  • Fun but a Total Waste of Time if You’re Serious about Backgammon Dec 12, 2017

    By Debo1013
If you are an experienced backgammon player, this game is a total waste of your time. Aside from the obvious bogus “lures” like “double your winnings or nothing”- and - a multitude of ways that the game tries to get you to purchase coins....the dice are totally rigged against the pre-determined player that’s going to lose and the number of repeat doubles that can occur is laughable. It is difficult to believe that any real skill enters into this and frankly if you look at some people’s (I assume they’re all human.) level & coins, but lackluster win rate, one has to seriously wonder. However the most annoying aspect of this game is when you’ve built up your coin count to a good level and all of a sudden the board scrolls to the higher end games with the absolute certainty that it’s going to freeze on and initiate a game that you absolutely do not want to play. Of course once the room has been “chosen”, there’s no way to back out! This is infuriating! I’ve actually won a lot of those games, but if not, you’re forced to build up your stash from scratch. Having said all of this, the game is fun to play to the point of addiction and it’s a hoot to play with people from all over the world - but I’m tired off having to “rebuild” when it’s through no fault of my own or my ability.

...and find all the negative reviews overblown and a little ludicrous. First, it can't be "rigged" against everyone. Surely half the players are winning. I have played thousands of games, maybe tens of thousands. Some times I am the one with incredibly lucky rolls and sometimes it's my opponent. How would the game go about "choosing" a winner? And why? My record is at 45% and I have paid zero for coins; haven't spent a dime. There are problems. The probability of either player rolling a six on the first and second turns is monstrously high. This makes me think the RNG is not that random. Second, it does seem that, once the coin total gets to 60,000 there is always an "accidental" game that takes all of your coins. But that is not such a big deal either. Remember, I pay nothing and, to me, it is the same game whether I'm betting 250 or 10,000.

I'm really confused as to how people with much higher levels can play the first, because out of all my games so far, about 97% I have lost because my opponent is higher level which doesn't really seem fair to newer players. i wish there were more restrictions to what levels you have to be to play certain boards. also anytime my chip is stuck in the middle, 80% of my rolls are 'no moves available' while I have only seen out if all my opponents, get that maybe 2 times.

I have bought no coins. Maybe that’s the problem. Ran my bank up to 100k+. Have not won a game in 10 days. Doesn’t matter what level of player I face, without exception they get out of purgatory on the first sometimes second roll. I might have 5 of 6 rows blocked and they get the perfect roll- too consistently to be random. It’s laughable how when my opponent needs a certain die roll, it happens with laughable certainty. I have found myself in purgatory for 10 consecutive rolls on 2 occasions with only 3 rows blocked, although as you might expect with that many failed rolls the “real live” opponent manages to fill all rows with ease and perfect die rolls. My conclusion is that after a certain period of time, if you’re not buying coins you’re not going to be allowed to win. Also when I was winning I noticed that when my opponent loses internet access, they lose their initial bet. When I fall off, I lose double my bet. It’s a fix and it’s not too bad. The game is fun to play...

Good connection for online players. A bit over the top with alternative gambling as that is not my reason to play with other humans. I like playing and doubling on a board is fun, I like playing with other people. The coin purchase I tried once but it is not really necessary if you wait a day you can play.

If you accept, you will lose, even if you are winning at that moment. This game will pass you off at how blatantly rigged the games are. When your opponent gets 3 double 6's IN A ROW, something might be wrong with the algorithm of this game. And this happens quite a bit...and strangely, never for me. Hmmm....and it always seems to happen after I have made a purchase to keep playing. And don't give me the same form letter response you give the dozens and dozens of other players with the same issue. Your "Random Number Generator" is busted.

On Facebook I am up to about level 55 or close and played for over three years. Then they changed their format and wanted me to up grade. • Five doubles in a row for my opponent Jan 28, 2018

Does anyone make a fair backgammon game? I just downloaded this game. Fixed rolls already wow! By the fourth game my opponent received double sixes on the second roll. Double fours on the third roll. Double ones twice. Then five more doubles in a row to swiftly win. My last three rolls were a two and one. Three times while the opponent rolled nine sets of doubles. And this was just my first ten minutes of play. And my last. Sadly as the graphics looked nice. It’s all about the making you buy coins. As soon as I Lost it sent me directly to all the buy now offers. UPDATE: Just to be fair I played a few more times. On one game when I had all the points blocked and taking them off with three of the opponents pieces on the bar he came back to hit one of my final four pieces. I got ones and twos five times in a row as that was the only two points he had blocked. He came back for an incredible win from behind. I then actually won two games and was asked to play my NEW board. The first two rolls for the opponent were double fives and sixes. He doubled and being my third roll I accepted. Wrong move as he continued to roll double after double. Fourteen doubles for the whole game. That is an impossibility unless the DICE and GAME are RIGGED. I put myself through college playing tournaments and would just like a bit of fun without such blatant cheating.

