Not a bad ballistics app and the only one at the time I downloaded it that ha the Horus Tremor 2 reticle. My two frustrations: One, when I've broken my phone the app does not save my data so I have to start from scratch and reenter all my data. Two, I hate that I cannot zoom in on the reticle screen to get a more precise hold picture. I don't need to feature, but my kids and guests need it. Also, I have yet to find my ammo in the ammo library. Other than those issues, great ballistics app.

I’m a firm believer that Bryan Litz has forgotten more about ballistics than the majority of shooters will ever know, let alone understand. With that said, this app relies on the input of accurate information. The more accurate the inputs, the more accurate the resulting output. You absolutely must use accurate muzzle velocity based on accurate atmospheric readings at the time of measurement. It is crucial to then take accurate atmospheric readings at the time of the shot. There are several good ballistic apps out there, but I’ve not seen one any more accurate than Applied Ballistics. If you expect any ballistics app to give accurate information based on the muzzle velocity printed on the ammo box and what the local weatherman says the barometric pressure and temperature are, you’re not going to be happy with the results. Ballistics are all about the math and adding 4+5 will not get you to 10.

Not being able to save input to cloud and/or not allowing users to transfer inputs to another device is a significant issue...phones don't last long and can die at the worst possible times. I am on my second or 3rd manual reentry. Hours will be spent on this as well as checking outputs. Still being told WebSync is coming back but it has been years. If you buy this write all your inputs down. Otherwise if your phone dies unexpectedly you have nothing. Frankly there are a lot of programs out there now and having recoverable inputs is a feature I would strongly recommend a new buyer consider. Other than that the program has been great.

  • Problems since 2019 update Nov 25, 2019

The HUD displays when a person changes the distance/wind do not adjust in the respective display panels, however the data for adjustments is displaying. An example, you will see the distance display as 950 yards, when adjusting the distance the yardage display does not change but the solutions change. The problem this causes is one may think they have a solution for XX yardage, but in fact the displayed distance is incorrect. Tried calling the customer service number as well as emailed costumer support.....crickets. Maybe they will fix these issues with the next update. Otherwise, great info and data. Easy to use and was extremely pleased before the software update. Now I’m patiently waiting on the fix to this issue.

First off Brian Litz who is behind this is one of the world’s top balisticians. His books are the top reference books on the subject. I love the app. It is second to none. However it has a serious issue. First off, it asks a crapload of questions about your firearm and ammo. This is good. That’s what makes it accurate. However I recently upgraded my iPhone and then went to a match. While at rue match I wanted to use the app to work out my drops at the various stages. I opened up the app and all the firearm and load data I entered was gone. I use iCloud for my data backup but this app does not. Then it wanted me to “Restore my Purchases” (for the custom bullet BC profiles I paid for). How was I supposed to do that while at the match with zero cell reception? So this is a great app if you don’t mind rebuilding your firearm and bullet profiles every time you upgrade your phone. I believe I could have done significantly better at the match had my ballistics app actually been able to be used at the match. Grrrrrrr.......

Strelok Pro blows this away. Wasted 30.00 bucks. Features are not easily accessible when you are needing ballistic info in a hurry. It is limited in the reticles available in comparison to above mentioned. The graph showing distance on the reticle is very slow if at all to populate. Compare the above to Appiled Ballistic and see for yourself. By the way Pro is only 11.99. I have used it for a long time and it is spot on. So why did I try Applied Ballistics well because it might be better...NOT

Applied Ballistics responded quickly to correct the issue, so back to 5 stars. Previously: It was a 5 star rating until earlier this week. App will no longer acquire weather data and no longer calculates ballistic tables. Is there a bug in the 10/18/2020 release? If I uninstall and reinstall, will I lose my rifle and ammunition configurations?

  • Best ballistics app Nov 21, 2017

This is the best ballistics app out there and worth every penny. While the user interface is a little clunky, it’s still miles above any comparable app. As a hunting guide, I need to have data for each clients gun and ammo available offline. This app makes that easy and convenient with an extensive library of factory loads to choose from. I really like the reticle view feature for being able to show clients exactly what the reticle looks like and where to apply a wind hold. One issue that I’ve found is with importing the local atmospheric conditions. Even with the “Disable Wind Population” turned on (so that the local station values don’t mess up my preferred 10 MPH / 90* wind value), I am still getting local wind populated into my chart and One Shot views, so I have to go back and delete the imported wind and manually enter 10 MPH / 90* winds. Overall, it’s a great tool and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a phone based ballistics calculator.

