The system concept is great however there are lots of technical issues. The app connection to a Samsung watch drops frequently during a round. I have had 4 faulty sensors in 4 months and I'm still waiting for the 1st replacement so currently only have 10 working. The link shot detection is inconsistent. The data and info you get is amazing but these issues need to be fixed if I'm going to extend my subscription

Played 4 rounds and I learn something new each time. Be patient and learn how the app functions. First of all, I wear my iPhone on my belt clip with the microphone/speakers directed at ball. It has never missed a shot. Even tap in putts. It keeps perfect score and moves from hole to hole seamlessly. After round it is fairly easy to edit shots for accuracy of data. Fairways, putts off green, penalty shots etc. The best hidden feature is the yardage tracking after each shot. Just swipe up from bottom and see how far you are from the last hit. Great for helping you find blind and wayward shots in rough, etc. If you want to take a practice shot during round, leave phone in your cart so it’s not recorded. Easily see your club yardage averages and longest shots for each club. I’m really looking forward to a season of accumulated data to tell me the facts of my golf game.

The club data is awesome, but the app is clunky and glitchy, and it takes FOREVER to start up and even worse when syncing with Apple Watch. More often than not it never is ready for the first hole. You can’t start up the app while you are still warming up because it starts tracking shots. The app eats battery on iPhone XR because it REQUIRES location services to be set to “Always” and my Series 3 watch is dicey for making it through a round. Use a separate GPS or range finder if you don’t want to keep referring to your phone in the event the app drains the watch battery. Having said all that, I renewed after the 90 day free trial, because of the shot distance/location data that it collects when everything works is eye opening. No longer fooling myself on how far (short) I really hit. We’ll see if they can improve the sync and battery issues over the next year. It won’t be the worst $100 I’ve spent on golf gadgets.

Last year the app was great, never had any issues. This year I updated the app and also got a LINK, it initially worked well, once the update came through it no longer works. Even using the app in my pocket does not to seem to work properly anymore. I use this for my stats and share with my coach regularly, but cannot give him accurate stats of late due to the issues.

I’ve been using this for about 3 years now and have enjoyed getting feedback on my game and the caddie feature to help account for wind, slope, etc. A few years ago, I was able to get the app on my iPad but I am no longer able to do this. I would really like to have this feature back as it is nice to be able to review my rounds or view the course layout the day before playing to plan a strategy for holes. Customer service is great. I played a course a few times prior, but when I went to play it again, they told me it wasn’t mapped. I called in on a Saturday when teeing off and within a couple holes, they had remapped the course and I was able to reload the course and use it going forward.

Lots of drop-outs and GPS disconnects meaning missed shots and even missed holes. Sometimes it even means giving up, turning the Link off, closing the app and going 'old school'. Post-round editing after every round is necessary, so don't stop manually recording stats. But the data is incredibly useful in identifying areas for improvement and identifying the best 'bang for your buck' practice.

Been using the system for a few years. Very easy to use and very good at tracking, club suggestions, and overall stats. Still needs to correct the missed shots issue. Doesn't happen on every hole but still it can be annoying. I prefer the sensors as opposed to the grips.

I’ve been using this app for 20 rounds now and it is amazing how easy it is to use and how much information it provides. It does take a little bit of time to get used to correcting things on the course but I do it all after every hole and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to correct everything before the next hole. This is easy to do while you wait for someone to take the next shot. But once you get the hang of this it is so cool to see an image of your entire round hole by hole and have all the stats you need including average distance by club. This is definitely worth the money and it’s been a ton of fun.

I’ve been using Arccos for a year and a half, and I’ve found it to be a great tool to help a new player (2 years) with a high handicap understand the analytics of my clubs. Club recommendations are great, and post game statistics are things I really like to monitor improvements and areas that need work. However, these things are only good for yourself. The things this app lacks are big let downs for playing with friends when compared to GolfShot Pro and 18 Birdies. There’s no group scoring. Social sharing is awkward and very limited. Sharing a scoreboard with family and friends requires basically screenshotting the front and back and texting them separately. I really enjoy playing with my friends and it’s always easier to run GolfShot or 18 Birdies side by side with Arccos which drains your battery. Or just use a pencil scorecard. Finally, although I like the Arccos handicap breakdown, I would still prefer Arccos use the slope scoring method to give me a true GHIN handicap and ultimately a NET and projected score like those other 2 apps do. Arccos says I have a handicap of 16, where everything else says I’m a 19???? I don’t understand why there’s such a difference.