I’ve been playing this version for a few years now. With this last update the game keeps freezing. Only way to get out is to delete the app and reinstall. This has happened twice today. Fix this. Annoying (previous complaint). Ok this is getting so bad. You keep doing updates so offen. Then it freezes you out. I enjoy this game. Today, But so frustrated. I keep re downloading and it starts me over as I’m a new person. I’m at level 66 with over 700,000 points. I’ve earn my place where I’m at. Now to have to start over. I want to resume where I was at. Over the last few months I’ve have frozen up so many times it’s unreal. Every time I had to delete the app and re download. I’ve always been able to continue where I was at. Why can I not now?

I enjoy playing this game but wish there weren't so many new windows aimed at encouraging users to make purchases. I also don't like the "tip the dealer" move at the end of each game. Since when is there a dealer at backgammon? This is nothing but a thinly veiled mechanism to diminish the winner's prize so as to make it more likely that you'll purchase coins. Not happening!! I agree with the comment that says the game cheats. All too often dice rolls give results that don't appear random. It's clear that the game employs algorithms designed to influence the game in favor of one player. While I wouldn’t say the game is “rigged,” it does produce results fairly consistently in certain situations that don’t appear random. For example, markers left uncovered more than 6 spaces away from an opponent’s marker get hit with a frequency that I suspect you’d have trouble replicating with a roll of real dice. And that’s just one example of many I could give if I wished to go on.

  • Fails on first roll Nov 12, 2020

    By mago kazan
This game is almost perfect but there is one major flaw: it does not handle the first roll in accordance with recognized tournament rules. The official Backgammon Tournament rules say: “Each player throws a single die to begin the game and the player with the larger die plays both dice as his first move.” But this app randomly assigns who the first roller is, and that player can start the game with whatever roll he/she throws. The problem is that if you don’t do the first roll according to the official rules, you allow the opening player the chance to roll a double, which usually confers a large advantage right from the start. Starting with a 6-6 for example gives the second player way fewer chances. Same for a 4-4, 3-3, 2-2, even a 1-1 confers a significant but random advantage from the get-go. This is not only contrary to accepted rules, but annoying. Other than that the app is fine.

How is it my opponent can roll doubles 4 times in a row ? Or roll doubles a dozen times in a game? And when I roll a double it's useless because the space is blocked. Effectively making the game unwinnable for me. One time would be a fluke, but this happens a lot.

As much as I love playing backgammon, I have some reservations on the algorithm of this game. It is VERY obviously rigged with the “so-called” random rolls of the dice! You can pretty much predict the opponents next roll when you have a man open. Yep - they got the number they needed to get you out. Okay, whatever I can deal with that. But really does one person roll 7 doubles in one game? Come on developers... make it not SO obvious! At the end of the game sometimes an option comes up that you can “double or nothing” with your winnings - BEWARE don’t do it! You will lose 90% of the time. The graphics of the game are nice, being able to play at all the different tables is fun and I really like the options of dice to use. In conclusion, game is fun and addictive but is rigged at time. Oh well it’s just a game, right?

Now, i have 2270 points. I play the game with 250 points bet. My opponent doubles, I accept and win the game. Supposedly +500 points. But my total becomes 2621 instead of 2770. Is it me? Or your calculator is broken? Just wanted to add- just played a game. Having 64K points and played 5K points game, doubled it, continued playing and won. Your calculator shows up 19K points ( no idea why) but when i go back to lobby I see only 69K my total points, where i should’ve had at least +10K and a total of at least 74K points . Please explain what is going on??? Just strange - when i need points you sell them to me, when i win points you do not give them. Would really like to hear the explanation.

  • Dice are definitely rigged Feb 6, 2020

    By bduerr
I was hoping for a decent online backgammon game where I could hone my gaming skills with all sorts of players. Instead I found a game where like others have said, the system is programmed to force you into buying more chips. There are days it seems the game is fair and I will win and lose as normal. And other days where the dice are doing everything they can to force me lose. You can’t play someone who’s rolling several doubles in one game. By several, I mean six to ten sets. I started counting because it was getting so obnoxious. This happened tonight four games in a row. How can you play against that? You can’t. All I want is a fair game and this program is not it.

