  • Probably the best music and rythme game Sep 3, 2021

    By Alimeril
I generally don’t play tap and follow the rythme games. But, I think this is one of the best. The user interface is brilliant and it’s actually looks like a cellphone music player app. I really like the choice of the songs and the demo play of unlocked songs. The gameplay is really really challenging and addictive. Its almost impossible to get a 5 star that I really like it. Also, I have a huge criticism too. I really like to listen and improve my score for the songs that ai like, BUT the song case get fill really fast and after playing for like 5 minutes I have to wait at least for like an HOUR AND A HALF to play for just another five minutes. This really bothers me. I hope that developers work on this issue as soon as possible. It can be solved easily. For example we can play how much we want and improve our scores but when the song boxes are full we don’t get any progression. Overall the game is really enjoyable. I’m looking forward for improvements and new songs. Also, a search button in the songs menu will be appreciated.

The development is phenomenal and I love that there's no ads. The unlock time for boxes is a little excessive, though. 4 hours is a lot of time off of the game which is a lose-lose for players and the company. The songs for this were chosen well, coming from someone who listens to almost everything. I've noticed a lack of metal, though, which means there's an entire base of folks your marketing team is missing out on. Solid 4 out of 5 🌟
  • Love the game! Just a couple of issues.. Sep 20, 2021

    By wubbalubbadubzy
So let me start off by saying I love this game and what it has to offer. I spend every second I’m able trying to compete with my friends high scores, along with beating my own high score to get Platinum and Diamond medals. There are some slight issues that tend to be annoying though. For starters, I know I’m hitting it on the beat and it’ll still give me a “Great” instead of at least a “Perfect”, but I can overlook that because it doesn’t happen as often. Another issue I have with it is that it’ll stop the music mid game and then start you back over and play the music again, which really throws off the person or at least in my case. And it’s not just been me I know because I have several people I’ve gotten to play it and the experience the same issues. I would love to give the game a 5 star because this game genuinely deserves it, but I also don’t want to keep experiencing bugs that are fixable. I hope you guys can fix it so I can rate it 5 stars. Also this isn’t an issue, more so a suggestion, but I feel like you should be able to play songs you have after you cap out on your cases, just not gaining anything other than beating your high score. That or at least add a forth spot so players can play more and try to get through quicker and obtain more songs. I love that you offer the instant unlock, it would be cool to get that offer slightly more because it only happens occasionally.
  • I’m having issues Oct 4, 2021

I absolutely love this game! My friend started playing it, and she’s also addicted. However, I have a few concerns that I’ve noticed since I’ve been playing for about a week. First, I noticed someone else pointed this out. I bought unlimited plays and have been striving to get every song under a gold metal. I’ve noticed sometimes when I play it will give me the yellow instead of green when I know I am tapping on the perfect bar. I have also noticed it is VERY hard to distinguish between “perfect” and “perfect+” which makes it difficult to surpass your last high score. It all rides on if you have perfect+ or not. Also, I know every song is a different speed and length, but some songs I’ve found harder to get high scores on due to the lack of pace. I don’t get nearly as many 200 streaks on them, causing my score to not be enough. I’ve also noticed when I didn’t get every note perfect, I got a decent score. I’ll play again and get a perfect on every note and still get a smaller score than when I didn’t hit every note. Lastly, I woke up this morning and played a bit. I went back to bed and woke up to play, and my app is NOT loading. I’ve tested my service and it’s working. My other games are working, but BeatStar won’t load. I’m not sure when my week of unlimited plays ends, but I hope this won’t mess with it.
  • One of the best rhythm games I’ve ever played BUT….. Sep 12, 2021

    By nxncarfter
This is by far one of the best rhythm games I’ve ever played. The level actually get difficult and the songs are really well known and good. There is a very steep learning curve going from normal to hard difficulty but it’s fun to replay songs and get better each time. There is one huge draw back however. As you play levels you get points, these points unlock crates. Most crates take 1.5 hours to open and at the end you get a new song or cards towards a new song. This is a good system HOWEVER you can only have three crates at once. And unlike other games with this system, you can ONLY have these three crates. If you fill up all of your slots you can’t play for AN HOUR AND A HALF. Once you’re done waiting you have another five minutes of play time until you have to wait again. This gets even worse if you have to unlock a FIVE HOUR CRATE. This basically forces you to spend gems and thus money if you want to play the game for more than a few minutes. If it wasn’t for this feature I would give the gave all 5 stars and write it down as one of the best mobile games I’ve played by far, however with this feature, all the fun is taken out of it. I hope and pray the developers will allow you to play with full crates but I have a feeling there is too much money to be made. If the feature is ever changed then I will happily change my review to 5 stars.