  • Useful for in round gps, but other features not accurate enough Jun 19, 2020

    By AutoForward
I bought new clubs last year with the arccos sensors so I figured I might as well try this app. The GPS is useful for getting quick distances and the “plays like” distance is reasonably accurate and useful in making quick club selections. That alone might be worth a one time $100 charge- or whatever the subscription price is. The shot detection is bad enough to make the rest of the related features (handicap, scorecard, etc) mostly useless. At the end of 18 holes its any where from 5- 25 shots off and even less accurate hole by hole. It misses at least 25% of shots so when I check the app for a distance I usually have to adjust the hole I’m playing on because it thinks I’m still playing a previous hole. There would be so much manual adjustment and entry to make things accurate it’s just not worth it. I use the watch app for the GPS, but I just use paper cards to keep score. If this app were a one time purchase, it would be worth it, as an annual subscription, it’s not. It still needs a lot of work- also it eats phone and watch battery to the point that even at 100% charge it’s a toss up whether you’ll make it through a round

Don't waste your money on this product. Why? 1) Customer service is non-existent. Try getting a reasonable, non-computer generated reply to a simple question. Impossible. 2) Has 0% accuracy on tracking shots. I have spent as much time editing rounds as shooting 9 holes. Easier to track your history on your card. 3) Uses up an astonishing amount of phone battery. 4) Cannot read putts. Not sensitive enough for short putts. 5) The website is difficult to use. Not intuitive at all. 6) If you have to take a provisional shot it completely messes this up. Great idea but if I could give it 0 stars I would.

The latest App hasn't been working at all in my 2021 season. Played 8 rounds so far and it worked once. The app didn't register any shots for the other rounds. It's very disappointing. Samsung S21 Ultra One UI 3.1 / Android 11. Still not working after the Apr. 20 update. No shots detected.
  • Great app when it works....but I almost threw my phone in a pond the other day! Jun 17, 2018

    By J W Frank
I think that this is an awesome program and tool, when it works. Over the last 1.5 years it has helped me to develop more consistency with each club and develop a good understanding of how far each club “actually” goes. Lately though it seems that the app is having quite a few issues. I have had to delete the last 2 or 3 rounds that I’ve played because a few holes into the round, the arccos system will lose its way or start missing shots and when you try to edit your shots, to keep up with your round, the app starts flashing and bouncing screens worse than a flash mob at a disco!! I play golf as a way to de-stress from work and have fun with friends but the last few rounds I have had to shut the system off mid round because I just couldn’t take its added stress anymore!! The other day I contemplated throwing my phone in the pond as I was that frustrated. I really hope they find a way to fix these issues as this could be a really great tool but we are not there yet. Good luck!
  • New version glitchy with watch Jan 3, 2021

    By Marvelous_matthew
The new version has some good features but the interface with the Apple Watch is a lot worse. Setting up a round takes an age and frequently the watch and phone have sync issues. When you select a round on the watch vs phone it drains the battery extremely quickly, rarely getting past the 14th. When the battery dies the handoff is extremely clunky and most times I haven't been able to use the phone in the last few holes. Now, I only play on the phone in case it dies. When you play on the phone, maybe half the time the watch draws a blank on the yardage and reports it as zero. I've found the only way round this is to reboot the phone and the watch. Obviously this kinda screws up the round and last time I couldn't make them sync until around hole 6 or 7. On the plus side, shot detection is for sure better. Hardware definitely better, but software defintrky needs a lot of work. Almost tempted to go and buy a rangefinder, messing around with both devices really screws up your concentration and rhythm.

A complete disappointment. I have played 4 rounds with it (and the phone in my front pocket) and it hardly ever registers. Like 30% of my shots record. Last round the whole app just shutdown on hole 5. If you use it you spend more time messing with the app and adding shots than you do actually playing golf. I was so excited at the idea, and frankly it just sucks.

