 23, 2020

I tried installing this on my computer but their exe file doesn't support which drive to install to, so I'm stuck with installing it on my very small SSD with very little space left. Emailed and asked how I could choose which drive to install it to and the support rep was very short and unhelpful to me. She basically said "Sorry, can't install it elsewhere. God bless." That was basically it. So I'm canceling my account, removing it from my phone and tablet and looking elsewhere for a better app that thinks about these things and are a little more compassionate when their users are having issues. This is 2020 and you can't develop an app that let's you install to the drive you desire? And you can't be more understanding and tell me that you'll at least try to fix the issue? Horrible experience. Great app but I can't continue using it anymore.

This is BY FAR the BEST Bible App I have tried and I have tried all of them! Beats Logos, Accordance, Bible Study, SRT, etc... The app (software) is free, and it has lots of free resources and incredible sales, you don't need the spend a lot of money (or any money) to study the Bible with OT. The customer support is outstanding! If you're on the fence. GET IT NOW!! The subscription is fabulous or you can just get resources 'a la carte. It can't get any better than OT when it comes to Bible Study

I started my in depth Bible studies with Logos software. It was pretty great, even if it was slow to boot up and search, and prohibitively expensive. I still enjoyed using it and debated buying the next tier for something like 100$. I bought myself an iPad for Christmas 2020 and right away installed the Logos app, but thought I’d also give the Olive Tree app a try as well. Right away I noticed the dark mode was just much more eye candy than the plain black of the Logos app. Then I discovered the book store inside of this app, there were plenty of holiday sales going on and I took advantage of them. I grabbed myself a great bunch of study tools NASB with Strongs, NIV with strongs, three comentaries, and still cheaper than just the software alone for Logos. I have since removed Logos from my PC and i devices because this has brought my studies to another level. The interactions with the app, bibles, and the ease of accessing the study tools within text make this my only Bible study tool now (well this +GoodNotes). I am thoroughly enjoying these tools and look forward to new sales and tools to put in my Biblical toolbox from these guys.

I like the many resources you can have in one place with this. They made a major change to the appearance of the app, maybe one year ago though. I liked the old look a lot more. Now I have to hide the tool bar when I'm reading, otherwise the appearance is too jarring and distracting from my reading. The study window where you can read another translation, or dictionary is more cumbersome now. It used to have a cute little tab that blended in nicely when not in use, and could be easily pulled up when needed. I don't know if it was visible with the tool bar hidden, because I never used to hide the tool bar. I now have to display the tool bar to make the study window "plus" sign visible, which also has study window written out over a not so nice green color. The tool bar has a shopping cart in the middle now, which sits right at the top of your screen. I can only surmise that the makers of the app are moo concerned with us buying things than us enjoying our Bible reading experience. One good change is easier access to a Bible reading plan with a button on the tool bar.

What is particularly useful to me is the ability to review different translations of the same passage, either in English, or another language like Spanish, German, or Latin. There is one flaw, though, in my preferred translation that I hope can be fixed. The New American Bible, Revised Edition is one of the English versions approved by the Catholic Church, and is the one used in North American liturgies. Unfortunately, the footnotes - which are very important to making the NABRE a Catholic Study Bible, since they cover historical, cultural, and linguistic information to help understand a verse, chapter, or section - are incorrectly linked. Tapping a footnote indicator (a * or a letter) jumps to the wrong note, usually between 1 1/2 and 2 chapters away, making it very difficult to find the correct note for the verse you are reading. For this reason alone, I cannot use this app for Bible Study. If the developers read this review, please fix the footnote issue on the NABRE.

I have used Olive Tree Bible Study app since the first iPod Touch as my daily reader, my ready reference, my note taker. Those notes and the verses to which they are attached have become my testimony. Anyone who would open this app on my iPhone would have a window into my soul and hopefully strengthen their faith. Thank you, Olive Tree for making it so easy to journal. But here are some suggestions: - Improve Verse of the Day— move it up on the Menu, or enable user rearrangement of the list so it can be more easily accessed; again I ask you to make fonts and contrast more readable with low screen brightness and sleepy morning eyes; convert verse reference at bottom from plain text to a Link to that verse to encourage Bible Study, or at least exploration of the context. - Provide feedback link within the app. - Arrange links to or emulate The Bible Project app. They have made a light year’s leap in comprehension of the themes, messages and meanings of the books of the Bible. True 21st century way to read it.
  • My favorite bible app but not perfect Feb 14, 2020

    By SteveW123!!!
The app is great but a couple of things could improve it: 1. Change the highlighter to a solid color instead of the gradient. When you use a dark background, it doesn’t look good. This is especially true with the red text of Jesus. It makes the text hard to read with the dark background bleeding through. 2. Allow me to set a default note icon. The yellow star is easiest for me to see but I have to constantly navigate to it to select it. 3. Have an option to remove all bookmarks OR have a special bookmark that is your current page you are reading. When I set it on another page I would like it removed it from the previous page. 4. It would be really nice to be able to set/increase the line spacing of the text. 5. It would be awesome if your notes weren’t tied to a specific translation. I know it might be hard since each one has different wording, but maybe you could have a special “verse” note that would be for an entire verse, which could be transferable between translations. I would use that one exclusively then. I am using the CSB right now but will probably switch to the new NASB coming out in 2021, when Lockman has a new study Bible 5. I think the intro to each book should be in the main pane with the Bible and be in the book TOC instead of the commentary side bar, but that is minor.
  • Great Bible Study Tool! Mar 21, 2020