I would give this 5 stars, but I'm having pretty much the same issue as everyone else who reviewed, the song mix is awesome, the button mechanics are better than most games(if more difficult), but the waiting for cases to unlock without being able to play songs is killing me. I was hooked for a day, then dropped it for a week because I couldn't play any songs anymore. You're going to have people drop the app entirely because it becomes wasted app space in their mind.
  • Has potential to be the best beat game of all time Oct 16, 2021

    By SweetAngelBabyGirl
Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of beat-based games and am also under no delusion that Supercell is trying to make some money by keeping certain features locked. I think Supercell as a production company actually does a really fantastic job of making their games playable without having to shell out extra cash to keep advancing unless you really want to. I feel like they’re missing the mark with this game because the songs unlocked can get stale pretty quickly as you wait for more boxes to unlock based on an arbitrary number of hours. Onto the game play. I have played probably every beat-based game on the market and I have to say Beatstar has probably the best collection available. The game design is beautiful and well executed. But, I’m not sure having only three columns to hit the beat makes the game any better or more enjoyable than other games, which have made four columns sort of the standard. If anything, it’s made the game feel a little underwhelming. There is a serotonin-release satisfaction in getting in the zone and hitting hundreds of notes in a row, and unfortunately I haven’t felt anything close to that from this game - which is a real bummer considering it is beautiful to look at and the catalog is fantastic. I want to love this game but it’s just not all there for me.

Really enjoying the game but there are some things that could be improved. As everyone else is saying, the wait time on the boxes and having only 3 slots usually means they are always full. I would gladly pay a subscription service for this game for unlimited EVERYTHING. Once we get past 5 stars it doesnt even count towards leveling up. What's the point in getting gold etc if you don't get rewarded? Perfect/+ needs to go! We should be allowed to pick songs. Use the cards to unlock genres only
  • Fun game, good mechanics, classic look Oct 5, 2021

    By BathtubCaptain
What immediately sets this game apart from the rest is its unobtrusive ads. I’m the kind of player who will delete an app if an ad shows up unprompted. The song selection is appropriately moderate with a box reward system that manages to work in the game’s favor. The vibration is a nice feature and the audio sync calibration setting is thoughtful. The beats show up in one of three lines which might seem underwhelming, but this is in fact the most effective use of the tap mechanic. We only have two thumbs! Something I might consider for the game’s improvement would be an option to adjust the location of the ‘perfect’ line as some people hold their devices comfortably in slightly different locations, especially given the variety of sizes and models being used to play. Also adding a practice mode where players can begin on a select stage of a song might improve the experience, especially for players who find this game challenging; currently stages are all consecutive, so trying to improve on the more difficult stages requires a great deal of replaying through parts we’ve already nailed. Overall, this game seems to be the rhythm game we’ve all been looking for and I look forward to seeing its future developments.
  • Fun but annoying Sep 16, 2021

One of the best rhythm games out there. Seriously. Which is why it’s so disappointing that they put in that stupid timed case opening mechanic that every greedy iPhone game had about 5-7 years ago, where you can spend gems (purchased with real money, of course, or drip-fed through daily/ad rewards) to skip wait timers. I thought for sure we’d moved past that mechanic, but I guess not. I want so badly to recommend this game to people, but the steep drop off in enjoyable content keeps that from happening. The timers increase with each box you open, and discourage you from actually playing the game. And progress is nearly nonexistent, with new songs being unlocked from collecting enough “cards” from those boxes. Seriously, it’s like EA levels of gameplay interference. I’m gonna delete for now I think, hopefully they come up with a less disrespectful way to encourage player engagement/purchase. I’d be pretty cool with some sort of one-time purchase that removed the case mechanic and replaced the IAP shop with a shop where you can use coins (earned by playing the game) to unlock either random or picked songs. THAT is a far more ethical way to structure progression and purchase in a video game.

Like so many other reviews have described, this game *is* great from a gameplay perspective, but it suffers horribly from severely limiting your ability to play. As you play, you earn boxes to open for songs. The boxes take time (~3+ hours) to open, but you can't have more than 3. If you have all 3, the game will not let you play. The only option is a *very* expensive "unlimited pass" or to watch an ad every time. If the devs relaxed this, the game would be absolutely perf.

