  • Fun but a Total Waste of Time if You’re Serious about Backgammon Dec 12, 2017

    By Debo1013
If you are an experienced backgammon player, this game is a total waste of your time. Aside from the obvious bogus “lures” like “double your winnings or nothing”- and - a multitude of ways that the game tries to get you to purchase coins....the dice are totally rigged against the pre-determined player that’s going to lose and the number of repeat doubles that can occur is laughable. It is difficult to believe that any real skill enters into this and frankly if you look at some people’s (I assume they’re all human.) level & coins, but lackluster win rate, one has to seriously wonder. However the most annoying aspect of this game is when you’ve built up your coin count to a good level and all of a sudden the board scrolls to the higher end games with the absolute certainty that it’s going to freeze on and initiate a game that you absolutely do not want to play. Of course once the room has been “chosen”, there’s no way to back out! This is infuriating! I’ve actually won a lot of those games, but if not, you’re forced to build up your stash from scratch. Having said all of this, the game is fun to play to the point of addiction and it’s a hoot to play with people from all over the world - but I’m tired off having to “rebuild” when it’s through no fault of my own or my ability.

...and find all the negative reviews overblown and a little ludicrous. First, it can't be "rigged" against everyone. Surely half the players are winning. I have played thousands of games, maybe tens of thousands. Some times I am the one with incredibly lucky rolls and sometimes it's my opponent. How would the game go about "choosing" a winner? And why? My record is at 45% and I have paid zero for coins; haven't spent a dime. There are problems. The probability of either player rolling a six on the first and second turns is monstrously high. This makes me think the RNG is not that random. Second, it does seem that, once the coin total gets to 60,000 there is always an "accidental" game that takes all of your coins. But that is not such a big deal either. Remember, I pay nothing and, to me, it is the same game whether I'm betting 250 or 10,000.

Good interactive, good graphics, but too much coincidence to be random dice rolls. I can literally call the rolls before they happen in many situations; the AI opponent always gets the exact roll needed every time to bail out of a hole I've put them in; AI opp. will consistently get strings of high rolls while I get string of low rolls, just when they need to catch up; I know less than half way through a game who the winner is. Such predictably makes the game deletable, and not worth playing.

I have bought no coins. Maybe that’s the problem. Ran my bank up to 100k+. Have not won a game in 10 days. Doesn’t matter what level of player I face, without exception they get out of purgatory on the first sometimes second roll. I might have 5 of 6 rows blocked and they get the perfect roll- too consistently to be random. It’s laughable how when my opponent needs a certain die roll, it happens with laughable certainty. I have found myself in purgatory for 10 consecutive rolls on 2 occasions with only 3 rows blocked, although as you might expect with that many failed rolls the “real live” opponent manages to fill all rows with ease and perfect die rolls. My conclusion is that after a certain period of time, if you’re not buying coins you’re not going to be allowed to win. Also when I was winning I noticed that when my opponent loses internet access, they lose their initial bet. When I fall off, I lose double my bet. It’s a fix and it’s not too bad. The game is fun to play...

I enjoy playing this game but wish there weren't so many new windows aimed at encouraging users to make purchases. I also don't like the "tip the dealer" move at the end of each game. Since when is there a dealer at backgammon? This is nothing but a thinly veiled mechanism to diminish the winner's prize so as to make it more likely that you'll purchase coins. Not happening!! I agree with the comment that says the game cheats. All too often dice rolls give results that don't appear random. It's clear that the game employs algorithms designed to influence the game in favor of one player. While I wouldn’t say the game is “rigged,” it does produce results fairly consistently in certain situations that don’t appear random. For example, markers left uncovered more than 6 spaces away from an opponent’s marker get hit with a frequency that I suspect you’d have trouble replicating with a roll of real dice. And that’s just one example of many I could give if I wished to go on.

Seems fun at first, but once you get several thousand coins it seems like you are playing bots. As soon as I have one checker open, they always seem to roll the exact number to land on it. Odds definitely seem stacked against the player. The game is also constantly flashig pop-ups in the menu to buy more coins. The app also encourages gambling away your coins so you have to buy more. Seems like a total scam.

Have to agree with the too many negative reviews here, I have been so in the lead, so many times, and the opponent gets precise dice just at the right time or piles of doubles, and I get all the wrong ones, literally every game, yet I play this game in the real world for over 40 years, and it never happens like that ever. Obviously your opponent will have some kind of cheat, or it's a bot that you will never beat. It's such a shame that the game has brilliant graphics etc. But odds are stacked.