    By WhatsUpWithThat?
I’ve been using this app for over 10 years. Love it! I really enjoy being able to read my bible in multiple translations, lookup definitions, and reference commentaries - all very quickly in real time. It really helps me get the most out of reading my bible! My only criticism is the cost of purchasing all the translations and commentaries inside the app gets expensive. I purchased them many years ago so I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth. But a digital distribution platform is a more efficient/less expensive way for authors/publishers to sell books. Hopefully that cost savings will help lower their in-app pricing over time. Someone needs to come out with a monthly subscription model for Christian material - like what Apple offers for music, digital entertainment and audio books. It would be a big hit!
  • Side to side parallel reading gone missing-WHY? Mar 16, 2018

    By DoveGameOn
When writing this review it is in landscape mode , which is wonderful . What happened to the landscape mode reading ??! when I read in my Bible app there is no more landscape mode on my iPhone 7+ with your App , again what happened to the landscape mode ?, it made my reading enjoyable in the Bible app , now my screen is limited! the parallel screen Side to side is gone , now the parallel screen is only top to bottom, I do not care for this feature ! the app is still a great app 🤓 but the reading is forced to be limited to the readers in only one feature of parallel reading , please bring back the side to side parallel reading. thank you and enjoy the rest your day 😎😇 (my landscape mode featuring in my phone works well what other apps thank you again)
  • Olive Tree Bible on my iPad Jun 4, 2018

    By RobbieHoch
I enjoy having Olive Tree bibles on my iPad & it has become my most used Bible. I have commentaries, many translations & versions of the Bible, and other biblical resources all on one thin iPad. If I were to carry all of these resources wherever I go, I would need a large back pack & have one sore back. Olive Tree allows me to reference all of my downloads, take notes & highlight verses, chapters or sections of scripture to enhance my study and help my memorization of scripture. I am glad to have the side by side view available to see the version I am reading & a commentary at the same time. Studying GOD’s Holy Word is made easy with this app and the notes and highlights are also seen on my phone. Thank you Olive Tree for helping my study of GOD’s Word become more manageable. GOD Bless your ministry!!
  • Bible Study App Review Oct 22, 2019

    By MichikoSan21
I absolutely love this Bible Study app! It has helped me grow in my walk with the Lord on the go and has served up the Bread of Life in a number of occasions when I needed that quick scripture reference. One thing I do want however is a way to regain access to my profile. My phone broke and when I replaced it, the Bible App locked me out and no longer recognized my login information so I have zero access to my notes from before. Another feature I’d personally go back to is the old way to highlight the text. With this new update, the highlight option happens so fast that I lose control of the page. Apart from this, I thoroughly enjoy this app and would recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their walk with Christ.

This app disappoints me, I love it but it works then it refuses to work. It's great for notes and Bible study but it just refuses to open sometimes. I get so disappointed but there is no other app like this one out there or someone please recommend an app like olive tree which you can take notes and read the Bible at the same time. Thanks

I really enjoyed this app in the beginning. I've only had it for a total of 2 weeks. The past few days when I have loaded the app, it just spins and never loads the bible verse I was reading. This could just be a simple loading error... Since this is my 3rd day at attempting to get back to my reading and not being able to - I deleted the app and downloaded a new one. If this problem should fix, I would be happy to return as a user of this app. In addition to that I would change my 3star review.
  • Audio For Amplified Classic Translation Aug 19, 2021

    By Ironsidefan
I used the original Olive Tree App for the Amplified Translation Classic version until just recently when because of course its not having any longer been updated it was no longer able to be accessed via Apple’s current software update. I had this current app installed back when informed about it, and used both it, and the old app Justin’s an alternate means to keep track of my daily reading. I’ve been forced by health circumstances to be now using the audio feature for the New American Standard Bible provided on the UVerse Bible app (it doesn’t have that function for the Amplified Bible - Classic or otherwise on there). Today I went looking on the Apple App Store for an Amplified Bible app that provides that feature. I found several, but in confirmation I guess of what seemed to be the case when I checked one the Olive Tree Bible app I could still find nothing indicating there is an available audio feature for the Amplified Bible Classic version or otherwise on it. I am going I guess to purchase one of those Amplified Bible apps that does have the audio feature since I need that capability and this app appears not to still have it (I’ve checked to see about that a number of times over the years).