Fun but not worth it. This game would be much better without the pay to play vibes. You hardly unlock songs, even when getting great scores on the songs you have unlocked. A song costs 150 jewels to unlock. I've gotten 4-5 stars on the 10 songs in my library and don't even have 59 jewels. It is obvious they want you to buy jewels to unlock more songs. Could be cool, but not worth the time or money.
  • "What if Tap Tap Revenge was a predatory gacha game?" Sep 28, 2021

    By AbvAvgAlx
I am a big fan of rhythm games and have fond memories of playing various iterations of Tap Tap Revenge on my early iPod Touch. This game is very much in the same vein as it, and is incredibly well-polished and a lot of fun to play --- when the game lets you. Instead of selling you a full game and songs for a few dollars, you can buy some gems to randomly unlock a song which you can only play until your case slots, which are how you collect increasing numbers of pieces to unlock more songs, are full and then you must wait for 3+ hours or spend real money to open them and keep playing. The song selection is great, the controls feel responsive, and it's a lot of fun to try to go for a new high score and increase your star ratings. It's just such a shame that the progression system aggressively doesn't want you to play the game for more than a few minutes every few hours unless you pay money. The latest changelog announces a plan to allow unlimited play but there are no details released at time of writing and I don't have high hopes that it will be reasonably priced, as this system is clearly designed to extract as much money as possible from players. EDIT: The unlimited play was released and is $5/wk. While it comes with gems, it definitely comes across as a cash grab when there are people like myself who just want to play the game without spending $20/mo for the extra gems.

Enjoy the core game but it's not without its issues. Firstly each song only had the one difficulty. So you are forced to play songs you don't like, why not make easy, hard and extreme versions of each song and let us unlock each version. Secondly when boxes are full you still can't play without paying money. Lastly you tend to get songs you don't like way too often. Good idea, badly implemented

I liked this game at first, but I hate the ads, you can't even pay to remove them. Also you don't get unlimited play on songs, you have to watch ads or pay gems, and gems are expensive. This game is all about money and is a wanna be Tap tap, they should bring that back. At least you get unlimited play on the songs, can buy songs and pricing was reasonable.
  • Extremely Limited Song Options Oct 3, 2021

    By Ahdthshfthfddndefxhfy
This game has a good idea and good mechanics, but it needs a ton more song options. I really don’t care at all about the newest song by whoever is popular this week, I’m a fan of older music. That being said, there are only two songs that I’d consider “Older” music in the game (Living on a prayer and sweet home Alabama). And while I don’t mind some recent songs, if you want any chance to reach a level where you can play one of the two songs I’d like better, you have to earn stars by playing a wide variety of music that I’d rather not listen too. I ended up playing some songs without sound because I didn’t want to listen to them, but I wanted the stars so I could potentially get to a song I liked better. You should have a wide selection of music to play right from the beginning, in different categories including different decades rather than just different genres, that way you can play music that suits your tastes more to unlock different songs in that specific category. I want to like this game, but when the main theme is music, it shouldn’t have such limited music to cause a player to not even want to listen to it. Hopefully the music gets “updated” (ironic since I’m asking for older music), and then I’d love to play it again, but for now I just won’t and I can’t in good conscious give 2 stars to a music app without music.

The fact that you have to PAY to play more makes absolutely no sense to me. When your slots are full for boxes, which is only 3. You cannot play anymore, first of all this is a horrible marketting strategy, second of all this just makes the gamr have less play time. Overall this is a great game with great visuals and interactive gameplay, but the pay to play feature just turns me off.
  • Oct 11, 2021

    By Erik Blair
I REALLY want to like this game. But even with the rebalance of coins for failing to complete a song, you fill up the boxes so darn fast. PLEASE offer a one-time cost to just be able to play the game. Or a subscription. SOMETHING other than a massive one-time price for just a few songs/jewels. It's too bad, because the song list and gameplay are strong. Also, would be great if you redesigned the sync setting so that it was actually clear when the sound is in sync.
  • Fun, but not fun? Sep 12, 2021

Oh, I’m sorry. Your case slots are full? Here’s a big middle finger stuck up in your face. Now wait 3 hours to play our game again. Terrible marketing ploy, not gonna lie. Beatstar does have very good songs and is very responsive, so it’s a pain in the rear to have to wait 3 hours after your case slots are full just to play the game again. And you know what really ticks me off? You’re given the choice to watch an ad for a free reward. When you watch an ad, you’re giving the people who made the app money. There are tons of people who downloaded the game, so the game should be more accessible as a result, right? Wrong. If you want to keep playing, you’re going to be spending lots of gems. And how do you get tons of gems? You spend real cash on something that isn’t as important as, say, for instance, taxes, or that new Porsche you’ve been saving up for. Point is, the game is fun, but this makes it not fun. And I don’t care if the songs are copyright. “Oh, you shouldn’t be able to listen to the songs as much, you should pay for it.” Well then why don’t you pay for better app developers for a good rating? I hope the person who came up with that gets fired and becomes a felon.

