I looked at all of the money games carefully before deciding on this one. It's cute and kept my child's attention. However, there are several things that could be improved in the app. The relative sizes of the coins should be more life like. The visual representations make it difficult to tell them apart. There is a heavy use of half dollar and dollar coins which we really don't see much of, I'd prefer to see a heavier usage of the quarter, dime, nickel and penny. (the sizes and types of coins are the two reasons are why I gave it 3 stars...) Lastly, when you get to the fridge at the end, I don't much see the point of this and it's hard to tell what to do when you get there. (there's a refresh icon in the upper left corner that brings you back to the first screen.) Why not have a persistent menu button? All that said, it is a practical and cute way for kids to learn how to count change for purchases.

  • Great game Apr 27, 2012

We have had this for 2 days and both my girls (ages 4 &6) like playing it. I would have given it 5 stars but there isn't a way to change levels. My 4 year old just keeps hitting them till she gets the right answer. It is really helping my 6 year old with making change! It's worth the $1.99

  • Great practical use of coins for kids Jan 22, 2013

I am very impressed with this app. It has lots of practical, real ways that coins are used. Kids learn the values of the coins, how to add them together, how to make change, and more. I also like the variation of easy and hard activities so that kids don't get tired of too easy or too hard stuff. Well designed and useful app for kids!

As a tutor for kids who struggle with math, I am always looking for new apps that would be helpful for my kids. This could be a good app if you could choose which game type you wanted to practice. Not having a menu with options is frustrating when you want to practice a specific skill. Would love to see improvements made...

  • My 5 year old son loves this! May 2, 2012

    By Agaer01
We play this game every night. He has learned every aspect of this game on his own. It it nice that the questions are read to him. We wish that it would get more difficult, he has mastered this game very quickly. His favorite part is counting out the exact change to buy food.

  • I love it, Jun 5, 2012

My son was just expressing how frustrated he was because he didn't know how to count quarters. This game is just what the teacher ordered. The only problem is the game does not display traditional dollar bills, but that is an easy problem to fix.

  • Needs to give u options Feb 11, 2012

Good except for dollar & half dollar coins are included which is confusing because nobody really uses those anymore. There should be an option to pick what types of coins you would like to be using.

I really liked this app for my grandkids. I wish we could pick which games we play and stay on them longer. It changes games too fast and they haven't learned how to play the last one yet. Also, the nickle was the new one and they didn't recognize it.

  • Great app - 7 YO enjoys it May 19, 2013

The app captured my son's attention. Dollar coin should resemble actual size. The only feature that I cannot figure out is how to consume/eat food bought & stored in fridge (how do you empty fridge to purchase more food/drinks?). I do recommend this app for kinder thru 1st grade students.

Very nice to have an app which gets children to focus on coins. The app can be a bit confusing for five and six year olds as it almost immediately jumps into solving mathematical problems with coin. The use of half dollar and whole dollar coin can throw the youngsters off. I have to do the math while getting her to figure the value- relation of the coin. This is something young children can grow into.

App has useful functions. However, the coins such as a nickel are not the actual size of nickel. As result, a nickel can easily be confused with the quarter as they appear almost the same size on the screen. The coins should be their actual size. Also, there should be a way of just playing one game at a time as opposed to being forced to play random games that you may not want to practice.

  • What's with the $ coin? Feb 9, 2013

    By ScrabbleStar!
I bought this app for my 6 year old. It's engaging and she enjoys it, but it is confusing her since the sizes of the coins need to be more true to life...they are too similar. Also, the $ coin looks too much like a penny for early learners. Should probably ease them in with progressive learning and eliminate the $1 coin since no one in the states uses a $1 coin anymore.

This could be a very good app. But in the classroom it could use some updates. Maybe get 5 correct before a reward. Also can you have a page with setting option - Lowercase letters, select a specific skill to have students work on instead of always randomizing them so they can master one before the next?