Going straight to the point, I have a problem when exiting the application. When touching the reverse key (on my phone) to leave the application, instead previous pages are opened. For example, if I opened four books, that means I will return to the same books when closing the application. Please include the exit option in the application. I am using the free Bibles in the application. Thanks for the great work you are doing
  • Difficult controls & clumpy highlights... Mar 2, 2020

    By sky_blue02
I love that this is free, will sync with my desktop app, and offers devotionals. But the controls on this app aren’t intuitive. It’s a bad design. I’ve built apps myself and studied app design principles and this doesn’t abide by the simplest rule: that things should be self-explanatory. It’s hard to navigate and to locate features. I don’t have that problem with the YouVersion app. I also hate the clumpy highlights. They look awful. I only occasionally use this app. I much prefer the YouVersion app, though unfortunately it doesn’t have devotionals, just plans (some of which are just a few days long). Mostly I use this one for an occasional look at a devotional or when I’m looking for a quote I highlighted while using the desktop app (which, honestly, has some of the same design issues as this). Try to simplify things. Streamline. Make it easy to navigate. Consolidate controls. Take a hint from the YouVersion app. It’s much better in terms of design.
  • Went from great App to creepy Aug 25, 2019

    By GreatOracle
Updated review as the requirement to send data to FaceBook has been removed. However, the publishers privacy policy has not changed and is pretty invasive for a Bible App publisher. According to the publishers privacy policy: When using the Bible app, they collect "Geolocation data", PII such as "name, postal address, email address and telephone and/or mobile numbers" and then "Supplement your personal information collected from you with additional information from publicly and commercially available sources, and/or information from Company affiliates and our business partners" (credit card profile data?) along with the identification of "your browser and/or device with other browsers or devices you use". "On our sites, apps and/or emails we and our third-party service providers may obtain information about your activities to provide you with advertising about products and services tailored to your individual interests. We and our third-party service providers also may obtain information for this purpose from third-party websites and apps." ... "we can track your online activities over time and across third-party websites and apps by obtaining information through automated means, as described above" When all you want to do is study the Bible.... These creeps are studying you. Although I am a long time user, I would like a refund - I did not agree to this.
  • A huge, HUGE mess... Jul 11, 2019

    By mahjr
UPDATE 2: You know, it’s funny. I reinstall and wait, wait, wait for an update to the LASBNLT bible to be updated so that the side swiping could be fixed. Well it’s fixed all right. So fixed that now they’ve ONLY ALLOWED IT FOR VERTICAL SCROLLING. I’m truly convinced no one at Olive Tree is paying attention. What’s so special about this translation that it cannot be page-turned normally. The vertical scrolling is dizzying, horrible - which is why I TURN THE PAGE SIDEWAYS. Now I’m truly done with Olive Tree. No more recommendations for them to others. Very tired. UPDATE: LOL! It was suggested to me to reinstall the app and now I get 3 1/2 columns of text. And as I turn the pages the columns get all cluttered. A mess... =========== After the last few updates this app has gotten so bad gradually. Links have to be tapped more than once, and worse now, the resource guide is never ever in sync anymore with the verse hyperlink you select. In fact it never changes, the pop up window always shows the same info no matter what link you select. I’ll tap on a verse’s hyperlink and the resource notes window shows info that has nothing to do with even the chapter or book I’m in. This is on the LABNLT on both iphone and iPad Pro. All current OS’s, app itself also current. I’m shocked that these updates are never tested before release. I’m done with this and back to always reliable ePub.
  • Overall good app, but has frustrating bugs Feb 15, 2020

    By EdHans
Overall I like this app and for bible reading it is a 5 star app. But I’ve purchased 2 reference books in the last few weeks and within an hour of using each I found issues where the Lookup function fails to work with some words or they don’t open properly in the Study Center portion. I’ve reported these issues with both books and have received confirmation that the bugs are reproducible. But neither has been fixed. I’m not talking about visual glitches or minor issues. These books do not function as advertised. And neither issue has been fixed. I’ll continue to use it for quick bible references and light reading, but I cannot use it for serious study as when I study I want to be immersed in the text, not fighting app bugs. I won’t be buying anymore reference books either until I see a change in quality.
  • Issues Mar 21, 2020

    By ChristyChick1
Update: support has been in contact again to resolve the issue. the last app update seems to have improved the issues. I truly hope our user experience will continue to improve from here. I have had this app for years and I hope they will continue to improve the user experience of this app-as it has been important to me. I will continue to update. I contacted the support department and they did not resolve my issue. I have had this app for years, with no problems. In the last few months, I have been extremely disappointed as my user experience went downhill. Verses don’t copy correctly and scrolling features no longer work, the pages now split to make it unreadable. I have invested a lot of money on added resources within this app and I am truly disappointed.
  • Financially App Resources Vs. Actual Physical Books is too much Dec 30, 2017

    By Rich Zee
The App and KJV is free, but the e version books (many of the physical ones which I have already purchased) are expensive, and the ads and constant contact are many. I’m a Bible tech tweener (mid-40’s), perhaps the last generation that will actually will sometimes hand-write sermons and possess physical books (my library is over 2,500 volumes). I also see the value and user-friendliness of app resources; however, I cannot justify spending so much money on that which I already have, for convenience sake. I guess I’m a spiritual 8-track guy in an mp3 world. That being said, for those in their 20’s and 30’s who have not yet bought the books, and have no intention of buying hard copies, this looks like it would be a helpful study tool.

  • Didn’t this application used to be free? Dec 25, 2018

    By stepgr89

    By DyreLogan