At first this seems like a great app. Fun, entertaining etc. Except when you have to start paying for everthing. You basically get nothing in this game unless you pay for it. Also this game seems slightly against the player. You know you pressed the screen, yet it says u didn't. This usually happens when u start to build up a big scoring run. And what is this unlimited play. You advertise it like you get something. You don't

  • The New (Good) Piano Tile Sep 25, 2021

    By GameReview1811
I have had this game for about 3 days now and I have to say wow! I’m honest when I say when I clicked on this game it would be like any other mobile that has been coming out lately, no good animation, terrible gameplay, and the lack of un-originality. But nope this game managed to do the exact opposite it had very good animation, very smooth transitions after the music ends, and it talking some idea from piano tiles but making it so much better. I never like “piano tiles” after they used artists music because of how bad the singers were and just not enjoyable but with this. Oh my gosh I can’t lie to you it has been amazing they managed to have permission to use artists music and make it good they got a chance at making a good game and they did not disappoint. I would maybe like to see the addition of possible haptic feedback to bass drops to make it feel more good like a setting you can turn on or off it would make the game a lot better but still overall I love this game.
  • Best Rhythm Game On The App Store! Sep 5, 2021

    By Alyki S
I’ve played my fair share of rhythm games but this one tops them all. Not only does it respond correctly to touch but it actually has true rhythm when it comes to placing the notes, unlike other games where it would have random notes all out of place just to make the level more “tricky”. It has a nice balance when it comes to difficulties on each track, the idea of each level becoming more elaborate and faster pace really gets me engaged in the game. I do enjoy the amount of songs that this game offers, it doesn’t have the copyright free bull crap where you have to watch an ad or pay money just to play an actual top chart song and not twinkle little star for the fifth time. Beatstar has a good amount from every genre and decade, I just hope it adds even more in the future. The interface has such a truly beautiful sleek design, I get excited whenever I unlock a new song just to check out what colors they choose for each individual track. Even the tiny details like when collecting the genre tokens and hearing the simple sound effects adds so much satisfaction, it just makes me what to collect more. All together it looks and feels like a very well made app with a lot of work put into it, doesn’t look all ugly and rushed. It is a very comfortable game to play and I will be nonstop playing it for a long time for sure a 5/5, which I haven’t seen in a good while.

Finally a fun rhythm game with REAL music. Half the fun is unlocking the songs which leads to my first suggestion : playlist challenges for friends list and events - who can score the highest playing a “concert” selected by your friends? Prizes for the winner etc etc Second, you MUST add some type of details as to what buttons are required for a song - its almost impossible to tell how hard a song is supposed to be after you unlock it Someone else already suggested this so add a tally for the “need more difficulties for each song” group - there should 100% be hard versions of normal songs and vice versa - if i really like a song thats on the easier side i only get to play it once or twice because i medal it right away? I don’t want to be stuck playing some obscure song idk just because its harder to get stars (see guitar hero for difficulty structure)
  • Great tap game! But Sep 17, 2021

    By Mikeyboo31
I haven’t played tap games in a long time it was always hard to find good ones and it’s from supercell I heard about it on an advertisement on clash Royale which ive been playing since it launched so I knew I had to try this game and love it but then when I filled all my prize slots it doesn’t allow u to play anymore till one prize box opens in 4 hours just like clash Royale used to be but they changed that allowing us to still earn trophies and reach goals for the other prizes and just play and enjoy to. Please switch it to unlimited play without having to buy gems just to play. I will buy gems in the future to use for continuing and open a box or two and for events when I get to that level if I can get their by the time every prize box opens lol. But overall great fun game love it keep up the great work supercell!😊😊😊😊😊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  • Amazing Tap Music Game Sep 6, 2021

Just found out about this game in Brawl News and decided to give it a try. The gameplay is very enjoyable. The quality of the game, the selection of songs and the notes going at a constant rhythm makes it very fun to play. Not only that but the fact that there’s gold, master, and diamond medals to challenge yourself further is very original of the game. There is only one thing that bothers me though - the slots where you can get crates gets filled up so easily that I’d have to wait for an hour or so to play again. I hope the developers would fix this ASAP. The game is really fun and has potential. If the slots are full, then make it so we can’t progress with the amount of tokens we get but yet ensures for us to continue playing whatever song we’d like without having to wait for a long time.
  • Why Beatstar is one of the best piano tile games in my opinion Sep 1, 2021

