Let me just start off by saying I was skeptical about this app at first because of linking my bank account, but given that I live on my own and just moved to a new state, I needed to budget my paychecks properly as I was carelessly spending before. I downloaded this app with the intention to get my finances under control but didn’t realize all the benefits. So i downloaded it and payed the monthly fee, and it set up a savings account (rainy day fund) then forgot about it and deleted the app. THREE MONTHS LATER I’m checking my banking app and see that Albert had taken $10 out of my account then looked a little more and had seen they had been periodically taking money out. At first I was lied “WHOA HOLD UP WHAT IS THIS??” So I downloaded Albert again and checked it and it had SAVED UP ALMOST $300!! I was honestly so happy. As someone who had been living paycheck to paycheck and worried if I was gonna be able to pay rent every month because of my careless spending, this app has SAVED ME so much financial anxiety. I even created another savings account in the app for a car AND IT PREDICTS WHEN ILL ACHIEVE THAT GOAL! You can set up “smart savings” for any of the savings account which will take out what you can afford to save, which is a lifesaver! Safe to say I’ll be using this app probably FOREVER!

It is teaching me a lot about the market, the different types of stocks and how to invest in them. I thought the spending reminders would get annoying but its not and if you wanna change your spending habits for real, then its really helpful. He tells you where to reduce costs and how. Had Albert 3 months now with No issues to report. Best of all the 500 I invested over the 3 months is up 16%. Do it, you'll be happy you did.

I was always too lazy to go to the bank or an ATM to withdraw cash to save for various things (vacations, emergencies, Christmas), and I didn’t want to create an actual savings account that would lump it all together, so I constantly had NO money saved because I didn’t have the discipline to not spend all that I had in checking. Albert is AMAZING! It lets me create as many folders as I want, for whatever I want. They have “smart savings,” where they automatically will save a certain amount of money for you each week and spread it across your folders, based on the priority you’ve given them. Then, you can also add funds as you’d like. Best of all, you can withdraw money whenever you need, without any fees. It does take a couple of days to post to your bank account, but that is the ONE, single thing about the app that I don’t love, and I can completely understand why it can’t be immediate. Love love love this app. I talk about “my Albert” to friends and family at least a couple times each week, and they know exactly what I’m talking about. And you can choose how much to pay for the monthly subscription, so if you’re super tight on money like I was when I first got the app, you can give just $5/month and have all of these great benefits.

I've used Albert for almost a year and it's been the best budgeting and saving app I've used. The genius option helped me decrease one of my bills and it helps to see patterns of eating out and overspending. And, transferring savings back into checking only takes a day if I need that $$$ back. Highly recommend.

This app has been so helpful in saving money for different projects like fixing my car or filing for bankruptcy or products that I want to buy. The cool part about the app is that it tells you your budget, let's you know if you go over your budget. This app actually helps you save because it takes just a little money out of your bank and into the goals you set. My husband and I struggle with money management because neither of us was taught how to manage money or save it for that matter, so this app helps us save money with little to no effort on my side at all. The best part is you almost don't miss the money that Albert takes out. I love that it looks at how much money I have and it saves only what I can afford based off of what our account balance is. I highly recommend this app to anyone who struggles with living paycheck to paycheck and feeling like you just can't save money. This app has helped my husband and my save almost enough money to buy a lower-cost car. It's hard to be employed full time and both of us being full-time students at University with only one car. Thanks to this app, we should have enough saves up to get a second car in about 6 months.

Horrible app. I applied for a advance from them. I never received it, I contacted customer service and do as they ask me with my transaction history. And as they could clearly see there was no deposit made in my checking account. But they are insanely convinced they deposited into my savings. I have never had trouble before until I used this app. And they don't try to help or resolve the issue. They just keep trying to take money from me. I'm totally disgusted.

I filled out everything correctly and it says that I cannot request cash now because my bank balance is too low to verify even though I added money to the account. It's been saying that for a few days now even though I refreshed my account. Then they tell me to text Genius, which is something you have to pay $7 or $8 for. I ended up canceling that because it's useless. I use Dave and they are better. I give them another day or two before I delete the whole account.

Be careful. Don’t sign up for Genius unless you’re ready to be active and use the program daily. I spent an entire year paying for genius when I never used it once because it was taking the same amount as the automatic savings and all this time I thought it was saving money for me so I let it continue. Come to find out it never saved anything after the initial $5 savings deposit and I’m convinced it made the initial savings deposit $5 so that when genius started up you’d think it was still saving you money when it wasn’t. Wish I never installed this app and I’ll be sure to warn everyone I know against it. There’s plenty of options that don’t use deceptive practices. EDIT FOR DEVELOPER COMMENT: it sounds like your app hides the fact that you’re paying for an unused service by alternating days funds are taken based on “availability” (the process described by the automatic savings plan and NOT mentioned by the genius paid membership) and not prominently displaying paid membership status so that people continue to believe they’re saving money and and not cancel their useless and unused paid membership. The fact that I had to DIG DEEPLY to find out that I was on a paid membership and that I wasn’t actually saving money as I had thought for an entire year proves my point. I had to view 6 pages of information to find out that Genius was charging me because it doesn’t even say that on my account information page in the app. 🤷‍♂️