Avoid on android. For some reason my first review was removed... I can't pair the sensors to my phone. Arccos support says that my phone _might_ have a weak microphone and that i should buy an external microphone. For me this seems like a big design flaw... The sensors are by no means cheap and having to spend more money than I already have on the sensors and link device for a solution that might not work doesn't seem worth it. I'm far from the only one with this issue when googling...
  • Cool idea - inconsistent execution Nov 1, 2020

    By RiseUpLights3
I've been using sticks Arccos for about 3 months with my iPhone as my primary sensor. It gets most of my shots, but is about 50/50 on putts. I've used two different putters - one with the superstroke attachment that I paid extra for and another with the regular sensor attached. The superstroke sensor barely works - really disappointed with that. Today I used the Apple watch app to try to track my shots. It was beyond awful. It registered maybe two shots all round. Had a super clunky sync process before and after the round. I don't even know why an Apple watch app was made if it clearly doesn't work. I spent so much time manually adding shots. The caddy feature in the app is another great idea that isn't executed well. Despite all the data points it claims to factor, it doesn't factor wind direction correctly, so it'll recommend too much club on downwind holes and not enough on holes into the wind. I got this system for easy data tracking. It certainly tracks data - but it's far from easy.

Do not buy subscription if you want to use Smartwatch or have shot detection. This app initially started great (always has been bad for keeping score but I never used it for that). Once I renewed subscription it has become terrible and they won't give refund. Shot detection is terrible. Does not work well with watch AT ALL. I have brand new Samsung watch. Can't wait for subscription to be finished so I can use one of the many better apps to track distance with watch for less money too.
  • Increases Golfing Frustrations May 6, 2021

    By Pebblecreek47
This app seems to lose its mind during a round more and more. On a number of occasions now the app gets lost during my round and doesn’t know what hole I’m playing any longer. And manually telling this app what hole you’re on doesn’t seem to correct the issue. When I’m playing golf I prefer to focus on my game, not an annoying app ! And if you want to EDIT a hole, good luck 😉. There’s no zoom in function for a hole and trying to add or correct shots on a relatively small smart phone screen can be another frustrating challenge. In short, if this app didn’t get lost during a round and had a reasonable edit function with zoom it might be better. But combine a malfunctioning app with 6 failed sensors in my first 2 months and I’m beyond frustrated with Arccos. And several of my golf buddies have stopped using this app and sensors as well for the same & other reasons. Sad .....

  • Only as good as the app Jan 26, 2018

    By Ccbwc
I love the idea and, when the app works, it’s really cool. Unfortunately, the app crashes all the time. Most of the time, the app won’t open on my phone. The Arccos symbol appears for a minute and then it’s gone. To use the app, I have to delete it, reinstall it and hope it makes it through the round. It’s not really usable and the frustration detracts from my round rather than enhancing it. When they get the app to work, it will be fun. I will post back here once it’s working right. Until then, a two star review reflects hope for what this can be.

Does many things very well, but there is a learning curve. If you take your time and really get to know the app and how to enable or disable features you will get a lot of mileage out of it. Just be patient and it will likely becomes your go-to. It does best when you edit your round in real time. Occasionally it will miss a shot but it’s normally the tap in putts I picked up. The analytics are spot on. My favorite feature is being able to grey out shots that were obvious misses so they don’t count toward the average per club.

I've only scratched the surface so far with about 7 or 8 rounds played. If you're a stats loving kinda golfer it's money well spent!

  • Watch App poor May 30, 2020

    By crdelsanto
I’ve been using this app since my wife bought it for me as a gift years ago. It really helped my game and I enjoyed it. I was really excited when they expanded to having the watch work stand alone and it seemed to work for a while. The last two seasons the watch app has really taken a turn for the worse. Lately I can’t even finish a round without it stopping to track my shots. VERY frustrating. When I called support about the issue it seems they are having issues keeping up with Apple’s updates. As a consumer, I hope they fix it soon. I have begun looking into alternatives but hope they get it fixed sooner rather than later. It really is a good product when it works.
  • Great tool. App needs work Jul 5, 2020

The arc is caddie is great but this app really needs work, especially when it comes to using an Apple Watch with it. I tried to end a round and it forced me to sync the data from my watch. When I did, my entire round’s shots became out of whack. It appeared to add 25+ strokes and messed up each hole. Round and stats completely lost as I’m Unable to manually go back in and fix my shots. When I try to do so, it thinks I’m adding a shot from miles away. The app needs work and isn’t quite user friendly. It should be more like Golfshot+, which I use in tandem with the arccos caddie. Again, love the product, but the app is kind of a mess.