    By Alvin한나1234567891011121₩
Piano tile games have been the same for a while not innovating in my opinion. But Beatstar is definitely the best piano tile game out there in my opinion. I’ve played all the piano tile 1, 2, 3, and 4 but the way they make it user friendly and try to pick the best songs for you i really like. Also the rewarding system is really good in my opinion but i will admit its a little challenging to get the songs you want. Besides that it’s great! I love the way the stage changes once you get a long combo but also the vibrant colors and clean tiles I really like! Also you can login your supercell account and get like a trap remix of one of the supercell games and that was a great fun touch because I love brawl stars. I picked clash royale though. All around one of the best music games out there in my opinion!
  • Tap Tap Spiritual Successor Sep 9, 2021

Tap Tap was a big thing back in the day, being able to tap those dots on the screen to the rhythm of your favorite song was the best thing ever. I feel that that’s what Beatstar is, albeit, I haven’t obtained a lot of play time. I did scrounge through the library, which does have a variety of songs, although it seems to cater to only a couple generations. I did also notice that there is one atrocity for which the developers haven’t accounted for, and that’s Metal. There’s a lot of pop, pop rock, R&B, tap, etc. But there’s no hard rock, or metal. I am hoping that this can be remedy in the future, or that the ability to tie ones Apple library could become a thing. I believe that that would bring Beatstar to an entirely new level that Tap Tap wasn’t able to reach before it receded from existence.

This game is so good its mind blowing. From the songs and audio quality to the aesthetics and graphics; it’s just so good. However I really really really do not like not being able to play for fun. Once you have your chest slots full you can’t play anymore. Maybe make it to where you just don’t receive tokens when you play once your slots are full but you can still play and earn stars. I’d love to sit down and play this game for 20 minutes (or maybe even more because it’s so cool) but that’s pretty much impossible since your chest slots fill up in around 5-10 minutes of gameplay leaving you to wait hours and hours before you can play again. That is the only major complaint I have but besides that this game is 10/10 (or 5/5 stars).

So — I downloaded this just because most of the reviews said it had good rhythm and music taste. I don’t usually even write reviews, but for this game I just have to. The only reason this is a five (5), like some other reviews, I want this to be seen. One (1), the songs that are currently in the selection of September 11, 2021 aren’t the most trending songs. I do see a bit of music that I like, but it’s only 15% of the music or less. Two (2), the singers are famous ones, like Doja Cat or Sia. The songs aren’t their newest nor latest, if I’m correct. I would like it if this song has Jason Derulo, or Hasely as well. Aren’t they quite famous and have new hits as well? Three (3), This selection is a bit expensive, and I don’t have money to even buy anything as my parents wouldn’t spend much money on games. This is only a bit expensive, and not much of a complaint to me Four (4), the levels are fast and quite hard. I could just barely reach 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫, it’s like it’d just barely stay. This game is quite hard to understand There is a good this about this game though, there’s not much ads! Thank you for reading my review. ❤️ Miran Art M&A

    By Shalyssa_007

    By Dogs phosphates
  • One big flaw and one tiny flaw Sep 18, 2021

    By CrazyRut
I’m so addicted to this game!! The songs are current and or very well known the cases system allows for you to earn new songs which is great however, the greatest downfall is the case system. You only get three cases at a time to unlock new songs however when your cases are full you are done playing for a minimum of an hour and a half all the way up to five whole hours. Sometimes i just wanna replay one song over and over trying to get max perfect + on every note but i cant! How are you gonna get me addicted then tell me i can't play lol! A good solution would be to stop earning song coins for the cases but still allow me to play for the sake of earning more stars or a perfect score. I do frequently use in app purchases for this app but i just want to play! Take down the pay wall to play and we will still buy the exclusive songs and gems to advance in a song when we fail! Also if you add a gem store menu mid song when i fail, to allow me to buy some gems and continue on that would be great! These two things would make this a perfect app! You would already better than the competition if i could play all day!
  • It’s Great! With just a couple flaws… Sep 23, 2021