I thought this app was awesome, in the beginning. but wait! all I really needed was a cash advance, I got the cash but I didn't know that I just signed up for most expensive feature in this entire store (probably-without my consent too) The company took out $88 for being a "Genius" member, which I don't recall signing anything/receiving notifications/ or a quick day or two reminder about the yearly amount about to be taken out of my own credit Union acct that I linked with this app. NOT COOL, Albert company!!! stick with the basic apps that do what you want and forget all the other features you may or may not use. Be careful and completely read ALL the disclosures and consent forms cuz that's how I found out that the company had "permission" or "consent" from the user(s) without informing us at ALL, before transferring money from a personal acct to their own!!! That's crazy and/or ludicrous - I'll leave this app alone for awhile, also NO RECOMMENDATIONS EITHER

  • Surviving the American Dream Jan 5, 2021

Albert and I were discussing the good old days and I the more aged of the group was reliving the days of the Boston Tea Party and the day the shot heard around the world occurred. The days we first were fantasizing about living lives where even we common folk could raise our families free of oppression and the tyranny of a government whose only focus was to make the privileged and wealthy more so. A country where one could bring life to a dream and pursue it in a land of liberty that was dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal. Reflecting on these beloved seemingly fading memories I was inspired by Albert’s wisdom of such matters and the way I could again refocus those pursuits with his help and insights so I shook his hand and have allowed Albert to navigate me towards safer shores and calmer waters and have yet found the need to look back. I sail now in confidence knowing that I have the GENIUS of Albert to help guide me back towards that dream I thought had been too far lost to ever again find. Jump on matey there’s plenty enough room even for us common folk. Albert knows the way. Thank you

So, I'm not the worst at saving money, but it's still kind of hard to do it right and know how much to put away and stuff like that. Albert does it automatically. The smart savings feature has saved my life. I have saved so much money by it just taking small increments that it knows I can afford on a regular basis. I am paying $5 a month but to me it is beyond worth it. I like having this money set aside that's not easily accessible to me but I can retrieve whenever I want. It also shows me what I'm spending it on so it can guilt me into eating out less. If you're a young adult like myself and need to start saving for life but don't know where to start, this is the app for you. My only reason for 4 stars is that it really keeps pushing me towards investments and I wish there was a way to just make that go away because I'm not interested in that. Sometimes the notifications can get pushy so I turned them off. And it's hard to adjust my income.

Love this app! Anytime someone mentions saving money, I mention Albert. It has helped me tremendously with saving, and I only chose 4 stars because I wish that the budget was a little more interactive. I have talked to other people who use apps that will text them their remaining balance for the week, etc, and I think that could be a cool update/ addition to the app. As far as saving goes (and tracking excess spending at any particular places), Albert has it down. I cannot emphasize how grateful I am to have an app that helps me save diligently, as I have always been a saver but have a bad habit of dipping into my savings. Albert helps me to avoid that issue by having the savings stored separately (in the app) from my primary checking account. Not to mention that by tracking my spending and putting what I don’t spend into the savings automatically, I have been able to save more money in less time than normal. Seriously a big fan of the app, if you couldn’t tell.

When your salary goes up, you think you would save more. In my case I started spending more on stupid stuff... I had $0 in my savings for over a year. Something was wrong. So I tried Albert app. It’s been about 2 months with Albert. I saved $570 so far. Which is not a huge amount but it’s a good start! It withdraws $50 or smaller amount every week without asking me about it. I would have spent those $50 a week on like coffee, smoothies, eating out for no reason, or buying another sweater or pair of shoes that I don’t need. It surprisingly hasn’t affected the way I live at all. Another thing I like about the app is that I started understanding the money flow in my bank accounts better. Knowing the total income and necessary spending makes a huge difference for me to plan for better savings. Because of the analyzing aspect of the app, I am realizing I can even save more if I want to. And I probably will. The reason I give 4 stars is that I am a little skeptical about Albert Genius feature. It says I can consult with an actual person by texting. The person answers your questions and sends you links to the particular info or other programs. I feel like I can get those info on the internet by searching the topics anyway, but maybe I am being too cocky. I think I should try it a little longer to see the benefit more clearly.

  • Overall disappointing Jan 10, 2020

    By Ty Younce
Albert has been an okay but not great tool. Albert has given me good advice when texting with questions, and the answers are always very thorough and informative. I like the way the savings works, except for the delay to receive withdrawals. However, I’ve been pretty disappointed with the actual budgeting tools. My first issue was that you can’t select biweekly pay, only once or twice a month or weekly. It does a very poor job of detecting income and transactions automatically; when I manually enter information, it’s still confused. I manually added my new twice a month payment schedule and amount, and it listed my next two paychecks as the 31st of this month and 15th of the next and skipped the 15th of this month, making it appear that I have half my usual budget. That’s just an example of the often clunky and inaccurate budgeting tool. It can take days before the budgeting information is updated, even if I refresh my bank account and credit cards. I can only track one of the cards that I use from the same company. While I like the value added services on this app, the primary service is a big let down.