  • Cool idea - inconsistent execution Nov 1, 2020

  • Increases Golfing Frustrations May 6, 2021

Sad .....
  • Good start, but too many issues Nov 24, 2017

    By LostInTheTrees
The idea is sound, but there are serious issues that have me on the edge of abandoning it. I've used it for 4-5 rounds so far. The worst issue is that the app disables the use of wireless earbuds. I have earpods now, but I also used powerbeats 3 for one round. All audio output is diverted to phone speakers, EVEN THOUGH THE HEADPHONES ARE CONNECTED. I frankly can't believe Apple allowed the app into the store with this flaw. The play/pause function in the headphones works, but the audio only comes from the phone speakers. Next, many strokes are not detected, especially putts. Putts are trivial to add or subtract, but regular strokes are not. The Editing function ballows you to edit the strokes on a hole, but it is poorly done. I am an iOS developer so I understand and can figure out a UI. This one is poor. One simple thing is that it prevents you from zooming in enough. This is a purely arbitrary and silly restriction. Lastly, stats are not displayed well at all. There is not even a straightforward scorecard view of the round!!! The Golfshot app has a much better UI. The sensor functions paired with that app would be an almost ideal solution. I'm so close to going back to it. I actually spend more time editing each hole in Arccos than I do in entering my stats by hand in Golfshot.
  • Good in theory May 13, 2020

Got a set of sensors with my new driver I got for the holidays. It also came with a free 3 month trial. To get the sensors sent I had to sign up and activate my free 3 month trial. That was at the end of November. I live in Nebraska and was not able to play till the beginning of March when we took a trip to Arizona. So long and short of it, I didn’t get to play any rounds through the free trial. I do not like how active on the phone you have to be on every shot. There are too many missed shots not to check after each one and then the time it takes to enter missed shot. It took away from the game, the companionship of the people I’m with and the scenery around me. Played 10 rounds with it and averaged a score of 97. Played my next 10 rounds without the system and went back to my range finder and averaged a score of 91.5. There is some great information available, but ensuring accurate information takes way too much time and effort. Chalk this up to paying $10 a round for the 10 rounds to figure this out. Really wish I didn’t have to start the 3 month subscription in the winter. Would have saved me $100. As I said, it’s a good system in theory, just not for me until there is a better technology between the sensors and the phone.

3/22/2021: Recent Update causes immediate crash when I open it. Can't recommend with this issue. Please fix ***Original*** Battery usage has got much better than before. phone mic needs to be free from obstruction but most of the time it works perfectly.
  • Great technology too cumbersome to use Jun 27, 2020

    By 7377Q
This technology is really fabulous and insightful. Unfortunately until there is a better way for this device to detect a shot than having to keep your phone in your left front pocket it’s simply too cumbersome to use on the course. Constantly removing your phone to check yardages and to make sure the shot is detected and put it back in your pocket, especially if you wear a glove on your left hand is just too distracting. I don’t own an Apple Watch which is the only other method of shot detection I’m aware of. If you just leave it in your front pocket and use some other device to figure yardage to the flag it might be useful but then all of the features in the app are useless.

  • So much potential but disappointing Sep 6, 2020

This app has the potential to be 5 stars but it continues to disappoint. The new format of strokes gained is way to busy and down right confusing to follow. Why did you change from the old format? It was simple and straight forward and a much better user experience. The play from Apple Watch is glitchy and barely captures my shots. Friends I follow I am unable to see their data. Until Arccos works these bugs out save your money. I will say their customer service is great but their IT team has no clue what they are doing and slow to resolve issues...if they even can. Please fix these bugs and make this app what it can be. Track our putt stats, how many putts in each individual round would be nice to see. Allow users to switch to the view we had before strokes gained was pushed down to us. It’s frustrating with the potential the app has for me to even have to write this.

Horrible, the pairing system alone is enough to make this product unusable. Hold it steady on the sensor, wouldnt work. Club not even on the screen, it pairs. Fina another option bc this isnt it

Awful service. Bought some cobra connect clubs and decides to try this out. Needs sensors on all clubs to use, luckily they say free sensors for the rest of your clubs. First they send the extra sensors to the wrong address, since then it's just been over a month of chasing. Weekly emails just get the response "I'll speak to my contact" and still nothing, making it completely unusable. Just get a shot scope instead.

Misses shots and holes using the Link. Editing round was troublesome enough, but after latest update, app crashes every time I try to edit my round (which I have to do 100% of the time) Completely unusable and will be returning under 30 day guarantee