    By LilEmilee
I LOVE this game and I have recommended it to many others! It give option ads for additional gems or unlocking a case but unlike many other games in this genre, doesn’t force you to watch an ad between every song you play, so that is excellent! Another great thing is that the arrows in this game (usually) make great sense and aren’t just thrown in willy-nilly to make the song “more challenging”. I just have the same complaint as many others - that is the inability to continue play when all your case slots are full. From the last update, it looks like it’s a feature that might be coming soon, but as of right now, is a feature that is still current unavailable. Also, the tiniest gripe is that, unless you are playing against others, there is no incentive to get gold, platinum, or diamond on any song. It doesn’t contribute to your ranking at all, which is kind of a bummer, but it’s still something I can brag to my husband about so it’s not all in vain. 😂 All in all, it’s a great game, and if the next update does truly fix the ability to continue playing after case slots are full, it will be a 5-star game!
  • It's actually pretty good Sep 19, 2021

    By Ex0dus1
I don't normally write reviews, but as a long time fan of rhythm games I feel like I should for this one. And Beatstar is a pretty good game. It takes the formula that Piano Tiles invented, innovates a little, and cleans up a lot of the issues with that game. The UI is clean and intuitive, and the gameplay and song selection is really good. However, there are a few major criticisms that need to be said. The biggest issue is that gameplay sessions only last a certain amount of time. The game has a lootbox system for obtaining new songs, and you earn boxes by playing the game. However, if all 3 of your slots are full, the game won't let you play. It's stupid, and needs to be changed. There are a few other minor things, such as the songs being cut up and there being no progress bar to show how far into a song you are. But most of that doesn't really matter. Besides fixing the lootbox issue, I would love to see custom chart support added into the game at some point too. Custom charts really bring together rhythm games because it allows people to create their own charts, and really allows a community to grow and develop around a game.

I absolutely love this game. It's extremely refreshing to have a rythm game for mobile that doesn't shove ads down your throat at every opportunity. It's also actually challenging with more than just tap tile get points. The one thing I will say tho is it would be nice to be able to play songs even if your case inventory is full. It's kind of annoying that you have to wait hours between playing a few times when you fill up your inventory. Or at least maybe give the ad boost more plays. Maybe 10.
  • Love it- But there’s one thing… Sep 6, 2021

    By ElviraRaven
I got this game roughly 2 days ago, and I’ve been addicted to it ever since. I’m glad there’s a plethora of songs to win (especially since there’s enough songs I know from 2017 and below instead of 2018 and above and I don’t know who the heck half of these artists are); however, my one issue is the case boxes. I’m glad that it’s so easy to earn cards, but I believe you should be able to play even if the boxes are full. A simple solution would be to either lower the coin amount you receive once completing a song (or just higher the amount of coins you need to unlock the boxes), shorten the time of the cases (or just add more), or finally, my favorite solution, just let us play without winning the coins. No one would be mad about it. Now, for my more stupid complaint, where is the K-pop? I have 22 songs currently, and I only play less than 11 of them because I either hate the songs I haven’t played, dislike the artists, or simply don’t know the artists. With K-pop songs, I’d play them all even if I had no idea who the heck the group is- WHERE’S MY K-POP?

  • Oct 10, 2021

    By Dean Stokes

Use the cards to unlock genres only
  • Oct 11, 2021

    By Sam Jones
I absolutely love this game, but take issue with a few aspects. The wait time for boxes is incredibly steep, and once you reach the second level, it becomes extremely difficult to level up without it feeling like grinding in between 3-5 hour wait times. The song selection and variation of difficulties is amazing, so if it weren't so hard to progress at a reasonable speed, I'd give it five stars.

Great game! Very well put together, great selection of songs... BUT! There is virtually no progression, and a game with no progression is no game at all and doesn't make me want to keep playing it. You get to play maybe 8 songs until the game makes you unlock cases to continue playing! Which if you're like me and forget to start unlocking a case before you log off, then you practically miss an entire day's worth of play time. If this was worked out a little better you'd easily have a 5 star game

I really do love this game it's super fun! But, I would appreciate if there could be either a vote or like a suggestion box to add new songs. Also it would be nice if I could still play even when all of my box slots are full, earning stars would be a bit easier that way because I won't be as limited. Back to song recommendations, please please pleeeaasse add "Puppy Princess" by hot freaks in the game! It's my favorite song and it would be awesome to play! Other than that great game!
  • Great idea. Sep 5, 2021

    By AceVariable4017/Variouspoisons
Good game, being very unique, difficult, and fun. However, Im not giving it 5 stars, because of two HUGE things. 1 - cases and leveling up can be a bit of a grind especially with only having three slots and a massive jump in score difference with hard and normal songs, and no max star difference, BUT not being able to play when the crate slots are full? Thats absolutely stupid, what if you want to play for fun or keep playing to attempt earning more stars to level up and progress? You cant. 2 - some songs are more than just hard, but are insane with some newer phones (Im on iphone) because the response times for games on my iphone 12, are about 1/2 or 3/4 of my iphone 7, and theres no home button so on top of having a swarm of things on screen, theres also the slide points, and the ones that angle down will lower the screen, and will NOT pause the game (because its not like tabbing out) so things will continue. I really like this game but with the phone model I have I almost feel put at a disadvantage for having it when it comes to harder songs or ones that mix up things in that weird way, and the case situation especially bothers me.