  • Five doubles in a row for my opponent Jan 28, 2018

Does anyone make a fair backgammon game? I just downloaded this game. Fixed rolls already wow! By the fourth game my opponent received double sixes on the second roll. Double fours on the third roll. Double ones twice. Then five more doubles in a row to swiftly win. My last three rolls were a two and one. Three times while the opponent rolled nine sets of doubles. And this was just my first ten minutes of play. And my last. Sadly as the graphics looked nice. It’s all about the making you buy coins. As soon as I Lost it sent me directly to all the buy now offers. UPDATE: Just to be fair I played a few more times. On one game when I had all the points blocked and taking them off with three of the opponents pieces on the bar he came back to hit one of my final four pieces. I got ones and twos five times in a row as that was the only two points he had blocked. He came back for an incredible win from behind. I then actually won two games and was asked to play my NEW board. The first two rolls for the opponent were double fives and sixes. He doubled and being my third roll I accepted. Wrong move as he continued to roll double after double. Fourteen doubles for the whole game. That is an impossibility unless the DICE and GAME are RIGGED. I put myself through college playing tournaments and would just like a bit of fun without such blatant cheating.

I am generally a good backgammon player but this game makes it impossible to play. I even spent money on this game, thinking maybe they just favor the people that are willing to spend money, but that was a clear mistake. How can I sit there having two openings to come on to the board on the opponents side and play 12 rounds of not rolling a single number I need to come out, But as soon as I knock an opponents peg off, And they only have one opening to come onto the board, that is exactly what they roll. I have had several games where I am ahead by quite a bit But then as we are taking them off the board my opponent always seems to roll multiple doubles to win the game. I even entered a tournament, where my coins got taken from me but I never was able to play a game, it just popped up saying “You Lost”. Another trick they do... I have had several games where I have been way ahead and was obviously going to win and all of the sudden it pops up saying no Internet connection, even though my Wi-Fi strength is just fine, then it says “You Lost”. I am sick of unfair games, I just wanted to play against real people instead of computers but that was a big mistake. I don’t like playing with cheaters but I especially don’t like playing a game that is rigged. Do not spend your money on this app. I will be uninstalling it now!!! 😡

Fun. The pip count gets covered by Done/Undo controls. Step your game up, instead of whining about the rolls of the dice . Addictive, free. You get a timeout, if you run out of free coins. Never fear, after that, you will get a few free coins to get you back to playing free. Occasionally, there is a bonus roulette wheel that pop up, and spins to give you free tokens. You will always get a low number, despite number of higher values, or how often you spin.

I’ve played this game several years ago and quit because it’s one of the worse games ever. I play in real time a lot and never would there be allowed some of the things that happen on this one. It’s just a game but a lot of the players have run other players away because of what they do. If you want to know try monitoring the game every once and awhile you would be able to see that most players don’t play to win but they play to back you into a corner and ask you to give up the point has always be to win not to play into a position that the opponent can’t win because you blocked all the moves but you did not win just set it up so no one could win

They are nothing to do with Backgammon. They are childish, and stupid. If you insist on having them, give us one which tells the opponent how stupid they make themselves look.

  • Fails on first roll Nov 12, 2020

    By mago kazan
This game is almost perfect but there is one major flaw: it does not handle the first roll in accordance with recognized tournament rules. The official Backgammon Tournament rules say: “Each player throws a single die to begin the game and the player with the larger die plays both dice as his first move.” But this app randomly assigns who the first roller is, and that player can start the game with whatever roll he/she throws. The problem is that if you don’t do the first roll according to the official rules, you allow the opening player the chance to roll a double, which usually confers a large advantage right from the start. Starting with a 6-6 for example gives the second player way fewer chances. Same for a 4-4, 3-3, 2-2, even a 1-1 confers a significant but random advantage from the get-go. This is not only contrary to accepted rules, but annoying. Other than that the app is fine.

Very well thought app. The perks of points and number of wins give an extremely useful tool to measure how you are doing. A great database of players, no waiting. I am totally hooked. Things to improve: 1 - The ranking of players is incomprehensible. No matter how much you play or how you perform, your ranking does not seem to follow. 2 - when you are challenged to a double, the request fills the screen so you can't see your screen and the game to decide whenever you accept the double challenge or not. 3 - The default first move is always to the highest dice. The option of moving on the lowest dice first should be made easily available. 4 - there should be a way of pausing the game - while protecting it from abuse - as unavailability for a few seconds makes you lose too fast. This is too stressful for what is still a board game. 5 - When à player suddenly quits the game, he/she loses all the bet plus double or triple points if that is the then course of the game. However, the winning player does not get these additional winning points. Where does the difference go. The administrator should stop eating up all those points lost by a player but not allowed to be gained by the others You better have a good internet connection or you are s...... My favourite game app bar none.