When I started using this app I found it very useful. I was able to start saving money which is one of my main goals. I even signed up for the premium service which allowed me to get a better percentage on the savings. The accumulation in savings for the first year didn’t offset the cost of the membership. Neither will it this year and unlikely for the year after at the rate I’m saving. So I plan to withdrawal from membership. I think some of the major negatives that I have experienced with the app is the unavailability to connect with the Albert “Genius” customer service representatives on the weekends. Which is the time I need the most help being when I’m free from work. There has been a lot of talk and no action on linking up with investment sites, specifically Robinhood, which is a bummer for me being that is where I am invested. Albert definitely promotes their investment team rather than making other avenues available. If this does not occur within the next six months, I’m leaving Albert and moving onto a competitor site.

  • Nice app no genius Oct 8, 2019

    By scarsparkstarter
I decided to try Albert out and I really liked the financial overview of the app and being able to see spending in various categories. I paid for genius, but they never respond to my inquiries. The app will have a task to discuss something with genius but no response when I try. I put enough money in to cover the cost of genius with my interest earned. I could never get one credit card to link which was annoying but more to do with the card company. I had no issues taking my money out when we were prepping to buy a house and I was able to cancel genius. However I don’t like the app without genius as it doesn’t show your spending in the same manner. I feel like they should respond when I text if I’ve paid for the advertised service though and I’m not going to pay that much just for the spending overview app. I also feel better having a real savings account rather than something I can ONLY access through the app and not even through a laptop.

  • Really Good, Just inconvenient. Sep 25, 2019

Albert is a pretty good app, it does what it promises really well and now you can even invest through Albert! I love that i can reliably save my money and have access to the information that Albert provides. Sometimes, however, I catch myself in a sticky situation due to the fact that the auto save feature takes out my money at the most inconvenient time and doesn't even notify me so i don't have to embarrass myself trying to buy something. If there can be a feature where Albert asks if it is ok to take the money first so i can make that final decision I think this app could do some great things for me personally and a lot of other people out there. For now, to avoid that from happening I've turned down the amount that Albert auto saves, but ill be willing to bring it back up if this feature is implemented. I haven't started investing yet either, I will be trying it out soon though, hope all goes well!

  • Didn’t get past TOS Sep 12, 2018

    By ndunkeljensen
For once I actually read the terms and conditions before accepting. I had seen a very serious negative review regarding spam emails and texts/calls about financial options/loans/etc. They responded to the individual in a comment saying that the emails are probably from someone that they applied for a loan with, but otherwise they weren’t sure. They stated that they DO NOT give your data to anyone, but the TOS includes you giving your consent for them to transfer your data to other companies/partners... um what? There is also a portion in that E-Consent section that says you authorize them to not only transfer your info, but for third parties to receive information about you and your credit report (aka a “hard pull” (even says it’s a hard pull in their TOS)). I didn’t move forward with this app. Their response to the individuals comment and their TOS don’t line up. No thanks.

My account is suspended because I got a new debit card and they had to take the repayment directly out of my account because I forgot to update my debit card. If they would respond this could be fixed. Pissing me off dudes. I'm about to cancel my account.

I like the notifications about how much I spent on certain things because I don’t normally pay attention to what I bought or spent on and ended up with huge credit card bills. Text notifications definitely make me more aware of my financial situation. I used to use Penny but it’s gone for good so I am looking for alternatives. I found Albert on Instagram ads(got cyber stalked by Facebook...) and I downloaded today. It asks me to pay for Albert Genius $6 without me even start using the app. I get it that financial advices aren’t free but maybe I need to know what I am paying for?? Investments or advices?? What goal and how good is the gain?? I ignored this my choosing $0. And then I moved on connecting to my banks. It’s a little annoying because I do have several financial institutions (7+) that I need to connect to start with. It’s getting even more annoying and frustrating while I tried couple of times connecting Chase and Discover and still failed, which I already tried logging in on my laptop and succeeded. Anyway, lots of things need to improve for this app. Hope it got fixed soon and I will use it for a while and try it out and probably come back update my review.

This is the worst mistake I’ve ever made. First of all, you provide intimate financial information about yourself. Makes sense, it’s a financial app, after all. Moving on to the issue with that. They text you about your stuff and your goals once you set up genius (lowest you can pay is $3/month to get the service). This app GOT MY NAME WRONG which is HUGE to me since they have such confidential and volatile information about me. Y’all can’t even get my name correct but you’ve got bank info, credit cards, and loan info? No thanks. I wish that’s where it ended, but...since downloading this app I have gotten spam emails about loans, consolidating loans, and so on. I NEVER got these before and within 2 days of downloading this app I have received an email of this nature from various companies multiple times per day. I have also received unsolicited texts from numbers for services about loans and financial planning, which I didn’t consent to. I’ve gotten a strange “telemarketer” type phone call about housing financials too, just two days after signing up with this app. It makes me wonder what this app is doing with such private information they gain access to. Who else have they given it to?! If I’d have known beforehand I’d be getting spammed, I never would have undertaken this app. It’s way too coincidental in nature that all of this started within hours of me downloading this app. Beware of this!!!!