(1st review was deleted!) So much wasted potential. The game is great but you really need to spend money to play longer then a few songs and if you pay money you can't even pick what songs you want to unlock. The boxes timers take way way way to long. Therefor money 5$ a week is needed to play longer. It's a money grab hidden under other stuff. But it's a great and fun game it just needs some major tweaks right now. Also being able to challenge friends would be cool, instead of a leader board

This is a fantastic game with an extremely smooth, high quality interface that can be quite fun and addictive. I've played mobile rhythm games that throw together much of the actual rhythm part, but this was put together by devs that know what they are doing, and the songs are very satisfying to play. That makes me all the more saddened the fact that the microtransactions/pay ceiling is extremely aggressive in this game, and the prices for a handful of songs or in-game currency is too high.

You don't

So first of all, I really like the game. It's distracting and engaging, it's fantastic. But I can't recommend the game while the bug I'm experiencing persists. I've been entirely shut out of my account; When I attempt to load the game, I am immediately told something went wrong and it reloads only to do the same thing. I attempted to uninstall and reinstall, and the tutorial worked perfectly fine. I try to log into my account and the bug resurfaces.

Hello beatstar. Thanks for the reply. It seems you changed your strategy. Your strategy is to get people to pay money for a feature that allows you to actually play. You would get more people to play your game, if you actually let them play. Don't just include a paywall or forced ads in your game to allow us to practise. Just allow us to practise our songs. If you reply with something about this 5 star nonsense, you will receive a 1. You will only receive a 5 if you give us the ability to play.

  • What a horrible pay to play change Oct 13, 2021

    By jayjaynicknametaken
I used to like Beatstar, but their game has become horrible to play after their updates. Essentially, you could play this game for hours in its early release days. Now, they have a “box” system which essentially limits your playtime to about 20-25 minutes, after which point unlocking a box (which takes 3-5 hours) allows you to keep playing. So, if you wake up and play for 20 minutes, you can’t play again for another 3 hours with out paying gems (which cost money). After 3 hours and opening the box, you then only get to play an additional 10 or so minutes before again, your boxes are full and they won’t allow you to play unless you pay gems ($). An app that can’t be played for more than a half hour consecutively with out payment (and btw, their in app purchase prices are WAY higher than they need to be to pay artist royalties, they are milking a lot of money from those who buy gems/songs) is not an app that is worth much. So… 1 star Let us play for more than 10-20 minutes at a time (with out price gouging us) and I’ll happily update my review and stars rating. At the very least, give us 4 or 5 “countdown” boxes so the true fans can dig into the game.
  • The game has an error this company hasn’t fixed Oct 5, 2021

    By bonziii303
So, I like this game despite is predatory practices in paying to be allowed to play the songs you have purchased, there is no way to practice songs and once you fill just 3 chest slots your required to pay to open them or wait at least 3 hours to to just play a song you have purchased. There isn’t even a restart button, they want you to pay to play. The current issue is there is a bug which seems to be connected to accounts that have purchased chests or unlimited play that breaks your game and when you load the game even after a force close or a phone restart or after you reinstall the game that loads an error message restarts the app into another error and this is an endless loop with no way out. There really isn’t support for this game, they have been unresponsive to the community and have yet to announce any fix or update via there social networks and this started popping up over a week ago. In its current form this game is a scam and unfortunately those of us who are waiting for a guitar hero/rock band on iOSandroid should stay away from this product.
  • Bate and switch?!?! Really!! Oct 17, 2021

    By David368
I like the game I really do. It reminds me of my guitar hero days on Xbox. Your game offered me for $9.99 a five song bundle and it showed me a selection of about 10 or so songs. I seen the five songs that I wanted and so I purchased the five song bundle but then the game randomly selected the five songs for me with out an option to skip the selected song in order to select the ones I wanted. So I ended up with songs that I absolutely have no interest in at all what so ever. Now that’s a text book definition of bate and switch. • Music game out of sync (smh) Sep 8, 2021