  • Careful with your coins! Apr 25, 2018

    By Atlanta 19736392
Seems like this app is all about the coins. How to get them and how fast you lose them. You need to wade your way thru several pop ups that are either selling you coins or taking them before being able to play. Once you get to a game it feels rigged, sometimes for you but usually against you. The rolls are very biased - who rolls double 5 twice in three turns?? I’ve played at least ten games in a row where the opening roll was 6/2 - really?? That said it can be fun to play. Just be sure not to leave the app open. The slightest touch and you’ve lost at a large bet game without even knowing.

  • Don’t buy coins Aug 19, 2019

    By bbaacckkggaammoonn
The rolls ARE rigged. The developers may be accurate when they say the number of doubles is equal for all players. But, they have rigged doubles so they hit when they are bad for you or when the game is already mathematically over. They have also rigged it so getting in off the bar is far less likely than a random roll distribution. Finally, your opponent will get way more than his/her fair share of hits on your single stones and vice versa. Expect to get hit more than 50% of the time, rather than just over 1/3 of the time and expect to hit your opponent less than 1/4 of the time. I suspect many opponents are computerized and not real people. Bottom line, the game graphics are great, but if you buy coins, the game will drain you with bad rolls and via the house take on all your wins. So don’t buy coins, take advantage of the bonuses and play on the low value tables.

I know the developers claim it’s not rigged, so explain why the bonus wheel NEVER pays out the top amounts? Almost always hits on 100 or 150. Also, by the very rules of the game, it’s impossible to start the game with doubles as the initial roll. I’ve played over 12,000 games on BL, I’m still well below 50% win rate, been playing all my life, I see more extended runs of “bad luck” on this app than any live game experience. Multiple 18-1 rolls in the same game is virtually impossible, but I’ve seen it many times by the opponent. I’ve lost many, many more games with the opponent rolling doubles on the last roll than I’ve ever won. Luckily, I know the secret to add coins without ever having to buy them. I’ll never purchase coins from this site again. After posting this got the exact same response everyone else gets about their. RNG. Ironic that they even use a bot to reply?

  • Rigged dice unless you pay? Nov 23, 2019

    By LC Tofu
Tried over and over to give this a chance, but it is unreal how completely lopsided the rolls are. I’ve played backgammon for over 30 years with pros in NYC, and while I’m certainly not the world’s best player by any stretch, I know when the dice are stacked in a video game. I’ve watched opponents with over $300,000 in coins play terribly and then roll the magic numbers to come in on one open spot over and over, followed by strings of doubles. This happens regularly. I have to assume many of these coin-rich players bought them, which is their prerogative. It just seems that those players get the rolls, perhaps as a reward? Anyway, the mechanics and visuals of the game are good and it can be fun, but boy does it feel like the dice are in need of some algorithm attention.

  • Time to Re-Evaluate the RNG Aug 14, 2019

    By CAMommyof2
I received a response to my prior review which was a robot response, shocking that it was the same response to everybody else’s review. I find it odd that people who don’t know each other all have the same review and yet the developers all have the same robot response which is that the game is not rigged and has a Random Number Generator. So this is where I say to the developers maybe you should take the time to possibly re-evaluate your random number generator if you have gotten so many reviews stating the fact that we think the game is rigged. I honestly think it’s impossible to roll a six and a 5 seven times in a row in the same game but yet it happened.

    By Nashell83
I am generally a good backgammon player but this game makes it impossible to play. I even spent money on this game, thinking maybe they just favor the people that are willing to spend money, but that was a clear mistake. How can I sit there having two openings to come on to the board on the opponents side and play 12 rounds of not rolling a single number I need to come out, But as soon as I knock an opponents peg off, And they only have one opening to come onto the board, that is exactly what they roll. I have had several games where I am ahead by quite a bit But then as we are taking them off the board my opponent always seems to roll multiple doubles to win the game. I even entered a tournament, where my coins got taken from me but I never was able to play a game, it just popped up saying “You Lost”. Another trick they do... I have had several games where I have been way ahead and was obviously going to win and all of the sudden it pops up saying no Internet connection, even though my Wi-Fi strength is just fine, then it says “You Lost”. I am sick of unfair games, I just wanted to play against real people instead of computers but that was a big mistake. I don’t like playing with cheaters but I especially don’t like playing a game that is rigged. Do not spend your money on this app. I will be uninstalling it now!!! 😡