  • Special forces sniper approved!! Apr 26, 2019

This app is advanced for shooters looking to make sub MOA hits at 600 plus yards. This app will only link with the proper AB kestrel. Also, common sense applies with apps. If you update and have crashes you need to delete and reinstall just like any program on windows or apple.... it’s Operating system problems. Every competent special forces sniper has this app as his go-to. Todd has always supplied SOCOM with the best hardware and software for a special forces sniper. He’s personally taken calls from me needing answers for taking 2,000 yard plus shots. I have ballistic AE as well. It’s good generally and has good info but I don’t think the developer is a long range shooter. AB is designed by shooters. There’s a difference in thought process of setting up rifle and kestrel and your ballistics app that makes a same always close the the other apps and return to this for proper data.

  • Decent App; Great data Jan 17, 2018

Edited: At first I really disliked the app. I had 3 main issues with it, 1 of which was user error. The second issue was the user interface, which is still not very good, but workable. The third issue is that it doesn’t work right on the I-pad. Brass tax. If you want quick results, this is not your app. You have to be willing to dive into the users manual (available online) and work past some confusing set up criteria. But if you want the best data and you’re willing to spend some time getting to know the app, you’ll be very pleased, so long as you aren’t on an i-pad.

I have been using this since it came out. Two issues, PRS surveyed the top shooters and a majority use the Vortex Razor HD with EBR reticles then why not add this to the library?? Also add an option to either use look angle or cosine. Most do not want to use the phones gyroscope as their indicator so allow the shooters with expensive tools use them with your app. The last time I use look angle it freaked out and kept prompting an error and had to be hard reset.

Good software that I've used for a long time, including fine tuning all of the very specific variables that go into my firearms and ammo loads. However, for that very reason I've been frustrated that they removed the ability to cloud sync. Especially so that I got a new phone and had to painstakingly input all of these details again. This would be 5 stars if I could simply export/import or cloud sync this data. I'd be less critical if it wasn't the most expensive app I've ever paid for.

I love the app, this is my go to ballistic solver. It is a bit more unfriendly than some easier to use apps. I use it on my iPhone with no problem however when I try and use it on my IPad (which would be preferred) the screens do not format properly. For an app of this price, from an outfit as prestigious as AB, it should at least be coded correctly

No matter what I do I am always showing one click off at my zero range when going to the hud mode. There needs to be a button to auto apply all your Atmosphere data on the Zero data table.

Good ballistics app, but hasn't been updated in over a year. Also, you cannot backup your rifle and bullet data - so you have to re-enter when you get a new phone or reset your existing phone. I think they are more interested in their app in the Kestrel devices than they are in the phone app. Tech support is excellent, but for the price of the phone app, you should be able to backup your data.

  • Great author; program in iphone/ipad pretty sorry Jun 17, 2019

It is very easy to lose your data. Ridiculous. Does not update from iPhone to iPad. Strike two. There are issues on the iPad display regarding the drop charts (which sometimes present as a garbled mess, with numbers appearing on top of other numbers). The column headers are not even placed over the appropriate columns at times, making it slmost impossible to use them. Sorry developers I guess. I wish I knew and appreciated all these issues with the AB App before I got it. There really is no excuse for any of these things. It does work, though. YMMV of course.

The app is okay, but I'm probably going to another app as there is no cloud storage like previously. Massive pain when you change phones and all your good data is lost or you have to painstakingly input it again. I know they have said they are working on it but thats been years. They obviously aren't. We also need better resolution for parameter choice, choosing the output for every variable.

Web sync has been down since late 2017!!!!..."working on it "..is the constant feed. Losing data / purchases changing phones..unacceptable. AB needs to listen to purchasers...would be a #1 app. There's cheaper apps that do the same thing and have more working features. With cloud data again would rate 5 star ...totally not worth the money at this time.

Sorry, but I loved the oringinal version. I have to rate this new version a 2 as it doesn't have a way to backup and restore dope. I saw notes posted 7/18 that is was not ready for public, and there is no way to manually export and store data. I lost all my dope when my phone was damaged. If you provide a way to backup and restore data again... I would rate this 5 stars.

I love all things long range shooting, I want to say that first. I was looking for a ballistic calculator that would show a separate column for Coriolis, the description made it sound like this iPad that. The ballistic drop down columns don’t lineup on the iPad format. And Coriolis is Selectable, but the offset is not displayed separately so you can’t distinguish what’s Coriolis vs Spindrift vs Wind. So the apps not really give me what I’m looking for. The interface is kind of awkward also. Some of the free calculators are better. I wanted this to be great. I can’t help but feel that this is just trying to get people to buy the $200 analytics package which I’m not going to do.