    By Waste of time90210
It’s too bad that this game completely BROKEN. While it has a lot of popular songs you’ve at least heard playing and it’s easy to learn, quite frankly the worst execution for a music game I’ve ever seen. I am an experienced GH and RB player, played on expert. If you are casual with no drive to be perfect, this game is for you. EVERYONE ELSE with rhythm, don’t waste your time. The game lags at random times that causes you to miss a perfect and break your streak, which then causes you to lose the max score. In settings you can adjust the visual and audio sync, but this doesn’t help as it doesn’t fix the lag. Certain songs have even more lag and you have no chance to score high. Has a rewards structure similar to clash Royale. “Chests” that open over time and give you rewards to unlock songs. Some complain about this, but that’s the money making part. However this is also a huge problem due to design. There are only 3 spots and once they’re filled up you can’t play. Not even to practice for 0 rewards… A GAME THAT LOCKS YOU OUT, SERIOUS? Will never be P2W as this game has too many serious flaws.
  • Amazing game with a fatal flaw… Sep 1, 2021

    By Caoseater
tdlr: You literally can’t play the game when box slots are full. This game looked amazing when I first got it and gameplay wise it still is. I was having a blast for the first hour I played it. Little did I know that the box slots at the bottom could fill up to a max and prevent me from playing. The smallest box takes an hour and a half to open. You can only open one box at a time so if you have 3 boxes of the LOWEST rating; that’s 4.5 hours you have to wait for all of the boxes to open. There will probably be time in between each box unlock too considering you have to manually start each unlock. This wouldn’t be that bad if the boxes were difficult to get. But no, it takes 3 song plays to get one box which is like 10 minutes. So you could probably play for about 30 minutes on empty box slots before they fill up. Most likely though, you will want to PLAY THE GAME when you opened the app in the first place. Sadly, you will only have about 10 minutes of play time due to one box being opened when you opened the app. This is PRIME money milking as the premium currency is required to insta-open boxes. The game may as well be locked behind a paywall at this point and if this stupid feature stays then this rating isn’t changing. I will continuously rewrite it too until it changes. If I see my rating is gone, I’ll do it again. Would be a 5 star without paywall. I was so excited to play what seemed like a great game too. To bad I can’t play it…
  • Ablest, Unfun, Time waster. Sep 10, 2021

As many people, I began playing this game to waste some time during the day. Issues soon arised within the first couple of days. I play on ios and have experienced screen sliding due to arrow keys within the game. Causing me to fail because the game will continue to run while I quickly shuffle back to the game. Not only that, the game seems to be repetitive and boring. Only allowing new songs every couple of days without having to watch millions of ads. Not only that, there is no way to change internal game settings. Such as screen colors, light and dark. Changing other color aspects for blind people. The ability the remove key types and replace them with others, etc. The list goes on for things this game is lacking. There’s also been multiple times where the rhythm in game was off or missed keys that I clearly tapped. My Iphone is up to date with no issues nor screen blemishes. The only good thing about this game is the songs.
  • Great game bad crate mechanic, even worse “fix” Oct 7, 2021

    By Rob4499
This is actually fun and challenging but once you fill up your case slots, you can’t play until the one of them unlocks. Right now I have to wait and hour and 20 minutes. At least let us play the game. I’m not spending a dime to unlock 1 crate to fill it up in just a few songs. Very bad mechanic. Just let me play the game without needed to spend my gems or money. 2 stars for the cash wall needed to play the game. And before you get the idea don't do “watch this ad for another 30 minutes of free play”. Instant uninstall if that’s the case. Update: thought they had good intentions when they said they will have a way for unlimited play. I first thought maybe a one time purchase was gonna be a thing but I was doubtful. Then I thought they would do a monthly sub thing, which is a no for me. But they stooped even lower than that! $5 for unlimited play…wait for it… for A WEEK!!! Talk about scummy. Deleting this app.
  • Case slot mechanic Sep 18, 2021

    By Jake Boop
Y’all already know from the countless other reviews mentioning the case slot mechanic. This game would have 5 stars from me for sure if I could play it more than 5 minutes every few hours. The amount of money you would have to spend in order to make it enjoyable would just be outrageous. Edit: the best substitution for this in my eyes would be to make that a currency that has no cap, you play a song and earn points and then when you have a box you spend your currency on that and if your slots are full, you still acquire the points towards the next one. And maybe shift the paywall to unlocking extra slots or unlocking multiple at a time. Maybe even make it cost more points to unlock a box, anything would be better than the mechanic that is in place right now. Because it doesn’t take long for people to get tired of waiting 3-5 hours to play for 5 minutes and before you know it, we delete it.