This is a pretty fun app for playing free backgammon. Doesn't overwhelm me with ads (I think I've only received ads for in game purchases), and it's active enough that there is someone out there in the world who will play backgammon with you any time of day or night. The dice algorithm could use a little work, which is my only major complaint. Gameplay is mostly fair and consistent, but the dice do tend to favor an established losing or winning streak.

If you double first you have a much better chance of winning. When you play someone with no money they will most likely win. It really spoils the game when the player with no funds doubles and you can't up the stakes because they have no money. Plus when you double, it becomes auto rolls and you know you're going to lose but you're stuck. Why does it switch to auto roll if you don't make that choice yourself? Yet they say, it's not rigged.

I find thr dice random algorithm a bit of a mystery. Many times I've been playing and the other player has not only rolled double 6 twice in a row but I have had at least 3 occasions where the opponent has magically managed to roll high dice doubles 4 or 5 times in a row. Mathematically very improbable.

Beautiful graphics and captivating music. I enjoy playing if I'm not invested in winning. I don't think the app has any built-in cheats, but it's obvious that they don't have blocks for individual players who have purchased cheats. Beware of anybody with a score above 1600. You can only achieve that if you have a cheat app. However, anybody up to about 1,400 is probably not using a cheat app. I researched this and apparently you pay more for the quality of cheat app you use.

Rigged , as well as the perfect dice opponents seem to throw regularly, it always hesitates sightly before the double 6 comes in. I think it's rigged to encourage coin purchases. I even did a test where I was trying to get my balance down to zero to see how it would react and I was getting home runs on the roulette on individual numbers 3 times in a row. Shame because it's a great game but i don't trust it In response I threw the same 5 and 2 three times in a row, then the opponent twice ..

Since 2018: 2 stars. no chat is good in these foul mouthed times. Starting doubles is too determinative. Quitters are rewarded (if quit when gammon 20% likely, it is never suffered, =0%). The random number generator isn't - please go purchase a premium product. The "vault" is insulting - much cheaper coin offers daily. Frequently paired with players with no extra money = no double available, no gammon available; that ain't right. Dec7: 5 complaints, and they "cherry pick" the easy one.

I realize that you folks use some type of program to keep the integreity of the dice. Sometimes of course I feel like its rigged. who doesnt? Ive noticed that there is alittle pattern with the dice.In the beginning I was hittin it. Than out of no where my dice were lagging. It did t seem?like it wasnt giving me any random rolls .small sets.

  • Don’t buy coins Aug 19, 2019

    By bbaacckkggaammoonn
The rolls ARE rigged. The developers may be accurate when they say the number of doubles is equal for all players. But, they have rigged doubles so they hit when they are bad for you or when the game is already mathematically over. They have also rigged it so getting in off the bar is far less likely than a random roll distribution. Finally, your opponent will get way more than his/her fair share of hits on your single stones and vice versa. Expect to get hit more than 50% of the time, rather than just over 1/3 of the time and expect to hit your opponent less than 1/4 of the time. I suspect many opponents are computerized and not real people. Bottom line, the game graphics are great, but if you buy coins, the game will drain you with bad rolls and via the house take on all your wins. So don’t buy coins, take advantage of the bonuses and play on the low value tables.

I know the developers claim it’s not rigged, so explain why the bonus wheel NEVER pays out the top amounts? Almost always hits on 100 or 150. Also, by the very rules of the game, it’s impossible to start the game with doubles as the initial roll. I’ve played over 12,000 games on BL, I’m still well below 50% win rate, been playing all my life, I see more extended runs of “bad luck” on this app than any live game experience. Multiple 18-1 rolls in the same game is virtually impossible, but I’ve seen it many times by the opponent. I’ve lost many, many more games with the opponent rolling doubles on the last roll than I’ve ever won. Luckily, I know the secret to add coins without ever having to buy them. I’ll never purchase coins from this site again. After posting this got the exact same response everyone else gets about their. RNG. Ironic that they even use a bot to reply?
